Finally tried this place as it's not too far from where we live. Quite a selection of donuts, kolaches, and breakfast sandwiches with a drive thru for on the run. Couldn't decide between a bear claw or apple fritter? Soft texture or crispy? Employee helped guide me and bear claw it was! Dough nice and soft with a bit of apple filling. A bit too much icing over the top which made it overly sweet for me. Maybe cut back a tad on icing. Friendly employees, clean establishment, reasonable prices! read more

Wonderful donuts! I don't eat donuts often but when I do my husband will pick some up from here. They are freshly baked and filled only once when you tell them what filling you want. The service is always good friendly and caring family. The store has places to sit and eat but it is mostly a takeout spot. Highly recommended. read more

We live extremely close to the Donut Palace, so it's very convenient when we want donuts and kolaches. The kolaches have always been fresh and they'll warm them for you if you're on the go. Today, we got the sausage kolaches and the bread was hard and doughy. I knew they weren't the same by just looking at them. I called to express my disappointment and was not offered a refund or replacement. I was told something about the flour and they had this problem yesterday. Then why are you still selling the product if it doesn't meet quality standards? We try to support local owned businesses, but we can't afford to throw money away on subpar food. Not sure we'll be going back especially since we weren't offered any compensation for mediocre food. read more

Recently moved back to this area and stumbled on this great little donut shop. The owners are extremely friendly and the donuts and kolaches are great...my favorite is the large sausage, cheese and jalapeño...and let's not even talk about the apple fritters...they are made the old way...with the apple baked into the donut. No matter what you buy, the owners always gives you a little something extra...we love that little extra they provide...awesome customer service! Hankering some donuts on a Saturday morning so we went over to the nearest donut shop gave Donut Place a try. The cashier was very patient seemed like the owner how he carried himself however not entirely sure very friendly service. I've been a customer here for a few years now. This is one of the best donut shops in all of San Antonio. The staff are always polite, friendly, and accurate. I was exploring the map for a breakfast sandwich spot and came across this donut shop down the street. The shop is very clean and calm. The lady behind the counter was very sweet. I didn't try the donuts this time but the bacon and egg croissant sandwich and sausage kolache sandwich were DELICIOUS! They have a lot of breakfast food options and it looked like a lot of donut options behind the counter. I will definitely be back to try the donuts. read more

The donuts are always fresh and delicious with a good variety. I especially enjoy the maple long johns without the filling!

UPDATED REVIEW: I've grabbed donuts from this place several times since my first review and they've really stepped up their game! Excellent breakfast Sammie's in homemade croissants, wrapped hot dogs, and a whole host of fabulous offerings! Upped my review from 3 stars to 5. DEFINITELY worth a try if you're out in the far west Potranco area. Grabbed a Subway sandwich and though I'd add some sweet to the savory, so I popped in to the Donut Palace a few doors down. They had a wide variety of donuts available, even though it was almost noon (nice). I chose a jelly and an apple fritter. The jelly dough was light and had the typical donut-y flavor. The jelly filling was extremely sweet, almost too much for my taste. The fritter was the typical fritter style...raised dough with chunks of apple embedded in the dough, then dipped in glaze. The owner/employee warmed the fritter (nice touch), but didn't ask me first if I'd like it warmed. All in all, the donuts were good, but not outstanding or memorable. Since this place is closer to home and more convenient than Sh, I'm sure this won't be my only trip. I wish I could give them a higher rating, but nothing stands out to warrant it. I'll try some different flavors, and update this review if my opinion changes. read more

I come here for breakfast before work frequently and am never disappointed! And today my husband and I came through the drive through with our son for breakfast and ordered a dozen kolaches, and he threw in some donut holes "for the baby"! Knocked off three stars for overcharging me and being shady about it. But before I get to that I will say that the donuts and kolache's were fresh and delicious, so much so that I may overlook the overcharge and be back for more donuts but next time call it out before I leave the drive-thru. So I went early in the morning to get some donuts for my family, it was my first time there so I looked at the menu, glanced at the prices and then ordered. The gentleman gave me my order then I gave him my card, he rang me up, gave me back my card and then in a shady tone said "thank you have a nice day". I said "uh, can I have my receipt?" He looked surprised I didn't just drive off without getting a receipt. He gave me the receipt and it had no breakdown of prices, just $25.17. His behavior made me think to myself there's no way that what I ordered added up to $25. I tried to remember the prices, later on went back and took photos of the menu to make sure is wasn't imagining things. When I added up what I ordered it totaled to around $17 bucks! Even with tax wouldn't come out to $25! I get it, we are in some rough times right now, especially small businesses, but you don't overcharge people thinking they're not going to notice. If I go back for more donuts and he tries to pull that on me again I will definitely say something about it. read more

Had a massive craving for kolaches. Drive all the way here to find out there online hours were not correct. They still had 30 mins before they were closing. The guy said he didn't have bacon, egg and cheese just sausage, bacon, egg and cheese. Turned out it wasn't right! They were HOT DOGS, with cheese inside them with a strip of bacon on a big roll. Came to grab some donuts for my kids, the guy at the drive thru had on one plastic glove which he used to grab donuts and the other ungloved hand, which I assume, to use for handling money or whatever else may be. Everything was all good up until he handled my cash with his gloved hand, and then proceeded to move donuts with the SAME GLOVE that he used to handle money as I drove off.... won't be getting donuts here again.. read more

The doughnuts are always so fresh and the kolache s are delicious! The people that work here are always friendly and have a smile on their face. The place is clean and no issues with seeing flies indoors which I have seen at other doughnut shops on the past. Definitely recommend read more
