I previously left a rave review for Soho Nails but needed to update my review for 2 reasons - late start to appointments and cracking gel polish. I have now had an appointment with Kim 3x and all three times my appointment has started no LESS than 15 minutes late. The second time I came in she was not even close to done the client she was working on and I waited 25 minutes. I wouldn't mind if I got a call letting me know they were late or even if I just got an apology for the delay but nothing. Just jumping in starting 25 min after the appointment time. I was prompted to write this review after coming in AGAIN and seeing Kim not even applying polish yet on a long gel x set for another client when my appointment started 5 min prior. If they cancel the appointment if you don't show up in 15 min its not appropriate to make the client wait a long time. I'm drafted this while still waiting 25 min after my appointment started. The second reason for updating my review is that my gel polish cracked off and bubbled in spots on my thumb 2 weeks after application. Upon looking it up it seems that the cracking can be due to improper nail bed prep. It made the thumb look bad enough I came in for a full gelx removal only 2.5 weeks after getting the set on. Previously I was really satisfied with the treatment but won't be back again for the gel x from Kim. For both these reasons I'll be trying a new team member or a new spot all together. read more

My first experience was great, I loved everything. They also were great with my ND child. My second experience was mediocre. My pedicure was okay but I don't think enough attention was put to the calluses. The real area of concern was my manicure. I do not usually get a manicure because they tend to come off quickly. This time that wasn't the problem but just the way they were done (see photos). I didn't notice until after I left and because I rarely get my nails done I wasn't sure. I understand that keeping it back from the cuticle helps with longevity but I think this was a bit extreme. It is very quiet and calm in the salon. They are very nice. I would likely go back for my pedicure but likely not for my manicure. read more

I made an appointment and was seen pretty quickly. It was my first time there and honestly didn't feel very welcomed. My nail tech spent the whole time talking to two other nail techs. My nails came out okay but there are definitely not perfect like I am use to with hard gel. Also due to her talking the whole time she filed into the side wall of one of nail, so my nail bed is exposed some and it hurts. Not sure if I would go back. My nails look fine but I didn't feel welcomed and I left with a hurt nail. Update: it's been a few hours and I notice a few on my nails hurt near the side walls, so my nails were over drilled on multiple nails. read more

A different technician did my sns manicure nails, and there has not been any chipping as of now, and I know the previous service did not last a week before it started to chip away. I must say I'm pleased with my nails this go around. The service time projected on the website matched closely with the time I spent receiving service. It's always scary trying somewhere new but please do not hesitate to visit here. Staff is very welcoming and they were adequately staffed to take walk ins. Kim was able to shape my nail into the perfect almond and did a great French. I did a polish change on my toes with another staff member that also did a great job. I want to start with I love my nails. Love love love. Obsessed. Love the color, love the shape, love the service. I told the woman the front desk what I wanted and I picked out a color and it was too orange and she went and pulled some for me to look at. Brian was great, checked in throughout to see if I liked them. The only reasons I'm making it 4 stars is the price. I I've gone a few places and typically get the same thing (gel powder fill with gel polish and chrome) and it usually ranges in price from 50-70. It was 80 here, without tip. While I love my nails, I'm not sure if I'm willing to pay 80 for a fill, but I would def consider it given how much I like my nails! Request Brian, he's the best!! read more

I have been to Soho 3 times. The 2nd to last time, I got gel polish for the first time with Anne. It was my 1st experience with gel polish period. It went well. However, this last time I scheduled an appt with Anne again for the removal and replacement of the gel polish. I show up a few minutes early and let the person at the front know I have a 5:15 with Anne. I also let them know I need to use the restroom and they point me to it. I come out of the restroom and this older lady says you wanted your nails done and I'm like yes, I have an appt with Anne. She says come with me so I go and she starts my nails. So, I'm thinking maybe she is just removing the gel polish and then Anne comes in later. Idk, this is my first time getting gel polish removed. However, what I did notice is she is not attentive to my nails. While she is using the electric drill on my nails, she keeps looking away at the door frequently like she's the receptionist. But she's not since they have a receptionist! I definitely felt her slip off the side of at least 1 nail during that time. She paints them. She half asses the massage and I don't get the organic spa manicure I scheduled the appointment for. When I was paying, I mentioned again for the 4th or 5th time, I had an appointment with Anne and I scheduled the organic spa manicure which I wasn't given and the lady was like "Yeah, your Leslie right" to which I said no. No apology... She was just like we can add the organic now if you want and I was like no. I just wanted to leave at that point. The paint job wasn't the greatest either. See pictures for reference. Not to mention, that nail I knew she hit the side of cracked badly in less than 2 days. I called them about it and they said I could come in to get it fixed that day or the next but it was cracked to the point, it hurt when anything touched it. Therefore, I knew going in to let people touch it to fix it would be a painful thing for me so I skipped it. Also note, a 2nd nail also cracked about 5 days after this manicure. I will go back to see Anne but I have learned my lesson and I'm sharing this for others who, like me, did not know. In the future, I will make sure when I show up, they know who I am and that I'm given the correct person. read more

I just can't bring myself to spend 50%-100% more for a spa manicure or pedicure than other nice salons in town, so as nice of a job as they did I won't be a regular. read more

I'm so torn on this review. Long story short, it really matters who your tech is. You may get a 1 star tech and you make it a 5+ star tech. Yesterday I got 1 star service. I used to LOVE this place. I went frequently when I lived closer but last year we moved 25min away and I haven't been back until yesterday when I really wanted to treat myself. When I came before, I always saw ? Ann I think her name was? She was truly the best - I would get acrylics. She would always ask if I liked the shape and would change it if I wanted even the littlest change. I'm picky, I admit it ... she would always take the extra time and I tipped well because I was keeping her a little longer. I didn't book with her yesterday because I was getting gel -x and I thought "well, they are pre-shaped, I don't need to be as picky about who does them." (Sigh) $70+ later and telling the random tech that I wasn't happy with how they looked .... I have some ratchet nails. When I saw what they looked like after application I asked for a different polish color than what I originally picked because I didn't want to draw any attention to them. The tips simply don't fit my nail bed. I am stunned that a professional allowed this to be the work that left the door. When I commented that I didn't like how they looked, I was told it's because I asked for short - almond shape. I admit, I accidentally asked for the wrong shape, but the inappropriate fit wall-to-wall is the real problem here. These tips simply do not fit my nail and I'm really disappointed that something wasn't done to fix that. In the end, only one nail fit properly. Additionally, the placement is unfortunate- some of them are lifted so high off my real nail underneath, that there is a giant pocket under it. I got them done yesterday and it's already filling with disgusting, unsanitary crud. I admittedly bite my nails very short, so it's harder to keep them from angling upward, but it's possible to have this not happen because I've had it done - AT SOHO none the less. Yes, it takes longer but for $70 I don't feel it's unrealistic to expect this not happen. Needless to say, I'm unlikely to make the drive over again and I'm going to need to remove at least one to redo it myself. read more

I haven't gotten my nails done since the start of the pandemic in 2020, due to the initial precautions but now due to laziness. I needed to get my nails done for my friend's wedding next week and wanted to try a different nail salon than the one I used to go to in Durham. I made an appointment online which was super easy and convenient because I try to avoid phone calls if I can. I got to the salon and was seated at a pedicure chair within a minute. I was too busy looking at colors for my SNS powder that I didn't get a chance to find a nail polish color for my toes. But the nail tech said I could pick a color from the SNS swatches and she would go find the polish which I thought was very nice. So I have only gotten a pedicure once in my life but because I'm so ticklish I just didn't think I could do it again. There were only a few seconds that really made me ticklish so it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! Since I don't really get pedicures, I opted for the jelly spa one and I really enjoyed it. The nail tech who did my SNS did such an amazing job! She was so fast and the SNS is just the right thickness for me. I'm very happy with my nails! read more

Every technician I have had, has done great work. This visit I made an appointment with Anna on a Saturday afternoon. I was seen at my appointment time and Anna was nothing short of amazing. She was personable, kind, and provided quality work. I don't know about you, but I loathe feeling like quantity trumps quality at nail spas. This is the second time I had an appointment with Kebi and she's amazing! The first time I got Gel-X extensions and she took the time to make sure they were a good length for me (I don't love having super long nails), and she also suggested a color for me which was absolutely perfect. Today I got a regular gel manicure and she took the extensions off so gently! She did a great job with making sure I like the shape and the color. She's very nice and a great nail tech! Disappointed. Called and made an appt for a gel pedicure. Arrived on time. Sat at pedicure chair that didn't have hot water. They had to pour the hot water in. Waited over 30 minutes for a technician. Manager did not advise me one time there would be a delay, how long wait was. Not very professional. I had to continue to ask how much longer the wait would be. My technician did apologize a few times which was nice. But I ended up sitting in chair almost 2 hours!!! I needed to get my nails done before a work trip this week and I found Soho Nails Spa on Yelp! They had tons of reviews and lots of good ones! Not going to lie, I definitely waited til the last minute to try and find an appointment and wasn't feeling too optimistic after realizing many salons aren't even open on Sunday. I was happy that they were quick to respond and were able to fit me in last minute. I seldom get my nails done, but when I do, I usually go for a full set with gel. This time I didn't choose any designs or trendy color palettes and stuck with a cerulean blue OPI color. The technician did a great job on my nails and was really nice. I wish I asked for her name! I'm sure she judged my horrifying cuticles but she didn't make me feel like it haha. The salon looked really clean and Everyone was wearing masks. I will definitely be coming back! read more

Went here for a bachelorette group of four. I emailed the design over the day before didn't hear anything back so I called they said they would take a look at it, never got back to me. Fast forward. Were there the nail design lady is running late. Didn't even know she was supposed to be doing a design. My other sister picked a white glitter color, it turned out blue And the tech looked just as surprised. Offered to put a white top coat. Didn't really change the color much! Still light blue:) as for my nails the tech left the blue residue dip powder all over my nails and did not remove it! I'm sorry? That just included in a manicure or something to make sure the nails don't have the powder residue? Also 20$ to add chrome is JUST outrages. I'm glad they gave my sister (the bride) good service but as for the 3 other party members I don't they really gave a crap! And if I'm paying 60$ for nails I expect at the very least a clean looking nail. And couldn't even get that. I was frankly very dissapointed, dissatisfied and EMBARRASSED. As it was my job to pick the nail salon and thought I vetted this place enough with good reviews! So I'm here to tell you how they actually treat you :) and that the quality is NOT worth their prices. Received an acrylic set with gel polish. Nails were shaped well and overall done well. It's been 2 weeks and I'll be going back for a fill. Very happy. I would suggest for the clinician to let clients know total cost prior to applying. For ex. the addition to the set like extra costs for nail shape, gel polish and any design. It might be listed somewhere but easier and more transparent to know charges up front. A very good nail spa. read more

Told them that I was getting the Royal Pedicure and her response was "for $65 right" .... Why would you ask me that? I made an appointment prior to coming and all. I'm so tired of people acting like black people don't have money, these little comments are not slick & they don't go unnoticed. I'm sure if i was white, that wouldn't have even been said. Also they didn't even let my feet soak in the jelly pedicure at all before starting, isn't that part of the whole experience? I thought this would be an easy A since I didn't even get polish on my toes since I'm giving myself a break from polish. Everything felt rushed and it wasn't that many people in there. Hot stones weren't even warm. Then she tried to skip the paraffin wax and so I had to say something. I will never be back here and I wish I read the negative reviews before coming. read more

I would recommend this place only if you're getting your nails done by Hannah. She's the manager. And she's very friendly and funny. However there was a gentleman there that did my mani and I wouldn't recommend him. There is a big language barrier and he didn't understand most of what I asked for. So what's the point if you're paying for a service and not getting what you want? He's also very rough and left my cuticles very choppy.
