I received the osmanthus rice wine and lychee box, matcha chestnut box, and one each of the chocolate and matcha crispy cream puffs. This bakery is small but neatly displays their products (photo attached). The flavour combinations were unexpected and tasted good. I appreciate that nothing was too sweet and my personal favourite was the matcha box! My friends tried the samples with me but thought that none of the items were outstanding.

Assorted sweets.

Got a chance to taste some of the sweet that they provided at an event. It was really cup and I love that it's in a cup, so mess free! The cream was so silky and the sweetness was a good balance. The owner was really friendly with directing which flavour is what. Really helpful! Everything looks super cute and tasty.

I live in Markham so the location was convenient for me. It is located towards the back but it was easy to find. I walked in, and now I don't expect red carpet treatment but he seems surprised I was there and didn't greet me at all. I kind of felt unwelcome to be honest, but I brushed it off. Maybe it was just a long day. I checked in and then he immediately just gave me two cakes boxes. I asked about the flavours but he stated they are only offering the tiramisu and matcha flavour because the other stock is for another store. I was also given the chocolate and matcha cream puffs. I did purchase the Oreo cake box as well because I really wanted that flavour. What I found strange is that I was able to buy this flavour but previously he stated they only had the tiramisu and matcha available at that time. It was just very odd experience and well why should I receive something I don't even like? Why can't I choose my flavours? The Oreo cake box and Tiramisu were both delicious, not overly sweet but tasty. It's the perfect portion of yumminess! The cream puff was nice as well great flavour to the cream puff itself and the filling was nice, not too sweet. It was nice to visit, and explore a place that I never knew existed.

This bakery really surprised me in a good way. First of all, the inside of store is very bright and…read moreclean! Staff were very friendly and keep giving out samples :) Plus, the portion and flavour were very satisfying especially considering the price (very affordable!) Wish I could visit here more often if it were close to me. My favourite of the day was chicken sandwich and napoleon cake, which was pretty big and not so sweet :)

TLDR: Good, a bit pricey, would go again for the classic pineapple bun…read more TIP: I believe they're debit or cash only. Debit is also only for $25+ purchases. Xuan Bakery has been on my list since they've opened and I finally had the chance to take a peek inside! It's your classic Chinese bakery, so nothing special there - you just take the tray and tongs at the far end and make your way to the register. The spacing can be done a little better - you can't really have more than 2-3 people looking and getting buns at the same time. SELECTION: There wasn't a lot of variety, but with the selection they do have, it was pretty unique. They have two different types of Pineapple Buns (bo lo bao): the classic and a Taiwanese version (which looks like Japanese melon buns). They also have several different sausage buns, including one with cheese and another with pork floss. These also look a bit different, it's not encased in the bun, but it's more of a hotdog kind of look. They also offer cakes and free samples of their cakes, which look and taste like your typical Chinese bakery cakes (not my preferred taste). They seem to really want to upsell their cakes (the lady kinda tried pressuring me to try and buy). PRICE: The prices were on the higher end. You're looking at about $4-6 per bun. They also have a 'lucky draw' going on right now if your subtotal is more than $25, but my draw required a minimum purchase of $35 lol (for a free slice of cake). FAV: The classic pineapple bun. The top was SO crispy yet the bottom was SO soft. I would go back just for this by itself. There was a lady ahead of me who ONLY bought the pineapple buns. She knows what's up.

3.5* rounded up due to friendly cashier and ravishing looking cake decor!…read more The ordering process was pretty seamless- they respond better when speaking in Cantonese! Tip- double check price . I was quoted differently than what was on website. She corrected herself when I clarified the price ! Pros- the cake was so dainty and cute ! I loved the box and how it was wrapped with a ribbon ! I also loved how they added hearts on the nameplate without me having to ask . This personal touch leaves me with an impression the cake decor loves doing their job ! Lastly, I love the complimentary candle.. it was gold and a wonderful final touch ! The cream was really fresh as was most of the fruits ( except mango- it looked like it was on the verge of going bad ). Cons- the cake didn't hold intact once cut:( the center basically collapsed maybe because fruit/ batter/ cream ratio wasn't balanced . It honestly looked like a pile of smashed up cake and very much opposite of aesthetically pleasing. I've never had this happen to us in the past and we are a family that loves a good old Chinese fruit cake lol . Also as shared above.. the mango in the cake wasborderline too ripe the first day. By the second day , it was not editable. Price -$36. Pretty reasonable I don't know if I would return . It was a relatively positive experience but I don't think the bakers have enough skill to warrant another visit . I did love the look and packaging so who knows ..

Update: after getting the creamy corn & crab stick bun and the strawberry snow Mochi, I'm…read morere-grading The Dough to a 5-star. These two are some of the best desserts/breads I've had. Great service and clean environment, as usual.

Sorry for the bad photo but I just had the best chocolate cake at a birthday party the other week…read more My husband doesn't even like chocolate cakes and he was raving about it. It's super moist not overly decadent and just the right amount of sweetness. So I'm here documenting to remind myself to order a cake for next time. It seems that they are well known for their ube cakes so I think I'll have to try that next!

I was recommended by a family as they had Sheryl make their wedding cake. I read that her specialty…read moreis the Ube flavoured cake, so when we decided to order our wedding cake, we knew we had to get Ube. Sheryl might not respond to her emails ASAP as she has another job as well, but will eventually respond within a few business days. If it's urgent, and you need a quick response, you can always call or text her for inquiries. Ordering our wedding cake was very easy, we told Sheryl the details such as how many tiers, serving size, and design inspiration. She also delivers for an additional fee depending where in the GTA. On the day of our wedding, we expected to see her around 4pm, but she actually came earlier to help set up, and make the cake area look nice. When I saw the cake in person, it was made almost exactly to what I asked for, and yes, it was beautiful. The buttercream used lasted for hours as the cake wasn't served until at least 5 hours after being placed on the table. When I tried a slice, the Ube flavour was evident, not too sweet, and the cake itself was very soft. I highly recommend booking your wedding cake, or any cake from Sheryl if you want Ube!
