Medium Uji Matcha To-Go
Wendi K.

The matcha drinks here are super decadent and sweet. My mom picked me up a Uji Matcha boba with 50% sweet - and wow was it delicious. It comes with boba in a sweet brown sugar syrup, whole milk, and then a scoop of matcha ice cream on top. The packaging is so cut! I can't speak for the interior or service since I didn't go in myself but from the photos the cafe looks adorable.

Ambiance is great, staff is friendly, but the quality of boba is abysmal. Ordered the brown sugar boba and the boba was super hard, not the chewy texture you would expect. One star for quality.

Coco mango

Tried the coco mango and thought it was just okay overall. The mango flavor was refreshing and fruity, and the coconut added a nice creamy touch, but the drink leaned a bit on the sweeter side for my taste. The texture and presentation were good, though I was hoping for a stronger fresh mango flavor instead of tasting more like syrup. Service was quick and the shop itself was clean and comfortable, which made the visit pleasant. I'd be open to trying other drinks on the menu next time, but this one didn't really stand out compared to other fruit teas in the area. Solid spot if you're nearby and craving something sweet.

Hands down the best place to go if you like mango sago, pomelo, coconut jelly and jasmine tea. They've got that flavor combo down to a science. Their Millbrae location is conveniently located in the heart of Millbrae downtown on Broadway. It's more of a order-and-go spot, since it's small. You can order ahead, at the counter or at the tablet kiosk if you want to take your time going through the menu. I always order their Coco Mango Jasmine Bloom: Freshly cut mango and pomelo mixed with coconut milk, coconut jelly and small sago pearls, upgrade to large, at 100% sweet. It always tastes fresh, and their jasmine tea is light, frangrant and shines through.

Updating my review due to my most recent experience... Ume had a BOGO Day for their Dessert Bowl for only one day. I heard that it was mayhem earlier in the day so I waited until after 8pm to place my order, hoping the craziness would die down. I was wrong. Fortunately I placed my order online prior to heading over, but when I arrived the line was going out the door with more people waiting inside. It seemed everyone ordered the Dessert Bowl aside from one person picking up a DoorDash delivery order. It was hard to see the decorations and displays on the wall because there were so many people inside. There were two workers at this time and both looked very overwhelmed. One was calling out orders and the other was making the orders. Even though several orders were ready for pick up on the counter, the one calling out the orders disappeared without acknowledging people in line; he later reappeared and started cutting food items in the back. This was frustrating because the staff was ignoring the customers in line and our orders were ready for pick up though we couldn't just grab the items ourselves, mind you all of the orders were the exact same since no customizations are allowed on this item. Then he finally returned to the counter and started handing out and bagging all of the orders. It took twenty minutes standing in line to get my order when it was already made and just needed to be bagged. Considering that this event was advertised the day before, management should've staffed up to meet the demand for the new item. If staffing up was not possible, the staff should've maximized on the prep work ahead of time to help streamline the production process much smoother. Lastly, the two staff working should've made it a point to acknowledge the customers in line and try their best to not let the line get as long as they did; since the orders were already ready, the staff should've distributed the orders to those in line and then move onto working on additional orders coming in. It was interesting to see the store packed inside and the next minute everyone was walking out with their orders. After all this, the Dessert Bowl was food and I liked the combination of sticky rice, mochi, taro, and mini taro balls in coconut milk, though after the hassle of getting my order I felt like I didn't enjoy it as much as I should have. Now I may start avoiding any future promo days unless Ume management can train its staff to manage the lines better and learn to acknowledge its customers to help enhance the overall customer experience.

Coco Mango Jasmine Bloom

One of the best mango sago drinks! Order at the counter, kiosk, or online through square. Super fun store, with cute decorations that is fitting with the store. Coco mango Jasmine Bloom ($6.25), add $1 for large. The drink is more of a slushy, but it's the coconut milk makes it super creamy. Love the mango bits, super fresh and sweet champagne mangos. A good amount of sago in each sip. I can also taste the jasmine tea flavor which compliments the drink. Oolong tea is also very good, fragrant tea flavors. The popcorn chicken is also delicious, large and not fatty chicken thighs. My favorite spice is the spicy and salt. My go to for boba and snacks!

Ordered takeout included Spicy takoyaki balls - not too spicy and a little crunchy on the outside but slightly mushy on the inside and plenty of bonita flakes Boba milk tea with 50% cane sugar - good but boba was a little hard Would order again

Popcorn Chicken (almost $24 for 2 medium drinks and one box of savory chicken)!

This place is ok. It's pretty expensive for a smaller drink (when compared to its north bay shops). And the shop is extremely small. There are a few tables, mostly standing. But for its small space there's plenty of Ume decor! The boba is kind of hard tho. So it's not what I am used to. I am spoiled by the Ume in Davis! But for a small space, it's not bad... tho I'll prolly wait till I get back to Davis for my Ume fix! I almost forgot! They have popcorn chicken here! Is it pricey? Maybe. But is it prolly the only place nearby that sells popcorn chicken AND mango boba? Prolly! Solid A-

My first bunny surprise cup plushie - my melody inside of a Coco Mango

I've been to the Millbrae Ume Tea a few times and had mixed experiences. The drinks are consistently good -- I've tried the Thai Tea Crème Brûlée, Mango Coco Smoothie, and most recently the Oolong Brown Sugar Boba. All were tasty and well made. I came specifically for the Bunny Surprise Cup, which is a drink size upgrade that comes with a plushie in the bottom compartment. For this drink size, you pay an extra $4.50. The Bunny Surprise Cup is a fun idea, but the results vary. On my first two visits, I got full-sized Sanrio plushies (Cinnamoroll and My Melody), which were super cute and made the extra cost feel totally worth it. But this most recent visit, I got a full-sized plush that honestly just wasn't very cute or well made -- definitely felt like a downgrade. What really brought the experience down this time was the wait time. I ordered just one drink and still waited 35 minutes. It only came out after I checked in with the staff. For a single boba drink, that's pretty excessive -- especially compared to my previous visits, which were a lot quicker. Still a good spot for drinks and the chance at a cute surprise, but very inconsistent.

Who doesnt love Boba!!! I got 2 of em's because I couldn't decide. Both were delicious, both came with fresh Boba. I wish they had a location in San Diego. Service: there is a self serve kiosk tablet that you can put in your order or you can go to the cashier. I opted for the self serve kiosk. Ambiance: cute little spot. Pink everywhere..great place for cute selfies or with friends. I would definitely come back for some more! #bobaforlife

This place easily deserves 4+ stars. It has a cute customer experience with consistent adorable little art and merchandise characters to look at and the drinks look exactly like what you ordered in the picture which is all too rare. The drinks are good (I order mine with half sugar) But I write this review because of what the place is lacking. A good customer drink unboxing is wasted if I'm unwilling to sit down and touch your sticky disguising tables or can hardly stand to look at the dusty unmopped floor. Putting all your money into cotton candy themed rabbit toys and cups is wrothless if I would rather wait outside in the sun to avoid smelling moldy baseboards. Clean the front of house at least, and a convincing enough smile when people walk in would go a long way and certainly earn you a 5 star rating. And continue to keep the anime girl posters off your windows.

If you want a fruity boba drink with REAL fruit - Ume Tea is the spot to be! One of my absolute favorites is their Lychee Watermelon drink -- it's refreshing, light, and hits the spot every single time. I always add crystal boba for that perfect chewy texture (highly recommend!). Another go-to is the Mango Coco, which is tropical perfection in a cup. Now, if anyone from Ume Tea happens to be reading this... I'm going to be a little selfish and say -- please bring back the Avocado Shake with mixed oats! It was one of my all-time favorite drinks (and toppings!), and honestly, I still miss it. Whether you're into classic milk teas or something fresh and fruity, Ume Tea always delivers -- great quality, great flavor, and super friendly staff. It's my little happy place in a cup every time. They also have so many cute brand items in their shop and I love all the pink and bunny vibes. I also love their rewards system, it's encouraging me to spend more on boba.

Love the decoration inside the store. It is very unique and cheerful. it is small shop with one touch screen for ordering or you can order via counter. you can also order online. They have loyalty program where you can can free drink and also get a point for dollar you spend. They have plenty of drink option from milk tea to fruit. The new addition is the crispy chicken and it was yummy. there are couple flavor to choose from. I like the spicy one. The chicken is breaded and fried nicely. It is different that other popcorn chicken which I tried from other store.

I like to stop here for a sweet treat after a meal in the area. The boba quality has a good chew and the milk teas/teas are really refreshing. I usually go for the lemon oolong or a milk tea. Price - $$$ - To be completely honest, it is overpriced here. It's roughly $7-9 a cup depending what you get. I definitely think this is more of a "treat yourself" moment as the other shops in the area don't compare as highly, in my opinion at least. I really enjoy tea so I think it's no different than treating myself to an einspanner from a novelty coffee shop every once in a while. Service - 3/5 - The bobaristas are quite quick and efficient. I usually order via the kiosk and they get the drinks out quite quickly. They seem to have a streamlined process. Ambiance - 4/5 - The boba shop is a bit small, but there are some seating. I appreciate the ability to order in person or via Kiosk. The decor is bright and pretty minimalistic. There's a upbeat atmosphere here. People also order in via app and pick up. Location - 3/5 - located in a bit of a busy area, there's plenty of parking lots and street parking. You can easily park in a lot and walk here. ____________________ **Note: Location rating does not affect yelp review, this is just for informative purposes of other patrons only.
