Frank from Worcester MA - Having not moved in over 11 years - the property manager has delivered a 30 day day notice to vacate premises,.Owner wants to sell property. I researched on the web, friends, colleges for a new location as well as a reliable mover, no help. I contacted many of those highly profiled - first hyper-linked moving companies in the web listing. I filled out the questionnaires/inventory lists, and the original quote more than doubled (I had allot of items). I attempted to secure an estimator, from several companies - they need 4 weeks notice - I am down to 20 days can only get an estimate (Guesstimate - effectively leaving the estimate wide open), still cannot find a residence. Moving June 1, 2014 is a Sunday, some movers do not move on Sundays, others want double time, Quotes climbing - travel time from office location to office location, Boxes, how many blankets - other fees. Heated inquiries by phone with potential movers, my God I am just moving across the city (3.5 Miles - 1st promising place I looked at - the former tenets were needed bank papers (Purchase) processed )), not across the nation, (I am spinning - no residence - no secured mover - need to negotiate with employer for time off - need to contact utilities - need to find boxes - need to get to US post office - address change notices-......). I went back down the movers list - Son Light movers, hmm ( My first impression from the name, was this outfit probably has a van and 2 guys) - I called. Geoffery answered, "Sure I can come over and give you an estimate, when would it be convenient?""How about 1/2 hr?" (This is at 6:15 P.M - he will shoot me down but I will negotiate for tomorrow). Sure where are you located? (Wow - this guy must be hungry.) Geoffery "You can call me Jeff", did a walk through the apartment - making suggestions, asking what I would be packing, what I would need help with. What I expected from him. We ended up at the foot of the driveway with a Time commitment about an hour later. A fat rate rate per hour and an estimate of time. I told him I really did not have a place to move but had an appointments to look at several places during the week - so the verbal commitment and handshake was tentative. I promised to keep him informed. Things worked out on the first place, I called Geoffery, "It's on for the first - the address is xxxx" , " Ok - I'll be there". Geoffery showed up right on time, with 2 trucks (14'& 24' Trucks) and 4 guys. They loaded the 1st truck with the some of the large furniture and appliances to the new place as soon as the truck was loaded. My son followed with his car loaded with frozen food from large Upright freezer and refrigerator. Geoffery had 2 more guys show up just as the first truck left to supplement the 2 remaining guys. The first truck and men unloaded and setup appliances and furniture and went off to another job. Geoffery rolled up his sleeves and started helping when the first truck left. We packed the items in the second truck and successfully moved the remaining items. About Geoffery's operation - There was an experienced knowledgeable mover paired up with a younger mover. The experienced movers gave directions when going through the doorways/corners or stairs, packing the truck, wrapping items. The crew helped (Welcomed Unasked where ever I was when they passed me). My job wa the sweeper (I am sure they would have done that as well - so I hung onto the broom and dustpan). I supplied snacks and energy drinks (Alliterative motivation), of my own violation. No request or provision was made or expected They never took a unified break and it was hot that day, stopping only to take a quick drink, a handful of munchies, wipe their brow and back at it. Nothing was scratched or broken including the floor and walls or furniture in both places. Settling up, I was so surprised at what Geoffery requested (About half what I had guessed from other mover's guestimates, I was able to give all the workers a very well deserved tip. The clock started when the crew arrived, and stopped when the last item was put in place. There were no hidden fees - and Geoffery supplied all the blankets and wrapping plastic. Geoffery was very approachable, my son bantered with Geoffery and his crew so much we were all laughing, it was like moving with extended family members. About the Author - I was overwhelmed in issues, after 11 years I knew nothing or had forgotten the idiosyncrasies about moving. Being a senior citizen I knew I could not do it with just my son. The few friends that approached and received commitments from came up with forgotten obligations as the time became closer to moving day. I knew nothing about Geoffery or any of his employees. I never received or was promised any gratuities for this endorsement. Just completed my second move with Geoff and his team and am so pleased with their service! 2 years ago I was referred to Son Light Movers and was so satisfied with their efficiency during that move I knew I could rely on them again. I contacted Geoff via email about a week before I wanted to move since my moving plans had changed last minute and he was able to accommodate my request with no problem. Scheduling the move was quick and easy with just a phone call confirmation from Geoff. On the day of the move he showed up early and was even able to accommodate an additional stop during my move from Brighton to Dorchester to drop off my couch at a friend's house. Throughout the process Geoff was so easy going and professional. I didn't have to worry about anything! I know the process of moving can be stressful but from the time Geoff showed up I was completely at ease. They handled everything with extreme care. You can tell Geoff takes pride in the moving process and makes sure everything arrives safely to your destination. Geoff and John were absolutely fabulous. My wife and I commented that we have never seen two people work so hard or so fast! We were moving into an apartment in Boston and had very little time to get unloaded due to constraints with parking. Geoff responded appropriately and he and John unloaded our 16 ft truck in an HOUR AND TWENTY MINUTES with two flights of stairs!! He brought any moving equipment that he might need, was incredibly professional throughout the move, confirmed the move the day before and kept us up to date on his exact arrival time. His initial quote was also the cheapest for two hours of work that I received and worth every penny and more! Lastly, they were unbelievably careful with our belongings and helped us to put the bed together at the end. It is obvious that Geoff has years of experience in the moving industry and being a small business owner takes incredible pride in his work. WOW, I can not say enough GREAT things about Geoff and his helper John. First I spoke to him on the phone and was only looking for a mover to relocate a sleeper sofa from Charlton, MA to Southboro, MA. I spoke to him 24 hours prior to the day I got off at the last minute. He gave me a fantastic price, 8AM arrival time at my mom's in Charlton, he arrived 5 minutes early. My mother called me to say, he was FANTASTIC, she in in her 80's and would give his name and number to anyone she knew that needed help moving. They text me to say from Charlton their ETA time and then sent me another text 10 minutes before pulling into my driveway. Very polite, wonderful to talk too, I would use them again in a heart beat. Geoff and co. moved me from JP to the North End on a hot Thursday morning. They were very friendly and polite and went out of their way to make things easy for me, including: showing up a few minutes early and helping me tape up my boxes, being flexible when my timing had to shift from early to mid morning due to parking restrictions, and giving me a ride to the new place since I didn't have a car. Both my old and new apartments have narrow front doors, making my couch difficult to move in and out. However, they handled this intelligently, efficiently and without complaint. They were careful with my breakables and about making sure I was okay with where they placed items in my new apartment. BEST. MOVERS. EVER!! Geoff and Samuel were the nicest, most professional movers I have ever seen. I originally told them it was only going to be a few pieces of furniture, but the day before the move, my niece who was supposed to take the bulk of my stuff, bailed on me. Last minute I had to ask Geoff if it would be a problem and he didn't even think twice about it. They got all my stuff, even some last minute boxes I didn't ask him to do, to my new place in record time. The one problem they encountered was getting a couch into my basement. Did they leave it?? Nope, they figured out they could lower it from the balcony and bring it in the basement door. I was beyond amazed at the work they did. Geoff, Luis, Roberto, and Sam moved a precious player piano from my childhood home to my current home, which was no easy feat! Geoff and Roberto had to make two trips to the house, first to see if they could actually fit it through the doorway and then the second with extra help to get the darn thing up the bulkhead stairs. They did a great job and they were very pleasant and nice to deal with. Two other companies I called said "no way that piano will ever come out of there" when I described how it had been delivered before the stairs were put in. Geoff was the only one who said "Let me come there and take a look." and when he realized there was only an inch to spare, he said "I'll come back with two more guys and we'll give it a try." AMAZING!!!! Geoffrey and his 2 man crew, were early to my home, and reviewed things promptly. They went through what was to be moved and what was staying for roommate! When all things were defined, they Immediately got to work! Had all moved from one house to another, unloaded, and pulling away within 2 hours! Even took the time to wrap mattress in plastic completely before putting on the truck. took the time to remove light bulbs out of the lamps to be sure they did not break! Excellent movers!! Geoff was very good about accommodating my many time and date changes at short notice. He and his assistant were prompt, professional, friendly, courteous and exceedingly helpful, taking care of small details as if it were their own furniture! They dismantled my bed frame and shrink wrapped all the big furniture, including the mattress and bureaus. I didn't need to empty any of the drawers either and they carried everything from my 1 bedroom apartment down 2 flights of stairs very carefully. Geoff was also very patient and spent a lot of time with me to answer my many questions and help me with other details such as dismantling my hammock swing from the porch, etc. I would strongly recommend Geoffrey and his crew and would not go anywhere else for my next move. read more

These guys are amazing. They moved me into my first home and they were friendly, professional, and one time to the exact minute (I kid you not). They were also very cost effective and worth every penny. They were very careful with all of my items and even brought them to the exact room and spot I wanted. Every box was treated like it carried the Holy Grail and each piece of furniture was handled with care. They also noted any defects they saw before moving them to avoid any issues (I had friends move them into a storage unit and they were not particularly careful, but that's what you get when you pay in beer). We had a fairly small job, but it meant a lot to us: moving a corner cabinet from our garage to our dining room. This was a family heirloom and meant a lot to us - unfortunately it was too heavy for my wife and I to move safely, so we contacted SonLight. Geoffrey and Curtiss showed up as promised and moved the cabinet in less than ten minutes. I cannot remember meeting two more pleasant, professional, and courteous people - I only wish every organization we worked with were half as good! Geoff helped me move a couch, full size mattress, futon, and a few other larger items into a condo building that was VERY particular about how things could be moved in and when. He arrived early, was incredibly friendly and helpful, explained what his plans were and why, and was overall wonderful to work with. I was highly anxious about the moving process and Geoff eased my worries instantly. At the end of the move, the condo staff were very pleased with Geoff's work (which I hear is quite unusual...) and asked for his card in order to use his services again. We've used SonLight Movers twice now and can't say enough good things about them. Geoffrey and his staff are professional, kind, patient and do an excellent job! They moved a baby-grand piano for us about two years ago, and just yesterday moved a second piano and some large furniture pieces for us into our new home. Both times we were impressed with how they made things so simple for us. They are so very careful at packing and wrapping each piece for transport, even for the short distance we were moving them. I needed furniture and electronics moved within my home. Geoffrey and Luiz were extremely helpful, polite and professional. They had to remove the backs from my large recliner couch and take photos off the hallway walls to move the couch into another room. They put everything back exactly like it was. They went above and beyond by asking if I had felt pads. Geoffrey cut and placed them on the bottoms of my couch and large buffet so that the hardwood floor would not be scratched in their new location. They reconnected both TV's and components and made sure everything was working well before leaving. I highly recommend them both. read more

Great experience. I only signed up for a move the night before on various websites. Geoff was quick to respond. Even after usual business hours, he was kind enough to schedule a job with me. On the next day, the move was quick and easy. They were professional and friendly. I only had a few things to move including a large mattress and a TV, and they did the whole thing in about an hour including the driving. They also cared enough to stay and help me throw out some furniture in the apartment I was about to move in to.
