It's was ok. Service was great. Drinks ok. Food ok. The steak buchetta was great. The "soba" noodles were actually overcooked rice noodles and Thai flavored. Guess I should have read the description a bit more. I had the Bushido which tasted fine but was all kinds of wrong when it showed up with a fortune cookie topper. Are you kidding me? I had been to Smithy's before for dinner and loved it but brunch recently was a bad experience. Not only one, but 2 out of people found hair in their food. I had the smoked salmon and there were tons of bones and I accidentally swallowed a huge one and I almost choked. Really bummed because the food is okay but an experience like this where you thought you'd almost lose your life should not be a concern at a restaurant. Gave an extra star because our waiter was really nice about the situation and comped half our meal, but I'd rather be confident knowing my food was clean. read more

Basics: Cool casual place. Very impressive menu. The old fashioned I ordered was crafty and all, just not worth $14. Had the crab nachos, ok in theory, but not a great portion of crab. Although the taro chips were good with them. I probably would've enjoyed the chips on their own. I had the tenderloin and it was cooked perfectly. Medium rare. The dish was excellent. And served hot. Its a new restaurant and that tends to be a problem in the first few months, so here's to hoping they are improving! We ordered the steak bruschetta, calamari and the salmon dish. Highly disappointed in my second visit to Smithy. Our waiter never introduced himself and just went straight to what do you want to drink. My boyfriend had the steak and felt it was under cooked. I had the salmon and it came out completely raw in the center. I sent this back to avoid being sick and they put my partially eaten salmon back in the oven bringing it out completely over cooked and disgusting. Somehow they didn't think this was a mistake. When we asked for the check they wanted us to order dessert even though we didn't want it as that was their way of making it better. We ended up taking it home (delicious bundt cake) but they should have just taken $10 off our bill. Will not be visiting anytime soon. read more

I'm highly surprised I haven't written a review for this place considering it is literally my favorite place in Dallas right now. Not only does it have the cutest ambiance, but the staff is great (shout out to Ricky) and the food is outstanding. I normally go here for brunch and everything is always perfect. The hangover sandwich and the omelette are probably the best things I've had. You really can't go wrong with this place though. Right now, they have some great summer drinks so be sure to try those as well although I normally spring for the mimosa because they have a nice cucumber flavor that I absolutely love. I could go on and on about this place, but the moral of the story is: get your butt up and go try this place. You seriously won't regret it. read more

Favorite Dallas brunch spot hands down. I stick with my usual and get the Japanese cakes (pancakes w/ fruit) while I have had the blue crab nachos and omelette as well. Accidentally tried the cucumber pineapple mimosas and surprisingly they were very refreshing and delightful. DO NOT go here on Sundays for football. Advertised as a sports bar- but minimal TVs, and after making a reservation and making it imperative that my table be by a TV we first were not seated by one when we got there. After finally moved by a TV the sound in the whole bar was ahead of the Cowboys game so you could hear every play before it happened. When they finally figured out the TV situation then our table (me) was asked to please not cheer so loudly at a SPORTS BAR- in Dallas- while watching the DALLAS COWBOYS!! Needless to say if you want to go eat brunch quietly- sure maybe go here- but if you are wanting to watch sports- this is definitely NOT a sports bar, and they need to RE-advertise themselves because it is very misleading. I love a mimosa, but not the OJ so after a quick request our server brought us a grapefruit mimosa carafe. We had the tamales and the farmers omelet. Both were so, so good! So it was one of my coworker's birthday lunch and she suggested this place to go. My coworker has a reputation of trying all good and fancy restaurant so I'm not disappointed to come to this place for lunch. So I order the pork belly sandwich and it was so good. They use pear and the pork belly was marinated with BBQ sauce so it's the sweet and salty taste make it perfect. I also try a little bit of the hot chicken that my coworker ordered and it was better than the pork belly.
