So everyone, my husband heard about this place called SMP Mini Mart that sells Philly cheesesteaks, so of course we had to check it out! We ordered the Garlic Pepperoni Pizza Steak and the "Didn't Suck" cheesesteak, and let me tell you--they definitely lived up to the hype. Both sandwiches were packed with flavor, cheesy, and absolutely hit the spot. I won't lie, these sandwiches are definitely shareable...unless you're really hungry! They also offer breakfast sandwiches, homemade cutlets, and hoagies, which means we'll definitely be making another trip back to try more of their menu. Amazing in every way. I can hardly describe how great it is. First off, I was concerned it might be a bit sketchy because it is a mini-mart. Nothing could be further from the truth. It was very clean and had a decent amount of seating for a small place. They are opening a full-size restaurant across the street, which will be much better but it was fine. As all others recommend, calling ahead is a time-saver but we got ours in less than 20 minutes from our call so not so bad anyway. So, now to the main event. We got the "Didn't Suck" and it was true to its name. It is big enough for at least two people and I would say we could have even split it three ways for "normal" people. I am not a cheesesteak aficionado by any means but this sandwich was the most delicious thing I have eaten of any kind in a very long time. Unbelievably wonderful. We got the seeded bread which was good but maybe took away from the meat mix so probably would just get a plain roll next time. The meat was flavorful, the onions were well cooked and tender and the cooper cheese was great. I cannot find a single thing to pick at. We also got the onion rings which were big and hearty. The onions were sliced fairly thick but they managed to cook all the way through without burning the batter, which was a beer/tempura kind of thing. Really, really great. The ranch sauce was a bit dilly for me but will try the boom-boom sauce next time. The other sandwiches look great too but I will struggle not getting the 'Didn't Suck' because it is so amazing. As an added bonus, they have a variety of Prairie City Ooey Gooey cakes. Like 9 types. If you haven't had them before, they are incredible. Very rich, buttery cakes. I had no idea they had that many varieties. Just an added bonus. And the price was very, very cheap given the amount of food you get. It is 45 minutes away from my house but I won't hesitate to make a special trip to go here. It is that good. read more

SMP Mini Mart, I was unfamiliar with your game. Great cheesesteaks in a simple NYC bodega-like setting. Employees were nice and offered recommendations. Only complaint is that I ordered a side of cherry peppers, but they come whole so not really conducive to adding to a sandwich. Not a big deal, but I'll probably skip them next time. Their "Doesn't Suck" was great, one of the most authentic Philly cheesesteaks I've had in the LV, but it does come at a slightly steep $17. The "It Didn't Suck" cheesesteak from SMP Mini Mart was an absolute ACE. $16 for this 12" sandwich some people may sneeze at, but it's loaded and executed tremendously. I enjoyed every single bite. Cherry Peppers on the side for $1, sadly forgotten. The cherry peppers would have been an over the top experience with this decadently rich cheesesteak. The roll held up throughout and due to the Fine Sandwich construction there was minimal shrapnel in the beard. We tried this because my son saw it on Tik tok. We were visiting in town and decided on this place. I'm glad we did. The store itself is just a little store just regular ambiance like a mini mart. SMP mini mart is a place I've been going for about a year now and I have tried quite a few things on the menu. I first went to try their cheesesteak a year plus ago and it was very good, but they are consistently trying to up their game here so the cheesesteak now is so much better than it even was then. They have added the seeded corropolese roll (which I love), they carry cooper sharp which is my favorite cheese for a cheesesteak, and they use a quality ribeye product. The owners Chade and Nancy are also extremely nice and helpful people. At least one of them is in the store nearly always showing their dedication and love for this place. Every time I go here I leave feeling like family. They have also been consistently upgrading the interior of the spot recently adding a full hood system to put in a large flattop grill and fryers. They have some limited seating and they offer a wide array of drinks and other snack options. I mean, you can even play your lotto while you're here haha Cheesesteaks, chopped cheese, boom boom nachos, the big Matt cheesesteak (like a Big Mac but not processed garbage), boom boom egg rolls...the list goes on and on. Apparently it's acceptable to be put on hold while I listen to the check out guy who can't keep up with orders at check out it was exactly 11 min. Unacceptable and understaffed I live in caddy and neighbors say same thing. And getting worse. So much for a good sandwich. I will not return. Food for thought. If your in any kind of time frame. Kind of "out of the way" but well worth finding! It's a very eclectic sort of mini mart. You can buy "scratch-offs", car air fresheners, luggage AND really good sandwiches! We had their cheesesteaks (on the recommendation of family) and they were delicious! You can get them with sauce or without. We did with sauce, next time we'll do without sauce. The service is great. There are probably more people behind the counter than are needed, but they're all friendly and I'm sure they were planning for a lunchtime rush! There are 3 or 4 tables inside and all were packed! They make pizza too! Great place to people watch too! All-in-all, a really good, in the neighborhood, place for lunch or dinner. They need to get a bigger sign. Get rid of all the tobacco products and half the other crap they sell. They should change their name to Bob's Sandwich Shop (or something catchy and sophisticated like that...since Charlie's is right down the street, and everyone knows and loves what Charlie sells!) other than that, they're good-to-go! This is by far the best cheese steak my father (age 67-grew up in Philly) and I (29- did undergrad and masters in Philly) have ever had. He messaged all of his work friends about this place, as did I. You cannot find another cheesesteak in the valley with the amount of meat and flavor that these had. Ive worked over 12 years in the service and bar industry, I've never seen a sandwich of this magnitude. And the price point is even more mind blowing. You can't beat this. I have a problem with always customizing everything I order and it drives my family nuts but anytime I call SMP they have no problem doing whatever I ask and they are so nice about it. But I have to say the cheesesteaks are the best cheesesteaks I have ever had in my life. I'm a fan of a quality traditional cheesesteak. I ordered 2 - one chicken and one beef & it fed me for FIVE meals! Here are my thoughts: 1. I ordered with cooper and wiz, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but it was overkill on the cheese. When I order again, I'll just do cooper. 2. Meats were tender & well seasoned 3. Seeded roll is a MUST 4. Onions were cooked perfectly and a great size (I don't like them to be too large) Overall, I spent $40 on uber eats, but given the size and factoring the app markup, I believe they were worth it.
