Love this spot!!! We went during Miami Spice and enjoyed everything we got! The burrata came as almost a burrata toast - so so good. The fritto misto had a good portion and was so lightly but deliciously fried. The spicy rigatoni was delicious and big and by the time I got it, I honestly barely had room! And then the colazione Sofia was alright - honestly nothing out of this world and was just a few things combined on a plate but nothing seasoned particularly uniquely or with a fun sauce or anything. Could have done without this one! We got the eggs poached. The vibe overall is great. Outside is so cute and pretty. We went on a super hot day for brunch so we ended up sitting inside where it wasn't too cold. The one bummer was that they don't have any windows, so you lose the natural light, but the decor is super fun. They included the tip and did NOT mention it, which I think is unacceptable. I don't mind if they add it automatically, but especially when it's on a handheld datafone where you barely can see the screen, they should call it out. Overall loved it and would be back. Came here last night for ladies night and was very pleasantly surprised. For ladies night they have all their signature cocktails 50% off and access to the happy hour menu until later. The cocktails were great, but the food was even better my friends and I tried a number of different dishes, including the burrata, spaghetti me o do seppia (best flavor ever), and other tapas to share. The restaurant itself has a beautiful ambience with both indoor and outdoor seating in the nice Palm Court in the design district. You can tell a lot of hard work and details went into the decor, paintings and everything inside as well. The service at our table was great. The bar was a little overwhelmed, and unfortunately, a little bit slower than I would have liked, but the cocktails all came out great, and the service was provided with a smile. read more

Sofia has lots of great options and decent portions! We went as a large group. I got the cacio e pepe with truffles- very rich and delicious. We also shared the dessert sampler and it's great for a group! The espresso martini however was too strong for our tastes. The decor is bright and well thought out. The DJ was a great addition to the dining experience, we could still hear each other talk but also enjoy the music. The staff was kind and attentive. I'm a little disappointed that they don't do anything for birthdays even though they ask multiple times if there's a special occasion. This place is a joke located in the design district at 140 N. E. 39th St. Suite 133 Miami, FL 33137. I went to dinner tonight with some friends without a reservation, the service was OK nothing to write home about. When we asked for more bread to enjoy with our salad that I ordered he told me he would have to charge me five dollars for another basket of bread. The first basket only had two pieces of bread in it, and we had three people at our table. My bill for one person came to $91.23. He included his 20% tip. The Diet Coke was $6.50 one salad with three pieces of Romain lettuce on it was $23 and the cavatelli Bolognese was $35 for a small plate of pasta and then the bread was additionally five dollars. The food was OK for one person $91.23. Would I suggest anyone eat here now don't bother hopefully they'll be out of business as soon as possible the service after we paid our bill and for our tip our server took the bread that I paid five dollars for and didn't eat away from the table. I asked him to please bring it back. It took him 15 minutes to return to our table. So after you tip your server if you still need service, good luck. We sat in an open area outside. We weren't even in the restaurant. I think it's overpriced. I think the service is three star at the most and I think the portions are small. read more

As a big fan of Italian food, I was looking forward to try out Sofia! The location is inviting, right in the heart of the Design District. I love the setting outside but unfortunately way to hot to actually enjoy it. I went on a Saturday and didn't have a reservation but the hostess was nice and sat us right away which is RARE in Miami. Our server was also very attentive so overall service was a 10/10 for me. The decor is stunning, ambiance is fancy and every single detail is impeccable - from the pink sofas to the art pieces. Foodwise, it was disappointing. The portions are VERY little and overpriced. The $26 burrata (!!!!) is small and literally comes with 2 tiny slices of bread. I was in shock! My friend ordered the Bolognese and I had the Truffled pasta - everything was ok, but nothing out of this world to make worth the (high) price or make me wanna come back. Our server was very kind and attentive. At some point the manager even came to ask how the food was just to check on us which was very nice. The ambiance was my favorite part here, it's super cute and pink! We came in on a Friday night and it wasn't too busy. They had the Miami Spice menu special going on so we were able to get a 3-course meal for only $45! We started off eith some cocktails which were pretty and strong. Taking advantage of the last week of Miami Spice Month, decided to schedule a lunch meeting with a colleague. I specifically wanted to visit the Design District and of all the menus and offers, I selected Sofia. This restaurant is located where the previous restaurant Estefan Kitchen was located. The first impression is WOW! The decor and the details in this restaurant are spectacular. I love all the different shades of pink and the chandeliers are perfect. All decoration is modern, elegant and very Italian. The Miami Spice Menu has great options for appetizers, main dish and dessert. My friend and I ordered the Burrata and Carpaccio (for an additional fee). The carpaccio had figs in it. It was delicious. For main entree we ordered the Cacio e Pepe and the Rigatoni with Pink Sauce. The Cacio e Pepe was the best option and the second plate was a little spicy for my taste. Dessert options included the Tiramisu and Pistachio ice cream. My favorite one was the second one. It was creamy and just the perfect taste. I enjoyed the ambiance, our servers were very generous and attentive. Even the host was very nice to us and came to see us twice. Their bar is a great place for drinks. Either the one outside and inside. It was too hot of a day to be outside but in a cool and sunny day it will be a perfect brunch gathering with girlfriends. I also really appreciate the fact that you made a reservation for me despite the fact that I was out on a walk and didn't have a credit card on me at the time to reserve a table. Everything from our arrival, to drinks at the bar, and dinner service was top notch, and I truly felt the hospitality. I had a group of 10 ppl for dinner, it was a beautiful evening so we sat outside and had a FABULOUS time. Giuseppe F. was our server and he was absolutely amazing. I don't know how he managed to be conversational, but still quick as ever with our orders... but we appreciated you! The food was absolutely amazing too, we ordered pretty much everything on the menu, but these were my standouts- the Polpo (octopus), Caviar, Ora King Salmon, King Crab Agnolotti, Cavatelli Bolognese, Carpaccio, lots of cocktails (French 75 was my fave), and assorted desserts... I will be back for sure to try some other items that I only got a bite or two of :-) Also, a huge THANK YOU to the gracious and beautiful hostess and DJ- I didn't get their names, but they made our night magical as well. This is the perfect place for a girls dinner or date night as it is lively and decorated so fun with the pink and chandeliers. I was happily surprised by how good the food and service was as it seems like a typical bougie Miami restaurant that you go for the vibes and everything else is lacking. That is definitely not the case here. I came on Valentine's Day (for the pink decor of course) and had a fantastic meal. The beef tar tar was great, the bread grilled perfectly, the pomodoro pasta even though simple, had great flavor, and the octopus was fresh. The sauce under the octopus was like a red pepper spread which was a bit overpowering but good on its own. Our server was awesome- super personable, funny, and helpful. We asked for some help choosing a bottle of wine (the wine list is huge) and it didn't seem like they had a sommelier but our server was Italian and very knowledgeable and recommended a great bottle. My friend and I sat outside and ordered some drinks as well as the spicy rigatoni and the zuchini flowers. The rigatoni had a little bit of a sweeter taste rather than spicy. While waiting for my order, I had the chance to write up two other reviews and start this one. Compared to its other new neighbor in the Design District, I think Sofia still needs a little more work. I came solo to check them out , and let's say I'm glad that I had come from a wine tasting first. For one, there are no rum drinks in their cocktail menu though to their credit the bartender did mix a decent mojito for me. It could have used some sugar or a sugarcane stick but A for effort. They don't even have moscato. My appetizer was a nicely salty slice of prosciutto with fig bits and a sprinkling of parmesano which was tasty if not filling. Then I sat waiting for my main course, with time to do my writing - and get through a progress report of Sofia. Only after waiting awhile did my server mention they had kitchen issues as I wait for the vodka rigatoni. Once served, it did taste pretty good with mild heat. I even tried the pistachio zeppoli which was a saving Grace. To their credit, I think it may be their opening weekend But they certainly need to :do the work. With the automatic gratuity included, it certainly feels like an unfavorable P/E ratio. read more

We went on a Tuesday eve and our reservation was at 6:30. By the time we left , 2 hrs later, the restaurant was full. So, I suggest making reservation. There is plenty of parking at the underground parking garage. The elevator will open right at Sofia's front door. Mario, the manager, made sure we felt welcome. We decided on the Miami Spice menu and tried all items on it. By unanimous vote the best dish was the cacio e pepe al tartufo made with bucatini, tellicherry pepper, truffle pecorino and shaved black truffle on top. The pasta was cooked perfectly Al dente, it was hot and creamy. It tasted heavenly! Our least favorite was the campanelle con aragosta (supplement $10) made with maine lobster, tomato, lobster reduction, cilantro pangrattato. The tomato paste overpowered the entire dish, so much that we did not taste the lobster. The scallop accompanied with summer corn and baby squash, had a crunch crumbs on top. This a must have dish as well . My friends enjoyed the lamb and chicken. Other delicious dishes were the rigatoni alla vodka made with calabrian chili, tomato, cream, parmigiano reggiano and the ahi tuna. They were perfect ! Overall, everything was fantastic, including the service, Remy was professional and knowledgeable. He made sure we had everything we needed to have a very enjoyable and memorable eve, since we were celebrating my 5th year work anniversary. We were spending an afternoon in the Design District and decided to stop by Sofia's. The decor is stunning, all the Miami vibes you'd imagine. The Marilyn Monroe photos really tie it together. When we arrive around 12:30 on Sunday there was only one other table but by the time we left around 2:30, it was quite packed. Service was spotty but not terrible. 20% service charge is included in the bill. Started with a Carajillo ($19), a espresso-mixed cocktail, to start the day which was pretty solid. Mafaldine bolognese - pasta was cooked well and the sauce was hearty but again, something pretty standard with a high price point. Panettone - a taste french toast fish. The jam was a little bland. I liked the addition of the pistachio! Pizza Tartufo - dough was fluffy and great mushroom flavor. Enjoyed this! Fritto Misto - for $29, this was very average all around and overpriced for only 6 pieces. Cacio e pepe egg - our least favorite and not what we were expecting by the name. I don't see much cacio e pepe in the dish and it's a pretty standard eggs. Not a ton of sauce so I felt like something was missing to tie it all together. The bottom has brown was crunchy. This would be such a cute spot for any kind of outing - big or small. Very comfortable seating which I think is an underrated topic. Service was top tier and extremely attentive. I didn't have to ask for a single thing because they were constantly filling up our waters, removing dirty plates, and checking in on us. They had a fun and intricate selection of cocktails. Full bar, so from my perception you could probably order whatever your heart desires and the bartenders are capable of delivering. And in first place - the food The octopus was cooked so well the way it was crispy on the outside. I think this was my favorite octopus dish I've tried in Miami. It's a small portion, but so worth it for the flavor. We loved all of our pasta dishes. I'm pretty bias when it comes to spicy rigatoni IYKYN. I thought this one was just as good.
