While visiting family we got donuts and kolachies at Shipley. The employees were so friendly as was the owner who treated us to some free samples. The food was absolutely amazing. The Apple fritters melted in our mouths. The sausage and jalapeño kolachies were delicious with just the right amount of kick. Visiting Shipley is a weekly tradition for our family. We love the trip for treats when we visit but it's a good thing we don't live in San Antonio. We'd be tempted to visit so much we'd need new clothes. read more

Nothing wrong or special with this Shipley's. It's like every location I've visited. They are quick, donuts are warm, & the people are nice. One of the greatest things I love about Shipley's is that they are open at 5AM. Coincidentally, that's around the time I crave donuts. For some reason I love a good warm donut with chocolate milk to start my early mornings. I'm not a fan of crazy donut concoctions & just enjoy a good glazed donut. Shipley's, in my opinion, has the best glazed donut. It's not too sweet & it's sooooo fluffy! Simply, delicious! Thankfully this Shipley's is close to where I live & easy to access. Meh. I had high hopes. We are visiting from Florida and we have donuts on Friday. So I found this place on yelp and we headed over. The young man working seemed more interested in us hurrying up and leaving than anything. He was bothered that we showed up. The donuts were just ok. Nothing special. I've had way better at Dunkin'. Bakery are constantly going up to now approx. 376% higher to other local bakeries from researching. Today I asked the young man working the window if the items had gone up. His response was "I don't know, I just work here", he showed me the computer asking for the total. I asked for the Manager, Mr. David Taing, but he refused to come to the window and address the issue; a simple question. Stopped in today for first time in months to celebrate losing 45 lbs. Wanted a 1/2 donut and a small chocolate milk. IE 1/2 my usual treat. Was really disappointed to see that they have dropped the local dairy supplier in favor of a national supplier. If I wanted to go to Duncan donuts I would stop there. The local dairy product is far superior and I pray that you return to using it. It's the little things which separate Shipley's from the national brands garbage. It's a Shipley's Donuts. I don't know why people are expecting a red carpet rolled out for them when they walk in, these 1 star reviews are entitled and inaccurate. The owners are lovely and the staff is standard for any fast food place. The prices are higher because ALL OF THE PRICES ARE HIGHER. ITS CALLED INFLATION. Of course a cashier isn't going to be able to tell you why the prices are higher, they work for a cooperation. Twisting the narrative to try to tear down a business is nasty. Anyways, the donuts are good. I like classic glazed the best but my boyfriend loves the Boston crème ones and they always have the most of those gone so I think if you're going try anything to try those. read more

Visiting TX for the first time and Today 7/29/19: I walked in with a 5 yrs old kid trying to get something- yet the guy at the register with a beard had a Horrible greeting - he had a racist attitude- I told him he was not nice and he replied you are not friendly- really??? 1) when I walked in and said hello, he did not reply- I had a child. Manners and respect are 2 easy things to do regardless of a background. If you don't like ur blue collard job then look for something better to do and that makes u happy. read more

Open early and stays open late. Well, from 5a-7p. I like it cause it is walking distance from the Gracie Barra jiu-jitsu class my son goes to and we go there right afterwards as a treat. Bright, large and clean corner store. They offer doughnuts of many flavors, Pepsi fountain drinks, chocolate milk, lemonade, kolaches, etc. I love the cinnamon sugar doughnut or the iced chocolate. There is a drive thru in case you don't want to get out. You can get a large soda and one doughnut for $2.83, so not terribly expensive. There's some really sweet girls that work there who are friendly and helpful as well. read more

Unfortunate experience. We purchased 2-dozen donuts around 5:45 PM for my daughter's birthday party. When we passed them out, each donut was stale and tasted a day old. No one enjoyed them, and no one ate more than a bite or two of their donut. It was a colossal waste of money, and a real damper on my daughter's birthday celebration. When I called to voice my concern, I was told that the donuts were all made fresh in the morning and that no one else had complained about them. "Sorry, have a good evening" is all that was offered. No empathy and no offer to replace the horrible product they sold me. So, basically I gave Shipley's $16 for a box of inedible product. I typically enjoy Shipley's product, but with 2 Dunkin Donuts and a Krispy Kreme in the area, its not worth the horrible customer service experience to go back here again. At least twice a month I'll buy two dozen donuts for the office, and that return business will no longer belong to this location. Very disappointed. Everyone makes mistakes. How you address and resolve those complaints tells you all you need to know about the level of service you're dealing with. read more

Growing up in League City (Texas) there was a Shipley do-nut shop on the way to school. The line to get donuts was long and always ran down the street but the donuts were worth it... golden rings.. hot and gooey and always melted in your mouth. I salivate at the memory. It has been some time since visiting a do-nut shop. I drive by this place to and from work and when it first opened (a couple of weeks ago) the parking lot was full... packed even. Now I drive by and there is maybe 2 or 3 cars. I stopped by on a Sunday morning around 7:30 am. The donuts smelled great, were plentiful and displayed beautifully. The girl behind the counter was quick and efficient with a beautiful smile and extremely friendly. She assisted with my order which was half a dozen assorted donuts and a kolache. I paid for my purchase and got back in my car excited to surprise my husband with the treasure's I was bringing home for him. I decided to eat my kolache on the way home as it was nice and warm but I was disappointed.. the first half of the kolache was warm and did taste like cheese and jalapeno but I was unable to find my minuscule piece of sausage till the last third of my pastry. After I got home I started a pot of coffee and bit into a cream filled donut. The donut was cold and tasted like it had been made approximately a week ago. So after sharing the one bite wonder with my lab... I thought maybe it's just this flavor and proceeded to take a chocolate frosted donut from the box. Unfortunately it tasted as though it had been made the same time as the cream filled (and this one I couldn't share with the dog as it was chocolate) and it promptly went into the trash. I figured maybe it was just me (although I have had better donuts off the day old rack at HEB) and I took 2 donuts and a cup of coffee to my hubby who was still in bed and went to sleep (I work night shift in a hospital). When I woke that after noon I asked my hubby how his donuts were... seems like the lab was the winner as she had sampled several. I asked my son what he thought and his reply was there was one whole donut and one with a bite out of it still left in the box that would stay there. Needless to say the donuts were not worth the 6 dollars I paid for them.. in fact I don't believe they were worth 10 cents. Knowing I'm not missing out ... I won't be visiting them again. read more

Where to begin? This shop is nestled in an affluent community, and it is quite obvious that some of the employees live in the area. Initially, we noticed that the young men employed there did little more than stand, or sit, and talk about how overworked they are. They also indicated that things to be done were out of their realm of responsibility. We asked that a table be wiped down because they were all filthy. One of the boys came and wipes it off. Interestingly enough, he avoided wiping down the other tables. We found it interesting that there was an "employee chair" in the corner at the front counter which the youngsters fought over. It was used for many things: sitting to check the phone, sitting to eat a donut, sitting to nap, sitting to gripe about the job, and much moAfter managing people for many years, I know what I would do with this place. I am so disappointed. I grew up on Shipley's donuts and was excited to live near one again. Shipley's hot glazed donuts are my favorite. We arrived at 8:30 on a Sunday and were told they were completely out of glazed donuts. My husband order two jalapeño, sausage, and cheese kolaches. He ate the first one and realized there were no jalapeños in it. He took the second to the register where she informed him that he had not ordered jalapeño, but she would replace them. Knowing he had already eaten one, we were not expecting two kolaches back, but she gave him two. Once he took the tray, she informed him that he would have to pay for it. So we paid for his order twice. Disappointed is an understatement. We will not be back! read more
