I just passed by Parlor doughnuts to try it out. The cases were empty for restocking. A very nice lady welcomed me and told me that anything i like will be ready in a couple of minutes. I decided to try the chicken bacon ranch and keto chocolate one. It looks appealing in the pictures. I stared eating the chicken bacon ranch the dough is doughy and under cooked or is it supposed to be like that? Definitely not for me! The chocolate keto one as she explained has more of a cake texture which is better but still not for me neither The service was prompt and very welcoming Not sure what the rave reviews are all about. Ok, I have been completely sleeping on Parlor Doughnuts!!! They are literally right down the frontage road from me and I just discovered them the other week. Their layered donuts are absolutely amazing - and they have a full gambit of flavor options. Sweet, savory, or both combined! The donuts are light and fluffy without losing the cake-like appeal of donuts. What I also really enjoyed was that they did not become firm throughout the day. They are large donuts and I am not able to eat them all in one setting. It was nice to come back to them and they still have the same texture as the first bite; this is not the case for many other donut spots. I thoroughly enjoyed the turtle cheesecake, doughnut, and even the coconut cream filled doughnut!!!! I am usually not a fan of cream filled donuts, but this one knocked it out of the park - frosting was light and cream in the middle not overbearing or too thick. My four year-old daughter really loved her standard chocolate sprinkled doughnut :) ;) They clearly have the basics and gourmet options set! The menu also included breakfast items that sounded amazing like avocado toast and other breakfast sandwich sandwiches. I came here a few days ago and thought was a fun experience. My friend has a glutten allergy and this place offered more selections than other places. I do like the design and setup of the place. Very nice and clean and plenty of spots to sit. We were greeted by the staff and all off them were kind. They explained the menu and what my friend could order so she didn't get sick. It didnt take long to get our stuff and was very excited. I liked how they separated the donuts from regular to the glutten donuts. The donuts all looked pretty and fluffy so was very excited. I had the coconut stuffed donut and was my favorite. It wasn't overly sweet at all like I expected and plenty of cream in the middle. There was also chocolate cream donut that was good as well. I tried the French toast donut (vegan) and tasted good just not as fancy as the other ones really. My friend really like the donuts too except the blueberry one (said maybe needed to be cooked a bit longer for her). Service: friendly and welcoming as you walk in.! Ambiance: nice and clean, love the menu as you walk in and the doughnuts displayed. Doughnuts were bigger in person, online they looked small. Glad i seen them in person. By the time i got there most of their doughnuts were unavailable, goes to show how popular they are. I ended up trying three different ones, Sandy Beach, Turtle Cheesecake, and Coconut Cream. So delicious, fresh and soft. Toppings are great adds a nice touch. I didn't see an adult in sight-not that it's a bad thing. In the entire case there were probably only 6 donuts in the case. I asked the young man in taking our order if they were out of donuts and he said they'll make a fresh one for you! Whatever donut you want! I thought that was pretty sweet! We tried the French Toast, Maple Bacon and Lemon Bar (sorry if I got the name wrong). I got the Maple Bacon and it was sooooooooooooooooo sweet that my teeth hurt...mind you I love sweets...I just could not for the diabetes in me finish that donut. The Lemon one didn't have much of a lemon flavor but rather artificial taste. French Toast was sweet -too sweet. The donuts - if you call them donuts is more of a hybrid between a Churro and a Beignet. Definitely not a classic donut. Different but not my taste. Pricing; for 3 donuts a small iced coffee, small cappuccino and a small kid's milk was about $28 s tip. Heard about Parlor Donuts from a family member who fell in love with them in another state, so we had to try them out - they are excellent layered donuts in a variety of flavors! We tried the peanut butter cup and blueberry hill donuts along with a chocolate milk - both excellent choices. The only downside is that for the same price, the gf donut is half the size as their regular donuts and shaped differently. They gave out free mini donuts if you dressed up for Halloween. Omg one of the best doughtnut fought its I've tried. For me they rival Sidecar, a famous doughnut shop in LA . They were served warm which was amazing! The dough was soft and pillowy and tasted very nice and not too sweet. We tried the bacon, birthday cake and the infamous French toast. Wow the French toast was indulgent but delicious. I am THRILLED that we actually have a "fancy" donut spot near by!! I need my "fancy" donut fix after leaving SoCal to move here!! I came here with my son at around 5ish... everything looked like it was all gone, but they told me that they actually fired a fresh batch of the donuts and all they need to do is glaze to whatever flavor choice I wanted, WHEW! Service wise, the workers that were there were nice and helpful in getting our choices in. Parking: ample shared parking in the shopping center and free of course :) We got: Raspberry Pistachio, Churro, Maple Bacon and their Strawberry Sprinkles. The flavors were on point (at least for mine since everyone just wanted to eat their donuts and not share haha), loved the amount of pistachios that were on mine, I could always use more of course, but it was good! They also sell doggy donuts for your furry friend, they're about $2.50 each and a pretty good size! This was a pleasant surprise! I woke up and Instagram had a advertisemet of it's grand opening with a free donut if you download the app and what better way to try something if it's free? It reminded me of Shipley's with the donut display and their flavors. They were out of some but I believe they can make any except possibly the seasonal flavors if they're limited. They have seating space inside that's nice and spread apart. I got the Cookies & Cream and French Toast. I took them home and warmed them up and they were divine. The donuts were light and airy on the inside. The employees are happy to explain how everything works and they take care of you one at a time so you're not abandoned. While I wanted to love this place based on the reviews and amazing social media video reels, these "doughnuts" did not live up to the hype. The store itself is open, with a view of some of their "doughnuts." You are greeted by their amazing staff who helped in every way possible giving you advice and answering any questions you have. They do not really have any specials other than if you order 12+ "doughnuts", instead of $3.95/pastry, it will be $2.95/pastry. They also have KETO doughnuts!! For someone who has been trying to lose weight, I do indulge occasionally so when I had the opportunity to come here, I was so happy they had this option. They also have gluten free options as well. Don't forget about your furry family!! They have doughnuts for your dogs!! The place was clean and well maintained. It's in a super cute shopping center, a prime location. Now on to the so-called "doughnuts". I do understand trying to stand out, be unique because in a world where there are donut shops on every corner, you want to separate yourself and draw people in instead of giving them a typical yeast/cake donuts. However, I understand the pastry is "fried" but I personally do not consider this a donut but a deep-fried croissant covered in different flavors. The croissant is the base of this pastry. What brings in the flavor is what they put on top. I guess saying Parlor Croissants doesn't sound as appealing as Parlor Doughnuts. While the croissant was layered beautifully, I believe they over fried it because it was overly crispy and crumbled in my mouth. I was hoping for a crispy outside but buttery and smooth center. All I got was super crispy on the outside and very dry on the inside. What we ordered: - Cookies 'N Cream: not enough toppings to really get that cookie n' cream flavor. The pastry to cream ratio, though the photo is deceiving, wasn't enough IMO. You have this massive, thick pastry and just a smidge of "cookies" on top. I think if you incorporated the cookie more, maybe it would have been different? The croissant was very dry. - Churro: not sure where this one was at because it was just chocolate with a tiny pinch of powdered sugar. Did not taste anything like a churro! - Campfire: not enough graham crackers to distinguish it being a s'more! Just chocolate and marshmallows. Maybe do a marshmallow cream and bigger chunks of graham crackers will actually give you that s'mores flavor! If you can somehow, have them toast the marshmallows??? Now you're taking it to another level! - Raspberry Jelly Filled: I will say that the jelly did make the croissant very moist inside and was actually pretty good! This was by far my favorite because the jelly moistened the croissant. However, the raspberry filling seemed artificial to me and not made fresh. - Raspberry Pistachio: I didn't get raspberry in the frosting and the pistachio only gave it another texture. I would suggest using pistachio paste to give that oomph flavor! - Strawberry Shortcake: I believe it had a strawberry icing? I know it had two strawberries on it but it was still hard getting past the rock solid croissant. It does seem they use fresh cream for their donuts so that's a plus. Keto: - Cherry: I couldn't believe this was Keto! I had to stop chewing and contemplate if this was really sugar-free! The doughnut fell apart as soon as I picked it up but it was very moist and not dry like I would expect a keto doughnut to be. The cherry flavor was incredibly overpowering. I would personally recommend just one bite every so often with this pastry because the cherry flavored icing was very very strong! I'm going to guess they use monk-fruit powdered icing because when has a very cooling effect on your palette when you eat it. - Cinnamon Sugar: the base is the same as the cherry, just a different topping. I personally didn't get a lot of cinnamon flavor unfortunately. But overall these were way better than the actual parlor doughnuts in my opinion because they were super moist and not rock hard and crumbly. Like I said, I couldn't get past the actual pastry to really enjoy this so-called "doughnut". Would I go back here? Yes, but for the KETO donuts not for their prized possession! I'm so happy that a place like Parlor DOUGHnuts is nearby. Located off the I10 highway in the Boardwalk Shopping Center, this cute, NOLA/French-inspired doughnut bistro is not only good for people in the area but also great for folks traveling through our fair city. When we walked in and Victoria warmly greeted us. I had to stop and take in the beauty and aesthetic of the place before I could even get to the doughnuts. Whomever designed this place had a vision that was beautifully executed. There was a shocking amount of seating for a place that appears so cozy from the outside. Off to the right of the entrance is a merch shop with tees, mugs, and even coffee served in-house. There's a generous amount of flavors of doughnuts to choose from once you get beyond the beauty of the shop. Their doughnuts are mostly sans holes but filled with gooey treats. The choice is almost overwhelming, but I chose to go with tried and true with a healthy balance of exploration. Maple Bacon, Bourbon Caramel, and Raspberry Pistachio were the flavors I selected in our box of a dozen. The other flavors we selected were Chocolate Chocolate, Dreamsicle Lemon Bar, Turtle, Smores, and Coconut Cream Filled. Oh! I also got a patch for my jean jacket. We paid $42 for a dozen. There is a local doughnut that is more expensive, but that's because the proceeds go to a local charitable organization. They also give a military discount. We took our doughnuts to go, but again, plenty of room to eat there. They also serve sandwiches and a variety of coffee drinks. Victoria was so engaging, polite, and helpful throughout our visit. Another employee cleared and cleaned a table as soon as other patrons vacated it. The employees are really doing the work to retain customers. Victoria couldn't answer whether the doughnuts were made with a brioche dough. It's important to be able to give customers info on what makes your doughnuts so special, so that may be something to improve upon. I actually walked out saying "God, I hope these doughnuts are amazing because I really love this place." The doughnuts were good. To me, they were comparable to Duck Donuts in creativity. The dough's texture, which I think is brioche, was slightly tough, but I can imagine how much nicer they'd feel freshly made. The coconut cream filled lacked salt, and the whipped topping did nothing for the doughnut. I would either decrease the amount or do away with it in favor of coconut glaze. The turtle was gooey and flavorful and the lemon dreamsicle was exceptionally tart. My biggest gripe (and the reason for the imperfect score) is the consistency in the doughnut's size. We had two of the same doughnuts side-by-side, and it's easy to see that we're not getting the same product. There needs to be a system in place to ensure your customers are getting the same product if they're paying the same price. More than one of my doughnuts should've been cheaper than their counterparts. I wholly recommend Parlor Doughnuts. If they respond to constructive criticism, they'll be the best doughnut shop in the city. read more
