One of the best food we have during our travel in Alaska. They offer Authentic thai street food. We used to go to this type of restaurant in southern california. The boat noodle is really good to have especially during winter time. Also, we ordered the crispy pork with Chinese broccoli (you should ask the waiter-the special menu on the board). read more

Wowie! If you're craving Thai food, this is the place. I'm from LA and know the real deal. Okay. This isn't Bangkok or Hollywood, but the food is respectfully tasty and authentic. They have Chinese broccoli, which is quite impressive. We started with larb chicken and then had a curry chicken with a side of rice. The third dish was Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce over rice. The service is friendly and the TV has sort of a Food Network program running entertaining scenes from Thailand. If a Thai place has the condiment carousel on the table with different chili sauces, I'm willing to give it a try, and I'm glad I did this. read more

Very good and great service. Highly recommend, I will come back. It is a smaller establishment with parking in front. read more

Great find in AK. Authentic taste! Not Americanized. Ordered kway teow Pok pok, lad nar, Thai tea and bbq pork noodle. All are excellent.

You know it's good when, unsolicited, the man sitting at the next table says to you "it's worth the wait." I looked over and said, "oh, is that right." He nods and says, "yes, without a doubt this is the best place for green curry." Ok. I thought to myself. I was getting kinda antsy since it seemed to be taking some time for my order to be complete. But I was saying to myself, they are busy which is a good sign, and of course they are not a fast food restaurant! This place is in Spenard just a stone's throw away from Koots. The wait staff is very nice and helpful, especially if you are like me and not versed in Thai food. The place is small but cheery and clean. Food was being packed and sent out the door constantly. I decided to sample the mid-level curry dish with rice. And guess what, the guy was right! It was worth the wait. The curry smelled wonderful from the take out bag all the way home. I loved the rice---it was the perfect pearl rice and not the long dried out kind. And the curry was hot enough. I'll definitely be going back. Indeed, it's worth the wait. read more

We are in Anchorage to visit son and family from the DC area, where you can get excellent food if any kind. We were so happy to find high quality Thai food here in Anchorage. I had curry and my wife had a noodle soup. Both were great, and the mother/daughter preparing and serving the food were gracious and welcoming. read more

This was an exceptional experience. If you are after ambiance, you will be disappointed but if you are craving authentic Thai food this is your place. I was craving vegetables but didn't want to go full vegetarian with my curry. No problem! Our waitress recommended a dish and said she would add veggies. She guided our choices based on flavour over heat. Highly recommended. The green curry was amazing and don't forget to order the dessert roti. read more

So Thai? Should be called Soooooo Good! Awesome assortment of traditional Thai dishes including curries and soups. Try the northeastern sauce--amazing and sinus clearing! Great service and very friendly staff. The waitress told us everything we wanted to know about each dish. Visiting Anchorage first time and had to try some Thai food to see how authentic they are. I checked out Yelp reviews and saw this place has good reviews. We had four in our party. We ordered papaya salad, chicken lard, pad Thai, boat noodle, chicken curry noodle, and Thai Ice tea. The foods were really good; very close to be authentic. Everyone was happy with their food. read more

So good!! I've have the panang curry and kuay num kon, both two stars (spice level 1-3 stars) and both delicious. Also the ladies that work there are super nice and adorable!! Have already gone or ordered for pick up three times in the last three weeks. read more

I really wanted to love the food because the service was so wonderful and the girl was so friendly! However what I found was what I've found with a lot of Anchorage's Thai food... Not spicy enough! Also, surprisingly the portions were small for Thai food. Normally there's leftovers for days but I actually ate all of it and was still hungry. Overall wonderful service and staff but lacking in the parts that I love about Thai food read more

Very welcoming place, the tables are nicely spaced and the way the restaurant is decorated is pretty cute. The server was friendly and we were served quickly. The pad thai is amazing as well as the flatbread dessert. The menu is nice as it's not too long and quite straightforward. Prices are fair and food is good, would come again! read more

Excellent... absolutely the best Thai food in town. Very popular with the West High kids

I've been coming here for lunch twice a month since they opened. If there were not several very good Asian restaurants in the area I would probably be here more. If you are looking for atmosphere go some place else. The place is small and clean, table and chairs are basic. The servers are pleasant and helpful, though when very busy the service can be somewhat slow. That being said, if you want delicious Thai food this is the place to go. The menu is somewhat different than a "normal " Americanized Thai restaurant. This place reminds me of the small food courts and street vendors that I loved when vising Phukett and Krabi. They used to have a street hawker's menu that was a mix and match with soups/stews and noodle dishes. They have changed the menu, but the street hawker fare is still available and is fantastic. Definitely in my top 5 for Asian Cuisine and currently my favorite Thai restaurant in Anchorage. read more

We ordered dinner from So Thai tonight. Had to get the pad thai because, well, we are American and So Thai's is just FANTASTIC! But THE star of the show, hands down, drop the mic, was a dish from the specials section of the menu: fried garlic with chicken. Just WOW! Sorry I don't remember the Thai name of the dish. You can select your protein (beef, shrimp, . . .) and we picked chicken. The flavor is just delicious, fragrant, deep but light. I suppose you should be a garlic fan to order this dish; and if you don't like garlic, you must have been dropped on your head as a child (and if you're allergic, I feel really bad for you). All this to say, it's good to venture out and order a dish you've never tried before and when it turns out to be a new favorite, you are one or in this case two happy foodies. read more

Absolute Gem in anchorage. Amazing food. It is a family run restaurant. The only downside is that the service might be slow. Will definitely recommend read more

Just landed at the anchorage and went downtown for food but most of the restaurant were closed. We found So Thai. It is a local family-owned restaurant that serves great food. Their food was rich in flavor. The restaurant reminds me of a typical Asian-style decoration and setup. The service was absolutely great too because we were confused about what to order but the lady explained to us well and ended up eating tasty food. I personally like special chicken noodles soup. read more

My son wanted Thai food after an all day cross country meet so we decided to try this place. We ordered spring rolls for an appetizer, which was delicious with their homemade sauce; a refreshing Thai tea lemonade; I had the stir fry broccoli and pork belly which was also deliciously not too spicy the way I like it; and my son had the Panang chicken, which he thought was very good and was very impressed with how every spoonful or bite had chicken unlike other places where they only would have 5-6 pieces of chicken in the whole bowl. The service was wonderful and the place was nice and clean. We look forward to going back to try their other dishes! Thank you for a wonderful first experience! read more

straight up, this is probably the most authentic thai food in town. credentials: am thai, grew up eating all of this food. this stuff tastes just like my thai grandma (from isaan) used to make for me when i was a kid.i'm mostly writing this review because a lot of the other reviews annoyed me. this is actually my first review, because the other reviews annoyed me so much. forewarning: a lot of this review is gonna be me saying "this is authentic/tastes like my grandma used to make me" and the reason i'm gonna say that over and over is because it is literally a qualifier. do not come here and then complain that you didn't get americanized thai food. i see a lot of people complaining about stuff like "nOoDlEs WeRe So DrY," and that's annoying because real thai food isn't all sauced up like americanized stuff would be. that's why there's so much variation from your average junk thai restaurant to another junk average thai restaurant, because it's all a bunch of made up americanized BS. and yes, there are regional differences in thai food. isaan food is not the same as bangkok food (which is closer to american thai food, but still not the same at all traditionally). sure, a lot of actual food in bangkok has become americanized as well so there's that. but i digress. so here's my review of some of the contentious items on the menu: thai tea - sweet but not overly sweet. has actual tea flavor. not syrupy and gross like a lot of thai tea that is 75% condensed milk and a little bit of watery tea. pad thai - this is REAL pad thai. it's pretty dry, it's not saucy like americanized pad thai. it's got subtle but very balanced flavor with a little bit of heat. it's GOOD, and LEGIT. if you are coming here expecting super salty/sour saucy limey pad thai just don't order and it because you won't like it. fresh rolls - like seriously they are fresh rolls they are always good they are never going to blow your mind so just stop jesus drunken noodles - this is like the second most americanized thai dish behind pad thai. and the drunken noodles here are good they taste exactly how they should be. but again they are not ~very saucy~ so don't expect that other stuff: i've also had the kuay tiao num tok/num dang which tastes just like my grandma used to make for me. the pok pok is just like what i ate on the streets of thailand. the num kon (tom yum) is crazy good and also super authentic. the kai jaew is delicious. khao soi is delicious. etc etc. i'm not wholly biased just because the lady who owns it reminds me of my grandma and so does the food. sometimes the service is kinda slow, but there's only like two employees. the prices are a little bit high for how big of a portion you get. but this food requires a lot of work to make good, so it makes sense. don't come here if you want to order generic americanized thai items and complain they don't taste how YOU want them to, go back to your neighborhood thai restaurant for that. if you want to try actual authentic thai food, then do come here. read more
