I've always enjoyed Drake's, especially their club sandwiches, so this review is disappointing to write. This time I decided to keep things a little more Atkins/keto friendly and ordered a grilled chicken salad and a cup of chili. The total came to just over $26, with the salad alone costing almost $17. I understand prices have gone up everywhere. I can accept that. What I can't accept is paying premium prices while the overall experience falls short. The first issue started before I even got inside. The restaurant was packed, and customers were parked all along the curb directly in front of the designated to go pickup area. That completely blocked access. It took me nearly ten minutes of circling the parking lot, backing up near the dumpster, moving again, and eventually squeezing my truck into a parking space (in the "to-go" pick up area where I'm supposed to be anyway) just to pick up my order. When you're that busy, parking becomes part of the customer experience. At some point management needs to step in and help keep traffic moving instead of allowing the pickup area to become unusable (don't tell me I'm wrong because I'll tell you what not only did. I have to navigate that situation due to cars being along the curb in front of the to go area, but two other vehicles that were parked in the to go spaces had nobody in them and I was there for 10 minutes waiting for my food so those people were inside eating in the restaurant I presume-given that I observed their empty vehicles for a total of 20 minutes). To be fair, the employee who brought my order out was excellent. She greeted me with a smile, was friendly, professional, and was easily the brightest part of the entire experience. Then I got home and opened the salad. For $17, this was honestly disappointing. The chicken, bacon, and toppings had simply been simply tossed in there, while the rest was mostly plain, sad looking lettuce. It looked rushed and careless, especially considering the price. The first of several photos are exactly how the salad looked the moment I opened the container on my kitchen counter. I hadn't touched it or moved anything around. The last photo, however, my awesome lady was able to turn that same salad into something amazing in just a couple of minutes. SHE chopped up some pepperoni that we already had in the refrigerator, diced a little Colby Jack cheese, added tomatoes, mixed everything together, and finished it with ranch dressing and a level 10 appearance on the plate. She didn't have to cook anything. She simply took the time to prepare it the way a $17 salad probably should have looked when it left the restaurant. The chili was good, and I'll absolutely give credit where it's due. Drake's still has menu items I enjoy, and I've had plenty of good meals there over the years. But when you're charging premium prices, customers deserve the same level of quality whether the restaurant is half full or packed to the walls. Being busy explains delays. It doesn't excuse lowering the standard. I genuinely hope Drake's takes this as constructive feedback because I know they can do better. I've seen them do better! read more

Drakes has a lot of high top tables. The menu has a wide range of options that will surely satisfy your entire group's appetite. They have a range of appetizers, burgers, tacos, and even sushi! I was actually very impressed their side salad. My quesadilla was so good. It was huge. I had leftovers. My son loved his tots and chicken tenders. I had an adult beverage and it was pretty good. They were busy for the holiday. The service was a bit slow, but our waiter was very nice. If your group can't decide on where to eat, this is your best bet. Stopped here for lunch on a Friday with a co-worker. It was busy, but we were seated quickly, and although the food took a little longer than expected, it was absolutely worth the wait. The vibe inside is great -- a cool sports bar feel with tons of open space and two separate bar areas. I ordered the grilled chicken, and it was honestly one of the best I've had. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and served in two pieces, so it was super filling. I also got a side salad, which was fresh and really good. My co-worker ordered the honey sriracha wings, and she let me try one. It was perfectly crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. I know it's a chain, but I need to go to Drake's more often because it is GOOD. I went with my husband on a Thursday evening and we were seated immediately at a high top near the bar area. We ordered the warm pretzels & cheese sauce to share for an appetizer. For my meal, I got the Big Blue Burger with tots. You can pick any other side though. My husband ordered the Buffalo Chicken Mac 'N Cheese. Everything was delicious! And service was wonderful. The place can get a little crowded with a wait time, but that's to be expected. My man got the sushi sashimi it was mid but I did ordered some rolls and that was a 10 for me! The drinks were disappointing for us. We visited on a Saturday afternoon around 330. There was a 30 minute wait, which actually ended up being about 45. I had a friend with me and my 1 year old nephew. They sat us at a high top table with a high chair on the end. The high chair was tall enough to reach the table, but didn't seem very stable as it kept rocking back and forth whenever my nephew moved. We ended up taking him out and just holding him instead. The server said they didn't have another one available. I ended up choosing the fried chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries as my entree. It was a massive sandwich and very tasty. The kids meal was a large portion as well. We got a grilled cheese with Mac n cheese and I was surprised at how much he ate! He really enjoyed the Mac n cheese. I tasted it and it was a good balance of cheesy and creamy. My friend chose a burger and she said it was just okay, nothing exciting or anything she would get again, but it wasn't a bad burger. The menu was a mix of cooked and uncooked sushi so it's a good spot for those not all-in with raw fish. I ordered a sushi on special which was a LEMON SMOKED SALMON WITH AVOCADO AND CREAM CHEESE ROLL. It is not a normal sushi item that you find and I really liked the lemon citrus twist!!! Waited over an HOUR for a simple pickup order, only to find out the food had been sitting on their cart the entire time because apparently no one could be bothered to run orders out. I went inside TWICE trying to figure out what was going on while cooks and wait staff stood around on their phones and piles of to-go boxes stacked up everywhere. The worst part was the manager's response. Instead of apologizing or taking accountability, she told me, "I could have stopped at your car to check on your order." Drake's is a chain but this seems to be one of only a few locations on the East coast. The atmosphere was laid back and breezy (literally) with open garage doors surrounding multiple seating areas and bars. That was nice. I was apprehensive about the burger/sushi combination on the menu, which was large and diverse. The eel roll was good, although I've had better at Japanese focused restaurants, for cheaper. The roll was cut oddly in that several of the pieces were too huge to fit in your mouth while others were small. The red sangria was not the freshest and syrupy. The service was decent, but insincere. The meal was fast and it was clear our server was ready for us to get out, she didn't ask if we wanted dessert or another round just brought the check abruptly. I recently got takeout from Drake's Burlington, and it did not disappoint! I ordered the BBQ Burger with a side of fries, and it was a fantastic meal. The BBQ Burger was definitely the highlight--every bite was packed with flavor, and the sauce was absolutely amazing. It had the perfect balance of sweetness and smokiness, making each bite better than the last. The fries were extra crispy, which I didn't mind at all--they had a nice crunch and paired well with the burger. Overall, a great takeout experience! I'll definitely be ordering from here again. Drake's is a really fun (chain) bar/restaurant in Burlington with great food and drink options. Their big selling point is that they offer sushi, along with traditional upscale bar food, something for everyone! Everything I've ever ordered here has been great and I've never experienced any issues. This is my go to place in the area when meeting up with friends and honestly just what Alamance Crossing needs. The service is usually pretty good. Sometimes, parking can be tough despite it being a large lot, depending on how busy they are. I always always always have to order the Crab Rangoon Roll, it's too good not to! In addition to that on my last visit, I also ordered The All American Burger. It's good. Not the best burger I've ever had by any means, but still good. The fries were great! My friend ordered the Baked Lava roll (her personal favorite) and the sliders (not pictured). All very good. I would say their prices tend to be a bit higher than other comparable places, especially for the American food section. Is the food worth the prices? Eh..somewhat. Depending on what the food item is. The atmosphere is what I feel you're mainly paying for, especially in this area when not many other places like Drake's are around. I would definitely recommend Drake's as a good option for dining if you're in Burlington or traveling through an area that has a Drake's as it is a chain. read more
