The overall vibe of this place is super fun and relaxed. It's a working distillery, with a nice variety of spirits to try. They even offer a flight of spirits if you wish to try them. It's a 1/2 oz pour for each one. The bartenders are good at what they do when they make your cocktails, and the kitchen is really fast at getting the food sorted and out to the table. The place was completely full, and we had to wait very little time. The waiters are all very friendly and cheerful, and seem to enjoy their work. We had a blast here. read more

The establishment is fantastic and they found a way to make it cozy as big as it is. Our server was fantastic and knew the entire beer list and when asked what she recommended, she gave us a great idea on what to order drink and food wise. We sat upstairs above the front door and had a great view of the entire establishment. The bar tenders are surgical while making cocktails and talking to customers. We ordered the Brussel sprouts and truffle fries for appetizers and both were amazing. I ordered the mussels appetizer which was large enough to be a meal as my main. It was cooked perfectly and the wine butter sauce had a nice heat to it. My wife ordered a burger which was honestly too big to eat in one sitting. Cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. We were both a little under the weather so we didn't drink but the cocktail menu looks amazing and the table next to us raved about the drinks when I asked them. I can't wait to go back. Now I get the hype! First timer, but definitely not our last. The food is exceptional - the drinks perfection all with good service. We started with the Chorizo Clams which were amazing. I had the KingPin burger which sounds busy but it's a flavor melody in your mouth! I swapped the fries for a panzenella salad - let me just say, salad shouldn't taste that damn good! I was driving so I opted for the local brew cup of coffee with dinner and as a true coffee snob I will say it impressed as much as the salad - it's so good I drank it black and had a second cup! Five star French fries. Excellent burger. Service was SUPER friendly, which is the main reason for the high rating here, because no one wants bad service with the price of going out these days. Overall, the bill wasn't too expensive either. However, the ambience is majorly lacking for how cool the historical building looks from outside. That was a big let down after years of seeing this in passing. It feels too much like a 90s coffee shop from Friends / a poorly converted modern bank lobby with the lighting, and the floor layout lacks flow if you're sitting at the bar. It would be an improvement to see historic qualities restored to the interior, rather than bland sheet rocking, no crown molding, etc. Aside from this, we found the music to be a very distracting and random selection of early 2000s dance, pop, EDM, emo, and rock, mixed with the occasional alt rock hit that was (finally) tolerable enough to fade into the background. The room is vacuous because of the high ceilings and hard building materials, so turning the volume down a little and choosing something consistent in tone (perhaps neo soul or just sticking to alt rock) would be beneficial for the overall atmosphere. Bottom line: would return again for the food, but the atmosphere wasn't what we expected and could be improved for a cozier, vintage styled atmosphere (but that's mostly a matter of preference). Friendly service, affordable prices, and good eats go a long way. read more

Social Still is a distillery and kitchen in Southside Bethlehem. They are open Tue - Thu 12:00PM - 10:00PM, Fri - Sat 12:00PM - 11:00PM, and Sun 11:00AM - 4:00PM. This place makes excellent cocktails, but I came for the food. The menu is seasonal so there are always new items to try. I started with the Mussels & Frites. It's made with sausage, garlic, shallot, absinthe, herbs, and hand cut fries. The mussels were fresh and the broth had a great flavor. The fries were soggy, but for this dish I didn't mind. For my entree I ordered the Thursday Special; 1/2 rack of apricot bbq ribs with cucumber salad and potato salad. The sides were enjoyable but the ribs were awful. Perfectly cooked ribs need a gentle tug to remove the meat. These required a pry bar. I usually never complain, but when we did our server was more defensive than apologetic. Luckily, management made it right. Our meals were comped and we were given a gift card to come back. My wife and I have visited Social Still on multiple occasions and we always have positive experiences. We have come here for date night, with small groups, and with a big group. I have bought their bottles for Christmas gifts. They have a rotating menu that changes every few months. On this particular visit, we came for her birthday. We had a reservation since it was during the first day of Musikfest and there was a sold out concert across the street. The waitress was spot on with her recommendations from drinks to entrees. We had the chips and dip for an appetizer. I'm not one for appetizers usually but the sour cream and onion chips were house made and they're my favorite. My wife had the Big Bad Wolf (three types of pork) and I had the burger. We got dessert and coffee as well. She ordered the peach cobbler, which donated part of the price to one of the cook's ongoing cancer treatments, and I had the carrot cake. We took home leftovers and everything was fantastic as usual. Such a cute spot! This 100 year old bank converted into a restaurant is such a gem. The vault is still there! They distill their own liquors and partner with a local vineyard for all of their wines. I've now been 3xs and I learn something new each time. The happy hour prices are excellent with a nice selection of snacks and cocktails. I'm obsessed with several of their cocktails. As apps, we tried the edamame hummus, the zaatar roasted chick peas, and the truffle fries. The last time I was there, I ordered the shrimp and grits. It has great flavor but not my favorite. Too much sauce and the grit was too fine. Not enough texture for a savory in my opinion. Also, perhaps there needed to be something to sop up the sauce. Like a few pieces of sliced baguette. Went to a show at Wind Creek Casino and wanted to grab a bite before, so I searched the area for a nice spot. I think I found the BEST one! It's such a cool vibe, a neat building (old bank), great seating inside and out, upstairs and downstairs, bar... can't beat it. They have a little shop when you walk in where they sell mixers and spirits. I can't say enough about how good our experience was. Our server was excellent. She had great insight on the menu, great drink selections, food was hot, came out quick, and tasted amazing. The When I Dip, You Dip was phenomenal. I would order it every time. She suggested it to us, and we realized every other table had an order, usually a really good sign. I'm still thinking about it a week later, lol. The homemade chips, too (cue mouth watering). We ended up shifting from big entrees to small meals and more drinks... don't judge us, haha. Split shrimp Caesar salad, the grilled shrimp on the cold greens is one of my favorite contrasts. Shaved parm was a perfect addition to a good Caesar salad. We also split the chicken sandwich. It was so good! Comeback sauce and roasted tomatoes really made the sandwich for me... and the fries are awesome. All the drinks we had were phenomenal. Excellent spirits and menu. Wifey and I have stopped in here each time we've gone to the Christkindlmarkt, also in Bethlehem. Every time we've eaten here the food was absolutely delicious. This past year, we just stopped in for drinks and we were again impressed with their creations. I also got "taste-tested" into buying one of their bourbons. Our waitress suggested I try it so I went to the bar and asked the bartender who told me about it and when I tried it I immediately went and bought one. Within a five minute drive from The Wind Creek Casino in Bethlehem and directly across the street from the National Museum of Industrial History (which can be used for parking when visiting the Museum or Social Still Restaurant) lays an old bank building converted to a distillery which also serves fun vibes and quality food and drink. My girlfriend and I originally had planned to get the artisan looking gluten free crab cakes however after analyzing their menu we both agreed to split the massive Kingpin Burger. The Kingpin Burger (Two ¼ Lb Steak Burgers, Cooper Cheese, Crispy Shallots, Bacon Jam, Lemon Aioli, Arugula, Brioche Roll) comes with gluten free spectacular french fries ( think soft but perfectly fried boardwalk-ish).....and bacon jam....insert drool imagine here. If you dine on the first level you have nice ambiance of bar / distillery pub drinking vibe. The backdrop behind the bar showing the massive distillery where the alcohol is being made. You also can admire the beautifully lit up vault door with blue / purple lights that holds perhaps their stock pile of brewed spirits. They also have a merch shop where you can buy t-shirts, bottles of their Gin, Whisky, and other items if you want to take home some souenviers from your experience. We were in town for the Christkindlmarkt and made reservations for dinner. We met local friends at Social Still. One of them remembered going to the building as a child when her father would go to the bank. It's a beautiful building. They were very helpful with questions when I called a few days before. When our friends arrived we had an extra person and they were very accommodating to move us to a bigger table. Everyone loved their food--Harvest Salad, truffle fries, Social Stack hamburger and the Real Whiz ribeye sandwich. One person ordered the black bean burger and thought it would have been helpful if the menu mentioned that it was cooked in the fryer. One suggestion would be to invest in an electric tea kettle. It was cold outside and the restaurant was a little cold (hard to heat with the beautiful high ceiling). I really wanted a cup of tea or even I cup of hot water with lemon. I was told they had no way to heat a cup of water. She said they did not have a microwave. We will definitely stop again if we are ever in Bethlehem again. read more

I don't fully understand the overall theme of the food as the menu options were all over the place. Started with the mussels & frites. This was interesting in terms of the flavor. My boyfriend and I frequent Social Still because of its historic yet trendy ambiance, delicious sandwiches, freshly distilled drinks, and close proximity to the Steel Stacks. On Friday, we went before attending a concert at the Steel Stacks. I ordered the "Crushie", which was a frozen pina colada with housemade rum. It was the perfect drink to welcome the warm weather. My boyfriend ordered The Search for Figfoot which he loves because the sweet fig nicely compliments the maple bourbon. For entrees, we ordered the burger and chicken sandwich. The burger is huge and is served with housemade fries. As FYI- they only offer two preparations for the burger (pink and no pink). We opted for pink and it was perfectly executed. The chicken sandwich was equally as large and was also served with fries. It had an entire chicken thigh which was very juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The special, Comeback sauce added a little extra flavor. I can't quite determine what the sauce is, but it was tasty! We can't wait to come back for dinner before our next concert! read more

Attended Social Still with my parents and fiancée last Friday evening and couldn't be more excited to share our experience and recommend it to anybody who is interested in a wonderful evening out. Social still is located on Third Street in the thriving SoBO arts district. The restaurant itself is located in a former bank near the historic steel workers strike of 1910. Inside of the restaurant one will Be easily stricken as amazed by the ambiance as they can take in great views of the city, Bethlehem steel relics, a walkable bank vault, and an active distillery. Guests will be offered great food and drink options with local drafts and craft cocktails. As a patron, I would have possibly appreciated more food options from the menu, but it didn't lessen the experience. At the time of my visit, the short rib was completely sold out being a hot minute menu item, and certain menu additions could certainly benefit the central with a stronger arsenal of food options. Nonetheless, I am exceptionally grateful for the fun and splendid evening with my family while visited my hometown from out of state. The social still is a snapshot of the vibrancy and electricity in which the city of Bethlehem has continued to grow and thrive through the years.
