The food here was good and it was clean Thai Food. I didn't feel full at all when I ate there. I could see myself coming again to this spot. Try one of their appetizers and a pad Thai it will have you leaving satisfied. Next time I will tyy their noodle soup. read more

so I finally got around to actually getting food here and wow! visually, the interior of the restaurant is simple, there's not much of the flashy stereotypical Thai things such as you see in Taste of Thai on Old Seward. the food makes up for it, and surpasses Taste of Thai by far. very authentic tasting! very good. if you see people of the ethnicity of the restaurant eating somewhere (which I did) it's probably good. read more

Nice and authentic Thai food in Anchorage. You will never be disappointed! Take kuay tiew mum dang!

So I've eaten at most of the Thai restaurants in town, and was married for 11 years to a guy from Thailand so I've had plenty of "authentic" Thai food and know how its supposed to taste. One of my favorite Thai meals has always been "Beef noodle soup with meatballs" (gwatio neau chin nam). I visited this place at the recommendation of my son today, and had the above mentioned soup. He had the same but his version had "pork blood" in it and I chose the plasma free version. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! The soup was very tasty, just like the stuff I make at home, but without the hassle. The broth was rich with flavor, and the meatballs were the kind I'm used too with no chunks of fat in them. I'm not a fan of things like tripe, or the like, so I just got beef in mine along with the meatballs. I got rice noodles in mine which is the traditional way this soup is made, and their version had some small green beens and scallions. One of the mandatory ingredients in this soup is toasted garlic. You almost never get this soup with the garlic actually toasted. It's time consuming to chop it all up and then fry it, so most places just throw in regular garlic. Fried/Toasted garlic is different though, it has a bit of a crunch for one thing, and like most things toasted a bit of a different flavor that greatly enhances the taste of this soup. In my opinion its one of the defining factors in authentic verses non authentic beef noodle soup, and one of those things that pretty much makes or breaks it in terms of deliciousness. Overall I would give my soup 5 stars...it was very good and tasted exactly how it is supposed to. My only complaint is that the portion size was very small. We were all starving when we stopped here, and we got like about half a bowl of soup, and even splitting spring rolls with my son I found myself still hungry when I left. I mean the soup is mostly broth and rice noodles which as you know aren't exactly heavy or filling. We also had an order of fried spring rolls. They were good...not the best I've had but good enough and we enjoyed them. My sons girlfriend got the Tom Yum soup. This is another soup that is really hard to find where it really tastes like its supposed too. Most times it ends up being sour and not that great. So Thai's though was pleasantly surprising and very good! Decor was very minimalist, just tables with cheap vinyl type table clothes and metal chairs. They played Thai music, and it was clean. I only saw two people working, the waitress who was very pleasant, and another women (the cook) who came out after our meals were prepared wearing a hairnet, and sat down at a back table to eat herself. At one point there was a strong aroma of fish sauce which my grand daughter did not find too pleasant but that eventually went away. Prices were about $11.00 for an order of soup but the amount you get is much less then you get at a normal Pho restaurant, spring rolls were about $8.00. All in all I would go here again, I want to try the Pad Thai and see if its as good as the soup was. Pad Thai is another dish that most places in town make too wet, or sticky, and don't season it properly. It should be more of a dry noodle type dish and the right texture and taste are paramount to getting it right. I'm interested in checking it out here. Overall with just the one visit I would definitely recommend them. Just don't go there if your really hungry, or unless you want to spend A LOT of money to get full! Because with the normal portions you will still be hungry. If I had one request it would be that So Thai, and many of the other Thai/Pho restaurants offer some type of kids meal. My granddaughter is 4 and she loves Thai food, but I'm not going to order her a giant bowl of soup to eat, and honestly if I had to share mine with her, we'd both be starving. A smaller version for a child would be very helpful. read more

So Thai is So Good! When I come to Anchorage, I typically avoid Thai as I've been so spoiled by the amazing Thai restaurants in Fbx, but now that I've found this unassuming gem (walking distance from REI), I'll be back next time through the Big City. Small menu, but big flavor. It's as good as it gets, and this is coming from a Fbx Thai food aficionado! read more

After reading all the reviews , we decided to go to so Thai. There was one server who took our order after 15 min . We only ordered Penang curry and chicken satay .. so pretty simple right . Well it took more than 45 min to bring the order and the Penang curry had only carrots and bokchoy that's it !! No broccoli, no mushroom.. no beans nothing ! We will suggest not going at all! read more

Fast deliver with GrubHub to the airport baggage claim while waiting for a flight. The best green curry chicken I've ever had!

Ordered on a whim a few weeks ago for lunch. Now will definitely be a first thought when lunch time comes! So good, with good quantity of food. read more

This place's food has tasted great both times I've ordered from here. And the people there are super nice. The only thing is that small mistakes tend to be made on orders. Such as ordering one dish mild and the other medium spice and definitely getting them mixed up. Definitely won't keep me from ordering again, but is slightly frustrating. read more

Definitely one of my favorite Thai restaurants (and just favorite restaurants in general.) Everything I have had has been so good. The pork jerky is addictive, the penang curry, and pok pok are some of my faves. I randomly got the Thai omelet and was amazed how good it was for something so simple. read more

My favorite restaurant in Anchorage. SO TASTY. And the people who own it and work there are so darn friendly. Could not recommend more.

The worst thai restaurant in town! Chicken wing uncooked still cold and bloody inside and fried wonton the meat is less than coin size and we ordered shrimp green curry we got chicken curry instead I don't know what's wrong with this place they been Changed the new management? Please don't waste money here! Try somewhere else! Ok The Drink we got Thai tea ice coffee is tasteless. Noodles was ok~ I never had bad experience in Thai restaurant before, I don't like to write bad reviews but This time I have too! read more

They are SO friendly there! The Khao Soi is amazing for winter (rich, creamy, and big ole tender chunks of chicken) but the specials are always really good too. I also really like the learn. Highly recommend!! read more

I loved the nam khon egg noodle soup (#4). So good! The phad thai and curries were also terrific. The price was reasonable for Anchorage.

Pretty authentic! I ordered lad nar which was really tasty. Service was good too. Would highly recommend!

This is one of the best Thai restaurants in the U.S. I've tried so far. And I am Thai! Their noodles made me feel like home, very authentic, spicy and has a lot of varieties to choose from. Service was also great. Nothing to complain about. read more

Their fresh rolls are like nothing I've found in Alaska! I love them so much. It's a little hole in the wall place, and parking can be a little stressful, but the food is so worth it. Good ingredients, fair price, and good portions! read more

So Thai - For anyone wanting to know about delivery prices. - Thai Near Me - Anchorage, Alaska

This restaurant is a game changer for anyone that's thai or has been to Thailand. So Thai brings authentic Thai noodles(kuey teow) to Anchorage, along with other delicious and hard to find lunch dishes. Don't expect to find the ubiquitous soupy curries and amateur pad thai here. These are "the real deal" offerings that you fly across the world for. I recommend the Nam Tok with rice noodles (sen lek),Manow with egg noodles (ba mee) and the som tam thai w/ sticky rice. If you're going to have som tam ask they have the sun dried grilled pork (moo dat diew) and you'll have advanced to the varsity team. The thai community eats here, monks from the local thai temple eat here. Those guys commit to only one meal a day! What does that tell you? Also, for god sake if the dish is a beef or pork dish by design, don't ask to substitute with chicken. You wouldn't walk up to a hot dog stand and ask them to substitute an all-beef frank for a banana would you? It just doesn't work. The place has great food and is family run. Everything you need to individualize/ "spice up" your dish (noodles) is provided at the table. Don't ask for soy sauce if the dish doesn't come with it, that's what fish sauce is for. You learned that bad habit while you were wading through years of watery curry and greasy noodles waiting for this restaurant to change your life. Thank you for reading this and go enjoy your self. read more

It is really nice that it isn't the same stuff that all of the generic thai places in town have. The Kuay Nom Kon is excellent so is the crying tiger beef and chicken wings tossed in the Jaew sauce. If you're looking for a change of pace check it out. read more

Hey I really like this place. I'd lost the will to eat pad Thai anymore after too many goopy gross versions but the pad Thai here is light and delicious. The people that work here are really nice and friendly and they've got some interesting pink milk tea and dish options that I haven't seen many other places. I did order the curry with roti and even though I really liked the roti the curry was too salty. Some places are curry places and some places are noodle places, so that's ok. And who knows, it could have been an off day. Definitely going to try some other dishes when I can bring myself to stop ordering the pad Thai. read more

Many people may not understand the scenery this restaurant is trying to put out but it's suppose to portray the street foodd/ night life feel in Thailand. Hence their name "so thai" - the food tasted almost authentic, only wish portion was bigger and pricing was a little cheaper. They have a fried Thai omelet that comes with rice - there's nothing special about it but it's 10-11$ ? It's a really neat restaurant though. I would go back. read more

So good. My friend and i needed something good for a special night. I got the panang Curry and he got the green curry. Both were so freaking good. Highly recommend this place. The ladies that run it are awesome read more

First time at this new Thai restaurant in midtown and the food was great! The restaurant is definitely on the newer and mom and pop side of things but it adds to the charm. A friend and I went in during our lunch hour and although it may have taken a little while to get our orders going (it seems to be family run and limited staff since they're so new) the service was great. My friend's meal was a little on the salty side and they were quick to correct it and offer to fix her a new plate immediately. Great family run restaurant. They're still working out the kinks so be patient. Will go back! read more

This place is definitely worth coming to! It's been a bit tough to find quality food at a reasonable price in anchorage. The staff could be family and they are very warm and accommodating and the atmosphere is lovely. This place feels like it could be in a bigger city, which seems pretty rare for Alaska. Would come back again thanks So Thai! read more

Gem in the heart of Spenard! The owner and management are very informative and friendly. The Pad Thai was excellent. The wife and I will surely be back. read more

So Thai - Thai Near Me - Anchorage, Alaska

I've visited a number of times and always leave with the same impression - this is the best Thai food in Anchorage. There's a new menu and they concentrate on a handful of dishes instead of trying to offer everything that relates to Thai food. The owners are actually Thai, which is actually a bit rare as many of the other Thai restaurants are run by people from neighboring countries. The authenticity comes through and reminds me more of true Thai food that you find in Thailand. On this visit I tried their version of Tom yum soup, and it was incredible. It's hard to believe this place doesn't have a line out the door at all times, as it is far superior to other much busier places that serve Thai in midtown. read more

I stopped in here the other night and I have to say the food is excellent. The dishes are very simple with just a few ingredients but very well done. I had the Kao Mun Gai which is just chicken over steamed rice and a side sauce. What really made this dish stand out was the ginger sauce on the side to dip the chicken in. My date was still going on about it at the end of the night. The steamed rice also had a nice roasted garlic taste to it which really made for a nice surprise. The restaurant itself is kind of small, I think there's only 10 tables or so but the service was nice. They didn't check on us too much but I think they could tell we were on a date and didn't want to intrude too much (which I'm grateful for). I hope this place sticks around, historically this location hasn't done very well for restaurants because there isn't very much foot traffic. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

Completely let down by the Massaman Curry. It came in a bowl with 2 massive chicken chunks. Let me again emphasize the size of the chunks with no potatoes or anything else. Massaman is my favorite Thai dish so I get this virtually everywhere I go and this could have been the worst. Ive never written a yelp review before if that helps explain how disappointed I was. read more

Good food but the wait was almost an hour and the restaurant wasn't even that busy. The server also got my order wrong I ordered fresh spring rolls and I was given egg rolls. My friend was suprised because she heard me say spring rolls and she wanted the spring rolls also. I didn't complain and just ate egg rolls because our food was taking too long. Pad thai was such a small serving and a little expensive compared to other thai restaurants I've been to. read more
