This is a very good BYOB Greek restaurant! Started with a small Oder of the octopus and Greek salad. Both were absolutely delicious. Really enjoyed their octopus appetizer. For entries we tried the seafood platter with shrimp, calamari, and octopus with rice. All was good except the calamari, was not really impressed. The second entree was the lamb platter. The lamb was very good and grilled to order with two side orders. Overall had a great time and really enjoyed the food. The servers were very attentive and worked together as well. Saw that it was BYOB, and took to every freakin convenience store we could find attempting to find grapefruit juice because we wanted to make "grimosas," our new fav (champs & grapefruit juice)..get it?!.... like mimosa. Apparently, what we now call Hasbrouck Hates is not a fan of grapefruit juice. I think we finally scored some eventually, and went on over to Sofia's to snatch up the last table for 2. I loved Sofia's! We sat outside on a beautiful day. The coziness was great, and the crowd was all very friendly towards each other. Great sense of community here! We got Spanakopita, Grilled Octopus, Grilled Calamari, Hummus and pita. Everything was delicious. There were a couple little hiccups with service, but nothing that wasn't corrected. I tell ya - I find myself dreaming of the tilapia all the time! It's not what I expected to get there but it was truly phenomenal. Such heaven! And don't you dare leave without the baklava cheesecake! The service was also amazing - a lot of good suggestions and patient with our table. My only complaint was the grilled seafood platter. Delicious. You're paying for quality. My wife loved the lamb special. The chicken was juicy. It's too easy for Mediterranean restaurants to dry out the chicken. They got it just right. Had lunch here today 11/13. Was very nice and quaint. I had the lamb burger. It was fabulous. Lots of flavor. Great seasoned fires too. I think I tasted lemon on the fries. I've been going to Sofia's for the last 7 years just about 1-2 times a week. And I've had so many people go there, family and friends. I order the same dish all the time..but today really disappointed! Not only that they've raised their prices a few times, but today my friend and I ordered the 3 meat combo with salad as I ALWAYS do.. they changed us $3 extra each for salad that also already comes with it. So I have been coming here for a year now the food is fresh and great. The staff is super friendly especially Carlos. The best dishes are the fish and gyro dishes that they have as well as their spinach rice and Horiatiki salad is amazing. The ONLY reason for the negative review is for the owner's son who thinks he's the big shot. So after dropping my wife off first and her asking for a table. They said that she could not sit at a certain table because it was a table for 4. Mind you, we've been there numerous times without that nonsense. After I parked and picked up wine on the way over he tells my wife that no that's a table for 4, but at the SAME time you see all these non-Asian couples of 2 sitting at those tables. So at this moment I'm thinking is he being a racist here? I am so disappointed and I know its not the owner's or staff's fault but had I been there when he was speaking to my wife that attitude, as a business owner you should not be rude to your customers.
