A hidden gem that shouldn't be a hidden gem?? My office is a block away and almost no one was aware of this place. We walk by it frequently, and from the outside it looks almost abandoned. A few people also recalled that it used to be a fancy sushi place, but none of them could recall when it reopened as a food court. Once you walk inside the place feels transformed. The inside is spacious, clean and well decorated. There are 3 different Asian food court place inside: Noodleosophy, Rice Monster, and Grapeholic (boba). Noodleosophy is a handmade noodle place that is guaranteed authentic. I was specifically looking for Xian noodles and this place hit the spot. I've tried the garlic noodles with pork and the meat sauce noodles- both delicious! I highly recommend the biang biang noodles. The food comes out QUICK. Rice Monster is a rice bowl place that gives you a heaping amount of fresh meat. The only thing is that it takes a bit longer to make than the rest of the food. The first time I ate in at social eatery I ordered noodles and my coworker got a pork rice bowl, and her food came out a solid 15-20 minutes after mine. We kept thinking they forgot about her food. Not as great if you're in a rush to get back to the office, but still a delicious meal. Grapeholic is a boba place with classic milk tea, fruity drinks, and some unique (avocado) drinks as well. The decor is nice, the bathrooms are gender neutral, clean, and modern, the service is friendly, and there are good seating options--including booths, tables, and stools--both inside and out. You can seat yourself and order using a QR code, or order takeout at the counter. Two of us came on Sunday, just after opening at 11, and had no wait for a table outside. Such a cute place to eat at, with a variety of choices in a food hall vibe. I love the concept of ordering from different "stalls", yet altogether through the QR code, which makes it convenient. The cumin lamb with biang biang noodle from Noodleosophy is on the salty side, but it has a great depth of flavor and it's the closest to Xi'an noodle in NY. The broccoli is quite unusual though. The lap mei pot rice from Rice Monster was average. The toppings were delicious, but the rice was mushy. The highlight was the drinks because Grapeholic is so good. My go-to is the Pure Grape which is a green tea slushy with salted cheese, boba, crystal boba and real grapes. The flavor is so refreshing and the salted cheese balances the sweetness and makes it creamy. A 15% service charge is included during the payment so don't worry about calculating tips. Great hidden gem! Located off the main road but can be easily missed, it's self seating with QR codes on every table for easy order and payment. Ambience was nice and had a cool theme to it. They have a load of items to choose from but I got the Bo Zai Fan Lap Mei 经典腊味 clay pot rice with an added Spiced Egg 卤蛋. On the side I got a popcorn chicken and a Coconut & Chicken soup which was surprising good refreshing. The bo zai fan clay pot rice was soo good! Was only missing some vegetables but the rice was as crispy as it can get without sticking to the pot. I spent about $36 total for everything. Overall would come back any day! Over all food is good not great. Beef noodle probably would be better with the ramen thin noodles vs flat. Mild spicy would enhance the flavor a bit. I work a block away from here and have come here maybe twice in the past for just boba. I finally went to eat with a co worker and we tried their soup. Beef soup and the chicken curry ramen. I will say, the chicken curry ramen was the best. The flavor was so tasty and rich and blends well with the ramen, the chicken katsu topper was crispy and just fits perfectly with the bowl. Social Eatery is a building that houses a few different eateries: Grapeholic, Rice Monster, and Noodleosophy. It was a little difficult to get to the storefront so follow your GPS. You can see the building off of El Camino, but there isn't a turnoff so you'll need to drive around the back way. It was SUPER busy at 1:45pm on a Sunday, and it was about a 20 minute wait for my order from Grapeholic. You can order ahead for any of the three places using a third party food delivery platform if you don't mind paying a surcharge. They don't take phone orders, and the other option is to place an order in person using their kiosk at the location. However, they only have ONE kiosk available, and I hope they look into adding additional kiosks and/or allowing direct online orders to be placed. Both the items I tried from Grapeholic and Rice Monster were great, and I would return to both! I've had Noodleosophy previously, and they have really good handmade noodles. It's easy to see why the Social Eatery building was so busy over the weekend. There was a lot of indoor seating available (not really socially distanced except for one table in the corner), and there was one table outside. All staff were wearing masks, despite the mandate being lifted, and they had hand sanitizer. They had their own parking lot but it was pretty packed when I got there. A fun little place I would return to, but not go out of my way for. Met some cousins here for dinner and we ordered a bunch of things across the three stalls. From Rice Monster: One cousin got the lap mei (preserved pork and Chinese sausage); another got the pork patty (Chinese steamed pork) with an added spiced egg and poached egg; I got the unagi and added a poached egg. We all enjoyed our bowls, but wished they came with some veggies to help balance all the rice and meat. All of the bowls also came with a little side of sweet soy, which went with their bowls but not so much with mine (which came topped with unagi sauce). We were, however, disappointed with the egg options. My cousin who got the pork patty wished they offered a salted egg (like the one that usually comes on Chinese steamed pork). His spiced egg (basically a tea egg) was overcooked (rubbery white with a yolk had that greenish tinge), and both of our "poached" eggs were actually over-medium eggs that weren't runny. From Noodleosophy: My cousin's wife got the cumin lamb and really liked it. Another cousin got the garlic noodles and said that while they were tasty, they got a little boring after a while. She said it seemed more like a side dish you'd share with others to supplement your main courses. From Grapeholic: Cousin's wife got a strawberry lemonade and enjoyed it. Cousins got something with watermelon (said it was just okay) and two cotton candy grape slushes (one cousin liked hers, the other thought it was kind of bland and didn't like the cheese foam). I tried the grape slush and agreed with the cousin who thought it didn't have much flavor. We were seated at one of the high tables. The stools were surprisingly comfy. They were padded and had backs, and the legs had bars that we short people could rest our feet on. We didn't love the online ordering/menus, but at least they no longer force a mandatory 15% gratuity upon you (which older reviews mention), considering there really isn't any service. Came by on a weekday for dinner. Husband and I have came here a few times now for grapeaholic, so decided to try the food. Sat down and ordered on the QR code. Ordered Bao zai fan - abalone (rice monster) Meat paste biang biang noodle (noodleosophy) Mango and pure grape drink (grapeoholic) I also ordered a side of ginseng pork soup add on but server came back and told us that it's not available and asked if I wanted the other soup but I declined and they took off the soup charge. The drinks came first tasted fresh like always. I get my pure grape at zero sugar but it tastes like 60% sugar to me it's naturally sweet. Then the meat paste noodles came tasted good. I wished that their utensils weren't exposed but at least the chopsticks are sealed. Finally the bao zai fan came on the menu it says it takes 15 mins to make. Bao zai fan tasted good, pretty even crispy rice everywhere. The abalone had a good Smokey flavor. Wish it had thicker pieces of meat, I thought the Chinese sausage was sliced too thin. I had such great experiences the prior three visits so I wanted to introduce them to the place since they lived nearby. Food was almost the same quality. Soup was not as hot as we would have liked it but the service dropped. They took a while to deliver our food and there was no attention given as to whether everything was going well. They forgot two items from our order and delivered one when we reminded them but totally forgot our dessert which came with the combo meal.
