I was near some burros and stopped in for a quick bite after a meeting that day. I figured it was going to be like a cafe rio or a whole in the wall Mexican restaurant. It was far from that. When you walk in the door you are greeted and smiled at from just about every worker inside. The restaurant was kept so clean and there was not a single dirty table in sight. You order your food in line and they bring it out to you when you're ready, I figured it was going to be fast food type mexican but again I was pleasantly surprised. It was amazing quality food and you didn't have to even tip a server because it wasn't that kind of restaurant! I have never been so thrilled because you don't have to wait on anyone to help you. You can fill your own drinks and they give you as much chips and salsa as you want. A young manager named sophia helped me and basically asked me how everything tasted, She was such a personable young lady and should be kept around for a long time. Overall the food was very good especially for the price. The food only took about 10 minutes so it is a perfect place to stop in for lunch! My family and I stopped here expecting 'Great Mexican Food' as it proclaimed in their slogan. I was very disappointed. Although the ambiance and decor was clean and nice to look at the food was pretty terrible. My husband and I both ordered veggie burritos (burros) in which you would think there would be vegetables. No. The sign said the burrito contained fresh avocado, again no. I'm not one usually to complain but this was a bean burrito in a subpar flour tortilla. To make it even worse the burrito was swimming and dripping clear oil. I took it back, the girl who worked there was nice and helped exchange my food but also said that the avocado was in the pico de gallo that you get on the side. It was not. Overall terrible food. Just chicken?!?!??! like what? So I go in there today really wanting a good chicken burrito, so I order two chicken tacos and one fish taco and a chicken burrito. Sounds pretty good right, nothing to complicated there right? Our food comes pretty quickly and I check the bag for salsa which is there, so we leave. I get home completely famished and I realize that my chicken Burro smells funny and is leaking on the bottom of the bag. I pull it out unwrap it and bite into it and taste chicken...just chicken, nothing but chicken, chicken by itself. I'm like, okay they put it all at the bottom, so i take another bite and again chicken, just chicken. Finally I'm like okay this is pretty gross, so I decide to unwrap it and I get my answer. Their chicken burro is chicken wrapped in a tortilla...and thats it! Chicken and a tortilla for 4.50? really? It's not even good tasting chicken it's wet soggy strips that taste and smell like drippings from a grill. My son tried his chicken tacos and again just chicken in a deep fried taco with like two strips of wilted floppy lettuce. Seriously!?!??! I finally take the plunge into my fish taco and I can say that the only reason I was willing to give it one star was because of the fish taco, however now my stomach is feeling horrible and I may have to go vomit in a minute. Avoid this place like the plague. A complete waste of $13 really kind of pissed about that, because I can get better food at Wendy's and I think Wendys is nasty. I've been in the restaurant industry for 50 years. I've owned restaurants, consulted for them, been a chef at a restaurant rated by James Beard as one of the top 100 restaurants in the world, have written several books about them, etc. I also hail from Texas, the home of Tex-Mex. To me this is easily some of the best Mexican food that I've tasted in Arizona. I think the cheese enchiladas with red sauce were about as authentic as it gets. The chicken enchiladas have about twice as much chicken as other Mexican restaurants in town. To top it off, the prices are about 20% less that lower quality full-service Mexican restaurants. The employees there really care about their customers. We used to go to a couple local Tex-Mex restaurants, but now we only go to Someburros--weekly. read more

i had the server named Brigid I and i had told her that it was my first being there and she was nice at first but i don't know why her attitude changed and started to "huh" and "what" at me when i speaking perfectly fine. while waiting for my food i heard laughing where the food gets prepared. i decided to look up and the server who helped me had her hands out and i didn't get the name of the girl who was in the back making food cause they decided to actually throw my burrito i had ordered like if they were playing catch. i believe that's not professional at all and when she bagged my food up and was just throwing all my things inside. when i come back i would like to get better customer service. read more

Was driving through to Phoenix from Tennessee and stopped. Somewhat disappointed. The staff was extremely friendly. However, the food was a bit of a let down. High price for little. I had a chicken quesadilla and It was the worst I had had. There was no seasoning in the chicken and barely any cheese. The rice and beans were good and he place was very clean. Do eat here if you have never had Mexican food before in your life and you do not care about quality, authenticity, or taste, whatsoever. This is the Wal-mart of Mexican food. Found out why the prices were so cheap the hard way. I ordered a carne asada burrito, and the first bite I thought, "oops, they gave me a bean and rice burrito," (which don't exist on Mexican menus). I took it back, and they told me it was, in fact, the right order; it even had a "CA" on it for "carne asada". I opened the burrito to reveal its petty contents. There were a few (literally three) pieces of beef, but almost no meat (not what you would expect for a "carne asada" burrito) and plenty of beans and rice (which should not be on a carne asada burrito) with some questionable avocado smearings. If you can't do a standard carne asada burrito, you do not deserve the right to call yourself "Mexican food". Fool me once...(never again) I grew up in Arizona, get your Mexican food right yo. read more

Our family has enjoyed the food here since the store opened, at least until now. They claim to be authentic and say "Nana's way is the only way". Maybe it was but not anymore! They are using nasty deep fried diced potatoes in their burritos now. What mexican nana or mother would even consider such a thing? There was no manager on duty but the nice young lady who took our order said "the owners want the potatoes cooked that way now". We've been eating at Someburros once or twice a week for a long time. Wow... there is a first time for everything, I have never before had my food taken away while I was in the bathroom, not that it was a big loss. This was my first time to Someburros. The food was excellent. You get chips while you wait for your food. They were delicious. The beans were also delicious. And my burro couldn't have been better. And the service was wonderful. Very friendly young man served us. read more

Ordered fiesta platter for my son's grad party. All was good. Little chimis & picarros were a hit. Service was very good. My problem? I bit into a chimi and kept finding hard stuff in it. I went once when I moved to town and wasn't impressed (not just flavor--food was served cold). I went back today to try it again after a year, and got home to find my vegetarian bean burrito was beef. There's no bigger way to screw up an order than that. $8 in the trash. read more

Before moving to flagstaff I had never even tried someburros. It is now one of my favorite little Mexican restaurants. The employees are very friendly and the food is bomb. I ordered the pollo fundido. It was super filling and delicious! I love the jalapeño cream cheese. I had never had it before. I thought it would be too spicy but I ended up loving it. I also always order the pico de avocado for my chips. It's a perfect combination of avocados and pico de gallo. Honestly, I could probably eat it plain! read more

I ordered a chicken burro from this restaurant assuming I was getting a typical burrito, but arrived home to find I had ordered a doughy tortilla (did not seem thoroughly cooked) filled with canned chicken and that was it! There were no beans, rice, cheese, salsa, sauce, nothing. I couldn't even get through it as I knew I was eating canned chicken. It was almost like eating a tuna burrito. UGH! The menu on the wall of the restaurant, nor the menu on the web tells you what comes inside the burro. How convenient! Below the burro section on the menu it says "Extra cheese" - $0.75. Doesn't the word "extra" insinuate that there is already cheese inside?? I called the restaurant and spoke to Johnny who I believe is the restaurant's manager as that is what is listed on the website. The only thing Johnny could say to me was that they were not using canned chicken. He did not offer to resolve the situation by returning my money, but simply reminded me of how reasonably priced their items are. For a brand-new restaurant I would have expected a much better response from the store's manager. I was excited to see Flagstaff get another restaurant that could offer a quick option but I will not be returning to this location. I will continue instead to go to Los Altos where they really know how to make real Mexican food at a very reasonable price. BTW, if you google "some burros canned chicken" you will see I am not the only complaint that they are using canned chicken. read more
