Located off Lincoln Ave in Cypress. Good amount of parking. The place is bigger than it looks when you first walk in. They have a special happy hour for 20% off all food except dinner items from 5-8pm . Also you get 10% off if you pay all in cash excluding happy hour. Food was good and service was pretty good although if you need anything you have to press the bell button at the table sometimes you have to press it twice. Overall a good experience here and good food. I think we will be back again. read more

I enjoy this place. Came here twice. First time - food was bomb and the service was just ok. Second time food still bomb- but the service still was just ok. I think the wait staff needs to be a bit more attentive. They never asked how anything was, never asked if we wanted another beer, or anything else to drink. They never checked on us. They kinda just served the food and that was it. They did the bare minimum. As soon as we got there I stood there waiting for someone to greet me but I had to stare at 3 different people and then ring their bell for someone to come over even though they saw me standing there. Also it's a button call service and it still took awhile for them to come to the table. ( not sure if they were understaffed) or they were just slow. Onto the food - Ordered Yakitori Beef = flavorful and tender, my favorite. Spicy chicken = flavorful and tender Pork belly = was just ok. But I love pork belly so the wifey and I will always order it. Spicy seafood yaki udon- really good. It's pretty spicy and it also stayed steaming which was awesome. corn cheese - was good, but we've had better, it also cooled down and hardened pretty quickly. Takoyaki- was steaming and delicious. Overall we'll be back for the food and the environment which is cool. The loud music and the beer. Management just train your servers to be a little more attentive and care about the customers. read more

Went here close to 12:45am on a Sunday as a group of 4 and was told the kitchen was closed for food, but we can be seated indoor for drinks still. Upon seating, our server immediately gave us water and a bowl of popcorn AMBIANCE: dimly lit with K-pop music playing on projectors. Still some ppl present with food and drinks. It was overall cool vibes for a lowkey night out w friends DRINKS: we got the yogurt soju cocktail, which was bomb! We got a few beers and soju bottles to share. Our server was super attentive and quick esp w their call bells PARKING: plenty of parking in a spacious lot, but it was also super late and ppl were leaving (who obviously had a good time) Good vibes overall for a night out drinking w friends if you don't want to hit the bars, just watch out and come earlier if you're trying to get food read more

Our go to spot when looking for a close by Korean bar/restaurant. The wait can get long on weekend nights but we usually wait because it's worth it. Came on a Friday night during happy hour though and got seated right away! Happy hour is 20% off (most) food and drinks. We got plenty of soju bottles, a couple pitchers, and food. We're fans of the kimchi and seafood pancake, Popcorn chicken with spicy rice cake, bulgogi, and calamari. Can also never go wrong with the tots if you're looking for a snack food to go with their drinks. They give you a free bowl of popcorn when you sit as well. They're usually playing Korean pop music and it's definitely a place you can sit at for hours with friends! read more

Came upon Sojuya for Happy hour with my group of friends. I do like the idea that you don't have to drive all the way to k-town to go to a Korean lounge and also the idea that you can get Korean and Izayaki all in one place. We were greeted and seated down. It was nice to see many items are 30% during happy hour, but not all. We took advantage and ordered bulgulgi, pork katsu, and fried seafood udon. All of which came out in timely fashion, but the portions are pretty small. We also ordered a pitcher of Hite, which they ran out.. That's fine so we ordered Cass, which they ran out too! Are you kidding me!? We ended up sticking with Asahi as an alternative. Service is good, I love how they have a button to get your waiter to come. Also, they have kpop music videos playing in the projector screen in the main dining area. In my opinion, this is not a bad place to get drinks, Korean food, and Izayaki if you live around OC but don't want to drive all the way to ktown! read more

Don't come here if you want to drink and have a designated driver under 21 They will not let you drink at the table since it is their policy!!! This is the perfect place to go if you want to feel like you're in a hole-in-the-wall Ktown restaurant minus the stress of traffic and parking! I loved the atmosphere of this place! The lights are dim, there's music playing, and people are genuinely having a good time at their individual booths. There's also a huge parking lot right next to the restaurant. You also get the best Japanese/Korean comfort food. The fish cake soup really warmed me up and the savory and seafood flavors tasted clean and delicious. We also ordered the spicy chicken which came coated with a blanket of soft gooey cheese. It was pretty spicy but it's that tasteful pain that makes you keep coming back for more. I loved this experience and definitely recommend for others to try. read more

Great atmosphere and menu variety. We ordered 6 dishes and they were all superb. One minor dissappointment was that they were out of my fav Hoagaarden draft but they still had many other good alternatives to choose from. A big plus for me is they close late at 2am! read more

My favorite thing to order is the Okonomiyaki half and half. Honestly every time I've ordered i can't tell which side is seafood and which side is the meat but it's still so good. We've tried the popcorn chicken, tater tots, sizzling cheese donkatsu and yakitori (served only 6-10pm) They have specials as well on the back side of the menu with combos and there's a discount if you pay cash. There's also complimentary popcorn which is super addicting while you wait for your order. service is great, they're quick and efficient and really kind. During busy times, you do have to flag down a server but they're quick to come over and help you out. Ambiance is like a lounge. They have some tvs and K-pop music playing as well as on a projector. Great place for late night eats and catching up with friends. read more

Sojuya - Grill chicken gizzard - Japanese Near Me - Cypress, California

Let's face it. Cypress and the OC is not Koreatown - not when it comes to Korean restaurants or especially Korean-style pubs/bars. Therefore, I'm always skeptical when people tell me a spot in this area is as good as Ktown. Fortunately, they're right about Sojuya - it's a place that holds its own, even when compared to bars in L.A. That definitely makes it heads and shoulders above most of the other places in the area. So what makes this place good? Well, I'm glad you asked. First of all, they have actual, authentic yakitori! You can see them grill the skewers over the coals when you walk in. The authentic cooking method results in authentic smoky yakitori flavor! The one downside is that the yakitori items are not part of the happy hour. The upside is that the rest of the menu is -- and it's all 1/2 off during happy hour! We tried the spicy octopus, which was spicy and delicious, but I've also tried their okonomiyaki, which is pretty darn good. They have the usual soju and beer, with a few good beers on tap, and a decent selection of sake! The place has ample parking and is pretty big inside. I don't remember ever having to wait for a table, even on the crowded weekend nights. They also have TVs around, so you can catch games, etc. I've been here many times before, and I'll definitely continue to go in the future! read more

We came for happy hour and stayed for 4 hours! Fun place to hang with friends. The food is decent and i love that it's dark with just enough music that you can still enjoy conversation. Servers are meh and aren't too friendly but they get your food and drinks and that's all that matters. read more

I love it here so much!! Food is exceptional! I have nothing to complain about this place.

You might call me crazy. I might've been really hungry or something but the food here is pretty good. I got the chicken cutlet curry. I really liked that they put the curry on the side. The chicken was pretty big and I get a little slaw. The curry was thick and had potatoes and carrots. I believe the price was $17-18. Then I had also ordered the spicy rice cakes...been craving it. Really good. read more

I came here a few times in the past (pre-pandemic) and it was pretty good, but this last time left a seriously bad taste in my mouth. However, I am keeping it to 3 stars as the other servers that helped us out were very sweet and I recognize that we had a large group (17 people) which may have affected our experience. I'll let you be the judge, though. This review is almost entirely due to the poor attitude and rude behavior of one server or "sort of" manager in particular, David (when I asked if he was the manager, he stated "sort of", so that's what I'm writing). I have some choice quotes from him that resulted in my bothering to write this review at all. As stated we had a large group and unfortunately, 2 of our party came a bit later than the rest. I understand that sometimes that might be a problem for the servers if they have to pull out extra chairs or move furniture around but we're a friendly group and just squeezed them into the bench seating area with no issues. However, David was pretty annoyed, and in an indignant tone stated, "This is why you were supposed to let me know exactly how many people were coming!" which I would've understood if we had made a fuss about it but I didn't hear anyone complain or say anything about seating, other than David. Later, after we'd paid the bill, he came back and loudly and aggressively waved our credit cards around, asking "Whose card is this?! Whose card is this?!" which is a bit crass and rude. We took a group picture in the lobby on our way out (we were there to celebrate a coworker's birthday) and maybe hung around for a minute too long because then of course David showed up and said "You guys need to go outside now!" Yes, I know we are a large group and that we are kind of in the way, but I think you can be slightly more polite when moving people towards the door. The last bit was when I requested his name and position. Me: "So you're the manager?" Him: "Sort of. Is there a problem?" (with impatience) Me, internally: "Pretty sure it's just you that's the problem but I don't have the energy to be a Karen and escalate this." Well, that was our experience. Hopefully the REAL management / owner can see this review and figure out what to do about this staff member. I'm fairly certain this is the same server that was complained about in a couple other reviews, so I'm not holding my breath, but I would caution people to stay away from Sojuya unless they're willing to roll the dice with the servers and potentially have to deal with David. read more

Been here a few times surprised I never reviewed it. We came in late Friday night, they do require masks, check temperature's, and have an outdoor tent for dining. Honestly eating here made me miss the unique interior they have, the wooden furniture, and dim lighting gave off such nice vibe. We ordered Spicy pork belly, beef Yakiudon, and takoyaki. Everything always tastes great here never had a bad experience. It's a cool spot to come by have a few beers order some food can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Overall been here a handful of time, and will continue coming here in the future, and can't wait for the indoor dining to open again read more

I came here last night and had a great time with friends. I ordered a soju Lychee yogurt cocktail and it was delicious and sweet. They have an extensive menu for you to choose from and happy hour at the start of the night for 20% off. The staff is kind and attentive, they have a call button whenever you need them. My friends and I shared the kimchi spam rice, spicy pork, and kimchi stew. All the dishes were a good portion size and were hot, fresh from the kitchen. The kimchi was flavorful and tart in both dishes. The spicy pork had a delightful kick to it and was so satisfying. Highly recommend coming here with a group and enjoying a great night out. They have k-pop music playing in the background from a TV to keep the energy going. Such a lovely interior space. read more

GREAT FOOD, BAD SERVER Background: (I am also a server) I have been coming here for a little over a year and the food here is just wonderful, however... The service can be spotty. Most of the time the service is okay and on occasion it will be terrible. Example: During my last visit our server had the worst attitude. I had no idea why, but we brushed it off since it didn't seem like a big deal. Then he forgot part of our order. Again, wasn't a big deal. Then he got part of our order wrong. Decently annoyed but still, not a big deal. Then when he dropped off part of our food, he used the portable stove to clear some space by pushing all of our things to the side. He did this rather aggressively which dropped my phone to the floor. His eyes looked up at the phone that fell and without saying anything, walks away. That was so disrespectful. He made us so uncomfortable during our meal that we didn't want to ask him for anything else even when he got our order wrong. He did calm down towards the end but the damage was already done and it was a bad experience. Conclusion: As much as I love this place, this left a bad taste in my mouth and I won't be coming back for a while. *I recommend this place only if you have nowhere else better to go* read more

No yakitori after 1030. Was not advertised, ruined 3/4 of guests plans for dinner. Unfortunately it was all downhill from there: the sake we requested was out, multiple other apps we requested were out, etc. Last call for food was at 12; also not advertised. Should've left and gone somewhere else when we heard about the yakitori. If it's between this place or 7-11 across the street.... Choose 7-11. At least you wont waste a bunch of money, have literally no one care, and leave disappointed. read more

Sojukaya is an izakaya restaurant that claims that it has a mixed theme of Japanese and Korean cuisine. I tried this restaurant for the first time with my family. Once you enter the restaurant, you will see that it is full of Korean posters of actresses who are showcasing soju, and the interior of the restaurant is decorated with Japanese figurines. Once you go deeper inside the restaurant, the setup is mostly dark. They also have big TV screens where you can watch your sports games while drinking alcohol. We tried their yakitori and what mainly carried their yakitori was the sauce. It was pretty good. But don't order their pineapple sausage because it didn't even taste like pineapple and the sausage was subpar. You can buy better sausages at Costco. We also ordered their beef yakisoba, beef bulgogi, grilled chicken gizzard, and soy pork belly. Rating for the aforementioned food: 1. Beef yakisoba - this is their best dish because of the seasoning. The vegetables were still crunchy and not overcooked. The beef was still kinda tough but at least the cut was bite sized. I would rate this 4/5. 2. grilled chicken gizzard - this is not good because they don't know how to cook the gizzard. I felt like I was eating rubber. To lose the toughness of a gizzard you should boil them first, but here they just grill it. Do not order this! I rate this 1/5. 3. Beef bulgogi - The flavor was really good, but they did not tenderize the meat properly. The rating for this is 3/5. 4. Soy pork belly - this was not the typical Korean or Japanese style pork belly because the sauce was different. The sauce was like a mixture of mayonaise, cayene and a bit of ketchup. The meat was really tender. 5/5 5. Yakitori- everything was good 5/5 Customer service is good and it was easy to contact the servers because the call buttons are located on the table. I would rate their service 5/5. Sadly, their restroom is dirty. And they also don't clean their soap dispensers. Overall, I would treat this as a Korean restaurant and not as a Japanese restaurant, because their food mainly uses Korean flavorings. The ambience is really cool and a great setting for big groups of people. Also, big plus is their HAPPY HOUR special where you get 20% off everything minus the Yakitori (Japanese bbq) menu. I would recommend this place. read more

Super fast service! I love when Korean bars have the little button to call the server & the cherry on top is when they come right away! The prices are decent, and they give really good complimentary popcorn (yes there's refills). Parking is super easy as well. Their curly fries are good as well (just be warned that it's literally fries that are curled - not the american version lol, but still really good)! read more

The food was delicious! For starters we order the spicy garlic edamame and calamari tempura, both were very good. For our main dishes, I ordered Spicy Squid with Pork Belly for $29.99 with a side of white rice (during happy hour it's 20% off the menu) and my boyfriend ordered the Beef Yaki Udon for $14.99. Both dishes were super delicious, well seasoned and had the perfect about of spice. Dishes come in big portions, enough for 3-4 people so the pricing makes sense and is well worth it. We will be coming back! Highly recommend. read more

No at the end of the day the service since day one was not good. Like I said we put up with it for the food. The least they could have common courtesy.
