I love this place, everything I've had here has been delicious. I usually get the taco plate special which is $7.99 for 3 street tacos, rice, beans, and a fountain drink, a phenomenal deal in this day and age! The cool thing is you can choose the kind of meat for each taco, you aren't restricted to getting only one meat like at many other places. I always get one carne asada, one carnitas, and one al pastor taco and all 3 meats are juicy and muy flavorful. The rice is fluffy and the beans are runny, just like I like them. They have Coke products for fountain drinks. Their birria tacos and sauce are great too. Being that I've been here a ton of times, I probably should take a journey a little farther along on their menu but you just can't beat the taco special! read more

My husband plays basketball nearby so they often come here to grub. We went this past Sunday to hangout and had a great time. Service is great and there are a bunch of tables and booths to sit at. This place just lost my business. I've been a regular for a while but they really struggle to run their drive through. I sat for over 10 minutes at the drive through after they told me to wait to take my order. They don't take your order until they finish handing off food to the person ahead of you. Just when I thought I couldn't find a better Mexican restaurant, Calitacos proved me wrong. I discovered this amazing restaurant after doing a brewery tour blocks away. I was famished and this was the closest place to get food. I had seen the pictures and reviews from other Yelpers, so I had to check it out. The flavors knocked me off my feet. You know it's good when there is the after taste that tingles in your mouth long after you've eaten. It's so satisfying. The food is made to order and is consistent each time I've been. The serving team is awesome too. Friendly and helpful with answering my questions about the menu. There is much to choose from but the menu is simple. I love all the different birria options. The Califries are my favorite. It's an alternative to eating nachos. The dining area is very festive and open. Plenty of seating with tables, booths, or at the bar. I visited Calitacos after seeing a video that made the food look amazing, so I had high expectations. I was recommended the Cali Fried Surf and Turf, which I ordered. When the fries arrived, I was immediately impressed--they looked saucy, cheesy, and delicious. Unfortunately, I ended up with raw shrimp, so I swapped the dish for carne asada fries instead. The carne asada fries were really good, and their red creamy aioli is an absolute must--seriously, it pairs well with everything. I also tried the al pastor taco. While it didn't look like much presentation-wise, the flavor was on point. Wanting something quick and close to work for Taco Tuesday I tried CaliTacos in the Palm Court Centre on Warner a little west of Arizona Ave. This is the 2nd time I've been here as the other was for dinner months ago with my family. The interior is set in black and red with a dining area, a bar counter in the corner and the counter to order. I placed my order at the counter and the server brought the food out to my table pretty quickly, within a few minutes of filling my drink cup. The chairs are not all the same, so look for one you may like if yours is not comfortable. On to the food...it's quite hit and miss for me. The beans and rice were not good. The beans were very thin and runny without any real taste. The rice also had no taste, nothing mixed in with it, just bland mexican rice. I got three street tacos- pastor, carnitas and pollo. The pollo was also very disappointing. Three of my four bites I had to pull out bone or gristle that could not be chewed and may crack a tooth or get stuck if your throat if accidentally swallowed. The chicken was also quite bland and needed a few squeezed of the hot sauce for any flavor. However I like the carnitas and pastor tacos...both had ample flavor and were overall quite enjoyable. read more

I came here for lunch and it was my first time. The interior is spacious and has a fun vibe. There are a lot of TVs showing various sports events, a bar and dining area. The menus are high tech and digital but there is also a physical menu you can look at by the registers as well. I ended up getting the 3 taco plate which came with rice and beans. I chose the carnitas, al pastor and birria ($1 up charge). I loved all of my tacos. I thought they were tasty and the meats were cooked and seasoned well. I also liked the 2 salsas they brought out to the table as well. Finally, I got the horchata which was creamier than I'm used to but it was delicious. Five stars isn't enough. This place has the BEST tacos and quesabirrias I have had since leaving California. The consumé is so flavorful I want to put it on everything! In Los Angeles (Silverlake specifically), there's a food truck called "The Flaming Taco" that has the BEST pastor ever, EVER! And Calitacos pastor tastes almost exactly the same. The first time I tried it, it made me miss home like crazy. The girls here are so sweet and kind and were so helpful with any question we had about the food. Upon arrival, we were informed that they do not accept Uber Eats orders, despite our order having already been accepted and charged through the app. When my husband politely presented the receipt to clarify the situation, the employees responded by laughing at him rather than attempting to resolve the issue professionally. While the food itself was decent, it was certainly not worth the high price given the poor customer service we received. The lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic courtesy from the staff left a very negative impression. In my eternal quest for really good Al Pastor in this town, CaliTacos was pretty solid. Chill vibes and good prices. I tried the Al Pastor and Birria tacos and got a caliburrito with carne asada (huge) to try a bunch of stuff. My wife also got a carne asada quesadilla which she said was great and made with love. Definitely a great place to go for any taco night. We came on a Saturday, not even a Tuesday and the deals were great. We got two $7.99 taco meals that came with rice and beans, and a drink. The total came to $20. That's a great deal. Plus the food quality was really good and it was pretty efficient. We also got two churros. We ordered two original, but I got the strawberry on accident. The strawberry was actually pretty good. The Original didn't have enough cinnamon and sugar to stick on it. Everything else was really good. There are two takeaways from our visit. 1) the staff was amazing they even went out of there way to accommodate our request. 2) the food was a bit to salty at the end I just felt my blood pressure went up.
