I have been on a macaron kick for a few weeks now. I decided to get some macarons from Patisserie Fleur after work on an early Tuesday evening. This bakery is in downtown Markham. I have eyed this place for years and finally dropped by. It's across from The Origin where the Cineplex VIP theatre is. I parked in the lot on the northwest corner of Andre de Grasse Street and Enterprise Boulevard, next to Grande Burrito that used to be Copper Branch. Parking is free. It's steps away from Patisserie Fleur. It's such a charming bakery. I saw croissants in the display case to my left that I wanted to devour. The seating area was cozy and clean design-wise. There were two women behind the counter. They said hi. They were kind to let me take a look at everything in the display cases before I made any decisions. This store had Korean macarons. Perfect! I got a mixed box. The desserts look beautiful and yummy. I also got heart peach oolong tofu cheesecake. I paid with a credit card. Prices are on the higher side. My heart cheesecake was $8.50 and my box of five Korean macarons were $19.50. I will say that the packaging is awesome. I have a feeling that the price takes into account the premium boxes that my items were safely in. They were classy and nice. I thanked the woman who helped me with my order. I grabbed my goodies and walked back to my car. I then headed home. I had the heart peach oolong tofu cheesecake. It was so good. It was slightly sweet, which I appreciated. The peach flavour was perfect. The cheesecake was smooth. You can't tell that it's tofu. I brought in the macarons for my friend and me to enjoy at work. The mix box had these flavours: - Strawberry - Mango - Pistachio - Earl grey - Matcha I remembered to bring a knife into work. No, I'm not a violent person seeking revenge on an evil colleague. It was to split each macaron, so we could taste each one. We went with the earl grey first. The tea flavour was subtle. It had more of a lemon flavour. The flavour strengths should have been reversed. We loved the strawberry. It tasted like a strawberry milkshake. So good! The matcha had a strong, bold matcha tea flavour. I probably liked it more than my friend. We both loved the mango and pistachio. This place does fruit fillings so well. The mango was bright and fresh. The pistachio was delicious. This place also has drinks. I hope to consume one the next time that I'm there. I loved everything that I sampled. It's nice getting special baked goods from this place from time to time. It runs on the expensive side, but it makes sense giving the quality of ingredients that comprise these yummy delicacies. I'll be back for more, but it won't be weekly. (441)

We decided to swing by for dessert before a movie across the street. There were only a few tables inside but it wasn't busy so we were able to find a seat right away. We ordered the matcha yuzu and double chocolate cake. For drinks we ordered a lychee soda and osmanthus tea. We got our cakes immediately but the drinks took some time to make. The cakes looked beautiful and tasted not too sweet, however, there was a tad too much cream for my liking. The drinks were very refreshing on a hot summer day. It is a casual cafe that's not noisy so good place to catch up with a friend. The decor is quite aesthetic making it a nice spot to take photos. I would return to try the other items on the menu!

Excitedly visited here after checking their cake line-up. It sounded like they have very unique French cakes with Asian-inspired twist. But unfortunately, all cakes were disappointing. We bought: - Sesame Noir - Earl Grey Pear - Strawberry Shortcake - Matcha Yuzu I do not go into the details of each cake, because all the cakes had the same, monotonous texture. The flavors may be different, but those flavors were simply folded into the cream. The amount of cream was just too much and we cannot finish none of the cakes. Just impossible to keep putting heavy cream in my mouth - overwhelmed by the layer after layer of heavy creams - I did not know what I was eating - definitely, not cakes! The Strawberry shortcake did have more sponge inside but it was grocery store's sponge cake quality. They use mediocre strawberry jam for extra flavor, which I disapprove of! The price point was on the high side. Not worth the money. Overall, lacking sophistication, depth, and elegance in the taste. My review may be limited as it is solely on their cakes, and I did not try their pastries or drinks. But I do not think I would go back to try other items.

We wanted a few minis to celebrate an anniversary as it allows us to try the many different ones instead of ordering a large cake. Luckily I called before going to the bakery because they were sold out of a few I wanted to try so these I got from ordering over the phone and reserving them for next day pick up. The customer service was really good. The packaging was beautiful. Nothing short of expectations though as you pay $8ish per cake! We got 6 for $48 which was cool coz some were actually $8.50 so we got a small deal. I only review 4 here because we gifted 2 in a separate box to friends. The sesame noir was quite nice. It was more mousse (therefore squishy) and less cakey than I'd like but the flavour profile was very good. The lemon is also if you like tangy. It was probably a bit sweet for us but the smooth shell and lemony cream inside was amazing. The hazelnut supreme is like a rocher but moussey. The flavour again is done really well and it's definitely a classic. The Santa hat was supposedly a chestnut cream. This one was the most disappointing because I didn't really make out what the flavour was without already knowing what it was supposed to be. All in all a good experience but probably a little too much mousse for us!

Got a chance to visit this pastry shop. The staff was very nice in explaining as it was my first visit . Tried their mini cakes (6) ate 2 of the 6 in store and took home 4 to enjoy later time. Cake is superb, doesn't take too sweet, just perfect . Drink was ok , maybe will try other drinks on the menu on next visit . Restaurant is clean but do have a lot of tables so might depend on time of visit .

I ordered the Christmas Earl Grey pear cake last week, the 5" size cost approx. $45. I would have liked if the earl grey flavour was stronger. The cake itself wasn't that tasty and the tree design could have been better for such a premium place. The online ordering system was quick and efficient. Overall, I've had better cakes elsewhere in Markham.

    Ferrero Rocher Chocolate Cake

One of my favourite places to get cake/ birthday cakes! Their cakes are decorated beautifully and the taste is always spot on. My parents are usually picky about how sweet cakes are, but they always seem to enjoy cakes from here. 10/10 should try their Ferrero Rocher Chocolate Cake its super delicious!

Came back for a second round! The Matcha Yuzu was very good. You can really taste the matcha and the hint of yuzu is just perfect. The Honeycomb Dalgona Latte & Raspberry Lychee Sparkling drink were very good. Very refreshing on a hot summer day! I wasn't a fan of the peach oolong tofu cheesecake. The texture was a bit hard/dense and the flavor is more bland. Even for Asian standards. I highly recommend the matcha yuzu, Earle grey pear & sesame noir!

Afternoon tea set savoury items Not shown: Ham & cheese croissant
    Brandyn T.

We tried the afternoon tea take out set that comes with 8 items; 4 savoury and 4 sweet, plus a drink of choice. The set must be ordered at least 24 hours in advance either via phone or online. I'd recommend ordering one set per person as most of the items aren't easily sharable. DRINKS: The two drinks we ordered were the Ice Matcha Latte and Ice Latte. Both drinks came in a cute clear can and neither were overly sweet and very palatable. SAVOURY ITEMS: The savoury box came with a taro mash potato hash, ham & cheese croissant, popcorn chicken, and smoked salmon tart. The potato hash wasn't crispy as I'd expected but rather a tad mushy and cold since the tea set was stored in the fridge for pick up. However, the sauces on the hash were a delicious mayo and teriyaki-like sauce. The ham & cheese croissant was standard; flaky and fluffy. The popcorn chicken, although cold from the fridge, was seasoned nicely with a Taiwanese curry spice (not overly spicy!). The smoke salmon tart had a nice balance of sweet, smoky, and savoury. Overall, the savoury items weren't anything really to write home about but were still nice snacks to go with the tea set. SWEET ITEMS: The sweet box came with a macaron, strawberry mousse cake, matcha tiramisu, and a vanilla cream puff. The macaron had a nice authentic texture, but a little too much filling for my liking. The day we went we got an earl grey flavoured one, which was really pleasant but a smidge on the sweeter side. The strawberry mousse cake was really fun to eat since it was in the shape of a strawberry. It was a good balance of tart and sweet (like a yogurt). The matcha tiramisu was really light and creamy, but the cream to cake ratio was heavily on the cream side. The vanilla cream puff was probably my personal favourite. The choux pastry was so decadent yet fluffy and light. I devoured it. CONCLUSION: Overall, the experience was really fun getting to sample a variety of snacks and sweets, however for the price some of the items could be more refined. Nonetheless, it was fun and would be perfect for a summer picnic. I'd recommend if you're open to splurging a bit for an afternoon.

    Black sesame

This review is based on the large black sesame cake, which my friend got me for my birthday! That being said, I don't know how much it costs so I cannot comment on the value. I don't love black sesame but I LOVED IT in this cake! It was quite flavorful, not over sweet, and I LOVED the different textures especially the slightly crunchy exterior. It is clear that every component of the cake is carefully selected and purposeful, with its own flavor/texture. It is also very beautiful and unique. Highly recommended!

My friend got me some mini cakes and they loom adorable!! The green one is matcha Yuzu and the yellow one is mango! Both were really good but I definitely like the matcha better. The best part is it is not too sweet!! I don't normally eat cakes due to most being overly creamy and sweet, but it was just the right amount. I would definitely want to try out their other pastry!!

If you're into desserts that aren't overly sweet, where it hits the spot but doesn't make you feel like you need a sip of coffee or tea to wash down that sweetness - Parisserie Fleur - is your best bet located in downtown Markham. The sponge of the cake is soft, the flavours are light and airy, I would personally like a little bit stronger taste than it currently sits at with a hint more texture, but I love the light sweetness that their cakes hold. Definitely got room for a little more creativity that can be thrown into their cakes, but I'd definitely come back again :)

We walked into a small space located inside J-Town, where the display case offers a wide variety of rotating flavors, making it easy to try something different with each visit. The shop is more of a grab-and-go stop than a place to sit for an extended visit, but the quality of the desserts makes it worth the short stop. The daifuku is the highlight here. The mochi has an incredibly soft, delicate texture that is not overly chewy, and the fillings are smooth, balanced, and not overly sweet. We tried a few flavors and found each one distinct, with the matcha, hojicha, and black sesame versions standing out for their depth of flavor. The strawberry and mango options offered a lighter, fruitier contrast, while the seasonal specials gave a reason to come back and see what was new. The dorayaki is also worth trying, with soft pancakes and a generous filling that pairs well with a cup of tea or coffee, and the texture of the pancakes held up well against the sweetness of the filling. Since everything is made fresh, popular flavors can sell out later in the day, so visiting earlier gives you the best selection. We noticed that the display case was fullest in the morning, and a few items were already gone by the afternoon. Individual pieces are priced higher than standard bakery desserts, but the quality and attention to detail help justify the cost. The freshness of the mochi and the care in the preparation are evident in each piece, and the flavors are well developed without relying on excessive sweetness. Sasaki Fine Pastry is one of the better places to try fresh Japanese mochi and daifuku in the Toronto area. The wide variety of flavors, consistently soft texture, and carefully made fillings make it an easy stop whether you are already visiting J-Town or specifically looking for authentic Japanese desserts. The combination of craftsmanship, freshness, and thoughtful flavor combinations makes it a destination worth seeking out for anyone who appreciates traditional Japanese sweets.

Other than whole cakes, they do have slices of cakes available and other mini desserts + a lot of macarons! Xuan Bakery has been on my list since they've opened and I finally had the chance to take a peek inside! It's your classic Chinese bakery, so nothing special there - you just take the tray and tongs at the far end and make your way to the register. The spacing can be done a little better - you can't really have more than 2-3 people looking and getting buns at the same time. SELECTION: There wasn't a lot of variety, but with the selection they do have, it was pretty unique. They have two different types of Pineapple Buns (bo lo bao): the classic and a Taiwanese version (which looks like Japanese melon buns). They also have several different sausage buns, including one with cheese and another with pork floss. These also look a bit different, it's not encased in the bun, but it's more of a hotdog kind of look. They also offer cakes and free samples of their cakes, which look and taste like your typical Chinese bakery cakes (not my preferred taste). They seem to really want to upsell their cakes (the lady kinda tried pressuring me to try and buy). PRICE: The prices were on the higher end. You're looking at about $4-6 per bun. They also have a 'lucky draw' going on right now if your subtotal is more than $25, but my draw required a minimum purchase of $35 lol (for a free slice of cake). FAV: The classic pineapple bun. The top was SO crispy yet the bottom was SO soft. I would go back just for this by itself. There was a lady ahead of me who ONLY bought the pineapple buns. She knows what's up.
