I came here with a group from work for a going away lunch. The ambiance has a Mediterranean feel. It was decorated festive for Ramadan. The service was good. It's pretty much self service you get your own drinks and the food is buffet style. So on to the food. I really wasn't sure what to expect. I like my food well seasoned and I've eaten Mediterranean food that was bland. I looked at the food online and it looked like there was a good variety and a coworker told me they thought it was good but I still had to see for myself. I got a good variety the first time around from the spicy hummus, pasta, salad, variety of chicken and rice, fried chicken, baked tilapia, and chicken kabobs, and fish. All were well seasoned and tasty. I was surprised. This was some of the most flavorful well seasoned Mediterranean food I've ever tasted. I was impressed with the fried chicken and baked tilapia. I also really enjoyed the spicy hummus. I'm not really big on sweets but my coworkers did give the sweets a thumbs up. I'd recommend this spot if someone is looking for an ethnic buffet and I know it was a ideal location for people celebrating Ramadan and breaking their fast. read more

My family and I had a late lunch and decided to try the buffet at Dimassi's Mediterranean Restaurant here in San Antonio. The moment we walked in, we appreciated the inviting ambiance and the well-organized layout. The food spread was noticeably more extensive than what we've seen at the Plano, Texas location, which was a pleasant surprise. Now for the details. The presentation was beautiful--vibrant colors and a wide variety of dishes that really caught our attention. There were several types of salads, along with dips, spreads, rice selections, and different meat options. However, since we arrived around 1:30 PM, it felt like some of the dishes had been sitting out a bit too long. A few items tasted slightly overcooked, and some lacked the bold, savory flavors we usually expect from Mediterranean cuisine. On the brighter side, the soups were very good, and the desserts were enjoyable. The tamarind drink was excellent--refreshing and full of flavor. The rose-flavored drink was also interesting, though my son found it a bit too perfumy (a matter of personal preference, of course). Their hot bread was wonderful, warm, and fluffy. As for specific dishes, the Mediterranean salad--similar to a Greek salad--didn't quite stand out, and the tabouleh wasn't as flavorful as versions we've had elsewhere. But the grilled vegetables were delicious, and the beef meatballs were a hit. My daughter enjoyed the fried chicken, though I personally found it a bit tough and not as fresh-tasting as I would have liked. On the service side, the cashier (possibly the owner) was very friendly and accommodating, which added a nice touch to our visit. Overall, on a scale of 1 to 5, I'd give this location a solid 3.9. There's definitely potential, and with a bit more attention to flavor and freshness later in the day, it could easily shine even brighter. read more

I love going to a buffet for the simple reason that it's ALL you can eat. I don't need to "agonize" over what to order. On the flip side, the fear of overeating sometimes makes me think twice. But dimassis's is one of those places I don't have to worry about consuming more than I should. They have a good variety of salads and veggies! I've been to this place many times with my friends and family. I always go for their salads. I'm not very picky about salads. So they all look to me. I love their parsley salad and green salad. There is also a good selection of hummus. I love beets. Their chunky, blood red beet is a must for me. To go with my veggies, I always get at least a bowl of their soup. Lentil soup is my favorite, which is very savory. Of course, I won't pass up their pita bread, fresh and fluffy. As to meat options, I like their grilled tilapia, gyros, and chicken kabobs. They are all very delicious! For beverages, I love their rose tea, which I rarely see at other Mediterranean restaurants. To conclude my meal, I get their signature and my favorite dessert, baklava. It's very nutty, but not too sweet. I usually get at least a couple to satisfy my sweet tooth! This place is quite big. I never have any trouble getting a table even for a large party. The service there is fine. Since it's buffet style, you basically serve yourself. So I have no complaints :) read more

4 stars, could be 5 but needs some improvement. The man at the front, super not friendly. I have gone here many times, never friendly, he doesn't even smile. They have gloves which is nice when handling all the food spoons. Great array of salads and cold sides. I do wish they had more of Greek style tzatziki. They have a cucumber yogurt dip but it's not the best when you are a tzatziki lover. The food is decently flavorful some things are better than others. I enjoy having options. I had salsa with sides and pita. After that chicken, two different styles. They are cooked well. I tried the fried chicken but not a fan. Then I had some lentil soup which is good and not salty. The rice and veggies are good, I wish they had some sautéed onions in with the veggies or on their own. I ended with a tasting of their desserts (forgot to take pic) which are good. Rice pudding was empty and it was 8:30 so I wish there would have been some. They even have ice cream but have to ask for that. It was a Saturday and the cost was $26 with tax. While visiting with relatives in McKinney, my brother-in-law suggested Dimassi's for an early dinner. The first thing I noticed upon entering, besides the friendly gentleman behind the register, was this was one of the cleanest places I have ever seen!!! Buffets can be scary sometimes, but when you see the beautiful array of salads, veggies and hot dishes... just amazing. Now I am no expert on Mediterranean cuisine, but every dish I tasted was excellent. Various hummus, salads, including Greek Salad, fresh warm pita bread, pizza, etc were delicious. My personal favorites were the Butter Chicken, and the Sumac Chicken. Not to mention all you care to eat, drink, ( go for the mint lemonade) and desserts for 18.99 op before 4:00 pm. I enjoy this buffet for the variety you can have in one meal, and the week night rate ($20.99) is not bad at all. My favorite part was the hot pita and the dips, especially the smoky baba ganouj. I also loved the mint lemonade. The other food didn't stand out a whole lot, but I also didn't have any complaints. Wow that's about all I can say, the food was absolutely delicious, from the Hummus to the lamb shank and even biryani just incredible the pita is stone hearth cooked and the lemonade with mint!!!!!!! I don't find many places like this at home so I can't wait to be back In the area to eat here again. I can't recommend this place enough!!!! It's a buffet so ambiance is so so and it's self service. Not the best Mediterranean food I've had but it's unlimited and if you're not craving anything particular it's the way to go. We went just as they opened for lunch. So all the food was fresh and everything was still very clean. For the price they charge, it is a very good deal for what you get. Everything was good in the hit food selection. Our favorite was the gyro meat and the kebab. I even like the cauliflower. And the pita bread was pretty good too. The also have a good spread for the salads , humus and other dipping sauces. We will definitely come back again. read more

Truly worth the 40 miles+ RT drive!!! We discovered this place through a recommendation and since then we've come almost every week and sometimes twice a week over the years. I think I've actually gained some buffet weight because it's too hard not to try everything and go back for more... and maybe just a bit more. :) It's a lovely place to try all the delicious Mediterranean dishes that you didn't know how to order elsewhere. It appears very authentic and their large groups of diverse guests seem to agree. Do come hungry because this buffet is super generous with all different kinds of meats, salads, soups, veggies, breads and desserts, including all the drinks and coffee as well. This is probably one of the best buffets we've ever been to with it being such high variety of quality dishes at such a great value for sure. They are constantly refreshing their food so everything stays hot and fresh, and the recipes are always consistent in taste and quality for every single visit. Sam is the manager of this location and is usually the first person who greets you with his warm welcome. You really see that he and his staff truly care about their food, their high standards and your positive experience. Sam is always so friendly, pleasant and eager to make sure that we and all the guests have everything they need especially during busy times so no one has to wait long for their favorite items. This is a great buffet for any specific type of food eater you or your groups are, as there are plenty of delicious vegan and vegetarian options to choose from equally here. Plus, they introduce new dishes and recipes periodically to keep the buffet menu fresh and exciting. You pay first and you serve yourself everything so don't expect typical waiter service, but for the exceptionally fair price and delectable offerings, they give you so much worth coming for again and again. You pay before you eat. The Menu board clearly stated M- F 11-4 18.99. Which is what i thought I paid for. Turns out I was charged for the Weekend Buffet for $23.99. Upon discussion with the man at the register, we pleaded our case for the 18.99 price as it was Friday at 11:30am. He would not move and basically ignored us. I love Dimassi's! I eat a carnivore diet, which is mostly meats. On occasion I will have a tiny amount of vegetables and a little taste of sauces. So it can be difficult going out for a meal when a restaurant charges you the full price for a whole meal and there is barely enough meat on the plate to satisfy a mouse. Here I can get a selection of meats, lamb, gyros, kabobs, etc and at least have enough to eat for what I pay for it. I love their lamb shanks so added that to my plate along with kofta, chicken, & gyros. I did have a little taste of a very yummy hummus with roasted onions and mushrooms and a dollop of baba gounush to dip my gyros meat in. The food is always good, but this location seemed to be a little tastier with more variety. I've had the pleasure of eating at three different Dimassi's, Richardson, Allen and now North Plano. I really like the atmosphere at the Plano location the ceilings are lower and the lighting more subtle, which gives it a more intimate dining experience. The other places are nice but feel more like you are in a college dining hall with bright lights. The people were so welcoming and helpful. I use a walker and buffets can be a little difficult to maneuver with a plate, silverware, etc. But the staff was very helpful, as well as the kind customers. I dropped my fork on the way to my table and a little boy was quick to pick it up. I was going to just wipe it off with my napkin, but the father of the little boy ran and got me a new one. I was so grateful for the help and kindness of everyone. My whole family enjoyed the experience much more than we did at the Allen location which is less than 2 miles from my home. Not that it is a bad place but the feel was just so much different and enjoyable. I look forward to visiting this Dimassi's more often in the future even though the location is 10 miles from my home. read more

I might have given this place 5 stars, but it's definitely not hygienic. The plates and bowls were not clean. They close at 9 PM and we went there around 8:30 PM, so they were about to shut down. The guy at the counter told us we only had half an hour and we said that was fine. They have a large buffet, and the food was excellent we really loved it. I personally love Mediterranean food it's one of my favorites. But I was shocked to see a guy taking food with his bare hands, without gloves, and eating dessert right in front of me while touching everything around. I was watching him and he clearly didn't care. That really put me off. I left my plate and told my friends I was too disappointed to continue. This place seriously needs to take better care of hygiene. I like the food here, but this experience was very disappointing this time!!!! read more

This place is such a sad disaster. Starting with the guy at the front who doesn't even look up from playing with his cell phone to enter your party into the cash register. Got here at 5pm on a weekend and there was no meat whatsoever available in the buffet. There was 10 different kinds of rice and a bunch of containers of dried out onions where all of the meats should be. I stood there for 15 minutes waiting for some meats to be brought out but the staff was either doing nothing or fulfilling to-go orders (with the meats that weren't put out to the buffet). I asked one of the employees to at least put out some gyros, which are premade and just need to be cut off of the thing, but the guy refused and went back to fulfilling takeout orders. A full 35 minutes later, after the two employees here thought good and hard about whether or not to bring any food out, they started bringing out the meats, very slowly, one at a time. By this point, my kids got tired of waiting and just ate the rice and french fries. So for $108 (two adults and two children under 12) we got to eat a few plates of mostly rice and onions. Since DiMassi's first opened its doors in Houston in 1992, I've had the pleasure of eating at every restaurant in their chain except the one in California. Many of them far predate my time on Yelp. With the exception of the first one in San Antonio, I have always enjoyed my meals there (the subsequent restaurant is fine). In my former review of this DiMassi's, I mentioned that it was the benchmark by which I judged the others. And this continues to be the case. In fact, our dinner tonight marks the 50th time we have visited DiMassi's Plano establishment. That, perhaps will tell you something! Peg and I have never--NEVER--had a bad meal there (or even a mediocre one)--all have been excellent! Hisham and his crew will satisfy the most ravenous appetite and if you leave there hungry, well, there's just something wrong with you! From salads through desserts, you're in for a treat. If you've never ventured into Middle Eastern cuisine, this is the place to go. And take some time to watch the chefs in the open grilling area; very interesting! Dimassi's is one of my favorite places to eat! It's full of healthy and delicious mediterranean food, with buffet extras like soft drinks, coffee, hot tea and ice cream. The food here is the BEST including the falafel, which is more tender than any other falafel. They have an array of meats like chicken, fish and lamb, sauces like hummus and tzatziki, delicious grilled veggies, fresh salads. It's both vegetarian friendly and low carb friendly. This location has better food than the other locations. The building is on the new side, and it's spacious and comfortable. We always have a good experience. Dimassi's is fast, healthy, and delicious. What more could you ask? read more
