I've been here twice: first, when I needed to renew my registration (needed a smog test) and 2nd when I was transferring the car I was using to my name (it was under my aunt's). Both of my visits were fast and efficient. I'm writing only now because I want everyone to know how amazing and fast their service is. Here's the story: The first time I went here (October 2016) while they were doing a smog on my 1995 Corolla, I saw that they were offering some DMV services like registration renewal, title transfer, and the likes. I thought to myself, ok, this is interesting to know and remembered it at the back of my head. Fast forward six months, my aunt kept on nagging me to transfer the title to my name because she needed a scholarship for my cousin and she can't have three vehicles under her name. So I procrastinated and took care of it last minute. I went to two DMV offices (Culver and Van Nuys) and saw that both were packed. Not being able to schedule an appointment, I told myself that it's either I'm going to fall in line and wait 3 hours just to take care of this or find an alternative. Then, I remembered Smog Zone's DMV services and decided to give it a try. Paying for a little more to save time is what I wanted because I want to use my time wisely (by playing video games). When I arrived there, Haik helped me out and explained to me how fast things were going to get done (vs. DMV). I was impressed because I was always skeptical of going to third party services when you can go to DMV directly. Haik proved me wrong. He was very helpful and told me that they offered these services to help everyone avoid the hassle of queueing long lines at the DMV. The next time I need something taken care of, this is the place I would go to. You get every bang out of your buck. I was in a rush to get a smog check and several of the locations I had looked up on yelp turned out to be closed or unavailable upon arrival. I was very pleased to find out that this location was open and available. A staff member answer the phone promptly when I called to figure out if they were available. They were able to get me in and out with the smog test certificate in under 15 minutes. This has been my second time here at Smog Zone. Unfortunately, I didn't pass my smog test this time but Haik the owner was very friendly and informative about what I needed to do to pass the test. The shop was clean and the test was done in a matter of minutes. Went here today to get my smog check , found it on yelp and liked that it was local and got positive ratings . The service was excellent; my smog check was completed very quickly because it passed on the first time . The person who helped me gave me a discount (due to Yelp and google) , which I appreciated . He even took the extra time to put air in my tires after I asked him if any of the neighboring auto mechanics had an air machine . The owner of super friendly and very fast. He's had the same shop for 19 years. It literally took three minutes for him to smog my car. It was the fastest smog check I've ever had in my entire life. Plus he is certified with the DMV and got me my registration and sticker on the spot for only 30 bucks! The only negative thing I have to say is that there is no AC or fan in the waiting area and it is the middle of summer. But that is very minor compared to the wonderful experience I had. read more

Who likes getting their car smogged? Probably no one, but it's something most car owners have to do at least every other year. So finding a good smog check service provider is not always easy since we so seldom need their service. My turn came up this year and I yelped and found the Smog Zone which was a godsend. Living in the Valley there are hundreds of auto shops around town but it's not until you actually need one does it become hard to actually find one that's nearby, easy to get too and not so busy they can get you in and out in a matter of minutes. I ventured down Oxnard Street across Sepulveda and Van Nuys driving by a few places that were either closed or seem too shady for my taste. I was elated when I came up on Smog Zone and found a parking spot to wait out my turn. Service was great, competitive and friendly. Not much to say about this business other than the owner is cool, the place is easy to find and get into and passed my 2000 VW Jetta with flying colors. For those of us who aren't familiar with cars...and car-related "stuffs," I recommend smog zone for quick and professional service. My vehicle has just reached the age where smog checks are a rite of passage. Came here around 2:00pm. There was one car before me, but the wait was not long, about 10 minutes. After my car was started, it took only about 15mins and I received my certificate and was ready to go! There is a waiting area that keeps you cool while waiting. The smog check was $60, and $45 with the yelp check-in discount. Haik is the owner, and the person who helped me. Apparently, Haik has been in the business of smog checks for over 10 years, and he started this business on his own...I could sense the ownership and pride he had for his shop.
