By far the favorite meal from our 4 days in Barcelona. Definitely order the Paella. So incredible! Our tour guide said to find a good paella it that takes 30-40 minutes to prepare, is served to a minimum of 2 people and there are no pictures on the menu. This place checked all 3 boxes! The service was outstanding the the restaurant was so adorable. They had all the tapas written in English on a chalk board which was nice touch! Having traveled on from Barcelona, we regretted not stopping in for one last round of paella! read more

Looked up best paella and this restaurant popped up! Cozy and nice environment. Service as expected like the rest of Barcelona but workers are very friendly and spoke great English. Personally not a fan of paella but their paella was amazing. Also, not a huge fan of red wine either but both red wines I tried were great. 10/10 recommend! read more

Had a wonderful meal in this cozy out of the way tapas restaurant. While we waited on the delicious paella we enjoyed the squash blossom stuffed with chevre and a share-able skipjack/bonito small plate with cream cheese on a pistachio cracker and fresh edible flowers on top. When the made to order paella arrived, we found it to have lots of seafood for two. This is a perfect, old Barcelona experience with lots of old world character. If you want to get two or three blocks away from bustle of tourist restaurants, this is the place. Friendly, good service. read more

This could easily have been a five star review, if not for one unfortunate dish. Most of the food was delicious. We got the crab "don't touch my eggs", queen clam ceviche and corn, wild boar with sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts, cauliflower with eel, butarga, and strawberries, sea urchin, and steamed wild cabbage and rabbit roll. The sea urchin came in a cleared out urchin and was incredibly fresh, not containing a lot of the unpleasantness that accompanies subpar uni. Their steamed wild cabbage and rabbit roll was delicious as well, not particularly gamy, which is something I always look out for when eating rabbit. The whole plate was full of umami goodness. The wild boar wasn't gamy either. The only issue was the queen clam ceviche. The first clam had a smell that actually reminded me in the moment of an open latrine. Being of the culture that willingly makes and eats stinky tofu, I decided to keep an open mind and give it a try, and it tasted about like what you would expect from the smell. Then, for science I picked up a second clam and it smelled fine and tasted citrusy and clam-like. Another person in my party also experienced a huge discrepancy in the quality of two clams, so it seems like some of them had gone bad. Luckily, neither of us had stomach issues, so even though it was bad, it wasn't dangerous. Still, be wary if you try this dish. It will be really obvious if a clam is bad. It's too bad, because the rest of the food was amazing. The waiters were extremely helpful and spoke good english, and they had every single dish written out in english on a chalkboard. It's definitely worth trying. Just be careful with the ceviche. read more

Nice locatie in the middle of Barceloneto in Barcelona. It has a great atmosphere and it looks pretty old. It's not very touristic, but the menu is in English. The tapas are really suprising. We had a tapa called Crab "don't touch my eggs". You have to try it. The steamed mussels were great as well. And you must try the sangria. The staff is very friendly. This place is much better then the tourist restaurants in the neighborhood. read more

Yes I found this hidden secret based on yelp review and it lived up to the expectations. Being American I expected bigger portions but this is Spain so tapas and normal size portions. Paella was amazing! Cap ipota de pollo con was good too. Catch of the day with potatoes was heavenly. Order two rounds of paella! Order a bottle of house since Staff was really accommodating of our sleeping toddler - chef made special dish for her since she's allergic to fish and nuts Ambiance is tranquil...soft lighting..background music read more

Our favorite meal in Barcelona! Despite being in touristy Barceloneta, this place is super unpretentious, has a superbly well executed menu and is flaunting a seafood paella that will blow your mind. Seriously, their paella is so underrated it's not even funny. Better than most of the well regarded paella specialty restaurants with a ton of umami and excellent socarrat. read more

The service and food quality were good. However, the price was quite high compared to other restaurants and portions were small. We spent €60 for lunch and was not full. They have English menu on the chalk board. It's not a place where the locals would hang out. It is aimed toward to tourists. I recommend getting skipping jack, rice with octopus and grilled mixed seafood platter if you were to dine here. read more

I didn't know what paella was before my Spain trip and Somo was recommended by a colleague for the best one in town. After a week trying various restaurants, I can confidently say that this was the case. I'm not a huge seafood fan, and given that this was a predominately seafood restaurant, I loved every single appetizer I got. Be ready to sample some tapas, as the paella, as told by our waiter, would take 45 minutes to make and we were the only ones at the restaurant. If you're looking for a restaurant near the greater beach area that isn't infested with tourists, then this is a delightful option. read more

There aren't enough words to describe this food experience! As a solo traveler I sat by the chef and he just kept the tastings coming. With 2 glasses of wine and about 4 tapas my bill was roughly $50. Definitely just let the waitress or chef tell you what to get. I'm not a picky eater. It's a tiny place so don't expect to come with a crowd. read more

Of course we Yelped this place and it was a HIT! We ordered the seafood paella for 16€. They let you know that it'll take at least 30-40 mins so we ordered a few tapas to hold us up until it arrived. Potatoes with spiced sauce tasted great, the potatoes were cooked and salted perfectly, the sauce was different from the others I have tired and it was delicious. The Sangria was strong, but smooth. As we were waiting for our paella the waitress was updating the menu as the fresh produce got delivered. Once the paella come, it was over! So far I'd say it's the best I've had here. It was cooked perfectly, the flavor was insane, the seafood was fresh. My favorite was the slightly burnt rice around the edges of the dish...crispy and full of flavor. read more

Wow. Where did this place come from? Tucked on a side street but def 'main street' food. Duck rocked. Loved the broccoli. Mixed seafood was adventurous and generous. If you like artichokes, the stuffed one is amazing. Only thing i wouldn't order again was the potatoes - but those were mainly for the kids anyway. To top it off wonderful, low key ambiance and easy going staff. read more

UNREAL! EAT. HERE. The dishes are Michelin Star quality and the wine is 3€. Our bill is was $86€ and I had 4 glasses of wine, hubby had 4 beers, 6 tapas dishes + desert for lunch on Sunday. It's the best place we ate in Barcelona and we were here for a week. Service was great and chef was cool and funny (we sat at bar and saw him cook everything.) Can't say enough good things about this place. read more

This is a really great restaurant close to the Barcelona beach area. The food is nothing short of perfect. We had the good fortune of being seated in an area where we could see the chef work his magic. Let me tell you everything was as fresh as it can get. The dishes are innovative gone right! We tried the charcoal grilled seafood, mushroom fritters, Tuber bravas, tomato bread, crab, crema catalana and persimmon icecream- not one dish was less than perfect. Highly recommended! read more

I loved Somorrostro. It was my second favorite meal in Barcelona. The menu is large, with plenty of amazing tapas choices. We ordered so many different things because it all looked so delicious! FOOD: 1. Grilled seafood mix was awesome; variety of clams, mussels, prawns. 2. Cod Fish Cannelloni with white beans was amazing. 3. Duck Magret with sweet potato and passion fruit was really good, but took forever to be served to us. Not sure if this dish takes longer to cook, or if the server forgot about it. 4. Black Rice with smoked Sardine and Rabbit was one of my FAVORITES! I can't believe how packed with flavor this amazing dish is, but it looks so boring! Don't be fooled, order this! 5. Red Shrimp from Barcelona was great, very fresh and juicy, however we didn't realize this was so expensive at 20EUR for only 4 shrimp. Opps. All the other dishes are half this price, so we should have noticed. 6. Steamed Mussels were great.. actually much better tasting than the mussels in the grilled seafood mix. And the sauce was wonderful, order bread to dip in the sauce. 7. Oyster with Passion fruit was very nice, raw on the half shell. 8. DESSERT: Burrata with Cocoa and Fig bread was amazing! I've never had a chocolate paired with burrata before. Very unique and so delicious! We didn't order the Paella because we ordered so much other food. But my friend who ate here the following day said it was fantastic, one of his favorites. Great find, great food, great prices overall. The staff was very nice and sat us with no reservations for lunch. But the restaurant itself is small, so I would imagine it would be very busy during prime dinner hours. Sangria was great too! Overall wonderful. read more

We found this place on yelp and debated taking an Uber 2 miles out to check it out, but we are so glad we did. They had a rotating menu of elevated tapas. The food was very fresh, and delicious. It was by far the best value of any of the food we ate in Spain-it wasn't cheap by any means, but food of this caliber would easily cost double in California. Hope they're still there next time we are in Barcelona! read more

Yummy! Definitely a small restaurant but good quality food and good service. The tomato bread was the best we had in Barcelona, tomatoes were grown in their garden. I also loveddd the octopus and sausage rice. read more

Great restaurant, location is great for a tourist visiting Barcelona for the first time simply because you get a "locals" feel. The food came fast and was extremely tasty. Service was okay, the chefs seemed to have more personality then the servers. One chef smiled and greeted me, another gave me a big smile and asked how many seats we need and the servers just kinda ignored us, but for me that's minor. I praise for the food and wine, two snaps for the servers. But I'll be back!! read more

Here on business. Solo. Yelp reviews led me here and didn't lead me astray. This place is absolutely perfect. The complete Catalan cuisine experience. The chefs here take absolute care for everything that is cooked. Sit at the bar and watch these culinary surgeons masterfully and tastefully create master pieces of food art. Even though I'm not a huge fan of octopus, it is a MUST HAVE. (Thanks to many that recommended it.). Deliciously cooked to perfection with potatoes/chorizo. The service here is impeccable and as a first timer they recommended the paella. The paella was outstanding. Not the yellow rice stuff you find in the states. This was cooked and carmelized to a state of deliciousness. The base bouillon is crafted and heats all day. For dessert. Try the Crema Catalán. Unique. One of a kind. Won't find it anywhere. This place is a must dine. read more

Seriously one of the best restaurants I've been to in Barcelona. Definitely my favorite meal. The concept of tapas is taken to another level here. Hypes: - LOTS of tapas choices. - Steamed mussels were good. - "Skip jack with pistachio and sour cream" was one of the best dishes we got - "potatoes with spicy sauce" - we got two orders it was that good - the potatoes come out sizzling on a cast iron and they stay there and get super crispy with the sauce crusted on it. - Padron peppers - always good - zucchini flower stuffed with cheese - wowzers - flat bread with tomato - you need to have this in this city and they made it amazing here - desserts - the yogurt crumble was very good -as was the crèma catalina - we usually don't get desserts when we go out but they all looked amazing and bc the food was so good we couldn't control ourselves - my husband got the oyster with passionfruit (I cant eat raw at this moment) but he loved it - get a seat near the kitchen so you can watch the chefs at work - awesome hipster vibe - great waitresses and service - so decently priced for the quantity and quality. Gripes: - I wasn't a fan of the "octopus with potato and chorizo" but my husband thought it was ok read more

40 Euros for an OK paella. Or 20 euros for one paella but you have to order a minimum of 2. Bread is not free. Portions are small. Food was not mind blowing it was OK...I'm surprised at the great reviews. This restaurant has to step up its game. I felt as though it was a tourist trap. Also the waitress said (after we questioned the 2 paellas charged) "it happens a lot to people." Umm then shouldn't you explain it before they order? read more

Great paella! Best of 3 that we tried on a two week trip to Spain. Much of the menu is locally sourced and organic. The Thai Green Papaya salad was one of the more interesting (and healthy) side dishes we were able to find on our trip. A little heavy on the dressing, but definitely fresh and tasty! This place is closer to 4.5, but cant commit to a full 5. A little pricey compared to some other equally tasty options in the area. read more

All the average to bad reviews are spot on. For the paella, they charge $20 per person while it is only meant to serve one. Flavor was ok, but I can't over the fact they charge $20pp for a pan that is meant to serve one. With the depth of the pan, they could have definitely put more rice at least... I mean it's just rice..c'mon. The skip Jack was delicious, I'll give them that but I'm still angry how much I paid. Paid over 60 for two tapas and one Pella and I am still.hungry. I won't be returning. Please heed the other bad/average reviews. Don't let those 5 stars fool you. Seriously. read more

SO delicious!! One of the best meals I've ever had, DEFINITELY the best paella I've had in my life. The seafood paella is a fairly large serving and we could see the chef make it in the kitchen to our peripheral (it is a little bit of a wait because of the process to make paella). However, in that time, we had steamed mussels as an appetizer as well as sipped sangria, which made the wait pass quickly! There are plenty of other tapa choices but we were in a bit of a financial bind (traveling student struggles..) The paella was fresh with lots of seafood and the rice was perfect -- not too hard or soft/tacky like in some other restaurants, and the ambiance was nice and homey. Definitely recommend checking it out! While a possible complaint could be that for a seafood-focused restaurant, it's not particularly close to the water, I am confident in saying that we didn't fall for the tourist traps by the water (like where the waiters kept trying to hand me a Chinese menu even though I definitely don't know what "paella" is in Chinese..) In addition, it felt like we were paying for quality and genuine paella meal, and not a touristy experience. For three more petite girls, the paella + mussels were sufficient but didn't make us 100% full. Would definitely recommend dipping into the other appetizers if you can afford to! read more

Amazing! Went here for lunch around 4pm on a Tuesday. It was our last meal before we returned home. And it was the best thing we probably ate in Barcelona and MORE. (We have been in Barcelona for about 5 days already) We got the mussels, oysters, clams w/corn, the rice with octopus, and the carob fingers. All were delicious. Our total was perfect. We wanted to continue eating but we're so stuffed. Definitely check this place out if you want amazing food, good service (shout to our host and I think owner, lowkey looked like George Clooney. He was amazing), and a beautiful location! read more

I really enjoyed this dining experience. The space is small and cozy. Definitely not touristy. Reasonably priced. Had a fish entree and a glass of white wine. The best restaurant experience I had in Barcelona. We cam for the seafood Paella and it did not disappoint. The other tapas were really good also. AVOID Pallea here, if you are American!!! This place does not provide a typical taste you are familiar with back home. I would not say it's authentic because I don't know how authentic tastes like. Or maybe this is just too authentic for me. I had much better Pallea with yellow rice elsewhere even on every crew ships I've been on . Rice here is not even yellow and it's just too salty, no other flavors at all and I mean it. Seafood on top was abundant and fresh but rice itself is just so poor. People here are either Yelp or TripAdvisor trapped. We also ordered catch of the day (8eur), red sangria (15eur for 1litre) and panna cotta (4.5eur). They are ok but not worth the money, especially Pallea for 2 (28eur)! I can't believe that it's even a recommended dish. Big Scam! read more
