I recently moved to Cary from California, and I was desperate to find a good new nail place. I had gone to the same salon in Cali for 10 years, so there are big shoes to fill. Anyway, I made an appointment for 2:15 on a Saturday, and when I arrived the salon was not too busy. My pedicure was first. I did not catch my technician's name, but she did a very good and thorough job. My feet turned out clean, soft, and pretty. The only bummer is she was unable to do a design on my toes like I always had done at my old place. Next, I had a gel manicure. She did a very good job of cleaning and caring for my nails. She did a good job on the painting itself, except for my pinky nail on my left hand. Part of it was not covered. Luckily, I chose a subtle color and the spot is on the side so it's not very noticeable. The shop was clean, the staff was friendly enough, and I got a decent mani-pedi. I'm convinced I will never find a salon I love as much as my old one in CA, but I enjoyed my experience and will likely be back regularly as long as I'm living in the area. read more

VIP has been under new ownership since January 2017. I stopped in after work on a weekday and getting a pedicure was not an issue at all. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. You pick your nail polish color from the plastic palettes in a basket and they match up the number to the OPI and other bottles. The basic pedicure is $27 and there are a few options beyond that. Erica did a fantastic job and got my feet and toes summer-ready. They are located in the Harris Teeter shopping center on Davis Drive next to Viva Mexico. Walk-ins are welcome or appointments. First time here as a walk based on yelp reviews and I was not disappointed! Got a regular pedi for $27 and it was definitely worth it. I didn't feel rushed and the pedi turned out nicely. He spent a decent time with the massage, as well, which I appreciated. I would've liked him to apply more pressure, but I think he's more used to American sensitivities when it comes to massages. hahaha... I'm Asian and I appreciate pressure. Good hygiene- The entire store appears clean and well laid out. Everything appeared clean and all the utensils came out of their own bag. My guy wore latex gloves when working with my feet, except when it came time to paint my nails. Whether or not that bothers you is probably a matter of personal preference, but I don't mind. Downsides I would have liked them to exfoliate/slough off some more of the skin around my heels and the balls of my feet. He was able to smooth out my feet, but I can still feel some hard skin around my heels. Or maybe I just need to ask for that as an additional service? The nail colors are on those plastic nail samples, which I don't like. I'd rather look at the polish in the bottles, but those are all the way in the back. I didn't see any of their prices for their services laid out anywhere in the salon, even on a brochure. I think that is something they should do. I don't mind paying good money for good services, but I'd like to know what I'm paying for. I don't like being surprised with my bill. I'm not saying they cheated me or anything along those lines. I would just like the prices laid out and accessible. As a note- I walked in on a Thursday afternoon and it wasn't busy. This place seems equipped to handle a decent crowd (6 pedicure chairs and I think 8 manicure stations), but I don't know how busy they get at peak times. Loved this place! Got a French manicure in early March. I didn't have an appointment and got seen within a few minutes. It's 15 for a basic manicure (lasts a few days at most) and add ten to make it gel and it will last at least 2 weeks. Extra five for French so I paid 30 without tip which is very decent. Made my nails look beautiful and lasted along time (I wash my hands frequently and it still lasted like 2.5 weeks). I absolutely will not be backup get my nails done. I walked in at 4:30 on a Monday evening. I was greeted by a younger girl and told to have a seat. There was not 1 customer in the place, there was multiple nails stylists sitting around the salon yet, I still had a 10 minute wait. The reason why, the girl was too busy painting her own nails!! After about 5 minutes of waiting she asked if I had picked out a color and I told her yes. She finished painting one hand and took another 5 minutes to let them dry and get he station set up. The first thing she said when she came over to me was that she didn't like the color on her own nails... Then, she looks at my hands and continues to tell me how small my nails are. She asks multiple times if I want to make them longer and I tell her, "no, I would like a gel French manicure". It only gets worse from here. She trimmed my nails, told me how small they were , asked if I bite them, and started on the polish all while she chomped on her gum. I didn't not received a hand massage, futile soak or anything that I had received at other salons for a manicure. Basically I paid $30 for nail polish which clipped off hours after I left. I've always gone to Cameron nails and never had a problem - however I live in Morrisville so was hoping to find a place closer to my home rather than work. Heard mixed reviews on VIP but decided to try for myself. Pros: - Staff was super friendly. - They have a very gentle technique of removing the gel color that didn't damage my nails which was nice. - Manicure was done very well - nails looked great shape wise and cuticle wise. Cons: - I went with a light shimmer color. They put 2 coats on one hand and 3 coats on the other, which made my nails 2 different shades! One hand was darker than the other because of this. - The color only last 1 week before it started to chip off. In the year I've done gel color I've never had it last that short. Overall if you're not picky, you'd be fine with a regular manicure. But the short length of the gel color staying on before shipping off was a let down. Will probably still with my normal salon unless I get in a pickle and need to get a quick manicure then I'll come back to VIP. read more

Why do i always get stuck with the new person it never ends well. Smh. I did not enjoy my pedicure it was very awkward and not relaxing. My mani was ok. Ive been here multiple times this year and it is my go to place for manicure and pedicure when I want to feel pampered. Cely always does a great job and my gel manicure lasts for a long time. I'm surprised this place has such great reviews! Maybe I just went in on a bad day? Me and 2 other coworkers went in the day before Valentine's Day. We called in before hand so we didn't have a wait at all. The decor was cute and the staff was friendly BUT this was probably the worst manicure/pedicure I've ever gotten. 1 coworker got started with her pedicure before I did and by the time she got to her manicure, my pedicure AND manicure was done! She definitely rushed through mine and barely gave me a proper massage and when I looked over at my coworker, her person was doing all this extra stuff that mine wasn't doing (we both got regular pedicures). Here's the gross part: they used the same scrub block for 2 different people. I know our feet our clean but who knows what the people who came in before us had on their feet, eek!! 2 days later, half my manicure was already gone and you could barely tell I got a pedicure. I have visited VIP Nails twice in recent months. On both visits I got a pedicure with nail art. I had two different staff members and was very pleased with both. They were very thorough and did a nice job. I really appreciate that they use an autoclave to sterilize their equipment and open the sealed pouch in front of you. I didn't feel like either staff member rushed through my pedicure. Each one lasted about 45 minutes. I believe they do the best job with nail art that I've ever had. I also think their prices are very reasonable, particularly considering the quality of service. On my first visit, I also had a manicure. I was less satisfied with this than the pedicure. It seemed like the staff person was rushed and I honestly think I could have done a better job myself. So, I skipped the manicure on my second visit. Friendly staff, but my liquid gel full set (the most I've ever paid, $55), came off after less than a week. They graciously redid the ones that broke (many) however the second round didn't last long either, one flew off three days later when I hit the counter while cooking. Three more came off easily within the week. I called the shop hoping to get a refund or even just have them take off my nails and do something different and the owner insisted that I bit my nails off. He was kind, but was not interested in the possibility that it was anything other than my fault that my nails came off. Would not recommend for liquid gel full set. read more

Finally! Finally!!! I moved to NC 2 years ago and have had a difficult time finding a good place to get my nails done. I am happy to say that I found it!! I have now had a full set and 2 fill-ins. They have been extraordinary - (I posted a few pictures). Some of the great things about the salon: it is owned and operated by a female!! It is amazing to feel like my money is going to the person who deserves it and not some man behind the scenes! ALSO -- they work with the gel -- so if you have allergies to acrylic you will have much much less of a reaction. My appointments take a normal amount of time- (not too long). And my daughter had a pedicure here and she said it was also good. Everyone is friendly and the place is clean. ALSO- I have now booked appointment myself online and had NO problems. They are ready for me when I get there. The only downside is that the prices are not posted anywhere in the store~ but they are posted online, so at least I know they are not being sneaky. I have a nail license and I have worn nails since the 80s--- I typically get my nails done every 3 weeks, but now I am going every 2 weeks (only because I can't afford every week!) LOVE it here at VIP nails!! read more

Today was my first visit to this salon and first gel manicure. I was happy with the service and the staff. Everyone was friendly. Their website advertises complementary wine but they did not offer wine or any other drinks. Not a big deal I didn't care for any. The problem I had is that five hours later my manicure and pedicure are chipping. It's not a service worth paying for if it starts chipping the same day. I enjoyed the staff but won't be doing my nails here. I think I'll be doing my nails myself from now on. A very expensive lesson learned. read more
