The experience at Sol Azteca Mexican Kitchen was extraordinary! It is a casual atmosphere where the food feels like you are sitting down to a home cooked meal. All ingredients are fresh and delicious. We got the fajitas plate with asada. The meat was perfectly seasoned and quite tasty. I recently ordered from here for the first time a few weeks ago. I have to say I'm very impressed with their food. I've only had a few items from their menu, but what I've ordered so far is so good. My two favorites are their rolled tacos with guacamole and their Grande Taco with carnitas. Both of those items are so good, much better than other Mexican restaurants that I've been to. Four stars...because the food is good and it's really popular. I'll have to try more dishes before I can give out the last star. First time here and we got in just before the Friday night rush. Lots of dine in and to go orders which means the locals really love this place. The website says traditional Me Ivan and it makes me curious what part of Mexico the flavors come from. They were definitely different than the Tex-Mex flavors I grew up on. But very tasty. The Pollo Especial had a good green sauce which was not too spicy but very flavorful. My wife had the Pollo con Queso which I am definitely getting next time. Yum! All the other dishes they brought out looked good too. With a small but well-kept salsa bar and friendly staff, this place would be a good choice for a Mexican-food craving. read more

We went on a Saturday this time and the wait was a little long for to-go but that's usually a good sign to me. I love coming here because it's good but today was not the case I decided to try something new. That's being the huarache with carne asada. Well I was not happy with what I was given/ tasting. They do have a sign on the door about the avocados. But come on these avocados where more brown than green and I got 3 slivers of it on this huge huarache. The carne asada has definitely changed since the last time I've been there. I would also recommend that they switch to fresh lettuce because this bagged lettuce just makes the whole meal gross tasting I got so much lettuce it took away from the whole meal. We also got chips and salsa. I want to say every time I've ordered it, it's been red salsa and today we got green for some reason. FINALLY found a good Mexican restaurant near Queen Creek. This has taken years for me to uncover this. Food was hot and salsa was tasty. My husband's Carne Asada burrito had so much flavor he didn't have to use any salsa - unheard of in almost all of AZ. Very reasonably priced. Workers are kind but don't expect table service. This is more of a taqueria style restaurant. This is our new go-to place. I had a carne asada quesadilla. Solid spot for authentic Mexican food in south east Mesa. I've been here a few times and the food has always been good. I like that they offer unique options that you don't see everywhere like sopes and huaraches which are more typical of the central and south regions of Mexico. We absolutely love Sol Aztecs. We ALWAYS have excellent service from everyone. The food is some of the best I've had in Arizona. The carnitas ante the best I have ever had. On this visit I tried the nachos and I wasn't disappointed. Tuesday's are of course busy but worth the wait. They are pretty fast at getting orders out. I have seen this place to be very inconsistent, so I stopped going. They had started to use a really strong air freshener that you smell at places like Goodwill, and I felt like it was so strong it was like licking a bar of soap. When I go to a restaurant, it is good to smell the actual food. Food has also been packaged in a way that spills in the bag during carry out. That's a thing with wetter food, so I wish it was in a container that helps stop that. Salsa is good, but the cups for it are so very small you have to fill 12 for a 4 person meal. I think if they are worried about over-portioning, then maybe just give us what you want us to get, instead of a salsa bar. As for the food, I've tasted it really really good, and really not worth the money at all. read more

I also got a side of queso to pour over my rice and beans, which were already tasty on their own but even better with the queso. Service was great! On our recent visit, we both opted for the chimichangas from the lunch specials, and they were a delight. The chimichangas were generously filled with shredded beef - a pleasant change from other places that tend to bulk up the filling with beans. Here, the beans are rightly served on the side, along with rice. And let's not forget the guacamole topping - just the right touch! Drink too! On a previous visit, I tried their quesadilla, which was notably unique. The use of a fresh corn tortilla made it a standout dish. It's these little touches that make each meal here memorable. Really I haven't had anything that I disliked here. For us, supporting small businesses is important, but it's a bonus when the food is not only delicious but also reasonably priced. Had this place bookmarked for years and was working in the area today so I got take out to bring home for my husband and I! My husband got carne asada with shredded mozzarella and two sides of rice. I got an Azteca burrito with veggies and an order of chips and queso. My burrito did get a tiny bit soggy on the long drive home but the air fryer fixed that. It was super flavorful, I loved trying al the salsa too I think the chipotle one was my favorite. (Or some sort of roasted tomato salsa?). The queso was the tiniest bit lumpy but the flavor was good and I still ate it! Glad I got to check this place out. read more

Just went about three days ago to Sol Azteca. Went there for lunch, and was pleasantly surprised. Very friendly staff. Kind of like a home kitchen. I had a tamale plate. Excellent. Instead of being fat and full of just Masa, and no filling, they rather had a lot of filling surrounded by a little bit of masa. The red sauce was good, maybe a little bland. I would've liked a little more flavor out of the red sauce, but it was still good. Rice and beans were good. My mother is 92 so she had a child plate with a Carnita taco. And it was delicious (I ate some of it! - she gets full easily.). Definitely will go there again. It was full, also, when we went. I think it's pretty popular. read more
