    Ribs are new market price
    Hanaa K.

The prices for a rack aren't listed. Instead it says market price. Today's was $35 for a full rack. Service was good. Food was so-so. The rack was so hard and dry that we couldn't finish it. It's previously been soft and fall of the bone. Today's seemed dry and maybe cooked the day before and reheated. Either way, I would be better off going to chilis or Applebees for a consistent rack and lower price. Had not been here in years and likely not to return any time soon. It's a shame because we really liked this place.

I'm not sure where Mr. Hursey is now.... But I think it's time him and his family retires. This was the absolute WORST "bbq" I've ever had. Let me preface it but saying... I'm former military and I've had my fair share of MRE's. Those tasted better than whatever food this place makes. - The "bbq" looks and tastes like I just opened a can of dog food for my dog. But let's get this straight.. I wouldn't even feed this to my dog. - The chicken was fried and drier than my feet after a long summer on the beach. - The coleslaw on the sandwich looked and tasted like my toddler just threw up her morning snack. Let's just say.. if you're in the mood for food poisoning just stop on by here. Lastly.. it should be illegal to let them have a big a** billboard on the side of the highway luring people into this place. ‍‍ ***you've been warned***

Wonderful food and service. Did pulled pork and subbed out slaw for baked beans. Love the vinegar based sauce enough to buy a jar to head home with. The hush puppies with the honey was a great touch

Others reviews are true. BBQ meat is soggy. Green beans stems didn't get removed on some so they are tough to eat. Bbq sauce ph is too low or something, first bite burn my throat a little bit but I am good after some water and second bite. Baby back ribs looks kinda big so probably regular ribs Weird thing is that I didn't expect to serve fried chicken on my bbq dinner plate in a bbq restaurant. I thought chicken will be bbq and not fried. Skin is crispy though but chicken meat is bland. They have make enough sales to have 4-5 restaurants in town so locals like it, out of towner probably will be disappointed.

My husband and I have always been big fans of Hurseys BBQ. However, tonight I was greatly disappointed! I called in, to place a take out order. I was put on hold for over 10 minutes. Maybe this was just a bad night, but it did go over well, at all. I can only hope our next experience will be better. Tonight the, we're having Mayflower for dinner.

We really liked this place! We weren't super hungry, so we split the large BBQ plate with a side of okra. BBQ was great - I understand why some people call it mushy, but I didn't mind. Slaw wasn't my favorite. Fried okra was very good and fresh! Hush puppies and honey butter were delish. Husband loves his banana pudding.

On my way to hit all the authentic stick burning locations on the NC BBQ trail I made my way to Burlington for Hursey's and was not disappointed. Chopped plate with sides and great hushpuppies served by a Beautiful Lady it was hard for me to enjoy my food as I tracked her through the place. BBQ was well prepared with a good smoke flavor as those emanating from the tall brick chimney out front. I drained my tea several times trying to get the server back to my table for a refill and lingered for a while longer before letting things get to creepy before leaving. In short, wood pile out front, Check, Smoke in the chimney, Check, Great Slaw and Pup's, Check, Beautiful server, Check. Right texture and good portion. Ribs are beautifully cooked to perfection. Season very well. Good smoke ring on meat. I paired it with the bbq sauce which was sweet and tangy. Very good ribs. The portion was perfect. Next time I will go with one meat Va two meats since the portions are generous. Hush puppies were pretty good. I like the fact they made a center indentation to make sure they are throughly cooked. The flavor was just right not overly cooked or salty. More of a sweet batter taste. The customer service was pretty good. Really fast service and they move that line pretty quickly. Over all it's a good choice for Carolina BBQ. I will definitely come again and try something new next time around.

I'll preface my review by saying I really tried to not compare this to other extremely prominent smokehouses in other states like Texas, for example (Terry Black's), but admittedly I did a little of that. So with that being said, on its own without comparison I give it a 5/5, when compared with TB's, 4/5. Let's dive in! The spot itself is super cool, I love the stacked wood at the counter. I also love how open it is, plenty of seating (including bar, especially nice if you're solo like I was), plus the self-serve nature of everything. There's a sauce (their homemade sauce is tasty!) and hand wash station, and boxes are readily available to grab. The market itself is worth the visit! Wonderful inventory and great prices, too! Ordering was easy (I'd pre-stalked the menu) and there are tons of options. I went with the 2 meats/2 sides option and got brisket, sausage, mac & cheese with bacon, and yams ($26 after tip). The meat was really the star of the show, that brisket is so tender and melts in your mouth...yum. The sausage had great flavor, though I do want to try their occasional jalapeno & cheddar version. The sides were a bit lackluster for me. The M&C definitely needed some creaminess, and the yams while good didn't blow me away. The hush puppies were really dry, for me at least. The staff were nice and efficient, and multiple asked me if I needed anything as they walked around. All in all, a wonderful experience and I'll definitely be back! Can't wait to try brunch!

We made same day reservations a few hours in advance because we figured it would get crowded with Elon parents visiting their kids. I'm glad we did because it was packed 15 minutes after we sat down. Hostess was kind with greeting us and sat us down right away when we arrived. My husband ordered the shrimp & grits and I ordered the pancakes with sausage. Food came within 15 minutes. The pancakes were fluffy and the sausage was nicely cooked. Service was great and one of the servers made sure to keep my water glass filled. The Mark at Elon is very pretty inside. They have a private parking lot outside reserved for Inn guests and we were able to park there because we were at the restaurant. I would recommend this place if you have guests in town and want something slightly nicer than your typical breakfast diner. They do serve lunch and dinner here too, but I can't speak on that food just yet. I'll have to return to try it out!
