Couldn't resist revisiting this fabulous cakeshop for its beautiful craftsmanship again. This time we ordered a 10" Mango Almond Meringue Cake to visit a friend's family for dinner as dessert. My friends were amazed at the moment they opened the box. "The cake is so pretty. I didn't know you could find beautiful cakes like this in the neighborhood!" and "It is so beautiful and I just wanted to keep looking at this eye candy without eating it." and "Did you get it from far away? Where did you get it from?".... I am telling you, everybody was so happy with the awesomeness of this handcrafted cake, just by appreciating the look of it. The moment when we started eating it, awwww.... we all just couldn't talk anymore. The crunchiness from the meringue was so good. So light, so airy, so fluffy. The cream in the middle was simply fantastic. Smooth, rich, and tasty, and done with a great amount of crushed roasted almonds. However, the mango flavor could be richer to balance out the sweetness in my opinion. Anyhow, the beauty of having meringue cake is that it wouldn't stuff you up like some other heavy cakes would do. Won't feel guilty about eating too much, LOL! Such a great dessert for the entire group. My friends were greatly delighted, and I felt so cool about bringing the meringue in, haha! So happy about it. Seriously recommended. Fellow Yelpers, check this place out. They also have seasonal Christmas Logs available now.

    Very dry and not fresh

Ordered a 8" Black Forest unfortunately it was very dry and they forgot to add the Birthday Message on the cake. Quite disappointing because I've ordered from them before and I remember this being really good in the past :(

This is a hidden bakery in the first Markham place. They offer various cakes with different flavors. Service is friendly and quick, package is neat as well. Ordered a mango cream cake, the presentation was beautiful, with fresh and light flavors!

Overall 1.5, but happy to bump 0.5 for their customer service. Taro cake was dry, the taro while was real had a really unappealing texture, as it was grainy and was crumbly. There was an artifical flavoring in the cream. Layers of the cake was minimal, and the cake itself was quite small in size for the price. I believe this might have been a stale cake, perhaps a day or two already. Lychee cake was ok, and it did taste like lychee but sponge was just average. Quite a sweet cake overall. This one I may give it a 3/5 but wouldn't pay 7.50 for it. The pastries were also ok, albeit quite sweet. The peach tasted like those from a can, and the creme wasn't that flavourful and was overpowered by the sweetness of the canned peach flavour. The layers of the pastry was flaky though, and I can see it being a good base, but with this combination it was underwhelming. Overall I do want to support the soft opening, but there is definitely room for improvement. Hopefully give this place some time and they will make a few touch ups!

I bought the 12" mango meringue, which was about $55 (incl tax)

This location is new! A bit hard to find to be honest! The sign is too small and easy to drive by. Be on the lookout for a small gray sign with small black writing!! Maxims has always been the place to get the 'cake to impress'. Super delicious, nice to look at, and not a typical cake....so it's different without being risky. Of course, I'm talking about their meringue cake! A bottom layer of meringue, middle layer of cream with fresh mangos, then topped with meringue! Visiting my friend and her family after many years, I decided to bring this and it was a huge hit! *Note that there are nuts in this cake!

Came here for the first time and purchased their mango almond meringue cake. Check my picture to see how nicely they decorated the cake for Christmas. Super nice! The cake itself was delicious and everyone enjoyed it. The cream was not sweet, which is a good thing, to balance the sweetness of the meringue. Service was friendly, too! Located at First Markham Center (next to First Markham Place), and parking can he scarce during peak hours. I'd recommend you try this place.

Le Maxim is a cute cafe and patisserie that opened up near First Markham place. They have limited seating (12 seats). Similar to it's sister bakeries at Bayview (Richmond Hill) & Finch Avenue East (Willowdale), they sell pastries and cakes, as well as cake slices. They are particularly well known for their meringue cakes with fresh fruit such as mango and strawberry. Unique to this location is a purple taro cake which clearly has real taro in it. We purchased the mango almond meringue cake slice ($7), which had chunks of fresh mango and lots of almond speckled meringue and whipped cream. You can tell that the ingredients are all fresh. The meringue is crisp but not overly sweet. The fresh whipped cream helps marry the crunchy meringue and sweet mango. Cash only during soft opening as their POS system hasn't yet arrived. Will definitely be back for the mango meringue cake, and to try the strawberry shortcake and danishes.

    Mould in the chocolate dessert.

I used to go to Le Maxim's Finch location, the cakes were elegant and tasty. So, I thought to give Le Maxim behind FMP a try. We went to this shop around dinnertime yesterday. The shop was empty, but with lots of cakes and sweets. I got mango cake and chocolate dessert. After we got back home we took a bite of chocolate dessert, it tasted kind of weird. When I was about to throw it out, I realized there was mold on it. It was mostly inside the cake. I was super disgusted by it. I have never been to a cake shop that sells moldy desserts to customers.

Understand they are still going through soft opening so trying to give them a pass but expected atleast a better execution based on price point and big name of Maxim. Their POS wasn't setup yet but they didn't have a sign that said Cash Only so only found out when I tried to pay with card...luckily I had cash. There were like 4-5 people working behind the cake stand so a lot of standing around. Ordered Mango Shortcake and Napolean and heard the worker had to ask another worker which was the Napolean. Another worker insists to hand write a receipt using carbon copy invoice...totally unnecessary and waste of effort and paper as I was only buyung ready made slices in the cake stand. Took the cakes home and probably our fault with driving but small tip that other cake shops do is put a piece of small tape under the piece to avoid it moving around in the box. Taste wise is pretty average. Two pieces were $13+ that's like 30% more than Saint Germain...if you are going to charge that big of a premium then there will be higher standards in terms of taste, service, and overall execution...so I am expecting more. Will give them benefit of the doubt and try them again in couple weeks.

Like to get the meringue cakes. Other cakes also look good. There are a few tables to sit inside. Prices are reasonable

First time here, the place is beautiful and the staffs are nice and very helpful. I ordered a piece of green tea cake and a strawberry tart, not very sweet and tastes pretty light and delicious. Price wise is reasonable compared to other ones. Highly recommended!

I have eyed this place for years and finally dropped by. It's across from The Origin where the Cineplex VIP theatre is. I parked in the lot on the northwest corner of Andre de Grasse Street and Enterprise Boulevard, next to Grande Burrito that used to be Copper Branch. Parking is free. It's steps away from Patisserie Fleur. It's such a charming bakery. I saw croissants in the display case to my left that I wanted to devour. The seating area was cozy and clean design-wise. There were two women behind the counter. They said hi. They were kind to let me take a look at everything in the display cases before I made any decisions. This store had Korean macarons. Perfect! I got a mixed box. The desserts look beautiful and yummy. I also got heart peach oolong tofu cheesecake. I paid with a credit card. Prices are on the higher side. My heart cheesecake was $8.50 and my box of five Korean macarons were $19.50. I will say that the packaging is awesome. I have a feeling that the price takes into account the premium boxes that my items were safely in. They were classy and nice. I thanked the woman who helped me with my order. I grabbed my goodies and walked back to my car. I then headed home. I had the heart peach oolong tofu cheesecake. It was so good. It was slightly sweet, which I appreciated. The peach flavour was perfect. The cheesecake was smooth. You can't tell that it's tofu. I brought in the macarons for my friend and me to enjoy at work. The mix box had these flavours: - Strawberry - Mango - Pistachio - Earl grey - Matcha I remembered to bring a knife into work. No, I'm not a violent person seeking revenge on an evil colleague. It was to split each macaron, so we could taste each one. We went with the earl grey first. The tea flavour was subtle. It had more of a lemon flavour. The flavour strengths should have been reversed. We loved the strawberry. It tasted like a strawberry milkshake. So good! The matcha had a strong, bold matcha tea flavour. I probably liked it more than my friend. We both loved the mango and pistachio. This place does fruit fillings so well. The mango was bright and fresh. The pistachio was delicious. This place also has drinks. I hope to consume one the next time that I'm there. I loved everything that I sampled. It's nice getting special baked goods from this place from time to time. It runs on the expensive side, but it makes sense giving the quality of ingredients that comprise these yummy delicacies. I'll be back for more, but it won't be weekly. (441)

I had to check Google reviews to confirm instructions on their location, but when I got to the Langham Square plaza it was easy enough to find based on their address (unit number 2006). Staff gave clear instructions at pick up to keep the cake in the floor of the car during transport and to store the cake in a fridge until ready to eat. The box for transport was great because I got to check the design easily before leaving and the ribbon was tightly wrapped to secure the box cover to the base. The staff speak Mandarin as well as English. Payment was all done online beforehand. Highly recommend ordering their cakes for any event!

Xuan Bakery has been on my list since they've opened and I finally had the chance to take a peek inside! It's your classic Chinese bakery, so nothing special there - you just take the tray and tongs at the far end and make your way to the register. The spacing can be done a little better - you can't really have more than 2-3 people looking and getting buns at the same time. SELECTION: There wasn't a lot of variety, but with the selection they do have, it was pretty unique. They have two different types of Pineapple Buns (bo lo bao): the classic and a Taiwanese version (which looks like Japanese melon buns). They also have several different sausage buns, including one with cheese and another with pork floss. These also look a bit different, it's not encased in the bun, but it's more of a hotdog kind of look. They also offer cakes and free samples of their cakes, which look and taste like your typical Chinese bakery cakes (not my preferred taste). They seem to really want to upsell their cakes (the lady kinda tried pressuring me to try and buy). PRICE: The prices were on the higher end. You're looking at about $4-6 per bun. They also have a 'lucky draw' going on right now if your subtotal is more than $25, but my draw required a minimum purchase of $35 lol (for a free slice of cake). FAV: The classic pineapple bun. The top was SO crispy yet the bottom was SO soft. I would go back just for this by itself. There was a lady ahead of me who ONLY bought the pineapple buns. She knows what's up.
