So I've had SomiSomi bookmarked for a while now and I'm so happy I finally got to remove it off my list last night! I've been wanting to try SomiSomi because they specialize in taiyaki soft serve, also known as "Ah-Boong" in Korea. "Ah-Boong" is a popular dessert in Korea inspired by Japanese taiyaki, which are fish shaped waffles. My ethnicity is Korean so I'm proud and happy to support this franchise business :) There are SomiSomi locations all over California as well as in Hawaii and Texas. The SomiSomi Long Beach location is located on Atlantic Blvd in Bixby Knolls - there is limited street parking. You'll place your order by following the 3 steps: 1) Pick an ice cream flavor - so many yummy flavors to choose from 2) choose a filling such as Nutella, custard, taro or red bean 3) choose your toppings. The staff was professional, fast, efficient and friendly. Tip: If you can't choose between flavors, you can pick "this week's swirl," which allows you to choose between two sets of swirled flavors. Mind-blowing, I know :) We ended up ordering Oreo soft serve with Nutella filled taiyaki topped with Oreo crumbles! Oh Em Gee! The soft serve ice cream is light, fluffy, not too sweet and delicious. The "gold fish shaped waffle cone" taiyaki is light crispy, yet slightly chewy and was filled with Nutella. Nom nom. It was amazing and is perfect to enjoy yourself or to share :) I'm always open to the latter! Soft serve ice cream shop that we quite frequent when in Long Beach. The have numerous flavors to choose from but my personal favorite is the Ube (Taro) or the Cookies and Cream. My wife and children usually include the fish shaped waffle called a "taiyaki" in their soft serve. Their shop is located on Atlantic Ave so parking is limited. I recommend this to all that love soft serve ice cream. read more

Been wanting to try this out and when I found out they were making one in the LBC....I was so stoked!!!! When we went in, we were kinda confused and didn't know what to order. Luckily, the worker was really helpful and even gave some recommendations on what to get and the best pairings for each flavor. I ended up getting the Ah Boong with Oreo ice cream, Captain Crunch drizzle, with my fish filled with Nutella. The guy even finished it off with a cute macaron!!! It was yummy!!! I am very upset it's not like i came 5 minutes before closing i waited for a very long time just for the employee to tell me first Come first serve like i was not in line just like everyone else she was very rude i think and i didn't appreciate that i come In very often and they never turned me away especially after waiting so long if it's close to closing they will just let people who are still coming in know they are no longer taking anymore they are closed but Today they just turned me away after being in line just like everyone else way before closing time. I'm excited that Long Beach has a somisomi now and that I don't need to drive to Cerritos for it. It tastes just as great as other somisomis and it has the same great flavors and toppings. I've had this before many times in different cities and finally there's one in Long Beach/Bixby area! So glad there's one here now. My fam loves the Taiyaki and they're a great deal for what it's worth. You also can mix flavors which is great because we all get the flavor we want. This soft - serve chain is making waves! I feel like there are Somi-Somi's popping up everywhere! After our unsuccessful attempt to eat at Rori's - we drove down the street to satisfy our sweet tooth. We got the soft serve in a cup; Thai tea/matcha topped with coconut and Oreo/coffee topped with graham crackers and Oreo. The soft serve itself is pretty creamy and thick. It wasn't a strong taste of coffee but it was sweet. I think I might opt to get a solid flavor next time. They are generous with their serving and I couldn't finish my dessert! I do like how you can get toppings without an additional cost. The service was good and the decor itself is very bright and trendy. Parking was pretty easy to get and not a lot of other stores were open around 9 pm. read more

Let me start off with the wait time , it' was busy !!! as today was super hot so I expected it to be , it's just everyone waiting inside the store and out front , it was too disorganized that there wasn't even a visible purchase line , if that makes sense lol they also only have like 4 flavors , it was OK , I expected the ice cream to be different it was too milky for me . Angelique I believe her name was she was training and honestly so quick and also let us know that some toppings don't stick , but still tried her best to make them look bomb , also after every ice cream we had she offered a macaroon , witch she didn't have too she could've just let us pick our toppings and be on our way , but was otherwise , gave us spoons and napkins too ! However, this location does not have seating space, so my friends and I stood around eating food. I understand it's not a large room, but some benches or stools would be nice.
