I am visiting Phoenix and needed to get my hair done. I was apprehensive to go somewhere I knew nothing about but Robbie at the front desk WAS AMAZING at making me feel not only welcomed but that I was in good hands! He paired me with Megan who was kind and did a great job on choosing just the right color for me. I have received SO many compliments on the color. So much so, that I texted this morning to get the details so I could be sure my next salon appt was this awesome!! The only thing that was a bummer is that I'm used to getting a discount on the trim or it being included with color service. To add a trim would have cost another $60 which is a bit pricey for a quick trim so sadly I wasn't able to get that done and will have to go elsewhere for that part. I spent a lot of time researching salons when I knew I wanted a long shag cut and landed on Snapdragon Salon during a Yelp search. They were very responsive when I requested an appointment via FB Messenger and didn't seem to mind when I had to change the first appointment that I booked due to a scheduling mixup. I was 15 minutes late for my 5pm appointment due to traffic and when I came in apologizing, they immediately made me feel better about being late and sat me with Kathy right away. She listened to what I wanted and I showed her a few pictures and a video and she knew exactly what to do. I decided to be honest with them and state that it wasn't really what I'd been looking for. Snapdragon worked with me to set up a second appointment and have my balayage brightened and re-toned so that it would match what I'd been wanting. About a week later, I left the salon with the hair I'd been originally hoping for. When I first got to Snapdragon salon it was nice and the front desk girl was nice. I had booked with the first available since I'm new in this area and the girl who cut my hair did so with my hair dry. I went along with it since I've never had my haircut dry Aunt. She kept focusing on one area making it really short and not seeming like she knew what she was doing. I got a little upset and I left then I went back later and they fixed it and everything was fine. Going on haircut number two knowing the problems that were a problem before like dry cutting my hair. I sat in the chair and the stylus Christian started to do my haircut dry again and I'm like this is what happened the first time. This is where at palms all started and she said I feel like you're not going to like it if I cut it wet. Well I feel like I'm not going like it if you cut it dry. Very condescending as if I don't know how I want my haircut. I was open-minded the first time and it was a bad situation. So I just decided not to get my haircut there and I told them so. I didn't like the way Christian blow dried my hair. She had a crummy blow dryer. It made my hair frizzy. Why would I let her cut my hair dry? I don't know what her scissors are, just like her blow dryer. Crummy. I don't know then some lady followed me out to my car and said they were going to call the police on me. If I showed up again. Why would I show up again when you guys are so mean and aggressive and you bully your clients into thinking they don't know what they want and then when they State what they want, you don't even listen at all. The haircut that I got in the end the first time was satisfactory but it had its issues. I would definitely not recommend this salon just on the fact of their customer service really sucks. It's really really bad. I have been getting my haircut for 50 years at salons that I have not one single time had any problem at all with anybody cutting my hair. Lovely salon with the kindest front desk receptionist who always is so cheerful and delighted to see me - not sure how he does it, but he's the BEST and it's so important to have a friendly face at the FRONT of the house. Shayla was my hairperson and I adore her - but she is gone, recommended a couple others so I am reviewing my love for Shayla here, but I plan to stay with SDS because they are just all so sweet and engaging. I also wanted some help installing my tape ins and no one wanted to help. Megan is such a phenomenal colorist. She is incredibly thorough and really listens to--and delivers on--the little details that can either make or break your salon experience. I am neurotic about having very thin high and low lights woven throughout my hair for dimension and she nails it every time. Jenny is a hair wizard. I have wavy hair that a lot of people have gotten wrong and she always gets very right. She's good at interpreting the vague instructions I usually come to a haircut with, and has also recommended new styles that have come out great (shaggier mops, blunt bobs, ombre dyes). I think some hair stylists feel pressure to play the bubbly confidante, and I appreciate Jenny's very down to earth demeanor. The salon does free coffee, airy ambiance, scalp massage, etc - and I would normally skip the amenities (as much as I enjoy them) for a cheaper cut. But I've looked elsewhere, and I always end up coming back. There's a fun taco shop across the street, which is always a nice way to round out the outing. read more

I have I have been coming this salon for the past 6 years and when I went in for my last app, which was 1/1/19 I was scheduled with a new girl since my stylist left. My roots had grown out after a year of no maintenance but was still very blonde. I showed the new stylist a photo of what I wanted my hair to look like and she stated she could make that happen. After almost 7 hours later I left with grey hair. I voiced my surprise as what she gave me did not resemble the photo I provided her. I was rescheduled for another appointment a week later to get me the color I requested. I spent another 6-7 hours during the second appointment and she gave me brassy hair. Upon expressing my frustration to my new stylist she replied with "well I can't give you the color you want in one sitting." I replied to her stating during the initial consultation that was something she should have communicated with me and that would have saved me wasted time and now YELLOW/BRASSY hair. I would have preferred my grey hair over yellow hair any day! So I asked the receptionist to have the owner call me because I was extremely upset and disappointed. I provided her a day and time to have Kandy call me so I could make myself available to talk to her. Kandy did not call me on the day/time I requested and instead called me when I was at the grocery store and wasn't really in a position to talk but because I had been waiting on her call, I made the exception. Throughout the conversation Kandy acknowledged that my new stylist should have communicated to me that my hair was not going to look the way I wanted it to look and that it would be a process-which I completely understand, however she stated regardless if the stylist had completed the consultation as she was supposed to she stated "your hair would still look the exact same whether she told you in the initial consultation or not." I was completely shocked by her response not only because it was totally untrue but also because it demonstrated Kandy's apathetic behavior towards a client who had been a loyal to her salon over 6 years. I couldn't continue to argue with Kandy any longer as I said previously that I was preoccupied at the grocery store. But the reason why I will NEVER come back to this salon is because of KANDY, her lack of professionalism, and her inability to take responsibility for the actions of her stylists. I completely 100% dispute her claims that my hair would look the same regardless because my hair was grey after the first round and then after the second round of color, I had YELLOW HAIR. If the stylist communicated the way she was supposed to I wouldn't of had to come back again to sit in a hair for another 6-7 hours to get a color worse than what I already was given. If Kandy took ownership of the mistake her stylist made, attempted to remedy to situation, and my overall state of unhappiness with her salon I would totally have come back to the salon. However, since she scapegoated the entire situation, was rude, and argumentative I will not be coming back to this salon nor would I recommend it to any of my friends, family or colleagues. read more

I tried several times to get a pricing but their attitude was terrible so I decided not ever go back again. The person who answered the phone didn't sound like want to help me at all. She sounded like just want to finish the conversation and in a hurry for something else. I had the best experience at Snapdragon with Shayla Starks! I have curly hair & have been without a stylist for a few years. The salon is in my neighborhood and my daughter was getting married so I decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad I did! I got balayage to lighten up my hair and give it some dimension. That turned out amazing & the color was exactly what I wanted... BUT the greatest part of this whole experience was that I figured out the reason why my hair is so frizzy and didn't want to hold curl properly was because I was putting in my product wrong! When I walked in I was greeted my the receptionist and offered water. My session with Shayla lasted around 3 1/2 hours. She took the time to explain to me the process. It's so hard to find someone who understands my mop because it's naturally curly but I straighten it and put larger curls in there. If I leave it naturally curly, I look like a homegirl.
