We went here since we saw the viral large cinnamon roll on Instagram! The parking was slightly difficult. We parked near the city hall but it was a short walk from the bakery. There is limited outdoor seating outside but we found a great spot. Overall, the service is very good but I thought that the cinnamon roll and latte were average and not something extraordinary.
Came in to grab the giant cinnamon roll to-go as a surprise for my husband -- he loves cinnamon rolls, and I was excited to treat him. I may have hyped it up a little too much though, because it ended up being just okay. To be fair, I usually go into the city and will even drive about 45 minutes to a bakery off De Zavala for my cinnamon roll fix, so I might have set the bar pretty high. Still, this one just wasn't anything particularly memorable or worth going out of the way for.
I simply had to try the monster Cinnamon roll while I was visiting family in the Boerne area. My sister and I had the advantage of being the first two in the door that morning. I guess the only surprise I had was being asked if I wanted to heat the roll to eat it now. I figured they would all be fresh at open, but who knows. They aren't cheap, but they are massive and worth the $$. If I hadn't been traveling, I'd have taken some of that gorgeous looking sourdough loaf off their hands as well.
Stopped by Richter Bakhaus recently and overall had a really good experience. The pastries were fresh and clearly made with care. The cinnamon roll was huge and soft, with great flavor--but honestly, it had a bit too much glaze for my taste. It tipped from "perfectly sweet" into a little overpowering. Still good, just something to note if you don't love heavy icing. Friendly and welcoming staff. The only downside was that their espresso machine was down during my visit, which was a bit of a bummer if you're hoping for a full coffee experience. Really charming spot. It has that cozy, small-town bakery feel with a nice atmosphere to sit and relax for a bit. Definitely a place you'd want to hang out on a slow morning. Overall, I'd absolutely come back--just hoping the espresso machine is up and running next time, and maybe a lighter hand on the glaze!
What I ordered: Famous large cinammon roll - really good because while it is sweet and endulgant the bread of the pastry was still quite moist which doesn't happen with every cinammon roll. Peppermint latte - 3/5 (fine but nothing special) Tip: Parking right in front of the bakery is paid parking only but you can park nextdoor in a city parking lot for free.
This small bakery is tucked away in the back of a market Main 153 on Main St. but there is a back entrance off Watts. We had the bread pudding and some coffee, it was good, very sweet! The staff was friendly, helpful, and patient The bakery is small, but there is a communal dining area just outside their door. It's decorated like turn of the century (19th, not 20th) warehouse.
I saw this Bakhaus on Texas Eats and there was no disappointment. The gigantic cinnamon roll was outstanding. Just the right amount of cinnamon and sugar, but being a diabetic, I requested the icing on the side. We got to see the staff rolling the dough up with the cinnamon and sugar in it. RECOMMENDATION: Do not miss this bakery when visiting Boerne, TX.
Had cappuccino, cinnamon roll, and blue berry-lemon custard-muffin. Cinnamon roll was nice, enough for several folks to munch on. The hit was the muffin, very tasty. I wanted a regular drip coffee, but they were out of regular coffee. The cappuccino was good, but how funny for a coffee bar/bakery to be out of coffee. Cinnamon roll was very large and by the time we got 1/2 way in, it was a gooey delight. Not for everyone.
Okay I know they're known for the famous cinnamon rolls but let me tell you the star of the show was their vanilla ice cream! I know I know who would've thought. Perfectly churned ice cream, made with quality ingredients, the vanilla specs (must be Madagascar) in every bite just decadent. Be prepared for a long wait but worth it. The cinnamon roll was really good, a tad sweet for my liking. Next time I'll say frosting on the side. I am however wanting to come back for dinner... to be cont....
I came here to try their famous giant cinnamon roll. We got it heated up which is definitely the way to go- it made the center nice and gooey. This was fun to try but it wasn't really anything special. The giant cinnamon roll is a "one and done" type of experience in my opinion.
First time to the bakery part of Richter. My husband had the cinnamon roll prior and said we have to go back for that when you're back in Boerne. I'm sure there are other pictures but the cinnamon roll was literally as big as my head. Had really good flavor, soft and a ton of frosting. We asked for it to be warmed but there were some areas that were not warm (cool actually) but it didn't change the gooey goodness of the roll. They could consider offering to add pecans for a small up charge, but again, very good. We also got a sausage kolache-- that was a full (polish style) sausage with cheese and good breading. Prices were reasonable --$10 cinnamon roll and $5.50 for the kolache. Typical coffee and tea menu to choose from, again, reasonably priced (small coffee $2). There is outdoor seating as well as seating in their vestibule. Well behaved dogs are welcomed. We've enjoyed all areas at the Richter and would recommend to others and plan to return.
Visited for the first time over the weekend. It's a Huge cinnamon roll, we shared among the 4 of us. If you are down to have one on your own be my guest lol. They do sell smaller ones if you don't want a huge one. Cinnamons roll is really good, it's sweet but not overly sweet... at least for me it was not. We also got 2 iced Teddy graham cracker latte with oat milk, very delicious! Service: 10/10 Ambiance: Sitting outside before the 100 degree weather took over lol read more

I have seen so many Instagram posts about this viral Texas sized cinnamon roll. On Saturday they had a parade and festival going on in Boerne. I decided to go pick up one. Reviews say that the line is long and sometimes they run out. I am not sure if everyone was watching the parade I got lucky. There was not even a wait time. Everyone was so friendly! I took my order enjoyed looking at it and comparing it to the size of my head lol. Then I went asking how can I heat it up. I wanted it for Father's Day my dad loves cinnamon rolls. Turned out the one given to me is heated and the frosting makes it not good to be reheated. They did not hesitate to grab another one and give it to me. I offered to pay for it.... Nope! You take it and enjoy! I didn't touch the other one and I tried to give it back. Nope! Both are yours! There was a customer an older man I gave it to him. They didn't even show any sign of annoyance from this whole event. I got nothing but smiles and welcomes! I heated it yesterday as suggested. The chef is very smart the way she rolls it. You would imagine a doughy taste in the middle from how huge it is. All I can say it is perfection! Each layer of it tasted better than the other! If you are a cinnamon lover you can even use it as a birthday cake this is how big it is for only $10 read more

Quick, short and sweet little review on this one...small little coffee shop in Boerne that has some huge and delicious cinnamon rolls. The rolls were fresh and covered in frosting. We definitely go our fill trying to tackle this monster. The coffee itself was just meh for me though so I prolly wouldn't order coffee from the place again. The barista was friendly and helpful but we didn't interact much because of how busy I knew they were and would be. read more

Thanks for the kind words- I’m a bit perplexed by your rating, but…
THE. BEST. CINNAMON. ROLE. EVER We are talking caramelization, vanilla bean icing, moist and gooey goodness. It's as fabulous as you can imagine. You are missing out if you haven't tried this yet. The actually bakery had many different options from fresh made bread and biscuits to ice cream to cookies and even banana bread. I would highly recommend stopping by. The only downside is you need to park on the street or just park within view of your car from the bakery. The tapas place next door owns the parking lot and charges for parking, so just be aware of that. read more

We normally have tons of other items, but when 90% of our customers…
We heard about the Texas sized cinnamon rolls from this place so we stopped by to get one. Very tiny shop, limited items available but the service was friendly and we didn't have to wait. The cinnamon roll was huge, very good, lots of icing! My husband got a mocha, it was good too (not sweet enough for me). read more
While visiting Boerne for Dickens on Main, we decided to pop into the Richter Bakhaus for a coffee. While there, we decided to try the cinnamon roll that we had heard so much about (Instagram). I was SHOCKED at how big it was when it came out in the to-go box. The fake one they have in the display case didn't do it justice nor does my photo... it's truly massive. The icing is given to you on the side which I thought was a bit odd but it wasn't a problem. Both the cinnamon roll and the icing were some of the best I've ever had plus the price was super reasonable for it ($5 for the giant roll)! Every person that came in while we sat there and ate our roll/drank the coffee ordered a roll after seeing ours and were equally as impressed. We also ordered an Americana and a coffee. Unfortunately, they were out of the sugar free syrups but the coffee was good regardless. Overall- this was a great stop on our trip to Boerne. Will absolutely be back even if I visit just for the cinnamon roll! read more

Food is good Our waiter Michael was good. Tried to accommodate our service being that he seemed to be the only server on the floor. My grits were cold and so was my coffee. My friend's salmon Benedict was cold also. Otherwise the staff was pleasant and kind. Nice place to have an adult time. Many adult beverages non alcoholic or alcoholic to choose from. Ambience is nice. read more
This place has some amazing treats. If you are looking for gluten free treats, this place is for you. Although I didn't try any, they did have a great selection. My wife and I shared the Texas size cinnamon roll. It was amazingly good. The drawback, it was a little hard to cut through on the bottom. Probably because it so big but it was gooey at the center. They have smaller sized and they looked extremely soft and gooey, the way I prefer, but these are still amazing. The service was nice and extremely nice. read more

Went with some friends. My coffee was very weak but everyone else said they loved their coffee. I ordered a Carmel latte decaf. The rest ordered regulars. Cinnamon roll was the best I've had and I'm not usually a big fan of cinnamon rolls. Family also loved the leftovers I brought home. Service was not the greatest. Slow and not very good customer friendly. read more

Wowwwww!! If you have not been here and even if just passing through Boerne, this is a must stop!! I've never had such fresh pastries or bread! We took a loaf home to make some homemade oven roasted sandwiches. Even when I tried the bread prior to toasting it melted in my mouth! My kids couldn't get enough and I almost had to fight them for the last slices. JK... the cinnamon roll was enough to share with my partner, myself and 3 kiddos! It was bigger than my big head. IJS. It was hugeeeee!! The cookies were so soft in the middle yet had a dream worthy crispy edge! The lady was so sweet and patient! Did I mention they have BOOZY ICE CREAM???!!! read more

I thought the giant cinnamon roll here would be a gag more than anything but it was delicious! And it lived up to the reputation of being huge! Also had some good coffee to wash it all down. With very delicious food, fantastic service and reasonable prices, not only would I recommend coming here for a coffee and pastry, but I'll definitly be making the trip out to Boerne again to try some of their other treats. read more
