Absolutely love this place! We showed up ten minutes before the kitchen was going to close but the manager not only accommodated a group of four but also checked up to ensure we were able to order everything and food was arrived in a timely manner or not! This is a decent little business which I hope is able to get off the ground. My brother and I visited this past Sunday. I think they have been open less than a week at this point. I ordered "The Herbalist" which was a gin/ herb cocktail. My brother, who is more a Miller Lite kind of guy ordered the "Raspberry Robbery" which was a fruitier vodka drink. It was worth the trip just to see him drink that pink girly drink, lol. Out of our two drinks, I think his was the better choice. The menu said it contained egg whites, which sounded gross, but turned out to be totally fine. We sat at the bar, given that there was pretty much no one else with us in the bar, and we had a great view of the distilling equipment. There was also a pretty neat area where it looked as if you could sit inside the former bank vault. My one criticism would be that some of the furniture looked a little lawn furniture / patio-esque and not all that comfortable. The waitstaff / bartenders were awesome and super excited to share info on drinks and their product. One bartender mentioned that brewing beer may also be in the future if the place takes off - very cool! read more

Love this place! Went here last night with my boyfriend for celebratory drinks and dinner. They have the traditional Moscow mule in copper mugs (which we love) plus a variety of others drinks and beer/wine. Very happy that they have a vegan black bean burger, even listed that "Just Mayo" vegan mayo was used on it. Love to see this for those of us with alternative diets! Thank you! We went here for drinks after a fashion event. It was perfect. We were seated quickly and the drinks were so good. All the spirits are distilled in house. The ambience is very nice. I can't wait to try the food next time I am out that way. The service was friendly without being invasive. Tried duck wings for the first time and it was decent. The mixed drinks were also great. But the biggest shout out is to their Denver steak meal. That thing was satisfying til the end but watch out for the spicy corn underneath the meat. Overall, this place is decent but don't take a date here if you're interested in conversations with them. We came in on a Saturday night because of how highly people spoke of this restaurant. I ordered an orange julep which was the worst drink I've had ever! The other person I was with ordered a special drink the bartender decided to make her. It was terrible, and even had the fat from the heavy cream sitting on top like some fatty veil, disgusting. Great idea, poor execution. Came for our anniversary, we were excited to try some place new to us. Seated promptly, we had reservations through open table but it wasn't necessary on a Sunday apparently. Ordered a flight for myself and my wife ordered one of the mixed drinks. Flight was out in a minute. About 10 on the mixed drink. That pretty much set the awkward pace for the remainder of the evening. Ordered an appetizer to start with, the charcuterie. Out in two minutes. Maybe that's great service, but I prefer to believe my $14 app is getting sliced and cut to order, not sitting in the fridge pre cut. An assumption on my part I admit, but it seemed to fit with the general motif. If you look at the website, you will find a brief quote that says something to the effect of, "are you a distillery, a restaurant, etc"? The answer from the establishment is, we are all of these. My answer is, you are a distillery with a terribly awkward table service. The food came way too fast, the drinks way too slow. The woman that played hostess duty while we were being seated was suddenly working behind the bar and running drinks upstairs while a couple that walked in waited 8 minutes for a seat, without even a hello. Two seats opened up at the bar and I imagine they figured that was their best choice, though not the one they came for. Pros: Good drinks, which should be expected given the asking price Atmosphere- old bank done up nicely Cons: Food service too fast, incredibly rushed Bar service far too slow- embrace your identity as a distillery first and man the bar appropriately. Food- I had the braised short rib and found it underwhelming (could be a me problem). Wife had the chicken which she said was ok, but the accoutrement that came with was far more tasty than the chicken itself Staff- no dress code to speak of, some uniformity would go a long way for the prices they ask. Friendliness, hit or miss. Owner or manager on duty, slow down and coach your people into good service, it can't all be on your shoulders. I'd go back for drinks, at the bar, which is where you get any semblance of appropriate service. Skip the meal. read more

Fun place to drink tasty cocktails and eat equally tasty upscale bar food. Their homespun, addictive drinks are made even better by their own gin and vodka. Wholeheartedly recommend the pretzel with cheese dip - honestly, the best I've had with it's crispy/doughy pretzel and chunks of smoked bacon in a rich cheddar cheese sauce. Ambiance is great, the distillery behind the bar changes colors and is mostly dark and trendy. The infused liquor flight for $10 was well worth it as you can try 4 different liquors without committing to a full shot for eachy. Mixes drinks are made with their own distilled liquor and well made. The burgers were ok, nothing to write home about but the housemade chips were great. We went to Social Still Saturday night for cocktails and dinner with two friends. My husband and I got there early so we sat at the bar for a couple pre dinner cocktails. The positives: The bartender was friendly. We couldn't have a conversation with him because they were busy but he was attentive. Bar patrons were friendly. We did have some nice conversations with the people sitting near us. Craft cocktails were good. The place was lively and the decor was clean and inviting. The hostess was very nice. Table service was fast. The negatives: Our server was not the friendliest. It seemed that she wanted us out. No bottled beer - there's only so many craft cocktails you can stomach in one sitting. The liquor should be the star of the bar. They really should push doing a tasting. While I felt the cocktails were good, they could've been using any old liquor. The bartender should've asked if we had been there before and offered the tasting since we hadn't. Our bartender, while good, did have to look up what was in one of the drinks he made for us. Ladies bathroom - only one. There was at least one person waiting all night. Overall I'd go back...not for dinner though. While the food was ok, it certainly wasn't dinner quality. Our table ordered every appetizer and every flatbread to split. It was fine but we definitely didn't feel satisfied when we left. We knew that going in so I didn't ding the rating for that. Went here tonight with my fiance for date night. We read good reviews but we're very disappointed. The drinks were OK but not very spectacular. Bookstore and plenty of other places have better drinks for that price. With real alcohol. The food was basically horrible. The crab Mac and cheese was OK. The tuna tartare is like three table spoons of tuna on a glass of seaweed salad. Ridiculous. The pork was boring something we could make at home and the short rib flatbread seemed like it was made using premade flatbread, caramelized onions were just regular onions and it was drizzled with BBQ sauce that was too strong and tasted like heinz. On top of that we were there for two hours. It took forever to get food and we had to ask for water, then ask for another because he only brought one for me and not my fiance even though I said "can wet please have done waters." Then had empty drinks way too often. Before our entrees came we considered telling them to cancel because we'd been there for 1 1/2 hours and just wanted to leave. Needless to say, timeframe of getting entrees to getting the f outta there was like 20 min. (Also... With this overcharging they could at least have fabric napkins... This isn't Fridays.) read more

We loved our experience last night! We stopped in to share some small plates before a concert at ArtsQuest. This place was unique because instead of bread, Social Still offers free popcorn on every table! The decor inside was awesome. We shared the calamari, tuna tartare tacos, and the flatbread du jour. Having a vegetarian wife, it was nice to see a restaurant where the prix fixe Valentine's Day menu had a vegetarian option for all 4 courses! All of the food and drinks were top notch. The filet was a perfect medium as ordered, the egg plant rollatini had a delicious light cheese sauce that was a nice departure from the typical heavier fare, and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. On a lovely weekend evening, after taking in a movie @ Steel Stacks, we decided to take a stroll to this ex-bank turned restaurant. After seating ourselves at the bar we waited for one of the two bartenders to take our order. It took a few minutes to get their attention as they were too involved in their showy mixology tricks to notice customers. Mixing drinks is one thing, but playing the maracas is another. It was very unnecessary and distracting. It wasn't like the joint was packed but there they were, constantly shaking up drinks above shoulder length. When we were finished we waited again for their notice to get our check. Not once in between did they even look at us. The LEAST engaging bartenders we've ever seen. It was a cold and unpleasant experience. Also the music and sound quality SUCKED. Too bad, because the appetizers were good and the atmosphere stunning, but we're not going back. read more

So the decor is great with the exposed brewery machines. The railing came off on the stairwell when we were there. Wed requested a specific type of table for reservations and it didn't get through but the wait staff was so fabulous about the whole thing. The portions are HUGE so I recommend the small plates because honestly that's the normal size of a dish especially if you do a starter. The cheese board was great but the red peppers obviously came out of a jar (or they were doused in oil) but everything else was great. The food was good and the drinks strong. We really wanted to try this establishment since from the exterior it looked very nice & something that we expected to have good drink & food. Horrible mojito with extremely tiny chopped leaves that we had to let settle to the bottom. It also had a lot of spoiled brown leaves. Food was tasteless. Spirits are average, think house well type stuff. Great menus the spirits just can't deliver. Food menu is also diverse with plenty of choices. The new menu is ambitious but the execution isn't there yet, calamari was excellent but the crab hush puppies were burnt and the fries were soggy... what gives? They're all fried? Good: Ordered a simple vodka tonic, which was excellent. Service was friendly. Meh: Ambiance/vibes inside felt a little stiff. Also, their hours are pretty sad for a place with such a heavy bar slant (8pm on weekdays, 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays). Currently at this establishment. Its a well lit room, well lit by like relaxing and welcoming. Sitting at the bar.. Bar is solid, clean, and up to date. They have a couple local craft beers on tap (4). Their drink menu is very well put together the drinks seem to all work. I had a old fashioned and it was perfect. Sweetness and the bitterness worked perfect. Didn't have any food but the complimentary pop corn was a good touch. Staff is friendly and attentive. Old school bank feel with a hip update. I have been to social still a few times just for cocktails, but every time I have been I see and smell the food and wanted to try it so bad. My friend and I stopped in around 630pm on a Saturday, unfortunately for us it was packed and we were on our way out because we didn't make a reservation. The kind hostess chased us down in the parking lot because they had a cancellation. We were seated on the upper seating area over looking the floor of the restaurant. We opted for wine from Franklin Hills. They have their own cocktails with spirits made in house, however I was driving and my friend had to work in the am so we stuck with the wine. We both ordered burgers. I had the Jammin' Pepper Burger that comes with fries and I requested something for a side to dip them in. They gave me chipotle Aioli and YUM. The burger was perfect and juicy, the fries just right. I inhaled my food and finished everything. Overall my tab with top was 32 dollars. My friend and I are both looking forward to going back and I will definitely go back to social still again. Another bonus was the owner walked around assisting his staff run food etc. Its important to see that presence and see them taking pride in their business. Note: the usual parking lot is under construction so you have to park on the other side but I love that it has actual parking vs some other spots. Would make a great date night spot! read more

On a Saturday night with an 8:30 reservation, our party of 10 women was seated in an upstairs alcove overlooking the bar which was perfect for a large and talkative group. The food was very good, though my duck breast was a bit on the tough side. Others thought the Mac n cheese was amazing and the different tacos and burgers also got high marks. We got there early and sat in the bar before being seated at our table. We all ordered drinks, the bartenders were great, personable, and put up some great concoctions off their special drinks menu. Very cool venue with great atmosphere. The wait staff for our table was young and probably not a lot of experience, but very pleasant and they did a great job with a large group. So why the 2? Our group was in town for a hockey tournament and Musikfest. We were also having a birthday celebration for one of our players. We ranged in age from 24-59. We were noisy but not raucous. We were finishing up our entrees and one of our party ordered a second drink; she'd had one at the bar and nothing during dinner. The manager came up and told us we were "cut off." He indicated the staff was concerned. He went on to say that he was responsible for our getting home safely (we were walking 3 blocks to our hotel, as we explained) and that we were too noisy. There was no one up in the alcove with us and we were above the bar. Needless to say, we found this quite insulting and condescending. If he was concerned about our noise level he could have taken one of us aside and asked us to be a little quieter and we would have gladly complied. We know we are talkative bunch. In the end the manager said the venue was a tasting room and didn't have a liquor license so we were limited to 2 drinks. This seemed highly implausible and, regardless, we were not told of this policy before we sat down. Some of us had had no alcohol, others had had two drinks and dinner. We paid quickly, did not leave a tip -- we are all generous tippers -- and encouraged the manager to make it up to his staff. So rather than remembering a great time with a desire to return next year, we left feeling insulted by a manager with poor customer service skills and a rude attitude. I know that is not the fault of the staff and they lost over $60 in tips, but there are very few ways to express how embarrassing and insulting his treatment was. I would not recommend this venue for large groups or anyone who plans to laugh and talk too much ( i.e. have a good time). read more
