I always look for great reviews from other reviewers but I also read for content. It really was fresh, great authentic Korean flavors. We had to ask for kimchi, which I thought was unusual but maybe bc I'm in Austin. I'd definitely eat here again. We had bulgogi, fried boneless honey chicken, pork belly wraps and soft tofu and pork soup. Delicious.
I was craving Korean food, so we decided to give SOHA a try, and it absolutely did not disappoint!!! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with genuine warmth and such positive energy. The welcoming atmosphere, attentive service, and chill vibe made us feel right at home. Every dish we ordered was outstanding and packed with flavor. The seafood pancake was cooked to crispy perfection, something that's surprisingly hard to find, as it's often left a bit doughy at other restaurants. The steamed egg was light, fluffy, and comforting, while the spicy tofu pork soup was phenomenal. It had just the right amount of heat, with silky, melt-in-your-mouth tofu and incredibly tender pork belly that paired perfectly with a bowl of rice. What truly elevated the experience, though, was the service. At one point I accidentally dropped my chopsticks, and before I could even ask for another pair, one of the servers noticed from across the restaurant and immediately brought me a new set. It's those small, thoughtful touches that really set a restaurant apart. SOHA exceeded my expectations in every way. If you're looking for authentic, flavorful Korean food with genuinely exceptional hospitality, this is the place. It has officially become a must-visit every time I'm in Austin.
Returned to try fried chicken and it was likely the best Korean fried chicken in Austin. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, we had such a good time! It was not very busy on Friday evening, surprisingly, so we got to have a table for two right the way!
Had the best experience here! Food is absolutely delicious. Great service. Open late. Cozy chill vibes. Kpop in the background. Lots of yummy soju to choose from. We ended up getting hot sake which was perfect with our dishes. For foods, we got: -seafood pancake: best I've ever had! -kimchi shrimp fried rice with egg on top: delicious! We opted to have the cheese on the side so we could try it out. It wasn't bad, just different. -tofu jalapeño sprout soup- sooo good and flavorful. So grateful to find this gem of a place through Yelp while visiting Austin. Thank you from Long Beach, CA!
We flew into Austin late in the evening, stepping outside the airport and immediately feeling the warm night air of a summer not yet ready to go away. Being somewhere new always brings about feelings of excitement, uncertainty and resourcefulness regardless of how long or why you happened to find yourself in this new place. First on the list was uncertainty & resourcefulness. It was 11:45PM and my traveling companion has a somewhat limited range of foods her palate enjoys. Humorously enough, she is not a big fan of barbecue, yet she pleaded, no! She insisted we come to Austin and she cited the food as one of the reasons and incentives to do so. So here we are, late at night and starving, but 'One' of us has decided she does not feel like barbecue or Whataburger at this hour. So I pulled out my 21st century swiss-army knife and looked on my yelp app to see what would satisfy my hunger and quelch her mouth. My life & travel companion lists Korean food as her favorite and the Korean 'suljip', loosely translated to alcohol house, is usually open late. Once again the universe & synchronicity was on my side because SOHO was just minutes from our hotel and they happened to be open until 2:00AM. We walked in like a bunch of cowboys who hadn't had a home-cooked meal in forever and a day. We ordered it all, the gizzard, 2 kinds of dumplings, corn cheese, tteokbokki, galbi, jjigae, fried chicken and etc. I'll stop here out of courtesy to you but the list goes on and on and that's not including the beer and soju. SOHO looks like a suljip located in a small square of Koreatown in Los Angeles or a suburban Southern California neighborhood. It's not great but it's not bad, plus they're open late. Food like this is easy to make but also easy to mess up. I'm not too aware of the population in Austin but if SOHO is one of the few Korean style 'suljips' it is worth going to, however it would probably struggle to be noticed in a more crowded market. Stay being resourceful and grateful my friends...
Late night Korean food with hospitable staff in a relaxed atmosphere. SOHA has everything I was looking for. The Kimchi fried rice was exactly what I needed especially with added pork to the entree. The presentation was perfect with the melted cheese surrounding the kimchi fried rice and an egg on top. Served on a warm plate so the cheese stayed perfectly gooey during the meal. Paired with a lychee sake this is my ideal comfort meal! I anticipate returning so I can try more soothing Korean food dishes.
My 2 friends and I dined in on a busy Sunday night at 9:30 pm and were immediately sat at the only table left. there was plenty of free parking outside of the restaurant in the parking lot. There is a QR code on the table for you to scan to pull up the menu on your phone. We decided to share a $40 Korean army stew, which took 25 minutes to be delivered to our table. It was presented in a large pot on a gas portable stove. They offered bowls of rice which was included with the $40. Since it is meant to be shared, they gave us a large ladle and extra serving bowls. It was quite spicy, but not to the point where it was unenjoyable. The stew was packed with rice cakes, spam, tofu, hot dog, carrots and napa cabbage. The raw ramen noodles were still intact in a circle, but it cooked quickly over the fire. It was so salty to the point that I had I chug water in between bites. The serving was so large that we left full and even brought home 2 large soup containers of leftovers. It can get quite loud in here, but it is an awesome spot to bring a group of friends, it seems that there are a lot of college aged kids that come enjoy the late operating hours.
We got the following: * Pa Dak - Sweet soy sauce glazed fried chicken with scallions $26.99 - this was ABSOLUTELY SUPER DELICIOUS! * 잡채 (Japchae) Korean Glass Noodle with Beef $18.99 * 비빔밥 (Bibimbob) Rice & Assorted Vegetable $12.99 * Bulgogi - Stir-fried Korean beef BBQ with vegetables $19.99 One of the few places opened late! We got food for our friends since they had a much later flight than us that was delayed so late night eats! The staff was friendly and working hard!
Overall: 3.9/5 [Postmates Delivery] We ordered on Postmates and the food delivered earlier than expected. Packaging was nicely done, and the portion size was generous. Galbi/Korean Short Ribs ($26.49): Really solid! Good amount of meat, great flavor, and not too fatty. Definitely preferred this over the samgyubsal--would order again. Samgyubsal/Grilled Pork Belly ($24.99): The pork belly pieces were huge, but they didn't have much flavor. It came with a side of lettuce (wrapped separately), white rice, and two small sauces--one was sesame oil, and the other was ssam (I think). The ssam had all the flavor, so I wish they'd given us more. Luckily, we had some kimchi in the fridge, so we threw together a lettuce wrap, and that made it way better.
I ordered the boneless fried chicken with sweet soy sauce, a seafood pancake, fried dumplings, and fries for Kareoke nearby. The food is good, but the packaging to go is not as safe for you health wise. The heat melted the styrofoam boxes. Just FYI. The service was great. Everyone is very nice. Helpful over the phone too. Ambiance is very casual. East going.
"What happens at SOHA stays at SOHA." Well, that's what happens when you drink too much soju at SOHA, haha. You forget what happened. I'm just kidding, but I'm not kidding at the same time. SOHA is an incredible place with incredible staff, so let's get into the review! ---- Let's get into the review: Pros: - Late hours - Parking is abundant (in front/lot) - Food is delicious - Dive-like feel (love this part) - Friendly staff Side Notes: - Closed on Mondays - Hours: 5 PM until 2 AM What We Got: - Too much soju - Corn cheese - Steamed soft egg - Seafood pancake - Galbi - Yang dak (fried chicken) - Fish cake soup - Military soup ---- Design/Space: This spot reminds me of LA to Korea, where we call them sool-jibs (술집) or pochas (포차), places where you can drink and eat street food (SOHA has a lot more than street food) with your close friends. The vibes are perfect, with the photos all over the walls, Korean movies, or songs blasting in the background/TVs. They can arrange tables for larger groups, but it can get pretty packed quickly, so plan accordingly. Food/Drinks: The food is incredible; paired with soju, it hits the spot every time we've been there. We have ordered so much there, and they allow takeout, too. The fried chicken to galbi is so good the day after, haha. SOHA is one of the better spots in Austin for authentic Korean food and drinks. Go crazy with it, but the corn cheese and soft egg to start as apps is our go-to, and some soup and meat dishes pair nicely. They also have a special somaek (소맥: beer + soju) contraption that swirls together for you to have at the table - check it out for larger groups! Staff: From the owner to the staff, everyone is incredibly hard-working, quick, and respectful. I am biased towards the owner because he gives to so many people, so I will always tell people to go to SOHA because he offers customer service and pushes his staff to provide. Opportunities To Improve: Less soju, hahaha. I have a hate/love relationship with it, but it comes with the overall experience. Call Uber if you plan on drinking. ---- Summary: This is one of the top spots for Korean food ambiance and the perfect spot to eat alone or with a large group. If you love Korean food or are interested, come by SOHA and check it out. You won't be disappointed!
This was our post-ACL spot. We like it because it's open late and far enough away from Zilker park that getting in and out was pretty easy. It's a very small restaurant and there was only one server at the time so service was a bit slow, but she was very polite and you could tell she was hustling so I wasn't too bothered by it. The menu is full of all of the comfort foods you'd want in Korean cuisine. We got a spread of cheese corn, seafood pancake, galbi (short-rib) and japchae. The corn cheese was buttery and cheesy, probably my favorite of what we ordered. The galbi was flavorful and the sizzling plate was a nice touch to the presentation. The seafood pancake was good also, it was pretty standard for a pancake. What I was disappointed in was the japchae. The flavor was there, but it was soupy. It's definitely not what I was expecting for my favorite noodles. Despite the soupy noodles, I left full and happy! This is a great place for some Korean comfort food!
Real Authentic Korean Food, great atmosphere and the waiters are super nice and open to any questions. This is a really great place to go with like a group of friends.
Wow! This place stays open late as the kitchen didn't close until 130am. Bye bye fast food and say Hello! We loved the vibe here and ordered a ton...Soju and a big Hite beer, a Kimchi Pancake, Kimchi Fried Rice w cheese and egg, Dumplings with our Ricecake in spicy sauce that had fishcake and Soba in the mix--all of it was great. The Kimchi pancake was the best I've had in town and we thought we'd tried all the Korean places from Austin to Round Rock. The Ricecake dish was the real winner though--the spicy flavor and heat was spot-on delicious. Even the kimchi fried rice had everything evenly coated and was very good. We're never going anywhere else for late food in Austin again. read more

I'm glad there's more Korean food popping up in the Austin food scene! Soha was quite small and intimate with dum lighting. The music wasn't blasting and there were TVs to keep you entertained. Our waiter was nice but we kept having to remind him on what we needed. The dumplings were really crispy and had a savory filling. The bulgolgi wasn't anything too special but it sure was filling. My friend had ordered the kimchi fried rice and I wasn't a fan of kimchi but that dish was incredible! Everything paired well together. read more

On any late nights when you're just craving a filling, warm, comfort food - SOHA really does hit the spot. I accidentally came upon this place when my friends and I were looking for a place to eat at midnight and man, we haven't stopped coming back. Within the span of a month, I've probably been to this place once or twice every single week. My wallet may not be happy but my stomach sure is. Recommendations: - Gamjatang / Spicy Pork Rib Soup: SO GOOD. I would highly recommend buying either a small or medium to share with the table. Delicious flavor, lots of meat and potato and they bring it to you hot pot style. A bit on the pricier side but definitely hits the spot if you're looking for something warm. - Kimchi Stew: Similar flavor as the Spicy Pork Rib Soup except for Pork belly. You might want this if you prefer more kimchi and if you don't want to pick around the rib bones - Cheese Corn: Really really good, something about the cheese that they use really makes the flavor profile unique and addicting. My friends and I were pleasantly surprised by this appetizer I've also tried their Spicy Rice Cakes and Fried Chicken. Presentation wise - spot on. I was impressed by the aesthetic of the food all the time. The spicy rice cakes were a bit too sweet for my taste and the fried chickens were pretty standard. Both were definitely on the pricier side. Aside from that, ambiance of the place was really nice. They have fairy lights everywhere and provided a nice korean pub vibe. Highly recommend for date or small group gatherings. Staff is also super attentive and nice :)) read more

Food is great, very very traditional Korean food, love it. Beef intestines combination are the best, glad to find this dish in Austin! read more
Wide selection of incredible Korean dishes! I ordered the galbi which was served on a sizzling skillet. The meat was incredibly tender with a deliciously tangy marinade. I definitely want to come back to try the kimchi fried rice, cheese corn, seafood pancake, and other great menu items. Super chill, casual spot and entrees are fairly priced. Service was slow at times, but generally they seem to value their customers really well. There was a birthday dinner two tables down from us, and the entire restaurant played music and threw a celebration for them. read more

Food was really filling and tasted great. Both dishes we ordered hit the spot and are what you expect out of tteokboki and bulgogi. The ambiance was a bit too dark for my taste, although the spot is meant to be like a night time hang out spot. As for the service, both waiters were extremely helpful and nice to both my girlfriend and I. read more

**Trust those 1 & 2 star reviews** I really wanted to enjoy So Ha even after reading some of the reviews. Unfortunately for me it was a disappointment in many different ways. The location is small, quaint and relatively inviting. They had a pretty extensive menu and I was happy to see many of the Korean staples. Their menu prices are MUCH more than many other Korean restaurants, however I was willing to pay for a REALLY good Korean food. My son and I ordered an appetizer (fried dumplings), beef bibimbap and Korean chicken. The dumplings were overcooked on one side and they accompanied it with a pinch of sauce in a dipping bowl only for one of he 5 dumplings. The Korean chicken was overly saucy & over cooked. I was surprised that it was boneless thigh meat and not actually chicken pieces. The bibimbap was probably the best of the dishes however was still lacking in flavor even with the spicy sauce. As we started to wrap up, although we ate a fair amount, two dishes of the Korean fried chicken put us over. I decided to take the rest of the food home. I asked the waiter for to go boxes and 15 minutes later I was still waiting. As the restaurant started to fill up, I asked the other waitress for the to go boxes and check so that I could release the table and leave. After a few minutes she returns to the table and informs me that they charge for their to go boxes and that I would have to pay for them if I wanted to take my food. Wait a minute I dropped over $70 on just the food, NO TIP YET, and because I didn't finish, they charge customers to take it home. I am beyond shocked at this practice. Nowhere is this posted, at no time do they inform you until you ask for their Styrofoam container. I didn't order to go, I ate my meal there and ordered quite a number of dishes. They agreed to ONLY charge me for one to go container and at this point I was ready to just leave and never comeback. Needless to say, I won't be returning and the least I can do is inform those who may be considering this restaurant that the food is over prices, not that good and their dine in food to go practices and service is below par. read more
Smaller scaled restaurant but the food is delicious. Everything we had was a 5/5. Came here for a Tuesday dinner everything from the service to food was top notch. I would definitely recommend the seafood pancake. It was one of the crispiest and generous seafood portion I've seen in a seafood pancake. read more

Been wanting to try Soha ever since I ran across it as a delivery option. I thought "better try this place in-person", especially with rave reviews about atmosphere! There was not wait when we arrived, but the place was full! Happy about getting a table right away on a Sunday night around 8 PM. We ordered the steamed dumplings, pork rib soup, beef bulgogi, kimchi fried rice with fried egg, and spicy pork and baby octopus stir fry. Everything we tasted did not disappoint! I think my personal favorite was the bulgogi - the flavors melted in my mouth so harmoniously. I would recommended this place to anyone wanting food full of flavor and lots of it (portion sizes are generous). read more

We came in for a date night. This used to be 888 Restaurant in the past. The music selection and TVs shows definitely put you in a late night Korean food dining mood but the level is stadium loud. The food we ordered was hot and brought out one dish at a time and not all together. We received a pitcher of water with beer advertisement appropriately since all the alcohol choices can be seen from the tables. Service from the cashier waiter is good and all the customers seems happy. There are no banchans to eat only the picked radish with the fried and sauced up whole chicken. Overall good food but could've been better with lowering the level of music, banchans, and more flavorful stir fried beef and rice. read more
