El jefe tacos - downstairs food court
    Marilu S.

I went to El Jefe Tacos located in the downstairs food court. I ordered just one taco because I just wanted to try out their tacos. I ordered an Al Pastor taco, it was incredibly delicious, filled with so much flavor, hot sauce, pineapple and meat. I had something beforehand so that's why I didn't order more but it was definitely a delicious taco experience. I would recommend coming to this food court to try out the Mexican food here at El Jefe tacos. The ambiance is chill and laid-back since this restaurant is at the food court. The service was great. It was a little busy when I came here. So my order took a little long to be prepared and be ready, but it's understandable. They were busy during dinner time. 10/10 Mexican restaurant recommendation.

With so many options to choose from at Dekalb Market this is my go to taco spot whenever I'm there. Tacos are always delicious. Staff is super friendly and service is fast. I tried their rice bowl with carne asada and shrimp. The rice bowl is packed with flavor. The rice bowl either comes with a side of tortillas or a side of tortilla chips. The carne asada and al pastor tacos are my favorite. I have yet tried their drinks at the bar. I heard they make great margaritas.

Keepin it real out here in Brooklyn the taco game is not easy to master in NYC but this spot is nailing it. Pricey but cause the area isn't cheap, but the food def delivers. Kitchen is out in the open, workers are nice, vibe is good, solid spot for tacos

Tacos were really good, enjoyed the carne asada a lot. The chips were over fried but the guac was good. The elote was undercooked unfortunately and the mayo was quite odd tasting. We got the shrimp torta as well and wasn't a fan. Perks are that it's open late and has a bar. Drinks looked decent

Bartender is always a pleasure to talk to, it's relaxing to sit at the bar and have some drinks, food is good but I didn't order any this time. Just margaritas which are quite strong after you haven't drank in a few months.

I stopped by Jefe tacos for the first time and I ordered 3 steak tacos. Staff was friendly and the steak was seasoned, maybe a bit salty for my liking. However, I would be willing to try other menu items to see the difference in flavors .

We haven't tried the food but the drinks are great. We had the spicy margaritas. Service is quick. Love that I can take the drinks to another spot. Or bring food from other places n eat.

Tacos are superb with amazing flavor! I ordered 2 Al pastor tacos with cheese and topped it off with lime and salsa! Flavorful and salsa was also authentic in flavor

Really enjoyed the tacos here, had so much flavor, very delicious! It wasn't too busy for dinner time and we got our food fast. They also have fun drinks that I didn't get to try but will be back next time!

I got a mushroom quesadilla here and it was delicious! It was reasonably priced for NYC and it was full of cheese and vegetables and it was really flavorful. I would recommend this place for a quick lunch or dinner!

Going down to the Dekalb Market I usually just pick one thing; like a little child who always wants French fries. But on this lovely day I discovered that they had a woman in the basement making hand pressed tortillas and that they were grilling meats on a spit! I was mesmerized and needed parts. So I waited in a decent line and wondered the whole time and smelled and happily ordered a $12 marg which should have cost 6 and it absolutely SLAPPED!! I almost forgot how good these tacos were. There is so many things to choose from don't be like me and miss out on the bomb tacos. Al Pastor for the WIN with a Mango Marg which the perfect compliment absolute must have. Seating is a bit complicated- so find a spot and cop a squat no assigned anything and I think they had one table they everyone kept bumping into so sit somewhere else. 5/5 highly recommend in the basement of Dekalb Market- I hope you find it.

I went on a Friday evening around 9:30pm. It was still fairly busy inside, but it was mostly people grabbing to-go orders. After ordering I snagged a spot at the counter. There's extremely limited seating, so I wouldn't bank on eating at the restaurant when it's busy. Be prepared to take your food to go. I got the Nene's Deluxe, which comes with a taco, a mulita, and an empanada - all with Birria of course. It was all delicious. The mulita was at the bottom of the box and got completely soaked with Birria. It was extremely messy to eat. Get plenty of napkins. I also got a side of fries and nacho cheese, because it was a long week and I deserved it. They had a seasonal strawberry horchata as well. This was okay. I also think I might just not love horchata in general. This meal definitely hit the spot. The Birria and consommé were top notch. I would return in a heartbeat.

I tried something different than my usual and went with the Adobada Tacos (Pork Al Pastor). The meat itself was spicy and a little rough, which leads me to believe it was maybe old meat. Instead of cubed, the pineapple was shredded which offered a nice touch. Unfortunately the actual taco got soggy by the time I ate it so I just picked out the meats and pineapple. There is plenty of avocado green sauce placed on top, which moving forward, I will request to be on the side to prevent the taco from getting soggy. Overall I probably should just stick to what I know/like so I'm willing to give this location another shot!

Our reservation was for 8:30pm, but we arrived early and Alejandra, the hostess, was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. Even though she was ready to seat us, we decided to hang at the bar until the rest of our party arrived and that was the perfect move. Alkarys behind the bar was top-tier. She recommended the Siempre Reposado, and let me tell you... smooth, clean, dangerously good. If you're into tequila, that's a must. Now let's talk about the food. We ordered the quesadilla, rajas, tamales, tacos, and the queso fundido and every single dish hit. The queso fundido came out bubbling, rich, perfectly melted with that pull you want when you scoop it up. The tamales were moist and packed with flavor, wrapped beautifully and clearly made with care. The rajas had that perfect balance of roasted pepper sweetness and savory depth. The tacos? Authentic, well-seasoned, and layered with flavor, no shortcuts. Even the quesadilla stood out, crispy on the outside with that perfectly melted interior. Everything felt traditional, elevated but still true to its roots. You can taste the authenticity. Service was attentive without being overbearing, the ambiance was super casual and laid back, the kind of Brooklyn spot you pull up to for a real dinner experience, not just a quick bite. Highly recommend this place if you're out and about in Brooklyn. Definitely coming back for the tequila, the queso fundido, and round two of those tacos. I'm gonna try eating at the bar to check out the spot in the front of the house.
