I was in a rush to get a smog check and several of the locations I had looked up on yelp turned out to be closed or unavailable upon arrival. I was very pleased to find out that this location was open and available. A staff member answer the phone promptly when I called to figure out if they were available. They were able to get me in and out with the smog test certificate in under 15 minutes. I definitely recommend this location if you want somewhere that you feel you can trust but also get in and out of very quickly read more

I came for a walk-in Smog Test and Zack took care of several cars in front of me & got me taken care of in around 30 minutes. I'll be coming back for my next Smog for sure. read more

This has been my second time here at Smog Zone. Unfortunately, I didn't pass my smog test this time but Haik the owner was very friendly and informative about what I needed to do to pass the test. The shop was clean and the test was done in a matter of minutes. I will definitely be coming back to get a recheck and recommend anyone who has their smog check due to come here. **Update** Came back a week later after taking Haiks advice on what I needed to do to pass smog. I passed! The man has over 15 years of experience and cares about how well of a job he does. I'll be back in 2 years. read more

Not that they need another 5-star review at this point, but here you go. I was paying bills this morning, a Saturday, and when I got to my vehicle registration I saw that I was due for a smog check. I went on Yelp, found this place a couple miles from home, printed the $10 off coupon from their website, rolled down there, and was in and out in like 5 minutes. Couldn't have been better! read more

I called five shops -- Smog Zone was the least expensive. Quick, professional, and personable. What more can you ask for? Thanks for the great service at a great price. read more

Haik was great! Fast service. Very clean shop with area to sit and wait. Highly recommended!

I've been looking for a spot to get my car smog checked for the longest time and I'm so glad I found this place! Shout out to the owner for having such a great service! I was literally there for only 5 minutes and not only that, my car passed! If you're looking for a place to get your car smog checked, this is the place to go to! Also, if you check in you'll get 15 dollars off! What a great deal. read more

These guys are great! Fast, friendly, professional! Been coming here for years, and will continue to do so!

Been to several smog stations in the Valley over the years. Never found one as efficient, clean, and most of all, helpful. Haik was personable, fast, and got me in and out in a jiffy. Finally found my go to place for the dreaded smog check! No appointment necessary as everyone else has mentioned. read more

2nd time here. Still very quick and easy. Highly recommend these guys. 3rd time here. These guys are still the best. Came through and there was no wait. In and out within 10 minutes. Makes my life so much easier. Still definitely recommend these guys. read more

Great service and quick testing. Will definitely be back in a couple of years for my next DMV test. The owner was super friendly and very knowledgeable. read more

So I just did my first smog test today. I had a little trouble finding this place because the whole block either fixed/tested/sold cars. Be sure to call first! He was still finishing up a car but told me to come when I could. I was quoted $50 ($10 off) and he promised to finish in 15 minutes. He finished it in leSs! Yay! He was very cordial, friendly, and quick. He did ask how I found this place and I told him through Yelp. He also requested that I write a review if my experience there was great. And it was. So if you're looking for a decent price and a quick through job then this is the place to go. read more

I've been going to Smog Zone for years. I've recommended this place to many people. Brent was exceptionally helpful to me today. Friendly, polite and great customer service. He took care of everything and answered all my questions. Thanks guys! See you next time. read more

Went here today to get my smog check , found it on yelp and liked that it was local and got positive ratings . The service was excellent; my smog check was completed very quickly because it passed on the first time . The person who helped me gave me a discount (due to Yelp and google) , which I appreciated . He even took the extra time to put air in my tires after I asked him if any of the neighboring auto mechanics had an air machine . Oh and he showed me a quick fix to a problem I was having with the door to my fuel tank. Doesn't get much better, thanks smog zone! read more

This is the best of the best smog check that I've ever experienced! Yelp did have today's (Tuesday) hours incorrect. It said on my so-called smartphone that they opened at 8:30. I pulled up at 8:15 and they were open. First of all, the shop is very clean. Secondly the staff is welcoming and friendly. I don't use the term "welcoming" lightly. He greeted me and explained how many people were in front of me, and that "It won't take long." I thought to myself, "Yeah right, they all say that." But it actually was fast! This guy (I think it was the owner) was efficient, and worked like a well-oiled machine. I was also happy that there was a check-in discount (for all you non-yelp-app folks, that's something you can use at various businesses with your mobile device). Even if I hadn't passed, I wouldn't give this place a bad review. It's not the smog check shop's fault if your car is modified or has poor emissions. There was also ample parking in the lot. My search for the best smog shop has ended with my discovery of "Smog Zone." In the infamous words of Arnold, "I'll be back." read more

Great service and very honest! I used this smog shop back in December and my car failed do to some minor issues. After all the headache of getting my car fixed I finally came back today and I was taken care of with the same great service as the first time around. The service tech even offered to check my cars computer system before he preformed the smog test on my car just to make sure it'll pass so I don't waste any of my money doing another smog. Good news my car passed and I'm back on the road. lol If recommend this shop to anyone! read more

For those of us who aren't familiar with cars...and car-related "stuffs," I recommend smog zone for quick and professional service. My vehicle has just reached the age where smog checks are a rite of passage. Came here around 2:00pm. There was one car before me, but the wait was not long, about 10 minutes. After my car was started, it took only about 15mins and I received my certificate and was ready to go! There is a waiting area that keeps you cool while waiting. The smog check was $60, and $45 with the yelp check-in discount. Haik is the owner, and the person who helped me. Apparently, Haik has been in the business of smog checks for over 10 years, and he started this business on his own...I could sense the ownership and pride he had for his shop. Good businesses with owners who take pride in their work need to be supported! Haik was very courteous and made this required process smooth and painless! read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE! I took my truck there and the technician saw I had a check engine light on and still proceeded to do my test. Afterwards he told me I failed my heart and I was obligated to pay. I told him why? And he stated the computer couldn't tell me the code. I asked him if I fixed the issue if I can bring my truck back for a re test. Not only did he tell me he won't do it for free but I only had 10 days to bring it back. TERRIBLE SERVICE, THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY OR TAKE IT TO AN HONEST PLACE. read more

The place was fast and the guy was very friendly, but unfortunately something went wrong with his equipment. Although my car was passing the emissions check numbers, it was putting up a communications failure when connecting to my car's computer (the OBD check). The guy told me that I would have to get the connector repaired most likely. I drove down the street to Pep Boys and had them connect their OBD code checkers to my car, and it worked fine. Ran the smog test there, and everything was okay. I don't know who's at fault here, especially since he did seem to try the connector at least a few times. Probably just some snag in his equipment, but I did wind up overpaying like $40 (for the failed test here) today for what appears to be nothing so I'm a bit annoyed. Everyone else seems to have had a great experience here, which is why I'm so confused. read more

I'm one, like many others who dread getting the "SMOG certification required" upon receiving your DMV registration renewal. I've been there and done that with my past cars and today was the day I have to do it with my new car, which I have owned for a good 6 years now (Black 2007 Honda Element SC). Finding the time to get the test done, especially when registration is due in 2 weeks can be somewhat stressful... So I used the mighty resources of Yelp to help me fund a test center close by work (that way I can spend my lunch hour to get it done and over with, until next time...). Enter, Smog Zone... Literally 10 mins away from my work, so that's a plus... I figured to give Smog Zone a chance based off the great reviews they've received... Fast and friendly service is always a plus... No appointment needed, but call ahead of time to check the wait time (I didn't call, and took my chances seeing what the wait time was)... Haik is a pro, and what's cool, he was telling me his story of how he used to have a Honda Element AWD and did the camping stuff... It's cool to connect with someone who has had a great experience with such a versatile car... He worked his magic and I was out in about 15 minutes or so. He's very friendly and cool, and knows what he's doing. You can count on him to get the smog test done. I;m glad to see that this place lives up to the praise and reviews... Give Smog Zone a try if you have to get your SMOG Certification. Their site has a printable coupon, or you can claim a discount if you check-in on Yelp. Thanks, Haik, for taking care of my ride! read more

You drive in, looking around like a confused deer because it's just a lot with lots of cars and three businesses operating out of the same 200 sq. ft. area. Finally, someone approaches your vehicle, tells you to double park your car, give another stranger your keys, and wait and indeterminate amount of time. ^^^ All this happened to me, only to be told my car would fail... not because anything is wrong with the car, but because it is "not ready." Basically, I just had $1200 of work done on my car to fix everything wrong with it, but I need to drive it "50-100 more miles" before an assessment can actually be made. I paid $40 for this miserable experience. Thanks, Smog Zone! I'll be sure to drive those 50-100 miles far away from your establishment for my next check! read more

I was dreading having to spend my day waiting for my car to get a simple smog check so I can get my new registration - BUT, to my surprise, all I spent was 20 short minutes and these guys had me taken care of and on my way! Best experience I've ever had getting my car smogged - the guys were super polite and genuinely knew what they were doing (and adorable if I do say so myself)! if you need a smog check this year, trust me when I say, this is the place to go! quick, polite, and yelp gets you a discounted price?! what more could I ask for! thank you guys for making my life so much easier! I really appreciate it! :) read more

Very polite, excellent service, in and out in 10-15 minutes. Highly recommend. Will definitely be coming back.

Smog Zone is a very trustworthy business. I am a 22 year old college girl who knows nothing about her vehicle except that it has great difficulties passing the smog test every other year. Though I feel out of place when I take my truck anywhere auto-related, Smog Zone always ends up being a pleasant experience. Haik is not only a lovely gentleman, he is a knowledgeable craftsman and an extremely hard worker. He runs the shop pretty much on his own and yet is still more efficient than many a slothful crew. But best of all, he has a sharp mind and engages with his customers in a way that leaves everyone feeling happier for the positive experience in their day. Call ahead and make an appointment! He's a popular dude. And bring a book to read while you wait. :) read more

Excellent place. It was my first time to do smog check and the guys were really kind and quick. I will go back for sure whenever I need. read more

The owner of super friendly and very fast. He's had the same shop for 19 years. It literally took three minutes for him to smog my car. It was the fastest smog check I've ever had in my entire life. Plus he is certified with the DMV and got me my registration and sticker on the spot for only 30 bucks! The only negative thing I have to say is that there is no AC or fan in the waiting area and it is the middle of summer. But that is very minor compared to the wonderful experience I had. read more

Smog Zone - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Van Nuys, California

The dreaded DMV renewal came - smog needed for your car... Thankfully this process is painless since I found Smog Zone. I have been taking my car and now my parents car to this place for 3 years now. First and foremost they get the job done fast, they are professional and polite! The place is clean and pleasant and their price is very fair. The test is submitted electronically it's a seamless process. I usually give them a curtsey call before I come in and they get me in and out fast. Thank you guys! read more

Called ahead 15 minutes prior to arriving with no appointment or wait time. Fast and friendly service.

Haters to the left because this place is amazing. I came in on a Saturday and was taken care of as soon as I pulled in. Shout out to Brent for the great customer service! Also, make sure to check in on Yelp for a generous discount. read more

I own five cars, four are high performance, of which one is an exotic. When time came to have it smog checked, I tried different places and not one person knew where to hook up the RPM counter, and a few told me to pop the hood...well,this is a mid engine exotic. I went to the forums looking for knowledgable smog check locations, and found most people owning the same types of cars raving about Smog Zone. I drove up to Smog Zone, still a bit apprehensive. Immediately, Haig, the owner put my mind at ease when he knew precisely where the lever to release the engine compartment was. He was done within 10 mins and closed the hatch precisely the way the car manufacturer recommends. I knew I had found a life long friend and proceeded to have Smog Zone "do" my other cars. Ten+ years later, I'm still getting the service I got the first time I took my baby to Smog Zone. read more

The backstory: In August, my check engine light went on. I took it to Pinky's where Ralph told me there seemed to be nothing wrong with the car, it was probably a misfire. But to actually diagnose it and repair it, it could get costly. Knowing I hope to get a new car ASAP, he said it's perfectly safe to drive and I should just wait. Now it's January, I'm due for a smog check, and that pesky engine light caused me to fail my first inspection. The owner at Smog Zone went over the numbers with me an said that while they're fine, it's still failing, likely because of the engine light. He suggested I get it reset, drive the car around for 30 miles or so to make sure it doesn't come back, then return for another test. I did just that and soon passed with flying colors! The reset tip probably saved me aprox. $500 in repair work and a lot of frustration. read more

Excellent work. In and out quick no hassle good service. Definitely gonna come back for my next smog check!

This place is amazing. Haik actually called me back a couple of minutes after missing my call right before they opened. There is no business that I know that calls back after missing your call. But anyways, I was second in line and he told me that it'll only be a 15 minute wait. I came in a little after they opened, thank god it was not busy. When it got to my car, it literally took roughly around 15 minutes to finish up the test and best of all, I was able to get a discount for mentioning Yelp and showing him the coupon off their site. I really liked how fast and easy this smog check was for me. If you are in the area and in need of a smog check, I definitely recommend this place for it. read more

They have a yelp discount for 15 bucks off, as well as on other places online. I went on a Saturday morning and they were really fast. There was only one car ahead of mine and I was done in about 20 minutes and on my way. Friendly and down to earth. And my car passed, so that probably helped my experience. I'm giving a 4 though because the waiting area was in the same room as they do the test, and so that was a little weird, but not that big a deal it was well ventilated. read more

This was my first time at the Smog Zone and all I can say is that it won't be the last one either! The guys were extremely polite and friendly and I was in and out for a smog check in maybe 5 minutes!!! I know, amazing right?! I did get lucky that when I arrived there was no line. It was right before lunch time and then more costumes started showing up. The price was reasonable and I used a yelp voucher for $15 as well. I had an amazing experience and I would recommend them to my friends and family. Special thanks to Haik (I hope I spelled his name right :) ) for being extra friendly! read more

My husband chose this place because of all of the great review. It was a little intimidating at first with all the cars park, but Hike, the owner, came out and made it super easy to get my car smog. There was no one else in line and it only took a few minutes. It's not a little longer than he had expected because the state program for small game of whatever kept going down throughout the day. We apologize for the inconvenience, but it was no inconvenience at all! Very helpful, very kind. Made this experience painless and easy! Definitely would come back again read more

Clean shop. Great attitude and service. Family run business. Even if they're crowded, you'll be done quickly. That about sums it up, I've been taking my vehicles to these guys for a while now and I'm always leaving happy without spending my whole day on a emissions inspection. read more

Super fast and friendly service! The $15 off yelp special helped alot! Now I can finally finish the lame task of registering my out of state car! There is a small seating area on the side of the testing area as well as seating outside. The technician was friendly, courteous, and fast! read more

Smog Zone - My car is happy. - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Van Nuys, California

I called early since I didn't have my paperwork. The person on the phone was not only friendly but also assured me he would be able to get me seen quick since there was only one car ahead of me. When I arrived I was greeted promptly and before I knew it my car was on the ramp ready to be tested. I sat down for about 4 min.'s and before I knew it the owner was finalizing my paperwork, and handing me my DMV certification. The ratings to this place is what got me to visit them, the service I received from Haik is what will have me coming back. Fast, friendly, and professional! I recommend this place for anyone looking for secure legitimate place to get your smog check. read more

Ah, yes. The dreaded letter from the DMV indicating that you have to pay your registration fee AND get your car smog-checked. Oh, the joy! If you're faced with this painful reality, take your sad self over to Smog Zone! You will get in, out, and be treated with kindness and dignity (and don't forget about their $15-off Yelp coupon, like I did!). They have a small, waiting area for you, both inside and outside (yes, they even have a patio), where you can sit in peace and in clean. For an auto shop-related business, this place is actually very well-kept, mindful, pleasant (for the very little amount of time that you will have to spend there), and not at all sketchy or creepy. FYI, their business is right where you drive in, to the right, and not in the back. They share the lot with other car-related what-have-you. Just park wherever, and do your thing. Haik and Sam certainly went above and beyond for me and my disgruntled Scion, which failed its smog test, at first. I had suspected that it would. I had my reasons. But these Smog Zone pros turned my frown upside down--more like they kept me from taking an Ativan--and everything turned out just fine, in the end. They even gave me a discount, after I had forgotten about the Yelp coupon. As they say, all's well that ends well. And if I get another ugh-not-another-smog-check letter, and I'm still living in the Valley, I will be at Smog Zone stat! read more
