After the Southern Farm Show in Raleigh, we stopped in on our way home. We love SCNB and usually stop at another location on the way to the beach a couple times a year. The food is consistent between all locations as well as the cleanliness and friendliness of the workers. They always offer my daughter a balloon which makes her day and saves my sanity while we eat (at all of the locations we've visited). We are always greeted quickly, served fast, and the food is always hot and delicious. The red sauce will change your life. It is so good! I prefer the tender sandwich because I like to soak up the sauce in the bread, but my husband chooses tender snack each time. You will leave no crumb behind at Smithfield's! read more

What a super friendly staff! I love stopping by Smithfield's and we usually frequent another location when we travel but we forgot something and saw this one and stopped by and it didn't disappoint! The bbq pork was great, restaurant was clean and the staff from the counter to those working in back that smiled and gave a friendly hello nod were great. I always get the chicken and bbq...it's always great. The chicken is very tasty and crispy. The bbq is the best on a bun or eaten with a fork. The slaw and hush puppies could be eaten together without the rest and you would still feel like you had a great meal. read more

Ordered the pack and went through the drive thru to pay as usual. When asking the worker am I able to get BUTTER and SAUCE FOR BBQ and hush puppies. I was greeted by a rude worker that would not even give me BUTTER OR BBQ SAUCE FOR A 50$ meal. THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO ORDER IT WHEN I ORDERED THE MEAL IN THE DRIVE THRU LINE. This is bullshit, I pay 50$ and cannot get condiments that are worth cents for this establishment. Luckily I was not there to cuss them out or speak with the manager as my wife was picking up the food. I do not recommend this location they have always been rude and customer SERVICE IS TERRIBLE. So on this occasion I had the fried chicken with french fries and Brunswick stew and a complement of hush puppies. The chicken was excellent unfortunately the french fries were cold and the Brunswick stew was lukewarm at best. I actually enjoy their Brunswick stew, as a recipe. When served hot, it can be quite delicious. The BBQ here is definitely an Eastern Carolina vinegar-based style and not to the liking of those who prefer a Western Carolina sweet or ketchup based sauce, for those of you who do I would recommend Steve's smokehouse in Graham North Carolina if you're in this area looking for BBQ. I admit it, and unabashedly so, I really like what these folks do, with both the BBQ and chicken - and we're talking fried chicken, here. There are folks (some called them purists,others call them stubborn) who swear that: you must cook the whole pig - parts don't count; that pork cooked on anything but wood is just a pork roast; that there really is no, none, nada bobbycue west of I-95; and that a CHAIN can not even produce that pork roast they hate. As is my wont and my nature, I beg to disagree. The world of NC BBQ has been changing for years now, and it will only continue, and intensify. The pork is leaner, and less melting fat during the cooking process means less flavor in the smoke that surrounds the pig, whole or various parts. The traditional hickory wood becomes more difficult and expensive to get - ask the owner of Allen & Son in Chapel Hill. The glorious mom & pop places (well, mostly pops) are falling away like flies , although I've never understood that comment - most flies hang around and annoy the heck out of you - but, I digress. We lose more ever year for a variety of reasons - age, municipal hate of smoke (wood or otherwise), sushi and tofu lovers abound, and the next generation can not figure out how to shovel coals and text at the same time. Bottom line: you can light a candle or curse the darkness; embrace the future or live in the past; wax on or wax off - well you get my drift. Sorry about my rant, but if I don't do this every once in a while, I lose curmudgeon points. This is a very good version of Eastern NC BBQ, as it exists today - with vinegar and some heat, moist and tender. The slaw is a white slaw, a little sweet, but marries well on a sandwich. The sandwich remains of good size, while other restaurants have turned their BBQ sandwich into a bread sandwich with a pork topping. The chicken is just plain good - nice crust, nice taste - the Chicken Snack (dark meat, of course) with very good fries, is plenty. They have some other stuff, but who cares. On the down side, forget the hot dog and the brunswick stew. The amazing thing is that this CHAIN (that word again) has maintained consistency at all the locations I've eaten at - and that's about half a dozen. Maybe if we're all really good, Santa will bring one to Greensboro - Raleigh has about 6 or so. read more

Gosh, this place closes at 11pm and unfortunately for the staff inside, we showed up at 10:40pm, hungry and adrenalinated after a night at Spookywoods. I had heard about Smithfield's for years but never seemed to find a way to get to one in the Triangle so bring it on baby! The menu is pretty basic at Smithfields: fried chicken, barbeque, sides and some dessert. I ordered up the chicken plate which came with slaw and potato salad. Five minutes later, they bring it out to your seat, I've got a leg, thigh and a nice pile of sides. The chicken is decent, not salty at all, a touch greasy and decently fried. Not the best I've had but fine. The potato salad was very good, sweet and creamy. Wasn't a huge fan of the slaw which was also sweeter than usual. For my first visit to Smithfield's I was pleased. Solid fried chicken and sides, and good portions for the money. Not bad for a fast food meal, thank you Smithfield's! read more

Some of the best chicken tenders I've ever had! So plump and juicy on the inside, super crispy on the outside. The pulled pork is great with both bbq and red sauce. Don't expect their bbq sauce to be that thick brown red sauce that's put on bbq wings because it's not! It's a thinner sauce that's got a nice vinegary flavor whereas the red sauce is a bit sweeter. We love Smithfield's and stop at one often while traveling. Tonight, at the Mebane store, it was very busy. We pulled up to no fewer than 10 cars in the drive thru. No problem. We love their food. We were told we had to wait an extra 10 minutes to get beans instead of potato salad. No problem. They were obliging when we asked if we could get tenders in our Tailgate Special. Very nice. But the guy at the register lowered his mask and spoke to my husband under the window barrier. A BIG NO NO! Then one of the workers came to our car, remember we're waiting for beans, with a very loose and ill fitting mask. I had to tell her to raise her mask as she was talking to my husband. A BIG NO NO!! Then we get home and no gallon of iced tea w our meal. Most importantly this store needs more training in how to properly wear masks!! OMG!! We will not visit this Smithfield's again!! read more

I'd would actually give this place 3.5 stars if I could. Having recently moved to North Carolina, I've been wanting to check out this local fast food chain restaurant. While driving on the highway we saw a sign for this place and decided on a whim to stop in for a quick lunch. We ordered the fried chicken platter (with Brunswick stew and potato salad) and the bbq platter (with fries and baked beans). Both platters came with an order of hush puppies. Overall, the food was pretty good. The chicken was tender, juicy, and fried perfectly. The bbq, or pulled pork, was also tender and went perfectly with the vinegar sauce. The bbq was more if a braised pork as opposed to a true bbq style pork. As for sides, I liked their Brunswick stew and baked beans the best, their hush puppies were tasty too. The fries were nothing special and the potato salad was way too sweet for my palate. Service was casual and friendly. Bonus points for employees stopping at our table to refill our drinks. We went in after lunch and the crowded already swept through all the tables. None of the tables were clean. There was some little lady that was running around trying to give everybody their food. So I will submit that put me off. We sat down with a meal and then everything changed. It's really really good barbecue. It is not fatty but it's very moist it's called and not chopped so you get nice chunks. Good coleslaw excellent hush packs. Will be back. read more
