I got my first brazilian wax at the age of 20 (roughly 6 year ago) and have probably only had 2 or 3 good esthetician's who made the experience as enjoyable as possible. Rachel by far exceeded any other experience I've ever had. She maintained good conversation, completely taking my mind off the fact that I am getting waxed. She moved quickly, but was also very attentive and gentle. I experienced the barest minimum of pain. I wouldn't even call it pain, more like very minimal discomfort. I found this waxing studio via Groupon- my regular lady was booked- and I wavered on whether or not to write a review...but I figure maybe this will serve as constructive feedback on the service I received. Let me start with the positive. The service was super quick and thorough, and the space was clean. That being said, going to a new salon for a Brazilian wax can be a little awkward for some, so I think it's the service provider's job to help the client feel comfortable. My interaction with her started off super weird and, honestly, it was off-putting. I walked in and the woman behind the counter asked if I was there for a wax. No hi, hello, hey, cat, dog, nothing. Oooooookay....so I tell her yes, I'm Danielle and I have a 2pm (or whatever time) appointment. She stands up and says "Follow me." At this point I still have no idea who she is, if she's a receptionist or providing the service (she hasn't introduced herself), so I ask if she's the "waxer." In a snarky tone, she says "Yes, I'm the ESTHETICIAN, and I'm the only one here who provides this service." Then she finishes off by saying if I want someone else to do the wax I'm basically out of luck. So now in my mind I'm like TF? A few things are going through my mind about why she seems to have an attitude with me, but my boyfriend is coming to town and I need this handled today so whatever. Eventually she warms up and becomes more pleasant...but it was just a super weird and awkward intro. I mean, if you can get the Groupon, check her out I guess. The service I received from Rachel was absolutely fabulous. I had my eyebrows done and she was a miracle worker. I went in with unruly fuzzy caterpillars of brows and came out with beautiful tamed brows. I have extremely sensitive skin.
