The good news first...this is the best BBQ in this area of Henderson. Super high quality meat, great flavor, not the best BBQ I have had but it's pretty dern good. The standout is the banana pudding which is INCREDIBLE!!!! The bad? The PRICE!!! I paid almost $40 bucks (with tip) for 1/4 pound of brisket, 1/4 pound of pulled pork, two rib bones, baked beans and a bread pudding. I thought it would have been a lot of food,The baked beans were also quite bland, probably the worst I have had at a BBQ place but they're edible. They're just not good... The worst part?! I asked if they had a meat combo and they answered immediately and said "no" like they were annoyed...if that many people ask, maybe offer it?! I think it's a way to hide the cost...the size of this plate is a normal "three meat combo" that I would pay $25-$30 at most BBQ places, that would usually come with two sides. read more

It's not all smoke and mirrors, but it's maybe a bit overrated on Yelp. Smokeshow BBQ is maybe the 3rd name at least that has appeared on this musical chairs of a business on an otherwise nondescript stretch of Gibson Rd in Henderson. My friend was nice enough to pick up a sampler of sorts, although all items are priced a la carte here (no combos, oddly), and bring it over to my place for us to divvy up. Brisket ($9 for 1/4 lb): specifically, the sliced brisket which barbecue enthusiasts tend to prioritize. Moderate smoke and pulls apart well. Decent on its own and better with both the regular BBQ sauce or the mango habanero. The BBQ sauce is a little sweet and a little tangy, while the mango habanero is very fruit-forward and saves the medium spicy kick for a few seconds later. Pork Belly ($7.50 for 1/4 lb): decent smoke and not too much fat, but also much less tender than you'd hope for, even resisting metal forks when it cools to room temp. Pulled Pork ($6.50 for 1/4 lb): not amazing, but certainly tender and not dry. A better choice than the pork belly if you have to pick one. Very reminiscent of the smoke on the brisket, so they probably really only have one wood and one smoker. Wings ($10 for 5 wings): a bit rubbery and whatever. Really needed the BBQ sauces to help. Mashed potatoes ($5 small): the typical American puree rather than a buttery French recipe or a chunky take, but with an interesting meat gravy that adds enough richness to make it interesting. Coleslaw ($5 small): creamy style slaw, but much more watery than I was hoping for. Absolutely vital for adding freshness to all of the above items though. Banana Pudding ($6.50): a stunning conclusion with creamy pudding, intense banana, and rich crumbled vanilla wafers. I remember trying a banana pudding specialty shop that wasn't this awesome. They did run out of both sausage and ribs by the relatively later time of day on this Sunday. That's too bad because I know my friend always tries the sausage at BBQ joints and I like to try ribs. Smokeshow is a great banana pudding spot where you can find some solid opening acts as well. We were in the neighborhood and decided to try this BBQ spot. We already have a favorite place a little farther away, so we weren't necessarily looking for a replacement, just something new to try. The restaurant itself is very clean, which makes sense since we learned they've only been open for about six months. Even the bathroom was a pleasant surprise. We were greeted by the two gentlemen working behind the counter, and the setup lets you watch the food being prepared, similar to Chipotle or Jersey Mike's. We decided to sample a good portion of the menu: ribs, a brisket sandwich, banana pudding, a cornbread muffin, collard greens, potato salad, homemade lemonade, and French fries. I'm not sure what we were expecting, but we were completely blown away. Everything was delicious, but the collard greens absolutely stole the show. My husband stopped by Smoke Show BBQ on his way home from work after we had seen photos and heard great things about their beef ribs and brisket. We were excited to finally give them a try. Unfortunately, by the time he arrived, they were sold out of brisket, but they did have one beef rib left, so he grabbed that. He also ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a quarter pound of burnt ends. They seriously hooked us up! They gave us extra burnt ends and even threw in a sausage for free.
