Food- Tried the elote, wings, pina colada, nachos and ofc the tacos ! My favorite out of everything was the nachos. Tasted freshly prepared and was very delicious Service- slow and the restaurant wasn't full at all Ambiance- Cool artwork in the outside in the back. Lovely little joint in a slightly meh area we found at midnight after going to Secret Pour nearby to watch our friend's gig. We sat at the bar and were promptly served chips and salsa that were super delish. We ordered tacos Al Pastor and esquites. The corn was a touch too mayonnaisey, but overall great, and came as a huge portion. The tacos (3) were pretty good. Nice char to them. Looooved the service. The bartender had to wait on some wasted ladies nearby who kept spilling their drinks all over the bar, and he totally kept his cool and continued to smile. Huge points! Would return for sure. Tulum Brooklyn was a good vibe! This was a smaller restaurant, but a nice vibe. Our server was really attentive and very kind - even caught her dancing to the music at different times, which was pretty fun haha. The food was pretty good! The tacos were flavorful, however the shells were pretty hard, which didn't seem authentic to the actually birria tacos that I've encountered in Tulum/Mexico City on multiple visits. I also got some sushi that had steak and plantains on top and those were so delicious. I would definitely recommend getting the sushi for sure! read more

Very friendly staff! The restaurant itself isn't super aesthetically pleasing, but it isn't anything offensive. I visited while there was a birthday party happening in their secondary space, so if you're ever looking for a venue, I think it's a good choice. Margaritas were okay, wish they were sourer. I tried the birria empanadas - nothing outstanding. One of my friends got one of their sushi rolls and talk about overcooked rice - that was NOT a vibe. I do think there is a lot of area for improvement. If you're popping in for drinks, I don't think you could go wrong there, but the food is lackluster at best. read more

Was kind of disappointed in this place. The empanadas are super fried for starters. The Jamaica was good but nearly all ice so you don't get much (literally about 4 sips). The shrimp appetizer was pretty good but this was likely the highlight. I tried 3 of the Mexican sushi rolls and they were all a bit underwhelming and falling apart (not sure what I expected exactly tbh but the waitress recommended it). My friend said his tacos were just ok. I tried one and the chicken was a little dry. Maybe the margs are good here, idk, we didn't get any alcoholic beverages. The salsa was also pretty average and lacking any spice or flavor really. Lastly, this restaurant gets dinged an extra star from a 3 because the waitress brought out the check and BE AWARE - they ALREADY charge you an 18% gratuity and then don't tell you that it's on there, so if you don't check the bill after paying you run the risk of paying double gratuity which is VERY deceitful. I'm glad I checked the bill because I was shocked the bill was so high before I presumably left gratuity only to see the 18% was already on there and the waitress didn't make any mention of it. Due to this last point alone, I will not be revisiting. read more

A friend suggested I check this place out! We sat at the bar. The place was pretty crowded. The bartender Raynando was polite, courteous and great at his job. He was making drinks, taking orders and providing very good customer service. The vibe and the seating is comfortable and clean. The guacamole was made in front of us. And it was fabulous! The shrimp quesadilla was fresh and good. The shrimp were seasoned light and allowed the freshness of the shrimp to shine through. The horchata was good, really good! This is a restaurant with a seperate lounge and a backyard patio. The chic decor and beautiful artwork makes it a perfect place to dine and hang out with friends or on a date. The cocktails are great here and we have the Tulum Boat which had various appetizers. The appetizers wereSteak Tacos, Chicken Flautas, Esquites, Chicken Quesadillas, Mexican Roll, & Ruinas Roll. We substituted the Mexican Roll for the Tulum Brooklyn -QUESO FUNDIDO CON CHORIZO CANTARITO- tequila, citrus juices and tajin ALBORADA MAYA- Vodka, Passion fruit, Apple Liqueur The Tulum Brooklyn Roll was so delicious. Shrimp tempura, avocado, sweet plantain topped with grilled octopus, glazed with jalapeño. We also enjoyed the quesadillas and tacos. The Queso fundido was amazing!! Went for an early dinner with two friends on a Saturday with a reservation. Tulum provides both indoor and outdoor seating options. We chose indoors, but close enough to the back where we could enjoy the breeze. All of the staff were very warm and welcoming. There was great music playing at just the right volume where could all still hear each other at the table. Appetizers were fresh and came out quickly. The drinks (we all got margaritas) were strong and tasty. All of the entrees also came out fresh and they were able to make accomodations for our orders as requested. This was an amazing first visit, and I definitely plan to return soon! read more

Although the food was decent ( I got steak tacos), the service was subpar. Which was astonishing considering I was a party of 2 sitting at the bar. I'm assuming that's because gratuity of 18% is included w/ the bill. We had to waiting longer than I believe so to get some tacos and people who ordering/arrived after us got their food before us. I should have just left as soon as I was peeping the attitude. Very disappointing to get treated so unwell in your own neighborhood. Due to the fact we're were waiting so long the bar kept giving us chips and salsa. Unbeknownst to me they also charge for that. 10/10/10 : Food, Service, Ambiance ! I'd like to give a big shout out to Rinaldo & Eduardo (spellcheck). They were very kind and generous with their service. We just moved to the area and weren't sure where to eat and lucked out with Tulum Brooklyn!! Like seriously I think I just found my new favorite spot. Fun fact: They have a restaurant and a lounge in the same building that share a wall! You can host birthdays or special events too. The lounge has a bar and hookah if you're in to that as well. Now let's talk about the food: AMAZING! Imagine a Japanese x Mexican hybrid. We had one deep fried sushi role that was AMAZING! The guacamole was super fresh and made right in front of us and the rest of the food was delicious. Even the ambiance and decor was a vibe. The interior is beautiful and the outdoor patio is perfect for summer time. Another fun fact: The place just opened this year in April. They're still creating interesting new dishes and everything was so amazing and tasty and the best part is because it's so fresh, we didn't even feel bloated. We were vey happy and full! Honestly not what I expected but it ended up being really cool. Originally from ri we ended up just searching for this place on social media (Instagram). Ended up snowing here pretty hard but still came out and ordered the tulum boat, guac, birria roll, basil watermelon, skinny spicy margarita, regular margarita. The rolls in the tulum boat were interesting and something different. Drinks were well made and renaldo was slinging and waiting on tables; def not that many guys in here this night but probably because of the snow and it honestly didn't affect things for us at all! Tulum Brooklyn is a hidden gem. Location: This location of this establishment is on the outskirts of Brooklyn, so it can be a journey by train, especially if you are leaving this place late. Interior: The layout was smaller than I had anticipated. This was great for me because I do enjoy smaller and intimate settings. The booth seating is a bit small for someone who is a larger individual/s so a table seat would be recommended. Customer Service: I was greeted by a very nice lady named Laura, who escorted me to my seat while I waited for friends. She and entire staff were very friendly and attentive to the needs of mine and my friends. Wait time for the food was not an issue, probably due to the fact that it was empty, and it was in the middle of the week. The manager also made an appearance and brought our drinks to us. Ambience: Let me say that the music was phenomenal, especially for a quiet day like Wednesday. Every song that was played, I knew (Usher, T-Pain, Chris Brown, Drake, just to name a few). I don't know if it was a playlist, but it was outstanding. Menu/Food/ Meal Presentation/Prices: The menu was nothing extravagant, but it was not expensive I ordered steak tacos, and I will tell you that it was outstanding. I also order the Margaritas (Jamaican and a Strawberry), which were also outstanding. The prices for the drinks are fair for the taste and serving size, and you can also mix flavors as well (major points). Tulum will also get points for the presentation of the meals and the alcohol. I am interested in visiting the place on the weekends where they offer the hookah option and a big crowd. Overall, I would return and will highly recommend this establishment. Had an amazing meal and service at Tulum. We did not have the expected meal here. Hubby had the Ribeye with vegetables while I had the Cajun Salmon with Asparagus&Mash Potatoes. We were extremely pleased with both meals. The medium well Ribeye was juicy&the Cajun Salmon had just the right amount of kick! Had a regular mojito with house rum. This place is new, so I'm going to take it easy on them. If this place wasn't new, I would rate them three-star. I wanted to start there. I will break this down into a few sections: service, food, ambiance, and others. Service: 1. Wow, was this a struggle point for them. My partner and I walked in, and there was no host, so no one greeted us. You just look dumb until someone says find a seat anywhere. 2. We walked to the outdoor area because we have two dogs. The bartender picks up two cups from a table and says you can sit here. No one wipes the table. They just leave it dirty. I would like to say that I had to grab napkins and clean it myself because no one ever came to clean it. 3. No one came to take our order for 30 minutes. Once someone came, two more people came after that person to try to take our order as well. To be fair, they seemed to be very overwhelmed. However, the entire inside restaurant was empty, and the outdoor restaurant was busy. 4. Our drinks took over 20 minutes to no come. 5. The guac took over 30 minutes to come. 6. Our food took over 40 minutes, and they didn't give us utensils. I then had to find someone to help us get some because our waitress was nowhere to be seen. Food: 1. We ordered the guac, prepared in front of you, which came extremely fresh and very tasty! 2. We both ordered the steak, which was amazing, except mine didn't come with chimichurri like it was supposed to... mid steak is when I finally received it. Look at the pictures. 3. The drinks were great! I loved the coconut margarita and my partner loved the vodka Red Bull! Ambiance: 1. The outdoors is super cute, and little lights come on at night! 2. My goodness. The food here was on point. Little pricy but very good music and a positive energy. It is not quiet but feels happy and comfortable. Service was a touch slow however clearly the food was fresh. Our waitress was very attentive and proactively got things for my family. Extra water, napkins, silverware when one dropped. Quite on point. I got the fajitas, they were zesty and came with enough tortillas to finish the entre which is rare. This is a real great find. We were looking for a place to eat and drink before a show down the street at Market Hotel, and stumbled on this place, and we could not have been more pleased! The food was all very fresh, including the shrimp who freshness is most important, but the vegetable burrito was amazing and full of peppers and great beans as well, and the guacamole made fresh in front of you is very tasty and great, and that corn is sweet and scrumptious. The cocktails were strong, the tequila selection is impressive, and everything tasted amazing. They have a very nice patio, but the indoor ambiance is great as well, and I love the mural artworks.
