    Partially-eaten Rancher Sandwich
    Michael E.

I've been a huge fan of this place my entire life. We ate here a lot in high school! The sandwiches are so fresh and tasty ; I've been a Brainstorm guy most of my life, but the new Rancher sandwich they've added has taken over my top spot! Turkey, cheese, bacon, and their amazing ranch dressing on hot sourdough bread? Yes please! Don't sleel on the soups and desserts, either! The potato soup is so good, just like your grandma used to fix and the pies are outrageously good! The staff is always kind and friendly. I always pop my head in the kitchen to thank them for a mighty tasty meal. Be sure to check out the mural on the back wall and see what places you might recognize!

Line was halfway through the cafe, so I figured the place must be good. If the only complaint I have is waiting in line, then I have to say this place is definitely on my must return list. Love the sandwiches, pickle and chips. Pies looked amazing, but I talked myself out.

Not a bad place but the hype is greater than it should be. Don't get me wrong here, the food is above average and the service is always with a smile. And the pies, well they are fresh made and because of that, they are superior. The place has one major problem, it is severely outdated and awkwardly cramped with stuff stored all over the place. You need bread crumbs to leave a trail to the restroom because you might have to navigate multiple rooms and a haphazardly placed dangerous step to find it and your way back. The whole place is not really set up for disabled due to that large step in the middle of the walkway separating rooms. There is also just years of grime that is deeply embedded into the floor, the walls and just everywhere. Again don't get me wrong, it is clean because the staff stays on top of the daily cleaning but after years of renovation neglect the place is just tired. So if you have made it this far, Bumdoodlers offers above average menu with superior pies and great staff but has an atmosphere that transports me back to staying at my hoarder of a man, father-in-laws house. Like I want to be here because it is good food but at the same time I want to only stay as long as I have to.

Excellent place to grab lunch! The staff is super friendly and the food was really good! The selection of pies and goodies is pretty good!

We have been in twice now. They were very busy both times, but we didn't have to wait long. Service was very friendly. The sandwiches are very simple but yummy and incredibly affordable. I haven't been disappointed this far. We have tried a number of their pies and cheesecakes and have loved every one. Their turtle cheesecake and Elvis pie are our favorites in particular. Check their special of the day. I can't recall the exact name but when I came in recently on a Thursday they had a turkey bacon ranch which I really loved. We live near six flags but will happily drive here for a sandwich and slice of their incredible pie or cheesecake.

Brainstorm for me and a Gobbler w/ potato soup for the Infiniti guru across the table. Delicious! Love the staff here. The fun atmosphere makes it a Boerne classic.

I LOVE bums! This is a great spot for a light lunch and have so many wonderful options! I prefer the gobbler sandwich with the thick bread! Always ask for two pickles! They have so many options to choose from. I've tried many of the sandwiches and the gobbler is my favorite. They are super busy once it hits at 12pm. They are great for customer service and speed of receiving my food. I personally love the chocolate pie with whip cream for dessert. I've never been disappointed when I go here and will continue to support this small business. Great food! Great service!

Huge sandwiches and great deserts. Quick service. Was surprised to see two of the three seating sections closed an hour before closing on a Saturday; which only left 4 small tables (which meant we had to split up our party over two tables).

They have above average sandwiches and delicious soup smothered spuds. I typically get half of a broccoli cheese spud which is the baked potato with cheese and soup poured on top. It's my favorite item here. Today they were out of potatoes so I got the half sandwich and cup of soup combo. I got the Bum's Brainstorm (warm) for my sandwich. This sandwich is delicious but it's not as good if you don't get it warmed up!

The menu is on the wall and ordering at the counter. There are yummy looking pies in the case. We were happy to see liver and onions with 3 sides. It also came with an incredibly tasty muffin, which we were told was a type of bran muffin. The liver was very thinly sliced and nicely grilled. Sides were generous. We got drinks and my unsweet tea was nicely brewed, which in Texas is expected. Counter staff was friendly and service was quick. The environs are in serious need of an upgrade, which I doubt will happen to keep the prices low. As it is our shared meal and two drinks was about $25. We were very pleased with our meal, the restrooms were clean and easy access, and overall other than extremely dated decor this eatery is a Boerne classic!

Portions are good and getting the large portion may mean you can share with partner. Chicken fried steak is good, mashed potatoes are the staple of my choice. The other day my husband and I were there and as usual, it was busy. The staff is super friendly! The food comes out in the expected amount of time to make you feel like it was made just for you, but not from scratch, lol. I was disappointed in the mac n'cheese. It was extremely bland. And the corn was definitely from a can, not a bit of salt or butter. We shared a chopped sirloin and it was good. On other visits I can say I have enjoyed the chicken tender salad and fried catfish but really the chicken fried steak or chicken are my GO TO choices. I will say, if the owner is reading this...I know you are super busy, but your restaurant needs a good cleaning and refresh. It's kinda worn out. The chairs aren't comfortable. The booths need to be scrubbed, even the walls adjoining to the booths are dirty. Maybe your bussers clean the table tops great after each use, but the surrounding area is kinda gross. I am not saying I won't be back, or even that people shouldn't give it a try, just setting expectations and hoping that the owners make some time to get back to quality on every plate and at every table.

On a sunny Mother's Day morning, myself and 3 family members enjoyed a wonderful dining experience…read moreat Sunny's! Almost a month and a half beforehand, I made reservations online, which was quick and easy. For the occasion, they offered a special menu to help streamline ordering. The entrees were $28 and included either a mimosa or specialty drink. My mom and aunt both ordered the Southern Hospitality, which came with eggs, shredded hashbrowns, bacon, sausage, toast, and berry compote. My aunt paired hers with a mimosa while my mom chose a drip coffee. My little cousin had the mini stack pancakes topped with fresh berries and whipped cream. I was looking for a lower-carb option, so although I considered the omelette, most of the included ingredients were not to my liking. Instead, I ordered 2 eggs with added tomato and a side of hollandaise sauce. For my drink, I chose the Sunnycito coffee. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals! The presentation of each dish was beautifully curated. I really enjoyed my food overall, though I was not particularly fond of the hollandaise sauce. The flavor was not very enticing to me, and the consistency was a bit too thick. However, the Sunnycito coffee was absolutely superb! I almost ordered another one to-go. It was a beautifully blended, smooth, rich concoction inspired by a café con leche, or "cafecito", a Cuban-style coffee. When I looked over their regular menu beforehand, the drinks were labeled as either hot or iced, and I had only seen the Sunnycito listed hot, which is how it is traditionally prepared. Our wonderful waitress kindly asked if I would prefer it iced, and since I was in the mood for something cold, I happily agreed. I highly recommend this drink! They also add a hint of orange zest, which was such a unique touch and something I had never encountered before in a coffee. Despite how busy the restaurant was, everything seemed to run very smoothly. The staff remained attentive to everyone's needs, and our water glasses were never empty. I regret forgetting our waitress's name, but she was personable, sweet, and attentive throughout the entire experience. Altogether, it made for a very special and memorable Mother's Day celebration. I can't wait to return!

One oddity is there is a ramp leading to a door, but apparently that is not the entrance, at least according to the sign on the door. The entrance has stairs you need to ascend. So much for wheelchair and mobility issue friendly. We were seated quickly. Overall impressions are its clean, and normal restaurant chatter. There is seating inside, as well as outside, and apparently there is an upstairs seating area as well. Seating inside is close together, so this is not the place for conversation that you don't want others to hear. Waited quite a while without any acknowledgment of any kind, no drink order taken, nothing. After our waitress arrived, our drink orders were taken. At this point, since we still haven't received our drinks, I'm going to break from normal and mention the terrible service. I would normally wait until the end but this deserves mentioning. A different waitress approached and asked about our drinks. After another wait, our drinks arrived. Correction, the 2 coffees arrived. Not the Diet Pepsi that was ordered. On the plus side, my wife and daughter rated the coffees a 4.5 and 4, respectively. They did mention they were slightly less happy with the sizes. We finally placed our food order. Upon arrival, the food, fortunately, was excellent. My wife and daughter both rated the crepes 5 out of 5. I would rate the omelette 4.5-4.75. We are hoping the service was a fluke, because we had read good things about Sunny's, and their overall ratings are high. I can say this was one of the worst services I've experienced in quite some time, including fast food establishments. We will try again, and hopefully the service is better. So take from this what you will: Based on food and cost, I would rate Sunny's a 4.25. Factor in the service and I would rate it a 2.5, and wouldn't return. Hopefully our next experience is better.

Tried lunch on a recent weekend. Not surprising total sports bar vibe. Shout to the place that started this riff off yet totally about to die miserably aka Hooters. We've been seated; attentive service through out the meal. Extra asks delivered quickly. She likes boned wings naked with BBQ on the side. No complaints from her side except she thought the house made tots were better on the last visit. I decided to try a combo of boned wings and chicken tenders. Boned in the hottest Buffalo sauce offered and went with the recommendation of the waitress on the Garlic Parmesan tenders. For the boned I wish they would have been double sauced. Asking for more sauce only got me cold sauce. Through many mediocre attempts I've decided boneless wings aren't my thing. Mostly factory made, fried too many times, and sauced by the restaurant. Better alternative was Sauced split (almost a paillard) tenders. I think this will be my next meal here. Tenders double sauced in the Buffalo sauce. And, I'll be skipping the Caesar Salad that we ordered on this visit. Kitchen, it's not a "Caesar" if the ingredients aren't true to the original recipe. I'd probably be all over a higher start rating if this attempt to avoid double fried (at least on my side) was acceptable. We both took a bite and pushed the salad away to the other side of the table. Find an old recipe from Mexico and correct it.

The ambience might not be Old World Italian with a Chianti bottle candle holder on your table, but…read morethe food certainly is. In fact there are two shining stars of Luciano's, food and service. A basket of fresh, hot and soft bread rolls hits the the table almost as soon as we sat down. We had the fried Calamari appetizer for the two of us and it was enough to be a meal by itself. Don't let the underwhelming descriptions on the menu fool you, the Shrimp Luciano comes with 6 super-sized shrimp that are beautiful and lightly encrusted on top of perfectly prepared buttery spaghetti. In order to keep the light crunch of the shrimp from getting soggy, the lemon butter sauce sits on the bottom of the bowl for dipping and sopping as desired. Every dish I saw comes from the kitchen looking "photo ready". Great presentation. What really made this evening pop was our server's attention to our table. Sophia never left a single detail unattended. If she felt our drink was taking too long (which I didn't), she'd apologize and let us know she was going to check on it. Her attention to detail and perfect timing was an absolute complement to the quality of the food. I didn't feel like she was waiting on us, it felt more like we had our own personal representative on staff. Finally, ambience...probably the weakest link of Luciano's, the conversation level is loud enough in the room that you don't feel like you have to whisper for privacy giving the room a lively and family friendly feel. There is background music playing but it's almost non-existent, in fact I had to stop and tilt my head to detect it. Personally I like a little background music and it wouldn't hurt to turn up the volume a notch. Over the long bar is a single screen with muted sound playing an NBA game. Luciano's is not over-priced with great food and great service. I'll be back
