Located in the new foodhall in the 99 Ranch in Irvine, CA. They offer rice plates with katsu dishes and it didn't disappoint. They were large portions and the service was nice and good came out quick. Katsu was cooked very well along with all of the accompaniment.

Somethin is located inside the Eat Up food court at 99 Ranch and has the largest setup among all the vendors with a long counter that has two sides for ordering, and a pickup area in the middle. However they're also the only spot here without a self-service kiosk, so you'll need to order directly at the counter with someone. The menu feels a little oversimplified and that's where a kiosk would've helped. There aren't many descriptions for the food or drinks, and options like milk substitutions aren't listed even though they're available for an additional charge. Some items have photos, which is helpful, but the menu could use a little more attention. The matcha was a bit watered down, but the cream was good.

Something Irvine is located in the new food court at the 99 Ranch Market. They have good Korean comfort food. I had the shrimp katsu which comes with rice, salad and some type of soup. I like trying new things, I've never had this soup before and it was really good. I liked the shredded lettuce salad. The katsu was delicious. You get a lot of food in your box. The lady working was really nice and explained different menu items to me. I'll have to return and explore more items.

Jen and I decided to check out the new Food Hall at 99 Ranch on Culver. We arrived a little before noon and the place was very busy. All food options look good and we look to come back and try the others. Our choice was Somethin' Irvine. A bit of a mixed menu so for lunch I went with Spicy Cold Noodles and Crispy Katsu, while Jen opted for Curry Udon and Katsu. First off, the portions are generous. We barely consumed half of our order and look forward to finishing it up at home. The Katsu was tender, juicy and crispy...excellent. My noodles were perfectly spicy. I did find them a bit challenging to eat with chopsticks, but my skills aren't the best. I will finish them up with a fork at home. Jen said she would have liked her Udon dish a bit warmer. They also have Cereal Shakes which look great in the pictures and a bit sinful. I will keep this in mind when I allow myself a guilty pleasure. The staff was quite friendly and being the first day of a hard opening, I'm sure their organization will only get better. The Food Hall is on the smaller size and when packed can get loud. Seating can also be a problem. Had we not found a table, we were prepared to take our meal to go and eat outside 99 Ranch. I'm sure the Food Hall and Somethin' Irvine will be a hit and we'll be back.

Reasonably price!

I have been eager to try this spot inside the Irvine 99 Ranch Market food hall ever since seeing it featured on social media. During a previous shopping trip, I happened to walk past a table with an extraordinarily large portion of katsu. Impressed, I asked the diners where they ordered it, and they directed me to Somethin'. Having already eaten that day, I made a mental note to return soon. I finally visited on a Thursday evening to satisfy a katsu craving, and I was pleased to find that it was not overly crowded, which I'm sure gets packed on the weekends. I ordered the King Don Katsu along with the spicy cold noodles. The katsu was outstanding--crispy, delicious, and true to its reputation, remarkably generous in portion (see picture). The pairing of the rich katsu with the refreshing, spicy cold noodles worked exceptionally well. Additionally, the staff was extremely welcoming and helpful, taking the time to answer all my questions about the menu. I highly recommend visiting Somethin'. Just be sure to bring a serious appetite if you order the King Don Katsu, or plan on bringing a dining partner to share it with!

New spot. Nice bright spot in the food court inside 99 Ranch. Food was good. Their cheese katsu had nice cheese pull. The they noodles were good. Service was solid as well. Decent amount of seating as well.

Curry udon combo with somethin' katsu

We got the Rose Tteobokki combo with chicken katsu ($18.99) and the Curry combo with Somethin' katsu ($16.99). I love the Rose Tteobokki because it's not that spicy for the kids and we also love the flavor. The Curry was also not that spicy for the kids but it was surprisingly more mildly spicier than the rose tteobokki. Both were delicious but I like the tteobokki more while the hubby and two kids like the curry more. I recommend buying a side of rice ($1) or two cause you'll have extra sauce from both dishes to pour over it afterwards. Next time we want to try the King Don Katsu cause it's huge! It looked like a really good value.

Rose ttebokki + something katsu and soy chicken rice bowl

Looking at the hours of opening, we knew that we had to make a beeline for Somethin' upon arriving at 99 Ranch Market as we would only have an hour left before closing. The manager told my husband that once everything settles down that they will open later until 9 PM. We were able to order right away. We put in an order for soy chicken bowl and the rose tteokbokki with something katsu. My husband would go later and order for himself the king don katsu which is quite generous and comes with a salad. All entrees came with soup. I had expected more soy sauce flavor in my chicken rice bowl. It was still there, however. The rose ttebokki was nice and chewy and not too spicy. The katsu in the ttebokki combo was crispy which was perfect dipped in the accompanying sauce. The king don katsu seemed like it had more sauce and was more messy once we got it home to eat. We took out because there was too many people in the food court with the excitement of the grand opening and we wanted to enjoy our food in peace. Daughter is interested in trying the lucky charm shake when she returns in the coming week.

KING DON KATSU

A small food court inside 99 Ranch Market. Service wasn't bad & corrected our order quickly when an item was missing. We ordered: KING DON KATSU: 2 huge pieces of katsu drenched in gravy. The pieces were thinner than I'd like, which made it hard to cut (they had crappy utensils there too). Good for sharing & then you can try other items. Gravy was tasty but I'd ask for it on the side next time. Made the katsu soggy SPICY CHEWY NOODLES: Full of flavor! A bit too spicy for my taste but a good choice. This item iz a cold dish BULGOGI RICE BOWL: this was eh. Nothing special about it. Good portion bowl. Comes with soup & side of kimchi KIMCHI SPAM RICE BOWL: also packed with flavor. Would definitely order this again. Probably one of the better kimchi fried rice I'd had. Also comes w/ soup & side of kimchi. I'd come back

I was looking for a new Dokatsu spot because I've been a little disappointed with the Donkatsu quality at Hako the last few times. I think I finally found my new favorite! We ordered the King Donkatsu, and the portion was HUGE. My son and I shared it, and we both loved it. The bulgogi rice bowl was also delicious! Super juicy and tender. The service was great, prices were very reasonable, and the turnover for the seats is pretty quick so we didn't wait long. The Dalgona Latte was amazing too! The owner told me the dalgona is house made which I can tell as an avid dalgona lover. It was perfectly crunchy and so good with the latte. So happy I found this place. Definitely coming back!

Cheese Katsu

I'm loving this new Korean spot inside 99 Ranch Market in Irvine! The King Katsu Don was my favorite--the sauce was SO good and stayed just right without making the katsu soggy. Plus, the portion was absolutely massive... literally as big as my torso . The cheese katsu was also delicious with such a good cheese pull! I was surprisingly obsessed with the spicy Bim Bim Udon too. It was refreshing, had the best chew, and I could definitely see myself ordering another bowl. The Double Cream Matcha was also perfectly balanced and didn't need to be made less sweet. Service was nice, and the casual cafeteria seating made it feel easy and laid-back. Definitely excited to come back and try more!

King Tonkatsu, Soy Chicken Rice Bowl, and Apple Americano Huge portions and everything was delicious!

I was near Irvine and craving tonkatsu, so I found Somethin' inside the 99 Ranch Market food court after reading reviews on Google. The prices were so affordable that I wasn't sure what to expect--but wow! I ordered the King Tonkatsu and couldn't believe how huge it was. I had to take a photo! It was crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Amazing quality and such great value! The portion was so generous that I couldn't finish it, so I took the rest home. Later, I ate it cold and was surprised all over again--how was it still SO good?! I'm already craving it again! The Soy Chicken Rice Bowl was delicious too! I was so blown away by the King Tonkatsu that I almost forgot to mention it! And the Apple Americano was amazing as well. If I lived closer, I'd honestly want to come here every day. I'll definitely be back!

Pretty good Korean spot inside Culver 99 ranch. I got the spicy noodle with Katsu for about 20 dollars. Big serving so you are getting your money's worth. Off to a pretty good start and looking forward to trying more

Coworker has been raving about this place since I knew him - so we finally managed to grab lunch here on a Thursday. Service is typical Asian restaurant - fast, efficient, mildly friendly. You know the food is good when they don't make small talk. There's tons of seating inside, and one table outside - but not sure if the one outside is just for you to wait for your table inside. Despite it being packed for lunch, we were able to hear each other just fine. Plates, bowls, utensils, cups are all on your table - which is a huge plus - no need to flag anyone down. There's a pitcher of water, and a thermos of their famous bone broth - which was my choice of drink for my meal. I left all the ordering to my coworker - who was careful to order non-spicy selections - since I have a low spice tolerance. Our orders: * Dolpan Mushroom Bulgogi - this was a delicious dish in a hot stone. Mushroom and beef over rice with a semi mild spicy sauce. My tablemates were forgiving in that they ordered everything without spice, and added spice on their own. * Fried Squid - sorta like calamari, but prepared differently. This was great on its own, has a bit of a tempura type of coating. *Braised Short Ribs - this is the dish that my coworker has been hyping up! It's like a short rib stew sorta thing with fish cakes, veggies, in a rich, thick broth. The short ribs were perfectly tender and each bite was full of flavor. Beware - this entree is $70 to $90 - not a typo. It's easily 3x to 4x as much as any other entree on the menu. We were served purple rice - which I thought was awesome - perfectly soft, moist, and fluffy. We also had a great helping of banchan - table favorites were the Korean cubed jelly, fish cakes, kimchee radishes and the squash. As mentioned, service was prompt and attentive. Our banchan was refilled without us having to ask. Parking CAN get messy. I parked on the surface, but there is supposedly an underground parking area underneath the shopping plaza.

Hahaha! Not that Korean service is intentionally bad, but it's usually more about efficiency and getting food to customers than making small talk or giving everyone special attention. And this place was exactly like that! The chicken was fresh, although the fish was a little too salty for my taste. The noodles, however, were delicious and tasted very authentic! They even gave us complimentary steamed dumplings, which were HUGE! Overall, not a bad spot in Irvine if you're craving a wide variety of authentic Korean dishes. Come for the food, not the small talk!

If you're going with a few people, the Braised Spicy Premium Beef Ribs with the flat glass noodles is definitely the move. The portion easily feeds two to three. The meat is super tender and just falls off the bone, covered in a rich, spicy sauce that has a nice kick to it. The flat glass noodles soak up all that sauce, and the chunks of kabocha squash add a slight sweetness that balances out the spicy, heavy beef. Service is super fast. You get your banchan pretty much the second you sit down, and the food comes out steaming hot without a long delay. If you're looking for a quick group lunch spot where you can split something huge and spicy, it's definitely worth coming here.

My friend also let me try the beef bone soup that came on the side, and I had the same impression. After the meal, I felt sick and nauseous from its artificial tastes. The condiments and everything we ordered were also extremely sweet, which overwhelmed the flavors and was disappointing for Korean food. Overall, the food simply did not taste authentic or made with the quality of ingredients I expected. I really dislike leaving negative reviews because I genuinely want to support local restaurants. However, based on what we were served, I cannot recommend this place. The restaurant presents itself as an authentic seolleongtang restaurant, and one entire wall is covered with large advertisements emphasizing its authenticity. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to those claims. I was also confused by the restaurant's name, YiGah, because it sounds essentially the same in Korean as the well-known LeeGa name in Los Angeles. That initially gave me a different expectation of the restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was simply terrible during our visit. I hope they will improve the quality, especially the broth and seasonings.
