Was so excited to try based on their reviews! Ordered chicken kabob platter, lamb gyro platter, and baba ganeush. Food looked and tasted like it was 3-4 days old (excepting for the kabob which seemed fresh). Threw away both side salads because lettuce was old and brown. Rice was watery (?!!!). Pita bread was tough. Lamb gyro looked like spam - leathery and dry. Worst takeout that I've ever had. I agree that the owner was nice and I'm sad that it's a rough time for everyone. But unfortunately I can't recommend a place where you have to debate whether it's worth the potential food poisoning to eat because you're so hungry or whether you should just take the hit and throw your $40 in the trash. read more

Sofra Kebab House on Parker and Alma is a buried treasure in Plano! We stumbled upon it searching for Mediterranean cuisine in the area, and with 4.7+ rating how could we not try it?! The entire family loves it and we have already been back. It's sooo good, flavorful, and clean! My picky 8 year old "gives it 5 stars", and my hard-to-please 14 year old says "we found our new ish and we will no longer go back to..." a well known Mediterranean buffet place. I honestly believe that yelp PRANKED me. There is no way this place actually has more than a 4 star rating. The place was completely deserted and empty. Not another customer in site. The buffet selection was incredibly lacking. What was offered was ridiculously salty that it was actually inedible. It should come with a sodium warning. We dined til close and we saw the owner close the remaining food to reuse. From the amount of food left I'd think the food isn't fresh at all and is reused for the whole week. The best authentic kebabs in the DFW metroplex. My wife and I spent four years in northern Iraq (Kurdistan) and have sampled numerous kebabs This is as authentic as it gets. Great spot for a good filling meal with family and friends! When we first walked in the worker (possibly owner) greeted all of us and kindly explained how the setup to get food worked. They have halal options, and a wide variety of delicious meats and veggies (lots of keto options) All the food was very flavorful. Based on the Yelp rating, I had solid expectations going in. If you're looking for good Mediterranean, skip this place and go to Pera For Turkish, or Afrah for Lebanese. You'll spend the same amount, but your meal will be leaps and bounds better. The location nice enough, on the interior portion of a shopping strip mall. The restaurant had 5 people in it when I arrived. Upon walking in, there is a "pay here" sign above the cash register next to the buffet. Unsure of whether to make a plate first or pay first, I waited for the man behind the counter to clarify. He didn't greet me so after a few minutes, I asked. Get your plate, pay after you eat. 11.99 for a single plate, 13.99 for all you can eat. A tiny hand written side implies you can order kebabs or Adana on the side for additional charge. I eat a lot of Mediterranean food, and was trying to find a good little Turkish spot closer to home. The buffet only had 3 meat options, a chicken dish with peppers and onions in water, a beef dish that was prepared the same, and chicken wings. I tried the chicken and beef dishes. The cold side of the buffet was lackluster, with what appeared to be pre-cut lettuce, a few dressings and a big tray of Turkish style cabbage. Cold grape leaves with rice, misc salad toppings and a few sweet items and two nondescript soups rounded out the buffet. I tried the chicken and beef dishes, the hummus, some of the salad and rice. The beef had been sitting in water/grease and although it had good flavor, the beef hadn't been trimmed before being cooked and was fatty/gristly. The chicken was saturated in water, there were no kalamata olives, and the pita bread tastes like store-bought that had been heated up. The Turkish cabbage was very plain, which was a real let down. The hummus was very thin, but tasted good, with a garlic bite. I hoped to love it, but couldn't even eat it. With such limited options, I hoped any of it would stand out, but it was all sub-par. I ordered the chicken kabob plate, beef kabob plate and baklava. The total bill was about 27 dollars which is pretty cheap considering how much food you get. The chicken kabobs were phenomenal. The chicken breast was moist and very well seasoned, it really reminded me of Reza's from Chicago. Unfortunately, the rice was a bit mushy but was still ok. My hubby and I had a wonderful lunch today. It's Saturday and they had a buffett. Everything was quite delicious including the lamb stew, yum. The owner was friendly and also included for the price fresh beef and chicken kabobs that he made in the back especially for us once he found out we'd like some. They were marinated and awesome. He then asked if we had dined there before. Since we had not, he explained how their buffets works and told us what was being served tonight. He then took our kabob order as they are made-to-order. We ordered 2 chicken and 1 beef. Once we sat down the pita/naan arrived. Also hot to order. The buffet does not have a lot of options compared to others. However, everything tasted awesome. Everything was hot and seasoned well. I would rather there be less options and taste good other than have many options that all don't taste well. Our kabobs came out served with a smile. The chicken is by far my favorite. How he is able to perfectly cook big pieces of chicken breast that are still juicy is beyond me!! Easily one of the best grilled chicken pieces I have ever eaten. Tonight was our first time in. A little slow for a Saturday night, but as others have said, we were lavished with hospitality by the owner as he greeted us and gave us a guided tour of the buffet. He was obviously proud of the authentic Turkish nature of his menu and took the time to patiently answer my questions about the difference between Turkish and other Mediterranean cuisine. The food on the buffet was delicious and both looked and smelled kitchen fresh despite us being one of only two couples in the restaurant. The fresh pita and made to order kebabs further elevated this beyond a normal buffet experience. The clean environment, the decor and music, and the phone charging stations spread along the walls made it 5-star ambiance to go with the 5-star food and 5-star service. Okay, I'm not nearly as funny and detailed as Alex, but I have to admit he was spot on. And honestly, he is the reason we went to this place just right down the street from us. This little gem, hidden in a nondescript shopping center, really has great food. I have always proclaimed I don't like lamb. Well, turns out, I like lamb cooked properly. I again ate the Chicken. I see a theme here. Actually we couldn't finish our kebabs we were too full. The Pita bread is to die for. Next time, I am eating potatoes (wow), humus, pita bread, Chicken Kebab and cake. The cake is an almond cake with a syrup used to make Baklava. Yum! Our problem is we just could eat a ton, probably a very good thing. We only went through the buffet once, by the time the kebabs were delivered we were already getting full. Turns out they don't eat a lot of rice in Turkey, and they rarely eat it by itself. It is very common to add something to it like Vermicelli. Who knew? The owner knew, he's Turkish!
