AMAZING happy hour! Came here for lunch on a Thursday afternoon around 3pm and sat at the bar. Ordered their special - margarita, two tacos, chips and salsa for $12!!! The bartender did not skimp in tequila in the margarita, it was delicious. The tacos were small so I ordered a side of Mexican corn and what the hell, another margarita. At first I was skeptical, I want to hear the loud music and people having fun letting loose. And this is the bar it has a lot of potential to be the best bar. However service is very slow idk if it was because it was national margarita day so they were busy but still no excuse took forever for someone to to our money when trying to pay the bill. And when asking someone to get my server to get said item they would pass it off and then forget about it. This place is cute but the food is mediocre and the service is not very good. I ordered two tacos on corn tortillas. The pastor and carnitas. The pastor was extremely greasy in my opinion. The carnitas was nothing special. The kids quesadilla tortilla were weirdly thick and it was strange that it came with fries. My toddler enjoyed the fries more than the quesadilla. i've been walking past this place for months, waiting through winter for the outside tables to open. finally, we got a beautiful day and gave it a try. and i am very happy we did. i believe we've found a new local place to put on our list of regulars. as we waited for our starter of guacamole and chips, we saw numerous beautiful plates on their way to other tables. everything looked fresh and plentiful. the drinks we saw, especially the sangria margarita, looked like works of art. and we were no less impressed when our food and drinks arrived. my gf loved her margarita, and my passionfruit iced tea was perfectly refreshing. the guacamole could have used a touch more salt and lime, but it was fresh and chunky. and while i would have prefered corn chips, the flour tortilla chips were crisp and well seasoned. my gf's found enough options on the menu to satisfy her vegan diet, including some excellent tacos (tofu as well as vegetable). and her watercress salad reminded me how much i love this forgotten green. i found the asada and carnitas tacos to be equally excellent. and the sopes verdes (shredded chicken on a frito bean cake) was amazing. and i can't say enough about the garnishes on everything - pickled onions, radishes, sauces, micro greens, all of it. i was duly impressed. we will definately be back, and i'm looking forward to the enchiladas. read more

Had Chicken Tacos Chicken was horribly dry and some piece were burnt.... My bf had the Mechones was too spicy and he said it didn't taste that great. We decided to try Sonora because we like to support local businesses. The place is very cute inside, with music, a bar, a reclaimed wood feel and dim lighting. The staff is attentive and friendly. Sadly, the food didn't match the rest. We were served the vegetable burrito and the salmon burrito. Both were bland, strangely sweet and served with absolutely no garnish. Juste a sad burrito on a plate. Rice was overcooked, salmon was dry. Just not good Mexican. At $17 for a fish burrito in Bed-Stuy, we should have gotten much more. read more

The food is good. I've had the tacos, burritos and Salmon Chimichanga and they do not disappoint. My main issue is the wait time. I have been there on several occasions where I see the waiters and cooks talking to each other and something so simple as tacos can take upwards of 30 minutes to be served. Good god. An absolute abomination. The food is flat-out disgusting. The one time I went there my order never came. I waited an hour while my friend finished their food. The manager handed me my shrimp "fajitas" to go... without tortillas. Had to wait another 10 minutes for those. When I got home I opened it to find 4 dry overcooked shrimp, served on sad, soggy bell peppers. And that was it. That was all there was. Visited this spot a couple times for lunch and the experience was ok. On my visit today the experience has me rethinking any future visits. I ordered the lunch special and asked for some more pico d Gallo which comes with the chips served along with the meal. The waitress informed me that i would be charged extra. I proceeded to tell her that I was here last week for lunch had the same meal requested extra pico and wasn't charged. She rudely replied the waitress who served you must have props with the kitchen! The house margarita was bad, too much simple syrup and it was watered down. The tacos (I ordered Barbaccoa, carnitas, pastor) all of the tacos where very bad. The meat was dry and so so so unseasoned , the soft taco shell was tough and unpleasant. I was very upset and had realistic expectations for this place. I don't normally leave negative reviews; I don't like to be harsh. But I could not find a redeeming quality to this place. read more

Went to this place on a Thursday night.....it was great...its a in the cut spot. Perfect for lunch or a brunch or date night. I had the empanadas and it was so good corn outside and shrimp inside. Wow so good like omggood...:then i had the salmon with coconut rice? The coconut rice was no bueno like it taste like pudding / im jamaican we make coconut rice which is called rice and peas and its not sweet like candy- hence my distaste of it. We ordered six chicken wings for $10 - they were tiny, drowned in sauce, and had more feathers (full feathers) than meat. I called to let the restaurant know within a few minutes of delivery and the woman I spoke with said they were out of wings for the night and offered to refund the $10 for the six wings. She would do it by the end of the evening. The next day I called to check on the credit, the person I spoke with wasn't working. Called 2 days later and the manager said 'I don't care what you were told, not giving you a credit.' Yo!? Really. I know this end of Bed Stuy is short on dining options but honestly - this type of service is the reason these places are here today and gone tomorrow. Boo to you Sonora! Boo. A friend of mine brought me to Sonora to enjoy some tacos. I really wish they wouldn't have. Everything started off good. We were welcomed and seated immediately. We were a little upset we had just missed happy hour which ended at 7 ( we arrived at 7:12). A gentleman came and took our drink order followed by a woman who took out food order. She also asked if we wanted drinks but we told her that order was already taken. The drinks came soon after and we sat and drank and talked. Roughly around 7:45 we began to notice that we had not gotten our food or even been checked on. We then began to see food coming out and going to tables of people who came in well after us. Burritos and other dishes coming out before 3 tacos was a little crazy.we asked our waitress what was the hold up and she told us another 6 minutes. At this point we were furious and decided we would rather go somewhere else to eat. We then asked to speak to a manager which the waitress told us there wasn't one we could speak to. She didn't care to try to solve our problem and didn't seem interested that we were visibly upset. This was at 8:05. We left highly disappointed and angry at the service. Came here with my husband for date night. We ordered shrimp tacos, chicken tacos and hot wings. Food was good. We each ordered margaritas which were good also. They were not watered down at all. The reason I gave the place 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the service. We were seated right away, but no one came to take our order until about 20 mins later.
