Also Items missing ie: tools when our Household Was delivered to new address, they stored items for two Nights and leather furniture arrived damaged likely because these idiots fell OFF the ramp Of the truck carrying furniture into house. My move was from SE Mass to Worcester County. Although they did arrive earlier than l thought we had agreed on, John proceeded to scope out the situation and set his associates to moving things out, in the rain. They even made an extra stop at my daughter's house to drop things off. They even took some things I packed while they were working. Upon arrival, they managed to get the truck into my teensy tiny driveway. They assembled some mirrors onto dressers using their own screws. Price was very reasonable. The movers arrived on time. They were very careful, polite and professional. Set up at my new home was excellent and they made sure I was satisfied prior to leaving. I was charged the price I was quoted. I would like to add, during the move one of the movers handed me a red envelope with my name on it, it was not sealed shut. He told me he found it on the floor. A few days later I opened the envelope and it contained 2-$100 Visa gift cards. He could have easily opened the envelope and taken the cards. I was extremely impressed that he was so honest. Many in Grafton have recommended them and under normal circumstances, they seem like they do a good job and their employees are great. But when things go wrong they go way wrong and do not have any compassion or understanding of customer service. My truck broke down after loading. That stinks and it happens but what made that worse is that the truck broke down nowhere on the route from my apt to my house (my address was written on a scratch piece of paper) AND the dispatcher did not give them my phone number. So they were headed to the wrong house (Kay St. instead of Kaye Circle) then broke down then could not contact me. I circled back on the route but could not find them because they were out of the way. I call their office and no one works in the office on Saturday and the driver did not give me his contact info. They had the youngest guy on the job walk all over town to the wrong house - then to the right one to let me know what happened. When they finally arrived with the new truck, repacked backwards, they said "Melissa, do not worry, we stopped the clock at 2.5 hours when the truck broke down" I assumed this to mean they were going to eat the cost of unloading as a concession for the 3 our delay in an "in-town" move. The truck being stuck for 3 hours meant my "helper" for the unloading had to leave when the truck just got there and I was alone trying to manage making sure this mess was put in the right floor. I am disabled with a bad knee and I can't move stuff from one floor to another. They then proceeded to rush the unloading which was now all packed backwards because they unloaded the broken down truck onto another truck so the unloading was a mess. It had been organized so things on the main floor would come off and then the basement stuff. Also the box with all the hardware for the beds was put on last but then got moved to the back of the new truck so it was hard to find and delayed everything. The guys were admittedly tired and wanted the day over so they rushed and I was constantly finding stuff just put anywhere without them reading the labels. This caused everything to be delayed because they moved a lot of things twice. I also thought they were off the clock so when they started putting together beds I let them, not realizing I was mistaken. In the end they actually had "restarted the clock" and had charged me for all the extra time (not the broken down time which they calculated at 2.5 hours but was closer to three hours - but the other delays from the discombobulated stuff and the moving things twice) and blew my moving budget out of the water. They also charged me for travel time which I had asked about on the phone and my notes say they said none but they did not send an official quote or contract so I have no proof. I did dispute the travel time and they did not charge for that. I also go back to my apt last night to get some left behind unpacked things and find 1/3 of a closet was not emptied. They asked if it all goes, I said yes, they closed the door and I assumed it was empty. More for me to move. I called the office today to have a discussion and let them know that the guys were great but that a lot of the problems did not need to happen (not having my phone number, address wrong, etc.) The email from my original online submitted inquiry was returned to me automatically with my correct address and phone number when they responded (simply to say call us) so I know they had it and they could have printed that out for the driver but that is apparently not their system. They also do not have anything in the form of a contract where I could have seen the travel time costs when agreeing to the job. Yes, I called expecting some accommodation for the hassle of the weekend. I paid the driver with a check (he left his phone at another job and could not take a credit card) because I knew he had no authority to make any accommodations. In my call today the replies from Philip Massad, Jr. included statements like, "I guess I didn't write your number down" and "we had to pay $450 to have the truck towed so how are we going to pay for that if we do not charge you full price?" and "we didn't have to move your stuff to another truck and bring it to you, we could have just had the truck towed to get fixed and you wouldn't have gotten your stuff until it was fixed on Monday or Tuesday." I did not get any sincere apology, I did not get any "we screwed up and have horrible systems for when these things happen". I obviously got no concessions. If you want a local company with hard working employees, I will say Massad has that. If you want them to have modern systems like contracts to protect both parties, electronic printouts of correct addresses and phone numbers and a manager who is available and accommodating when things go wrong, not Massad. read more

If I could give No stars I would. There's far too many details to list here, however I will say this; a guaranteed 2 hour job lasted 4 hours. One young man, one obviously out of shape smoker in his 60's(I'm 60) working at the slowest pace I have ever witnessed. I have moved many times in my life with capable men moving in a swift, careful manner. I tried to talk to them, reason with them and then anger. The response was defensive and smug. Never did I hear an apology of any kind. Phillip, one of the owners, on the the phone gruffly stated he has to pay his guys. He said it takes as long as it has to. He was going to stop the move if we didn't agree. I know I rambled on but in short, if you would like a professional moving service and team, do not hire this company. They lied and cheated. A coworker of mine recommended this company. She had just moved and had a great experience. Unfortunately I did not get the same crew she had. I got two older gentleman who were very nice, but had absolutely no hustle and I kept finding them on their cell phones, an absolute no! no! when being paid by the hour. Not only did they milk the job for all I was worth, costing me nearly 50% more than I budgeted, they unloaded my things wherever (boxes clearly marked bathroom in the second story loft, things like that). It been 6+ months and I still get angry when I think about it. In the moment I was so exhausted and vulnerable I didn't speak up like I should have, I was too polite in my urging them to pick up the pace. Even my neighbor, watching them load up my stuff with zero intensity said, "you got ripped off!". I feel they took total advantage of me. read more

I received a quote for 3 men at an hourly rate. I was charged an extra hour for travel time- was not told about this hidden fee. Movers arrived late and took numerous cigarette breaks, including a 25 minute lunch break. It was a difficult move down numerous stairs in high heat and humidity. Movers were professional, and courteous. They worked hard and were respectful of my belongings. if you hire, be sure to inquire about any hidden fees. I went with Philip P Massad movers because they were recommended by a coworker. That coworker had hired them for a move prior, and his brother had them move him twice, and from those three moves, they had an extremely positive experience. My expectations were high based on that, and they absolutely did not disappoint. They bill by an hourly rate, but the time estimate that I was given over the phone (based on my description of what needed to be moved) was completely accurate. They sent a large truck, and three men with it to handle the move. They were all friendly, and absolutely professional. They brought everything they needed, even with a few things for contingencies (quick disassembly/reassembly of furniture that wouldn't fit through doorways as is, et cetera). They worked hard, fast, and were careful to leave my furniture and walls absolutely intact. My wife and I both hope we never have to move again, but if we do, we're calling these guys again. read more

No one has ever taken that recliner piece by piece. That was a HUGE waste of time that cost me money. I've moved it and in fact the movers that moved it in the apartment had in in about 15 minutes. Not hours. So just admit they dragged this on for the money. You are a disgrace if you can justify the amount of time it took for a one bedroom move. I recently had to move my mother's belongings from New York to Massachusetts and was nervous about finding a reliable mover. I did extensive research and after getting about 8 quotes from various places in MA and NY I decided upon Massad Movers. There was another company slightly cheaper than Massad, but Massad's quote was still lower than all the others. Very competitive. I liked that they had been around for a long time, I see their trucks driving around Worcester, and they were accredited with the BBB. I couldn't have been happier with my experience. Two movers showed up on time at my mother's place in NY, moved everything efficiently, and showed up on-time the next day to drop everything off in Massachusetts. Outstanding from EVERY aspect. After having made arrangements with a notorious mover whom I FIRED on the spot, I contacted one of Massad's references to be sure it was valid. I had items which needed to be moved CAREFULLY. Their reference checked out. I called. Made a reservation. Obtained a quote and off we went. In the meantime I was called away to a family emergency and left someone else to supervise the move. All went EXACTLY as planned. They called before they arrived. We needed to hire a moving company when my girlfriend was moving into my house. After some research we selected Massad Movers as they were the only company in the area with an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Paul, Luke and Chance arrived exactly on time and they were very careful, due to the rainy weather that day, to lay down firm blankets so that the floors would stay clean. Despite two rooms full of content they emptied out everything in a half hour. They took great care to carry items and provided extra taping to dressers and shelving containers so nothing would fall out and break as well, so they showed their value of quality service over getting the job done quickly. In this reviewer's opinion, I feel they accomplished both. The drive was over a half hour and with the large truck, I was surprised to see them arrive so quickly. They immediately got right to work and took the same precautions that they took at the other end to ensure the floors stay clean. This time there were stairs with a tight corner involved which added to the difficulty. The biggest challenge was a 7 foot long dresser that I personally didn't think could fit up the stairs due to that corner and the low ceiling, but they found a solution that worked nicely. After everything was placed we requested exchanging the positions of the above dresser with another dresser in the same room and they quickly moved the two items without any issue. Their flexibility in our requests were very much appreciated as well as their patience and friendly demeanor. I would highly recommend this team to anyone moving in the Worcester MA or Marlborough area. Minimum hours you will pay for is 3 but the quality they provided in the work made it all worth it. My father had to move some furniture to my apartment and to my mothers house. We also had to move furniture from my mothers house to my apartment and to my fathers. We both agree these men are the most professional polite group and they did their job incredibly well. We spent 8am to 5pm with them. I highly recommend using their services. They unassembled and reassembled furniture without hesitation, and did everything quite smoothly. They used stradegy and ultimately alleviated a lot of stress we were having about today! I used them a couple of years ago and they were great at moving my stuff and being very careful with it. The only issue is they tried to over charge me. I called the owner and he sent me a refund check for the amount the crew overcharged me. Because of that I will use them again. I would never recommend Philip P. Massad Movers to anyone! Unfortunately the men who worked to move me and my husband into our new home were friendly, fast and thorough. Scheduling was terrible and we were given a time frame of 10:30-12:30 and they showed up at 3:30. My husband and I wasted an entire day waiting for our belongings and they did NOTHING for us afterwards. I will never recommend them to anyone. If you are looking to wait around all day for someone you pay to move then this is the place for you! If you don't care hearing that a job took way longer then expected and put you back three hours past then go with them. Horrible scheduling and customer service from management. Deserved a refund of $650 after all of this and got nothing! read more

I'm a little mixed in my review for them. The guys showed up on time and were very nice. They promptly emptied my apartment and moved us down the road for a reasonable price. As they were bringing in boxes, one of the movers was in the truck taking a cigarette break. Even though the furniture had been moved in, there were still boxes in the truck. However, there was something up with the propane heater in the house and one of the guys offered to take a look even though it's obviously not their job. The problem came when they were backing out of the driveway. They hit our mailbox and made it go sideways. I saw one of the men get out of the truck and try to fix it. I had to leave, but I assumed it would be put together by the time I got home. Well, naive me that didn't happen. My neighbor, who also shares a mailbox, called the moving company and they said they were going to send a check for repairs. I'll see how that goes, but it's a little perturbing that he had to call first, not the other way around. I can't highly recommend them, but I wouldn't dismiss them either. Just make sure to watch everything and protect your mailboxes lol. UPDATE: the moving company did send a check to my neighbor for the damage to the mailbox and apologized. read more

I have never had such a great experience with movers. Seriously! I had to move from East Greenwich, RI, to Worcester. I emailed Massad about the move and they promptly responded with a price range. They called during the week before to give me a time window for their arrival: between 11am and 2pm. There was a knock on my door at 10:58am, no joke, and I was completely settled in Worcester by 2:00pm. The movers were kind, courteous, and took great care with my belongings, some of which were very old and fragile..and dealt with some of my less-than-friendly neighbors with a sense of humor and courtesy. At the end of the day, the price was below what I had imagined it would be. Some companies would take advantage of the "long-distance" move to gouge on the prices, but they didn't! If you're moving in/to Worcester, these are the guys for you. Seriously worth every penny. Hard and friendly workers made the whole thing a dream. read more

Phil is more than flexible and worked with my family as the items stayed there much longer than anyone initially anticipated. Honestly, the movers did a good job, were polite and worked hard. However, I was really frustrated with all administrative aspects of this company. I e-mailed for a quote and was told to call the office in a one-lined e-mail with no greeting or customer service---fine. So, I call and schedule the move, get prices etc. I receive no confirmation and nothing in writing, so I call the Friday before (my move was on a Monday) and confirm the prices for a two-person crew. I tell the owner I prefer to get this in writing so there is no miscommunication on price and he says "these are our rates, the price isn't going to change." I verify that this is a small move and say "my destination is in Worcester so will you charge for travel time on both ends, because you're not really going more than 10 minutes." He assures me this will all balance out and literally said if they finish in a shorter period of time than the minimum, they'd just charge for that 3 hour amount. I say "okay, but if the price changes, we are going to have an issue because I'm calling now to verify this is what I will be paying." They show up with three people (not two!), and charge me for travel time before and after the move, resulting in me paying almost $200 more than what I was quoted even though the move didn't take longer than anticipated. The way they do business is shady and I wouldn't trust the owner's word after that. The second star is only because the crew themselves were great. read more

All of my boxes and furniture were carefully packed and placed in the truck and then arrived safely at my new destination. Before contracting with Massad Movers, 2 colleagues recommended them, and I had the same great experience! They showed up on time, were personable, and took great care with all of my belongings. It took less than an hour for them to load the truck at my house and less than an hour to unload at my new place (even dealing with an ancient elevator). Phil, the crew leader, was even familiar with the new building's policies on moving in, so I didn't need to worry. I loved that they took apart and then reassembled my bed and other furniture! I selected this company with little question after having several very positive reviews from people I know. They also have a good rating on yelp. Overall they did a decent job. I was moving a 3 bedroom townhouse with garage and basement level. We had emptied at least 50% of the contents of the townhouse prior to the moving company arriving as we knew it was a lot of work. We were moving to a new home less than 2 miles away. The new home had a walk-in basement and separate entrances for the first and second floor. They had 3 guys and a truck. They were able to make the move in 1 truckload. The cost was a little over $1400. So why the 3 stars? Because they did OK. Not outstanding. Not bad. "A-OK" which is a 3 start rating. Middle of the road and the price was substantial. I was expecting something closer to $1200 from prior discussions. Especially since we had already lightened the load considerably by pre-moving a lot. It also seems that one of the guys had an injury and repeatedly mentioned that he shouldn't be working but did so as they were short staffed and he didn't want to reschedule us. Meritorious? Perhaps. Seeking a "hardship" gratuity? perhaps. Less than positive. Yes. Then there was a bargain basement supply cabinet I bought new from Global. The cabinet was flimsy. I told them before the job that due to cheap construction it would fall apart unless they wrapped it top to bottom to hold it together. They didn't so it fell apart (I don't think they had the plastic wrap that would have been needed). Did they put it back together after arrival at the new home. No. Did they mention it fell apart? no. They also didn't want to dismantle a desk to get it through the doorway into the room where we really wanted it. We made due putting it elsewhere but may ultimately need to do this ourselves. In the past, I've used the friends and family plan which usually costs me a couple of pizzas and some Chinese food when we're done. I used professionals this time to save the backs of my friends and perhaps avoid some damage. I did buy this crew some pizzas and I did give them a tip at the end but perhaps not as large as normal due to being over-budget. If I had it to due over, I'd probably use U-Haul and some hired hands from their list. It probably would have cost me about half as much for an equivalent outcome. Still, they are not bad and worth consideration. This is the first time I've used movers and my expectations were high. Perhaps too high. So take everything I've said with a grain of salt. It's a novice perspective. But I hope it helps. read more

These are the best movers I have ever dealt with. It's been over a year since I used this company, but last night someone asked me if I knew a good mover, I said no, i know a GREAT mover. Last year we were moving from a large house in Southborough and relocating the contents between two condos and storage. The crew from Massad movers was there on time, identified what items were going to each location and went to work. These guys moved everything without damaging a wall or piece of furniture. At the other end they unloaded items at 3 locations, assembled what needed to be, etc. When all was said and done they presented me with an invoice that was surprisingly low for the amount of work I had watched this team do. If it's possible to make moving enjoyable. Philip Massad Movers have done just that. I called several times to confirm before the move date with assurance and detail from the company that all would go smoothly; it did. They arrived on time (10 mins early in fact) with 3 men, all neat, polite and courteous. They took great care with all my furniture and possessions. There were no scrapes or dings on the walls, no issues with getting the carpet dirty, and nothing damaged. They took down the beds and dining room table for me. They were fast and efficient. We then went to another property to get more furnishings and boxes and everything went smoothly there was well. They disassembled the sectional couch and broke down another bed. We then proceeded to the new property where everything was put where I asked. All furnishings were reassembled perfectly in the designated rooms. They finished earlier than I expected and I didn't have to lift a finger. They were very polite and even tempered throughout the move. The quoted price, which was more than reasonable, was exactly as expected. They left the houses we moved from and the house we moved to neat and unscathed. The only casualty of the entire move was a light bulb I broke myself, hours after they left. Honestly, dealing with Philip Massad Movers was a pleasure and I STRONGLY recommend them to all. terrible experience..... i hired them 9 years ago moving from worcester to shrewsbury and it went great, so i didn't hesitate to hire them for my latest move..... it was pouring and they did not cover any of the furniture....... mattresses were wet, living room furniture including fabric cushions were wet..... my cherry bedroom set and mirrors were water stained. my curio is both wood and glass and it was stained and covered in dirty fingerprints. i finally asked them to start coverning things, especially my flat screen tv. Also, there was an item missing from my bathroom. I spoke to Mr Massad who spoke to his guys, and they admitted to not covering the furniture, they said it was only drizzling. they also said they knew nothing about the missing item. I told Mr. Massad i was not happy about the water stains. His response was: "those stains will rub right out". I asked him to please come out and see the furniture, he said he was too busy.
