Stopped by here for taco Tuesday at 4pm. It was empty when we arrived but it got busy as the evening went by; both dining in and takeouts. It's not a huge spot but it has good amount of seating and it's not cramped. They also have 2 TVs, which is great because they were showing the soccer game I wanted to watch. Service was good and efficient. We were greeted soon as we walked in and told to sit where we liked. Someone came over shortly with menus and water. Our drinks and food orders came out pretty quickly and we were checked on often. We had the passion fruit margarita OTR and frozen. OTR is definitely better because the flavor was not blended/mixed evenly in the frozen, the flavor was separated on the bottom. We also had the guava and mezcal margaritas OTR. These were better. The mezcal is better in terms of "strong", the others tasted good but you didn't really taste any alcohol. We had the chips and guac to start. A pretty generous serving and the guac was good. We also had the pastor, carnitas, shredded chicken, and steak tacos. The pastor was by far the best. It was soo flavorful and yummy. Listen, Id you know me you know tacos are my love languages and I am really picky about where I partake. Recently started working in Bedstuy and was strolling the neighborhood and happened upon this spot. It was too late for me to order as my break was almost over but I was curious enough to read the reviews and was intrigued. It's a nice location with both an indoor and outdoor vibe. The block has good energy and the outdoor seating kinds of call you in. My first visit, I play it real safe and just order two crispy chicken tacos to go. It took about 10 mins and the staff was courteous. Bay-bee let me tell you, I ate them things like I was about to surrender myself to jail. They were finger licking good. A week later when a friend suggested we meet for happy hour, I suggested we meet here. It was Friday and we arrived around 5:30 to a packed bar, several large groups inside but plenty of outdoor seating. Since it was in the 70's late October we were happy to choose that option. I got the frozen sangria Margarita and 2 crispy chicken and she had guac and chips with the same drink. Once again, scarfed the tacos down. Drink was hitting and I left happy. Needles to say, I'll be back. I'll expand and try new things but it's clear that there are hands down in my top 4 and at that price point, that makes this place a real gem. I stopped in here on a Wednesday afternoon while waiting for a friend nearby. I sat at the bar. It was pretty empty inside, but there were a couple of people also sitting at the bar. Was put looking for something to eat and I was thinking Mexican. Passed one spot and had to go down some other blocks and came upon this gem. They had people outside and people inside. I ordered my food to go. I had the Bowl with shrimp and my boo had the grilled chicken taco and the beef one that stats with Barboa beef ( not the correct spelling). My three kids and I ate at Sonora this week. It has a really nice atmosphere and it's clean and friendly. To start, we ordered nachos with steak as an appetizer. Then we ordered a burrito bowl with pastor, and tacos with carnitas, shrimp and pastor. The nachos arrived after the entrees, and there wasn't much steak or cheese. They were expensive for what we got. The steak was bland and I was really in the mood for steak. The sour cream was a sauce. There was no salsa. And unfortunately, that was kind of par for the course with the rest of the dishes. One of the shrimp tacos had two small shrimp in it. The burrito bowl was largely devoid of pastor, maybe there were four small spoonfuls. There was a lot of finely shredded lettuce or cabbage, though, for all the dishes, including the nachos. The favor of the pastor was underwhelming. Which I didn't know was possible. Pastor is always so tasty. The lemonade and guava drinks the kids ordered tasted like they were made with a syrup and with the wrong ratio of syrup to water. When the check arrived there was an 18% service charge already added (we were four ppl). And then when we got the credit card receipt to sign there were options for 18% to 30% more in tip. So be careful to look at the bill before you add a tip. I think the place is busy because the decor is very inviting and there aren't other upscale restaurants around. Also, it could be a good place to have a beer with friends. Because what could go wrong with a beer. The bill was about $100. Of the five dishes, none of them was worth it. Sooo happy I found this spot!! Walked in and the mariachi music was blasting. Finally, a Mexican restaurant in nyc that understands the assignment. I had been craving a good Mexican spot and this place does not disappoint. I'm only docking a star because they do not have happy hour. I HIGHLY recommend getting that in order. We stopped by Sonora in Brooklyn mostly out of convenience--it was within walking distance, and we needed a quick bite before a concert. But wow, it did not disappoint! The frozen margaritas were incredible--super refreshing and strong in the best way--and they even offer them to go. My boyfriend ordered the burger, and it was insanely juicy. I went for the shrimp tacos, and honestly, they were the best I've ever had. We ended up taking some extra food to go and ate it after the concert--and somehow, it tasted even better the second time around. Customer service was super great. Sonora has an authentic Mexican menu and the food is pretty good overall. I'm not a fan of the ground beef burrito, it was very plain and basic, but also tasty enough that I finished the whole thing! Sad to say Sonora has officially become touch and go. Today I ordered salmon only to find that it was cooked like a brick-- chewy and overdone to the point of being inedible. The margaritas we ordered were also saccharine sweet. More or less a diabetic coma in a cup. When I asked them to prepare me a new piece management refused and told me I would be charged full price. Suffice it so say, my enthusiasm for this new arrival to the neighborhood has all but disappeared. F minus for customer service. this is one establishment where the customer is NOT always right. I am stranded in Brooklyn after a travel fiasco and got quesadillas and tres leches cake to eat on a friends couch. The quesadillas and rice and beans were amazing but the tres leches cake was the BEST I have ever had. My partner and I devoured it in less than thirty seconds and I made a Yelp account so I could review this cake. We leave on our third rescheduled flight tomorrow morning but I will be planning my next trip to Brooklyn soon just to eat this cake. read more

This was the most disappointing update I have ever had to leave. The service was atrocious. I arrive to the restaurant at about 11:00 a.m. and was the 1st person there. The to female servers that will on staff looked at me as if I was there to stand in the doorway as opposed to have a seat I told them how many they told me pick a seat. I waited for my friends to arrive and in the meantime ordered fries and water. In what world does fry's take 30 minutes? I glanced at these 2 servers numerous times over this time period wondering about the fries with no feedback visually over. When I finally called one over to inquire about the fries still took another 10 to 15 minutes. The explanation was the kitchen wasn't fully open. Ok. When the fries came out all the dishes for the other customers who arrived 15, 20 and 30 minutes after me also came out looking fantastic! The plates piled high hot and fresh. When my friends arrived in ordered steak and eggs and the other on omelette. Mind you my other friends have ordered these exact items before when I visited this place. When the food came out it looks as if we were at a restaurant that was plating in the master chef competition in the first weeks, where the majority of the plate with showing food overcooked and unappetizing. The runner was the only one with a smile. When mine arrived, which was later than the others, the chicken was actually still raw and bleeding. As for the fries, it's obvious that they haven't changed the oil with the flavor of old food settled in. My friends said the food tasted okay but the portion was half the size of other patrons. The waffle was rubbery, lukewarm and drenched with surup. No thanks. The only thing that still tastes decent was the mimosas which have now gone up two dollars, now $4 each for the same small flute. For $57 and note (and $2 tip when i usually 20-30%) we left hungry and said but at least I didn't get salmonella. read more

My bf has the sonara burger with the fries (even if the waiter/Tess doesn't ask let them know how you like your burgers done, he likes his medium rare, that thing came well well) the fries are amaze balls , I forgot to say the guacamole is fresh and amaze balls!!! I had the salmon enchiladas, I really liked it, I wouldn't get it again because I'm not a childa type of girl but I recommend it!
