The last time I had gotten a pedi and mani was 7 months ago, when I was still pregnant. My youngest is now nearing 6 months, and I came in for some self care and pampering. After the reviews on Yelp, I booked my appointment for a pedi and colored dip powder on my nails. I had my appointment scheduled for 1:30pm on a Sunday but the salon sent me a txt around 12:15pm to let me know they could take me in early. I got there around 1:50pm. My first impression of the place was that it's clean and well maintained. Lots of color options on the walls. Lee did my nails and she was so patient. I never felt rushed and she made sure I liked everything before proceeding. I couldn't help but stare and adore them in between the entire time she worked on my hands. The hand massage at the end was heavenly! Johanna did my pedicure and she was also patient and kind. I asked for a simple off white polish and the water temp was perfect (I like it hot!). Worst salon ever!!! If I could give 0 stars I'd do it. I regret so much going to this salon. A hispanic lady did my nail (I'm from Colombia so nothing against my community) she was not nice at all. You could tell she was pissed or having a bad day. I didn't feel comfortable at all. She was rushing so much to do my nails like less than 30 seconds on the UV LED nail lamp. I could tell they were not dried enough. I had to ask her to put more polish on my nails because they were very transparent and week (the only reason I do gel is bc I don't want my nails to break easily so gel keep them strong) so a total mess already. I knew was gonna be a disaster. She struggled so much to do my design (which is a pretty easy design) and at the end my nails just looked dirty and unfinished. On top of that she charged me 20 dollars more for that shitty design, ugh! And that's no even the worst. After a week the gel was destroyed. Julianna is absolutely amazing! I went and asking for a Russian manicure, and although they do not do those, she reassured me that she would do a very beautiful job. I was a little hesitant, but also willing. When she started working on my nails, they were super short, but she was able to push back and make them look absolutely beautiful and much longer. She did a gel x top coat so my nails can get stronger. The price is a little bit more compared to the competitors in this area, but absolutely worth every penny. The nail salon does not have a strong smell at all and feels very clean. Julianna is literally my new go to person. read more

I came in for an Ombre French gel manicure ($50). At first, the ombre was not blended at all and you could clearly see sponge marks. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of the first attempt because it made me sad to look at . Prior to the start of the service I showed a reference picture of what I wanted. However, what I received was far from what I wanted. I spoke to what seemed to be someone in charge and asked if there was anything that could be done to fix it because it was not what I had asked for. He was super nice about it and said yes it could be fixed and placed with a new lady right away without any drama. The new manicurist removed the prior work, and worked diligently to fix my nails. The new ombre was perfectly blended and looked very clean (pictures attached). Service was great! The woman who did my nails the first time was also nice and the manicure part was perfect. So, I used to go to Nail Pro in Riveredge faithfully and I LOVE the staff and the salon but the truth is they don't have a good variety of gel nail colors. So I yelped other nail salons and came across Sophia Nail. OMG. I wish I found out about this place earlier. First off. They have A HUGE variety of gel nail colors! Neons, nudes, and everything in between. They also have BRAND NEW massage chairs. So comfortable. From Mon-Thurs they have deals on regular mani+pedis and gel mani+pedis (and a few dollars off if you pay in cash, check out the pictures I posted for y'all!!!) So with the pedicure they put special salts in the pedicure water that conditions your skin, and you can pick between the Tropical or Grapefruit flavor!! I picked the Grapefruit!! It was awesome. A regular pedicure also includes a hot stone leg massage and paraffin soak for smooth heels. It was absolutely amazing!!!!!!! Sandra was my nail tech. She is awesome!!!! You have to go here!! The entire staff is super friendly and the salon is spotless. Don't worry about parking, they have a private lot in back of the salon!!! P.S. - FUN FACT!!! I made an appointment and came in on a Saturday for a Gel Manicure. My nail tech had headphones on and was on the phone while she was doing my nails. Although she was nice, I had to ask her to file my nails straight (she confirmed that I wanted square) because they were crooked and uneven. She did not know how to cut cuticles and pretty much cut all of the skin outside the cuticle. To make matters worse on Sunday I noticed my index finger nail was already broken (I have very thick nails, rarely break) so I glued it. Today is Wednesday, 4 days later and it completely broke. I went back and explained that had the nails been filed evenly and properly I wouldn't have had this issue. They "fixed it" by creating a new nail that doesn't match the rest in size or color and had the audacity to charge me $8 for it. The prices here are regular to pricey but the value and quality are not there. Update: exactly 7 days have passed since my original manicure and another 2 nails have broken. My mother and I made an appointment a couple weeks ago. The prices are in line with the area. The staff greeted us immediately when we arrived and we only waited a couple minutes each for someone to be ready for us. We each received manicures (1 regular and 1 gel). I have a discoloration issue with my nails and the woman was very helpful in picking out the right color that would make me happy and work best. It's been a couple weeks, and I do need to return. The nail file and buffers they used were obviously used on previous customers. The woman doing my nails made my finger bleed. As for the pedi, it was overpriced and very unprofessional. I recently moved into the neighborhood and found Sophia Nails, I've been twice for a fill and paid $55 the first time for acrylic fill in with gel color and thought that was a great price considering I normally get my nails done in Brooklyn and wouldn't have to commute. I just went for a full set and they charged me $95 for a FULL SET!!! With gel color!! I didn't even think to check the price board because who would ever think a regular nail salon would ever charge that price. I got a solid gel color. That price is disrespectful, unheard of, and does not match their services. I've gotten my nails done at several different locations in NJ / NY over the past 10 years and never paid such a price for nails. Karen is amazing at doing her job... she will do great on your nails. Trust the process. However the workers just stare you down all the time and you feel unwelcome when you enter almost to the point where they look at you like you're lost. Parking is located in the back and is very limited and it gets scary at night because there's no light. After searching online I decided to try Sophia Nail based on the great reviews. I was pleasantly surprised at the ease with which I was able to schedule my services on their website. The gentleman that runs Sophia, John, is diligent and very accommodating. I've been there twice now and had a great experience with both of the technicians that did my acrylic refills (Elena and Lisa). Johanna does a beautiful pedicure and gives an awesome foot massage which is an excellent value for $10 more. I also love their spa chairs with massage and whatever it is they soak your heels in is amazing to soften cracked or dry skin. Sophia Nail is a great value and a touch above the rest in service, attention and quality. If I could give this place no starts I would. Made a appointment with my Hubby to get a peti. When we walked in the staff didn't say Hello which was rather unprofessional so I let them know we made a appointment then they just pointed to the spa pedicure seats and told me to pick a color. The spa area was not horrible looking at first however I did notice that the sink bowls for the pedicure did not look clean and they didn't put plastic in the sink bowl like other spa places do for sanitary purposes. As I was looking at the sink bowl it looked dirty so I told the staff to clean out the bowl before My pedicure. The staff wanted me to sit in the chair while he cleaned out the bowl so I just stood there and watched him clean out the bowl and then I thought nope we are leaving! I am not paying $50 for a spa pedicure in a unsanitary looking place and get a fungus on my toe or some other weird growth on my foot because of them not being up to standard with cleanliness. Me and my husband got up and left and went to another nail spot down the street at the Riverside Square mall. I've been coming here off and on, usually for regular pedicures, but sometimes for regular manicures & pedicures. I made an appointment today for a french gel manicure & regular pedicure. The pedicure was average, and I noticed that the technician took my polish in another room and seemed to have added something to it. I bring my polishes from home to avoid thinners and other things that salons use. I questioned her about it & of course she lied, but I let it go. Moving on to the manicure. I used to go to Joanna regulary, but unfortunately she is no longer there. The technician seemed to know what she was doing and actually asked me questions about what I'd want... but I noticed she didn't soak my nails, didn't really clean them outside of cutting the cuticles, and then slapped primer on top. This was when I got frustrated and asked her why she was skipping all of the manicure steps I'm accustomed to. She claimed that soaking nails was bad for the application of gel polish. OK... what about actually cleaning them? Exfoliating my hands? Lotion?? We're just skipping to polish? I wasn't paying for a half-ass job, so I politely told her I'll take a regular manicure instead, and after giving it a second of thought, I cancelled the service altogether. Paid for my pedicure, tipped the technician for it, and left. I wrote this review for the owner to read, as he was not present at the time. In my opinion, if a service is offered there should be a standard that all technicians meet. I understand that Joanna and Sandra are no longer there, but many clients like myself were accustomed to the service they provided, and expect such. Really dissapointing. read more

Wanted to do my nails for my birthday and less than a week later my nails are bending back, breaking and crumbling. The top coat of dip wasn't thick enough. They don't do walk ins. You have to make an appointment. Which can be both good and bad depending on how you look at it. This is the only salon I know in the area who does chrome manicures. They do them well and the manicurists are professional. The salon has a nice set up with a dedicated waiting area with comfortable couches. There's parking out back. Like a few other nail salons they do a little shoulder rub if you get a manicure. But it's unenthusiastic and lack luster--you can tell the manicurists don't want to do it. I'm not mad--I find it a bit humorous and just prefer them to skip it altogether if it's like that! I don't come for that anyway. I come for the manicures and those are good. read more

Rating 2 stars because I've come here before for pedicure and it was top notch. Unfortunately I assumed the same case for an acrylic set and received a different experience. The nail tech Lee was nice but at the end was told my nail set was $115! Shocked on why my basic French swirl nails were so much they went to explain their sets start at $85!? I get acrylics done all the time and have NEVER paid this much for a simple swirl on the nails. No way. It was my own mistake for not asking their starting prices prior to sitting in the chair but I assumed the general price that you literally get everywhere else in town. Will never be back for that service and told the manager they need to do a market analysis for their business. You can go right down the street to Fine Touch Nails where a full set starts at $45 and get the exact same experience if not better. read more
