I needed a Smog check from a STAR station and chose based on the reviews here. I called ahead and the gentleman who answered was very helpful. I came in around lunch time on a Monday and was assisted immediately, he even recognized my voice from my call earlier. I waited maybe 15 min max as he assisted two other customers but he constantly checked in with me on timing which I appreciated. The process was smooth and efficient. Highly recommend! read more

Fast, easy, and no wait. Haik runs a very clean and professional shop. Every other 5-star review is right, this guy and his service is a class act. The shop has a tv setup to watch some World Cup action, but the smog check was so quick it was unnecessary. In and out in 7 minutes - amazing! read more

Just finished getting both my truck and my wife's 4 runner tested here. Gotta say it was one of the best smog experiences I have ever had in LA. Incredibly fast and courteous service. Clean, nice waiting area. Haik the owner ...and his guy Sam had us in and out in no time flat. Heard him explaining to the previous customer why he failed... and Haik definitely knows his stuff. Explained everything in detail and calmly tried to help save this guy some money by telling him exactly what to do to get his 350,000 mile Toyota fixed. Not many guys would do that. HIGHLY RECOMMMENDED! read more

Great place to do a smog check, i did it on a friday and was in and out. Haik was kind and generous and took care of me right away. I'm definitely going to have all my cars smog checked here all the time. read more

I only wish I could give this place no stars. Brent, the foul mouth loadie here is not worth the trouble. Everytime I've gone here it's been something illegit. UPDATE: UPDATE: UPDATE: After reading all of these glowing reviews,I decided to call the manager Haik and tell him how rude and nasty Brent, his assistant, was to me during my cars inspection and I'm really glad I did. Haik read my cars test results and told me that I failed because I had had a dead battery and therefore needed to reset the computer in my car by driving it on a long trip of at least 35 to 50 miles. I never failed a smog test before and I think this is a ridiculous scam by the state to get more money out of California drivers for registration. I already paid $51.75 and was never offered a coupon of any sort, for this "star station" smog test failure and now I had to waste my time, money and gasoline creating even more smog just to pass this "smog" test. Senseless! Anyway, I drove it 40 miles(no easy feat) and then had it retested by Haik and it passed. I had to pay another fee for the retest but it only took 15 minutes. Haik really went out of his way to be kind and make up for the terrible experience I had with his nasty assistant Brent and I really appreciate that. Since I get a DMV smog test requirement every two years it's good to have a professional shop to go to. read more

If you have a car, 1999 and older, be sure to get ready to haggle for a good price. The manager started with a $75 price for the smog check. He said older cars are charged way higher price because they have to do a lot to check the car. Maybe he meant that they have to check the regular way as oppose to just checking the computer of the newer models (which is far easier and quicker). Anyway, since I was pressed for time, I was able to bring down the price to $50 for the smog check and get on with it. And my car failed the smog check and I was out $50 less certificate cost. So beware. Just a fair warning. Even though lower prices are printed on the wall (behind your head when you enter the office), if you have a car 1999 and older, be ready to haggle. Call first so you don't waste your time. read more

Who likes getting their car smogged? Probably no one, but it's something most car owners have to do at least every other year. So finding a good smog check service provider is not always easy since we so seldom need their service. My turn came up this year and I yelped and found the Smog Zone which was a godsend. Living in the Valley there are hundreds of auto shops around town but it's not until you actually need one does it become hard to actually find one that's nearby, easy to get too and not so busy they can get you in and out in a matter of minutes. I ventured down Oxnard Street across Sepulveda and Van Nuys driving by a few places that were either closed or seem too shady for my taste. I was elated when I came up on Smog Zone and found a parking spot to wait out my turn. Service was great, competitive and friendly. Not much to say about this business other than the owner is cool, the place is easy to find and get into and passed my 2000 VW Jetta with flying colors. Check them out if it's your turn to have your car smog checked. Two Hoots! Hoot Hoot! read more

Fastest smog test in LA! Not to mention that the customer service is personable and there's a nice waiting room (although you'll never see more than 1 person sitting in there because the service is so fast). Definitely will be coming back. read more

Reviews are spot on. Service is wonderful and professional. The people here are so service driven. I arrived without any appointment at 845a and was done by 905a and had my actual registration and tag in my hand as I left. Highest recommendations!!! read more

Smog Zone was great! The owner told me the wait time and was right on with how fast he could do the test. There were three cars ahead of me and I still made it out of there in under an hour. He was super nice and did a great job. PASSED. They are moving across the street in a couple months so make sure to get the NEW LOCATION: 14146 OXNARD ST. VAN NUYS CA 91401. I'm coming back here every time. read more

Very friendly and fast! Great experience, I've never had a smog inspection prior to this. I recently moved to California and wasn't sure what to expect. Everyone here is very nice, my car passed so that's an added bonus. In an earlier Yelp review I saw someone say it was difficult to figure out where to go exactly. I had no issue, there's a giant sign and as soon as I pulled up Haik was ready to take care of me. I'll definitely be back! read more

I went to go get my smog check, as I had just moved here from Oregon. I was looking around the Sherman Oaks area for a decent smog check place, and saw some places that I didn't really like. Enter: Haik and Smog Zone. Being new to this town, he oriented me in terms of auto work that I had to get done, got me some referrals, treated me really nice, was professional and very friendly. I usually don't write a lot of reviews, but he's the best at what he does. Professional, friendly, and great speedy service. If you need to get your smog checked, this is the place to go. Haik is the man. read more

Haik and his guy are the best. No just because they do the job right, they are both professional for handling things. There was a lady that didn't want to pay the State $8.25 fee and she was going crazy. They handle it like gentlemen while the "lady" was yelling at them. Good job guys. Check these guys out, clean facility and very professional. read more

In recent recollection, I've only had to do one smog check and I had it done here. Lord knows how long it should take, how expensive it should be, or what kind of hassles one should expect. But at Smog Zone, the answers are: fast, cheap, no nonsense. It may even have been a mistake for me to have dropped my car off, as it only took about 20 minutes to complete. The smog report was uploaded electronically to DMV and I was able to complete my vehicle registration electronically that day, no problemo. read more

I needed a smog test done asap. Since DMV was pressuring me. I went yelping and found Smog Zone. Based on their Reviews I decided to go. They were open at 8:30am so I figured to go early. Well I was in at 8:45a and out by 9:05a. Went all pretty quick and Thank God, I pass or my car for that matter. Haik and Brent are super nice and costumer service it 2 thumbs up. They are really taking care of you. Keep up the good work and I will come again if I need another smog check. So people go and check this place out. read more

Literally, the best smog check experience I've had. Haik is awesome. He's super friendly and will definitely help you out. He does everything he can to help you pass right away, and I'll definitely be seeing him next year when I have to renew my registration if I need a smog check. He's been there for 11 years, and as far as I can tell from the reviews he's getting that he'll be there for another 11! P.S. -- for you AAA customers, he sends the info straight to AAA & he's approved by them, so THIS is the place you want to go. read more

Haik is one of the hardest working guys around. No nonsense, easy to talk to and does a great job. Ive been going to him for awhile, today he showed me his new place that he is about to move in to (don't worry, its right across the street), loads of parking, indoor and outdoor waiting areas. After all those years in the current location, it will be a welcomed change for this hard working guy. Thanks Haik! read more

There was one guy getting a smog check when I got there so I was told it would be 10 min. No problem. Before I know it, my car was getting checked and it was good to go. Super smooth and easy process. Exactly what I was looking for. Ended up chatting with Haik a little bit about cars. Super cool and friendly guy. I'll be recommending this spot to anyone who asks for a smog check in the valley. Thanks again, Haik! read more

I've been going to Haik for smog checks for almost 10 years now. Really professional, gets the job done quickly, and all around nice guy. A no-frills place, get in, get out! The location has moved across the street from prior location. I think that was a good move since now there is a pretty decent sized parking lot as to before there really wasn't a good place to put your car if had to wait. read more
