I love love my Snowflake! It's my most favorite donut shop! Freshly made so they don't make a whole lot over. Called in order and it was ready for me at 9am. They open early and if you call then you can still get the dough and sugar fix a bit later! Really disappointed after my visit. Located on a busy road, it can challenging to enter and exit the very small parking lot. The shop itself is small and older, nothing special. Unfortunately, the young lady working the day I stopped in had terrible customer service skills. She did not greet me or even acknowledge me. Once I managed to get her attention she still didn't smile or even offer any friendly exchange of words. She looked really unhappy to be there honestly, maybe she was having a bad day. But honestly it says something about the business when an employee doesn't say "hello" back to a customer or a "your welcome" after being thanked, and just ignores the customer when they say "have a nice day". The donuts were good which is the only reason I'm giving two stars, but after this poor interaction I will go elsewhere for my donuts. read more

Traveling cross country and hungry but not starving, we found Snowflake Donuts on the map. Saw that they had kolaches so it was a definite detour for us. Super nice employees and delicious food. I had a jalapeno, cheese & sausage kolache which was fabulous! Everything looked so good that I even grabbed a glazed donut (and I don't like donuts, LOL!) which was great! Everything a hometown donut shop should be! I arrived about 06:15 on a Tuesday morning and the store looked like it was setting up for a photo shoot for advertising. Everything was in its place, the glass display cabinets were full as well as the displays behind the counter, the glass was spotless and the counter where you pay was as clean as it could be. I would go back just for the coffee if that is all they sold. I got a sausage kolache a dozen assorted donuts and a cup of coffee to go and everything was wonderful and still warm! The owner and the only other employee I saw were both wearing COVID19 compliant masks and you could tell by the twinkle in their eyes they were smiling beneath their masks. The service was great! Seriously, what else is there for a donut shop to be rated on other than possibly parking and that was more than adequate when I was there. A definite go-to whenever it's morning and I'm in the area. Stopped through Boerne on a recent mini road trip and unanimously decided we were starving. Had all intentions to go into the main part of downtown for some breakfast. Fortunately we had the windows rolled down and immersed with the delicious aroma Snowflake was creating! It was alluring enough to make a turnaround! This place is a Kolache paradise. Croissant kolaches, cheese kolaches, jalapeño kolaches, mini kolaches, crescent jalapeño cheese kolaches. So many delicious choices and many more I'm forgetting. This place was overflowing when we arrived! The parking lot was filled. Seriously people were parking people in. I was sure chaos was to follow but nope. Snowflake has the whole madness thing under control. You order pay and out in 2 minutes. It was amazing! Everything to order is in full view and ready to eat warm. We ordered 3 regular assorted kolaches ,2 mini kolaches and a dozen of donut wholes all for a little more than 10$. Everything was fresh, yummy and filling! read more

This place was very good for several reasons. First, the donuts were very tasty. Second, we were in just past noon and they had a little bit of everything still available. Far too often donut places that close in the early afternoon sell out of everything and only have a very limited selection past noon. These guys had a wide variety of options still available. What!!!!!? Yes, with only 62 cents on the card (which doesn't seem like much, but it's still currency) the grey haired lady said that their cash register would not take the gift card. My wife, being the nifty person that she is pulled out our last receipt from snowflake showing that we had 62 cents left on our card. The grey haired lady looks at the receipt says, "well your right, it does say 62 cents, but our cashier register won't take the card it's still full price [for the large coffee we ordered]." I have became a regular at the gem of a donut shop on Main Street in Boerne. My favorites include the glazed doughnut, Cinnamon roll, and the kolaches. The doughnuts are always fresh with a light center and flavorful glaze. These rank in the top two or three I have had in my long donut eating life. The service is friendly, quick and helpful. Then, I found Snowflake Donuts... these are the freshest and most delicious donuts I've found anywhere around San Antonio... tucked away on Main Street in Boerne. I've been here probably 8 or so times already and the staff is always friendly and it's a great little "hole in the wall" donut shop. Their kolaches are always on my daughter's "get em Dad" list. Freshest donuts I have ever had! Sinultaneously chewy and rich and well frosted with fudgy chocolate icing. I arrived as they were closing up, but the young girl working the counter was still kind and welcoming. And the donuts were still as fresh at closing as if they had just recently been made! I was bummed that they were out of kolaches when I got there, but obviously the locals are already hip to how great this dough palace is. Stopped in to grab dozen donuts and 3 dozen holes. Not sure how it happened but the girl worked my bill up to about $14, around three bucks higher than usual. The increase in price might have been easier to accept if the donut holes had been edible. When I got back to work and opened the box the holes were all smashed together. It looked like they were put in the box with a slingshot. I rate this trip far below my previous experiences at snowflake. read more

My current diet doesn't allow for frequent visits but this is the best local donut shop in town. Both locations (Main St. AND River Road) are owned by the same family who work hard at quality and consistency. They may be the hardest working young family I know, and they are amazingly kind! Don't let the franchise name fool you--there's great stuff here! Pumpkin donuts (only in the fall) and maple glazed with real crumbled bacon set the standard for creativity. The croissants and meat kolaches are super fresh--often still warm from the oven if you go early. A local favorite is the "kountry boy", a Czech style sausage with a pleasingly firm bite to the casing, wrapped in croissant dough--greasy but good! The ham and cheese filled croissant is excellent too. ATTENTION: They make a sausage, egg and cheese "biscuit" to order that is to die for--but be aware that the biscuit is not the usual dry, crumbly item. It's actually a big, fluffy yeast roll stuffed with a fried egg, cheese and a sausage patty. You can get it on a fresh croissant as well. You WILL have to wait a few minutes for it to be made but it is well worth it and far better than ANY fast food breakfast sandwich--and at a much cheaper price! All of the usual donut varieties, including filled, fritters, blueberry and specialties are there and they are good. When I take a mixed box to an event, everyone asks where they are from. You can't go wrong at either location but only the newer one on River Road has a drive thru. However, that is often VERY slow and backed up. Usually quicker to go in and order. GO. EAT! read more

I used to stop here every morning. The staff was super friendly, like a country store of old. After a recent medical procedure, I went about 4 months without stopping in. On my first trip back, I was very surprised to discover that they have an entirely new staff. This location has always been known for their phenomenal Kountry Boy Kolaches. They have been 5 star good as long as I've been going there. I've ordered them 3 times since my first return to the store, all three trips were very disappointing. Problems such as: dough not cooked all the way and if I had to wager a guess, serving kolaches from the day prior. All three times the sausage was so tough, I literally had to take it out of my mouth and throw it out. These kolaches used to be so good and tender and juicy that they almost melted in your mouth. They must be serving at least day old stuff. It's so disappointing. I used to wake up looking forward to my stop at Snowflake Donuts. I'm afraid those days are long over. And dare I even mention the actually donuts? The donuts aren't terrible, but they've also gone down hill in quality. I usually bought a bag of a dozen donut holes. For a single dollar, that was always a good deal. The problem is, now they are stale, and the glazing ends up on everything. They shed like they have dandruff. With the opening of the new Dunkin Donuts here in Boerne, my days of eating at Snowflake are unfortunately over. That really saddens me as I love to support local, mom and pop establishments but when their quality suffers this much even after multiple complaints and constructive criticism, what choice do I have ?
