I loved Sonic when I was in Berkeley. great service, affordable, and very fast connections. On top of all that they aren't evil. I grew up with my family having to take abuse from the cable company, they had a monopoly back then so they could treat eveyone like garbage and rip them off. So even today I will never give a cable company my business. Then I moved to SoCo, I love it here but I am out in the country and options were poor. For a number of years we got our internet access from a makeshift antenna on our roof pointed at a cell phone tower. We were lucky to get 60 Mbps and we were paying too much for that. But now Sonic has come to our rescue! Glory! Hallelujah! 10,000 Mbps at less than half what I was paying before. These speeds are beyond the capabilities of most devices even. read more

Had great service from the 2 workers as they were able to move the fiber optic cable through very fast. The value of the internet is really good as $50 for 10 gigs is the best bang for your buck to this day as Spectrum charges almost $100 for 1 gig. For me, I am in a dead zone where basically only spectrum works here and the internet has been having outages more than twice a day. Sonic has not had that problem and is much faster. read more

Sonic is the fastest internet I've ever had! I just moved into a new place and was undecided about who to go with for my internet service. After talking with friends and doing some research online, Sonic seemed to be the answer that kept coming up. And I couldn't be happier! I was just telling someone about Sonic and remembered how much I love them so I'm writing this review. This is literally the best internet I've had in my entire life. I have the eero routers too idk if that makes a difference. But the speed is incredible, the internet has NEVER gone out, and the price has I think stayed the exact same since I signed up (less maybe a promo of like $10 I had year 1). I've had comcast and then monkey brains because support local, but eventually had to switch to Sonic and I LOVE this company. read more

I signed up for Sonic expecting reliable service and professional communication. Instead, I've spent over a month waiting for internet installation with virtually no meaningful updates from the company. After scheduling an installation appointment that was already weeks away, I waited the entire month only to receive a call on the day of the appointment informing me that it was canceled. Not only was the appointment canceled at the last minute, but Sonic couldn't even provide a new installation date. Their answer was essentially, "We don't know when it will happen." The most frustrating part isn't even the delay itself--it's the complete lack of communication. For over a month, there were no proactive updates, no realistic timeline, and no effort to keep me informed about what was happening. If there were permit issues or construction delays, why wasn't that communicated earlier? Why was I allowed to wait weeks for an appointment that apparently couldn't be fulfilled? What makes this even worse is that Sonic offered no temporary solution whatsoever. If fiber installation was delayed indefinitely, they could have suggested an alternative service, temporary internet option, or any kind of stopgap solution. Instead, I was left completely in the dark and without internet service. When I called customer service to get answers, I didn't get any new information. The representative simply repeated the same explanation about waiting for a permit over and over again, without providing any timeline, updates, or accountability. Delays happen. Permits can take time. Customers understand that. What customers don't appreciate is being ignored for weeks, having appointments canceled at the last minute, and then being told nobody knows when service will actually be available. At this point, I'm left with no internet, no installation date, and very little confidence in Sonic's ability to communicate with its customers. Extremely disappointing experience. read more

I put in a ticket order and was able to get next day appointment between 12pm-4pm. The issue I was having was a drop or slow down in service. Technician "Vadzim Yesman" was amazing. He called in advance to let me know he was on his way! Got here and got started right away! He worked hard and non stop for about an hour and a half. Answered all questions I had. Wasn't gonna write anything, but saw that the owner wrote " fast, affordable access to the internet. No tyranny, no barriers. Internet freedom for all!." What a racket. The crap is fast (generally), but it's also $120/mo for 1 gig. It slowly went up from $80 w.o warning. They make me pay a monthy rental fee of $10 for 8 year old equipment. (That is, I've paid $1k for an $80 outdated modem). I'm not allowed to replace the equipment with a store-bought one or it won't work, though. My brother lives accross town and pays less than half of what I do for 10x the speed. I asked sonic about it and they said since it's just repackaged ATT there's nothing they can do about it. I reminded them that essentially my brother is getting more than 20x the deal I am and they told me that I could cancel if I wanted cus ya 'They don't make enough money off of me.' verbatim what the sonic guy said to me on the phone a few years back. Basically, for whatever reason, it costs them too much to maintain the lines out here.... It really seems like they want me to cancel -- at least they're not generally concerned to lose my business. I know if I look it up, none of my neighbors can get sonic. About a year ago, I changed debit cards and forgot to update the number through sonic. My payment was 2 days late --- 2 DAYS LATE --- and they sent me an email saying my internet was cancelled and that I couldnt turn it back on. I payed it that moment, hoping it would work out and it did. Customer service is hit of miss. The ATT folks they send are great, sonic's own online chat folks are p terrible. I asked the most recent one for a call/appt 4 times during the chat and he pretended he didn't understand. I then asked his name a few times but he refused to tell me and then ended the chat. From what I've seen online, this seems to be a theme -- Sonic workers who won't reveal their first name to customers for fear of complaints. The last phone guy was p attentive and helpful though. So yeah, standard mega company bs. It's always about money. read more

loved sonic when had them, but be wary if you ever move! Small business that somehow got thrown into enterprise through the 10 years we had sonic. Took 1.5 weeks to get a call back with multiple attempts, prior to move. Over 9 weeks after move out for number porting and it's been an additional 2 more weeks and still don't have return label for the equipment, we moved from old address almost 3 months ago. Oh and I was billed for the service after moving for 2 months. Wish I could get paid for the hours and hours this process has cost me.. a small business owner. read more

My street is mostly Sonic, it's what we all recommend to any new neighbors. The internet service is fast and reliable, upgrades are painless. And if something does happen, e.g., your favorite paint crew manages to destroy the fiber optic cable to the house, a tech like Jimmy arrives at the house within a day or so and has everything working great again within minutes. Where Sonic particularly excels is when I play house-call IT support (NOT my skillset) to debug a neighbor's connectivity issues. Sonic phone support is always very good-natured and patient when I call and explain it's not my service account nor my address nor my mobile phone for verification and I put the neighbor on the call and prompt her as she responds to Sonic's questions. I ran into an unexpected difficulty with a roommate moving out and change in Internet account holders. This butterfly effected into a bunch of problems with the routers. I called customer support for help. I spoke to Adrian and Christopher. In summary, the solution is waiting for access to the portion of the unit (the unit is split between two separate residences). Adrian was very kind, which is why I gave two stars. I'm writing this review about Christopher. He was rude and dismissive on the phone. I was asking questions to try and have a better understanding what was going on. He was quick to rush me off and gave conflicting information from Adrian. I have been paying a sonic bill for 2.5 years now and it was very frustrating to feel dismissed and talked down to. read more

My experience as a Sonic customer was positive until I moved out of my apartment and mailed my two routers back through their equipment return process. Sonic charged me $300 claiming to only have received one router when both were placed in the box. They are unable to provide any documentation of the missing router. Each Eero 6 router weight .66 lbs, and my package weight was 4.7 lbs with both routers and their power cables. Only one router would not have resulted in this package weight, but Sonic insists they only received one. read more

Wow! I feel so lucky to have service from Sonic! My WiFi went out two days ago and then customer service on the phone helped so much to trouble shoot. Rafael Granados-Berrios first called to tell me his schedule so I knew when to expect him. Then he came to check about the problem. When it was determined that it was my fiber cable, in a half hour, Rafael had a team with two trucks came and installed new fiber cable. Everyone was friendly and patient with all my questions. And within 36 hours of losing WiFi it is back up. What a value for the my monthly fee. I highly recommend this company and its services. read more

The quality was ok but the customer service is way off! There is no longer customer service anymore! Over charges price is supposed to stay the same! I kept getting overcharged ! Canceled and had a death in the family I misplaced the device , they don't let you drop it off to them you have to mail it back to them, I found it in 2 months and they said too bad it's in collections and there is nothing we can do ! I am besides myself they want me to pay for this shit it's no good to me for over 200 they ripped me off the whole time I was a customer by over charging me every month.
