Got to try Deer Cake as a friend of mine got two cakes for a birthday celebration. We had their tiramisu and the soy milk mochi. They were both delicious, but the soy milk mochi was my favourite! It was a unique flavour, not too sweet - perfect for people that prefer milder desserts. The tiramisu was great as well. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a sweet treat!

This is a 3.5 star rating. Pretty little cake shop in Langham Square. The store is fairly small, but nice and clean inside. They had a number of cakes on display though I had pre-ordered mine ahead of time. The ladies working the cash were friendly and efficient. I got the raspberry chocolate cake. It tasted fine, though there was really no raspberry flavour that came through. The cake was light and fluffy and not too sweet. I wouldn't mind ordering from here again to try out some of their other flavours of cakes. Prices are a bit on the higher side.

I was looking for a simple cake for my dad's birthday, and Deer Cake checked all the boxes. We ordered the 6-inch Mango Cream cake online a few days in advance. Pick-up was quick and easy, and they didn't mind that we were ~30 minutes behind. The cake was not too sweet (the best compliment for Asian desserts). The mangoes were just slightly sour, which actually helped cut through the creaminess of the rest of the cake. Though on the smaller side, it was the perfect size for our party of 8 - everyone thoroughly enjoyed their slice. It was also a little pricey, but I felt the quality justified the cost. As a bonus, I appreciated the Van Gogh-inspired packaging, and it came with a complimentary sparkler. I'd order from here again for special occasions.

I was treated to two cakes from Deer Cake for my birthday so I cannot really attest to the ambiance and service but definitely can speak to the quality of their desserts. The first cake I was gifted was quite a unique flavor - SOY MILK MOCHI BOX. The bottom are layers of chiffon cake, alternated with soy milk cream. I felt like the cake itself could be more airy, but it doesn't dry a lot, especially thanks to the abundance of cream that accompanied it. Naturally, my favorite part of this dessert is the mochi top! The mochi was very chewy and it was so good that I wished they put more (I.e. whole pieces of mochi, rather than halves). Overall, tasty and not too sweet! The second cake I got to try was their MANGO BENTO. The base is made up of soft and moist chiffon cake, which is much more airy compared to their Soy Milk Mochi Box. Sandwiched in-between the cakes are whipped cream which they advertise as being low sugar and I can believe this because it's minimally sweet. There's an abundance of mango chunks all over, which was very refreshing and sweet; then a sprinkle of blueberries as well. Overall, a very light feeling treat. These little lunchbox-style cakes were very cute and aesthetic, perfect for a special occasion and guaranteed to make someone's day! By the looks of their website, they have a variety of other cakes that you can pre-order as well - the designs are stunning.

Love the cake there especially the box cake. Fav is the coconut latte one! All the cakes are good actually. Typical Asian cakes not too sweet.

the store has a variety of cake in box to choose from. the ovaltine cake in a box is just the right amount of sugar and chocolate. The store staff is not that friendly i don't know why... could it be because i bought just one box cake rather than picking up a more expensive cake order?

Overpriced for a mediocre cake. Located in Langham place in Markham, Deer Cake is easy to find by the main parking lot in the plaza. Had always been interested to try seeing the cute designs at the store. Picked up a small cake for over $20 and we were all pretty disappointed by it. Perhaps the fancy pre-ordered cakes taste better (or you're just paying for the cute looks) but I definitely won't be visiting again anytime soon.

Mooncake packaging! So cute
Amabel S.

The packaging of the mooncake is so adorable, but it is pricey if you look at the size of the mooncake. I believe $68 for the whole box. You will got 2 originals, 2 matcha, 2 chocolate flavours. Its not too sweet and light. I got it as a giveaway prize.

Love the cakes from here, they are made really well. You can always order customized cakes where they are really fancy and still taste really good. Love the actual cake in all the different styles they have in stock. The cake itself is fluffy and airy just like how I remember how my childhood cake taste like. The customer service could use some polishing but it's still fairly good. I've been craving cakes lately and for every piece of cake I've eaten within the last two weeks (one cake every 2-3 days) it's been from Deer Cake

Deer cake is one of my go to for birthday cakes for my girlies. They're super cute a customizable. They don't only look good they taste phenomenal! I've had the matcha, earl grey, and cookies and cream so far . Not too sweet and the cake is light and flufffy! There's flavor choices and you can even order online. I had a little bit of change needed to be done on the cake and they accommodated and were very patient. I've had cakes that look good where they just slap fondue on it but Deer cake uses cream instead for the design. It's may be a little on the pricey side for some people but if you want a cake that's s cute and taste amazing as well, deer cake is definitely the place for you!! Worth every penny :)! Will always come back for cakes

Always passed by this place while coming to plaza for TNT runs and finally tried this weekend. It was my first time trying the asian box cake concept. I was shocked at the price of one box as normally a slice of cake would be way less. They are priced at $18 each or 3 for $50. My sister decided to splurge and try 3 flavours. We tries the salted egg, soybean and strawberry cakes. Out of the 3, I enjoyed soybean one the most, I like injeolmi flavour coupled with a layer of mochi inside. The strawberry was nice but I felt that it was very typical lime strawberry shortcake with the strawberries being a bit sour. Salted egg wasn't for me but it was unique. Overall, cake was nice to look at but tasted just okay. Price is also quite exensive in my opinion so don't know If I would come back again.

I actually had…read morevery low expectations to be honest, but ultimately I am already talking with my other half about when we can come back and try more of their offerings as we just really liked their cakes. So bit of background, its my other halfs birthday and she had a craving for a mielle cake. I jumped on google, searched around and found Sweet Planet. Reviews seemed mixed, but I never let that deter me from giving a place a chance. Their website is clean and simple, with an online ordering system. To be honest I found their website to be a bit sketchy and I wasnt sure if it was legit! So I called the place and spoke to someone to confirm that they would be able to make the cake in the time frame I needed. When I called the person just said hello, answered my question very briefly and we hung up. It was a very "matter of fact" conversation, no pleasantries or friendliness. About as neutral as you can get. Getting here, we had to drive around the entire building as there is actually two cake places both starting with SWEET. I think the first one I saw was sweet CHASE, but I was looking for sweet PLANET. Store front had some colorful window coverings and a simple "open" sign. Opening the door you immediately are facing a register and a big white wall behind. I heard someone yell out "HELLO" from the back and we started our conversation from there with an order number. I was in and out in 2 minutes, again no pleasantries - Just fast and efficient. Now the cake - Delicious is probably the most appropriate word. The cake came in a plain white box, and wasnt exactly instagram worthy in appearance but it was acceptable. So all this combined, my expectations were low but I am always hopeful to discover hidden gems. This was a hidden gem. We got a strawberry mielle crepe cake - The strawberries tasted nice and fresh au naturel. There was no weird sugary glazing on top, just plain old sweet strawberries. Through out the cake there was also diced strawberries. The crepe was super melt in your mouth thin. The star of the show was all that fresh hand whipped cream goodness! You could definitely tell the cream was freshly hand whipped, light, fluffy and not overly sugary with a very clean tasty finish. I have had other cakes where it leaves a bit of a after taste where you need to wash it down with some water or something, but this was just plain tasty. If I had a friend that was a pastry chef and I asked for a mielle cake - This is what I would picture getting. Well done and tasty with no frills. Bottom line, we will be back and I have no problems recommending this place. It definitely gets the job done :)

Their designs are abundant on the website and they really get the design to a tee, it was PERFECT. Flavour selection is pretty good and I did have a short call with them while ordering on their site to determine which flavour was recommended as well as what colours I wanted the cake design to emphasize. I had to check Google reviews to confirm instructions on their location, but when I got to the Langham Square plaza it was easy enough to find based on their address (unit number 2006). Staff gave clear instructions at pick up to keep the cake in the floor of the car during transport and to store the cake in a fridge until ready to eat. The box for transport was great because I got to check the design easily before leaving and the ribbon was tightly wrapped to secure the box cover to the base. The staff speak Mandarin as well as English. Payment was all done online beforehand. Highly recommend ordering their cakes for any event!

I got the Hunter (4/5), Dear Hermes (4/5) and Strawberry Hojicha (4/5) desserts. Hunter cake, inspired by K-Pop Demon Hunter, had a blend of creaminess and earthiness from the ube and earl grey. There was also a hint of fruitiness from the blueberry. Dear Hermes cake had distinct flavours of lychee and raspberry tied together on a vanilla cake. The mousse and cream was light and airy. The sweetness was delicate and not too overpowering. Strawberry Hojicha cake had a mild sweetness and slight tanginess from the strawberry. The earthiness and roasted flavour profile of the hojicha tie in really well with the fruitiness of the strawberry. This one was our favourite. I would like to come back and try their matcha as well based on the good reviews I've read.

I have eyed this place for years and finally dropped by. It's across from The Origin where the Cineplex VIP theatre is. I parked in the lot on the northwest corner of Andre de Grasse Street and Enterprise Boulevard, next to Grande Burrito that used to be Copper Branch. Parking is free. It's steps away from Patisserie Fleur. It's such a charming bakery. I saw croissants in the display case to my left that I wanted to devour. The seating area was cozy and clean design-wise. There were two women behind the counter. They said hi. They were kind to let me take a look at everything in the display cases before I made any decisions. This store had Korean macarons. Perfect! I got a mixed box. The desserts look beautiful and yummy. I also got heart peach oolong tofu cheesecake. I paid with a credit card. Prices are on the higher side. My heart cheesecake was $8.50 and my box of five Korean macarons were $19.50. I will say that the packaging is awesome. I have a feeling that the price takes into account the premium boxes that my items were safely in. They were classy and nice. I thanked the woman who helped me with my order. I grabbed my goodies and walked back to my car. I then headed home. I had the heart peach oolong tofu cheesecake. It was so good. It was slightly sweet, which I appreciated. The peach flavour was perfect. The cheesecake was smooth. You can't tell that it's tofu. I brought in the macarons for my friend and me to enjoy at work. The mix box had these flavours: - Strawberry - Mango - Pistachio - Earl grey - Matcha I remembered to bring a knife into work. No, I'm not a violent person seeking revenge on an evil colleague. It was to split each macaron, so we could taste each one. We went with the earl grey first. The tea flavour was subtle. It had more of a lemon flavour. The flavour strengths should have been reversed. We loved the strawberry. It tasted like a strawberry milkshake. So good! The matcha had a strong, bold matcha tea flavour. I probably liked it more than my friend. We both loved the mango and pistachio. This place does fruit fillings so well. The mango was bright and fresh. The pistachio was delicious. This place also has drinks. I hope to consume one the next time that I'm there. I loved everything that I sampled. It's nice getting special baked goods from this place from time to time. It runs on the expensive side, but it makes sense giving the quality of ingredients that comprise these yummy delicacies. I'll be back for more, but it won't be weekly. (441)
