Met up with Ali as my agent. He listened carefully what we wanted & what our needs. He gave a great presentation about Sunpower and their battery, which made me more convinced on what I know about Sunpower. He reassured me that my old system will work well with the new one. He also suggested things that we might want base from our needs. We gave us detailed options on systems, lease vs buying and also payment plans. We ended up buying our system. Prior to this expansion, we heard a lot of horror stories my friends experienced when they had their system installed. We had some delays on the start of our installation but it was understandable ( it was raining a lot that several projects would be moved). When they started, everybody was very nice and professional. They explain things to us thoroughly and reinforced things we forget. They are all accommodating to our needs because they are aware I work nights. Bree was always easy to talk to. She coordinates everything we need well. Derik was also very helpful. He came to our assistance even when he was already off. Ali was still reachable even when we needed help outside office hours. This company has great employees and they do a great job. We recently had them replace our roof and upgrade our solar panels. Our only negative is the people in the office don't seem to understand how to communicate with the homeowner or their own employees. They didn't send enough workers to complete our solar panels instillation in one day as they had indicated they would and I was told they sent more workers to install 3 panels than our 30. Frustrating for the workers and me as the homeowner. They did a great job on our roof redo and the guys doing the work were all great and respected our property and were here on time. Once again though the office is remiss in not communicating to the roofers and the solar side in order for them to communicate with each other and the homeowner. In other words the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. There were tiles left over and the lead roofer stated someone would be coming to remove them. After a couple of weeks of the tiles sitting in our driveway I called the office and was told they were ours and I would have to figure out what to do with them. That was a frustration. I want to reiterate the workers for both the roofing side and the solar side are the biggest plus for this business. read more

My solar system was installed in 2020 and I was happy about it until now. My electric bill was very very high the last few months and upon checking my solar system, it's been down for several months. I called Solartech to come in to take a look. They came and told me that my service panel was not good. I asked electricians to come in for a look and they told me that how come they didn't provide a new service panel and should have replace the panel during the installation. Alos, there's workmanship issue during solar installation. They removed my SPA breaker and re-arranged my breakers in the service panel to make room for the Solar breaker. They also put in the incompatible breaker. By doing so, they broke the back panel and the technicians just placed wrong screws to hold the back panel to my service panel. Over time, the screws gave out and caused a burnt to my service panel bus. I called and emailed Solartech for their workmanship issue. From the pictures they have, it clearly showed how the panel was before the install. They just refused to take responsibility and provide no response. I'm very disappointed and wanted to warn people what has happened in my installation and they're NOT standing behind their workmanship issue at all... read more

My system was broken for a month, after the installer came to replace the faulty inverter he didn't program it correctly and the inverter is not communicating, I have called several times and they say that someone will call me to fix the issue but I have never received a call back, I have already received two monthly statements from SDG&E only with energy consumption but without energy creation. I went back and forth on getting solar for over 10 years. I finally pulled the trigger due to net metering changing. I have got more then 10 bids over that time and this year got 4 bids before deciding on SolarTech. Ali Ibrahim was fantastic to deal with and was someone I felt was honest and upfront. Even though SolarTech wasn't the cheapest price I decided to go with them based on personal recommendations and online reviews. They use the SunPower system and I couldn't be happier with my decision. Tesla was much much cheaper but reviews all over the internet showed me they are a disaster in terms of customer service when something goes wrong. So many horror stories about broken systems for months and even some for over a year. That and the fact that they don't use micro inverters steered me away. SunRun was insane in terms of price so they were out. I also had another local installer give a bid and liked them but in the end wanted SunPower so chose SolarTech. From start to finish the project was well communicated and professional. As in any big project like this there was a couple hiccups but everyone from the sales team to office staff and installers were all responsive to my questions and concerns. Rafael and his install team were amazing and the work they did at my house was perfect. He answered any questions I had and he and his crew were super clean and respectful. They cleaned up any mess they made and overall I was really impressed with their work! My system has been operational for about a month and I haven't had one issue with it. I purchased a 14kW system and I'm producing anywhere from high 82-97kWh a day in June and July which are obviously peak sun months in So Cal. The SunPower monitoring is great and the panel level data is cool to see. In conclusion I would highly recommend SolarTech and their team. We had to sue Solar Tech in small claims court. I want to warn people about the unprofessional behavior of this company. In July of 2024 we hired Solar Tech to do an inspection of our solar system to make sure it was working properly. While doing the inspection the technician changed a setting that controlled how much power is reserved in the battery from 20% to 100%. The result was that our system stopped sending power to our house and to SDG&E, effectively turning off our solar production. By the time we figured out what happened and had Solar Tech correct their error, two and a half months had passed and the error had cost us a little over $2,500. In October of 2024 we wrote a letter to Solar Tech explaining what had happened and asking them to reimburse us for our loss. The company did not respond. Over the next several month we called Solar Tech at least 8 times, each time leaving a message that went unreturned. Finally, in May of 2025 we were able to reach the business manager, Tonya, who explained that she was new to the job so it wasn't her fault that we had received no response. She said she would look into the issue and take care of us. Several times she told us she would speak with the VP and get back to us, and then didn't. After about six weeks of this, with only two weeks to go before the deadline to file a lawsuit, Tonya told us that Solar Tech was accepting responsibility and offered to reimburse us about $1,700, or about 2/3 of our damages. We told her that wasn't acceptable. She said we would have to speak with the VP and that he would call in a day or two. He never called. In July of 2025, with just one day to go until the deadline, we filed a small claims suite against the company. We continued to call the company to try to resolve the issue, but they have not returned any calls. Our impression is that even though Solar Tech understands that this was their mistake, they are going to make us jump through as many hoops as possible in the hope that we will give up, or that they will be able to pay less than the actual damages. We're not saying this company is a scam. They probably do good work most of the time. But it's clear that they prioritize money over treating their customers with respect, and behaving responsibly and professionally. read more

Pros - SunPower makes a good product - Installer did a pretty nice looking job on our sub-panel install - Installers were generally nice Cons - Install initially quoted at 3-5 days, and took almost 3 weeks - Our sales/PD guy was great, when he could be reached. Most of the time was "out of office" and "on vacation" with no one else taking his calls and emails, making us reach out to the main office which was hit and miss - Installers were almost always late and always left early - Their company is VERY far from us, which probably led to multiple issues, but for some reason SunPower allows them to book jobs 2-3 hours away - Project managers either didn't exist or didn't know what they were doing, sometimes they'd send 3 or 4 guys out and only one guy would be working for most of the day - Tools and personal items left at our home multiple times, technicians asking to come by on weekends to pick them up - Refused to guarantee work on multiple roof surfaces due to state of roof material. Three separate roofing companies said we didn't need to re-roof but they'd take our money if we really wanted to. We ended up having to sign SolarTech's agreement that they wouldn't guarantee their work - Installers used my personal tools from my garage without asking (yes. for real. it's hard to overstate how unbelievable this all was) - Rewired our main breaker box, leaving part of our home without power, including AC unit (during a heat wave), and then left - It took multiple return visits over 3 or 4 days from technicians to regain power to our entire home - They didn't label the new breaker box. Senior installers or managers would act disappointed, even talk trash on their coworkers, but then not really fix things (I ultimately labeled it myself because I didn't want to have them in my home any longer) - They left exterior wiring conduits unpainted (i.e. no one came out to verify the install was completed properly) - After the install was finished they never followed up with the county to complete the inspections, so we sat there for a month for no reason (it took another month after that until we could actually use them). 1/6 of a year sat not generating power for no reason other than SolarTech forgot about us - A year after this nightmare concluded, they're finally balancing their books and realized we still owe them for a sub-panel that wasn't included in the loan. I experienced absolute disappointment with Solartech due to their outright job abandonment. While they swiftly installed the system, the project was left hanging, neglected. Despite my relentless attempts to obtain information on the RMA installation by SDGE, they remained shockingly unresponsive for weeks. I had to take charge and contact SDGE myself to ensure any progress. Out of nowhere, Solartech unexpectedly appeared for a city inspection after two months, even though the project wasn't close to being ready. This forced the inspection to be canceled. In a conference call with their VP of Operations, I learned that they blamed an employee's departure for the chaos. But internal issues should never justify their neglect of duty and customer care. We chose Solartech despite their not being the cheapest option, assuming we'd receive top-notch service. However, they massively let us down. Their offer of a mere $500 discount feels like a slap in the face for the hassle and inconvenience we've faced. And to add insult to injury, they left unsealed holes on our property, a clear sign of substandard workmanship that only amplified our dissatisfaction. Another significant issue was their failure to explain the solar panels and battery system, despite numerous inquiries. Promises were made time and again to provide crucial details, but they were never followed through. Solartech's negligence and false promises not only fell short but created a complete inconvenience and headache. Excellent choice for solar, but careful with the financing! In my research on solar panels in late 2020, the choice really came down to two OEMs: LG and SunPower. They were the only two that had inverters built into each panel. The idea is that if your panel get shaded or otherwise disrupted, only the affected panel loses AC charging capacity rather than all of them feeding a single, master inverter. Ace sales guy Mark Albano explained all of this to me and was patient with all of my other questions and my eventual re-quote for more panels. We had a few factors working against us to size the system correctly. We were new in our house, so we had no real baseline usage. Our previous house had no A/C. We would be charging on EV, might buy another one, I was COVID working at home, so my commuting miles were artificially low. In other words, sizing was going to be a bit of a guessing game. The good news is that we seemed to get it right: my SDGE true-up bill was about -$200 in 2021 and 2022. When the day came, installation on my concrete tile roof was quick and efficient. The crew was polite and professional. I was concerned about tile breakage and leaks, and had researched a special mount designed to reduce that risk. I shared it with Mark and he told me that's what the normally use...excellent! The bad part was the financing. Interest rates were at historic lows when I bought, yet my rate with Technology Credit Union (of San Jose!) was 5.49%. I'm sure it's more in 2023. I expect that Solar Tech made a point or so on the loan itself. The rate still penciled, as my payment for my 14 panel 6.5 kW system is $180, less than what my SDG&E bills were even with no A/C or EVs. What Tech CU *doesn't* tell you is that once you get a loan with them, they put a lien on your house like a second mortgage!!! This is VERY problematic when you go to re-fi. Each time, you have to go to Tech CU, pay a $250 "Subordination Fee" then wait about a week. Anyone who's refinanced knows that you normally don't have a spare week if you want to lock in a good rate. So I lost out on my first re-fi in 2021. I'm sure you can imagine how pissed I was. I even spoke to a few different attorneys about damages due to the financial impact and of course the lack of disclosure in the initial contract! I would normally say "read the fine print," but that's hard to do when the objectionable language is completely MISSING! The lawyers said that the best I could do would be to just pay off the loan and get rid of them, which I'm just about to do. My advice with Solar Tech is to pay cash, get your own loan or put it on a credit card that gets you lots of points. Anything but Technology Credit Union! read more
