We went to Tickle My Ribs on a Friday night. The restaurant was about 50% capacity. That is probably not typical, as Gibsonville was having the Tree Lighting Celebration. That would have taken some of their guests away, as it's close by. Ordering is done a the counter so it is basically self service. The barbecue was very good, as well as the sides. Girls at the front were friendly and staff seemed capable and friendly but place was dirty, all tables were sticky and needed to be cleaned. They had just opened so we were surprised at this. Well if I am being honest you get a lot of meat but the sides are small. We had ribs and they were perfect! The brisket was tender and filled with flavor. I love to travel to different BBQ places across NC on my motorcycle. I honestly picked this place because it had some really good reviews, but mostly the name of this place was hilarious to me . There was nothing funny about the food though! Or the service! Both were great! I got a brisket meal with Mac & cheese. The Mac and cheese was decent, 7/10 Brisket was about the same, a little dry but not the worst I've ever had. They automatically put BBQ sauce on it and not on the side which I thought was weird. - 7/10 The jerk chicken tacos were freaking amazing. There are disabled spots right in front of the business. Walking in, it's very quiet and sort of morbid. No one is in the lobby area and the staff behind the counter. Seems to just be there. No smile or greeting, and I had to ask them several times About putting in my phone number for the membership. When it came time to check out, it had me sign up again, which means all of my accumulated points are gone. The food itself was nothing special. The brisket came doused in sauce. I wish they had asked me which kind of sauce I wanted because the one they selected was very sweet. The meat itself was super dry and tasted old. The greeting was pleasant and informative. I did tell the cashier I was a newbie and she suggested menu items and they were good to taste the St. Louis Ribs could've been a little more hotter with heat they were too lukewarm to be just served on my plate. I did try the 3 meat combo which included; Brisket (chopped) because if you get it sliced there's an extra charge of $2. Chicken wings, Ribs, Mac& cheese not bad for box. Okra is excellent. Hush puppies need some work too thick. Nice selection of music. Store Very Clean at All Times. Manager only talks to customers he knows not other customers in the restaurant which is cool. This place is the spot!!! If you are ever in town, Burlington, I would recommend checking this place out. I wasn't expecting anything crazy but wowwww all the food had an a outstanding taste! One of the main reasons why I give this place a 5 is because of the short amount of time it took for our food to come out. All the food came out at the same time and was fresh/warm. It was clean inside and the workers even helped clean up our plates after we were done eating. The BBQ chicken and the banana pudding (not pictured) was my favorite!! The customer service and sweet tea was fantastic! Unfortunately the food was not up to par. It wasn't my kind of BBQ. It was definitely your typical take out bbq. The ribs was more like a bake rib, didn't have a smokey flavor to it, tasted between a bake or boiled Saint Louis rib. The cut that was given to me was also the pieces on the edge which wasn't really a bone in rib. I despise it when this happens, especially paying the $10+ price point. I wasn't really feeling the sides either. The Mac-n-cheese was nothing special, just cheese with pasta. The fries was a bit too salty in my opinion. Overall, glad I tried it. It's ok, macaroni is processed, not authentic. Some processed cheese food product. The meat is cold, probably cooked the day before. Hush puppies and potato salad is good. This place is great for what it is. It's not somewhere that you'd go for a date of for anything fancy but it's good for a casual lunch when you're out shopping or hitting a sporting event later in the day. I ordered the two meat combo plate with pork ribs and sliced brisket. My sides were mac and cheese and bbq beans. I had some extra bbq sauce on the side. Everything tasted good except for the hush puppies. The service was also decent. I was welcomed when I came in and the lady at the counter was kind and professional. My food also came out incredibly quickly which leads me to believe the food is precooked but it still seemed fresh when I ate it. I would eat here and again and would recommend. read more

I've never had worse pork BBQ from a self-proclaimed BBQ restaurant. This was neither Eastern NC or Lexington Style BBQ. It was reheated pulled pork with a thick red sauce on top. The meat did not have any smoke flavor. In fact, the only flavor that stood out was the awful flavor that pork takes on once it has been microwaved. I didn't smell any smoke when I pulled up, so I'm almost certain I was served leftovers. I'm not usually one to leave food on the plate, but I gladly made an exception. Sides were decent, but nothing to rave over. Service was adequate. Aside from placing an order at the counter and receiving the order at the table, there was no interaction from the staff. The dining room was nothing special. They had one TV in the main dining area playing Faux News. (Politics for dinner gives me indigestion.) Local photos decorated the walls. Tables were clean. Sorry, but my ribs were not tickled. I would have considered a slightly higher rating, but using a microwave for BBQ is unforgivable. read more

I "use" to live to eat here. My Moms name is amongst the honored first responders. However, after this past Sundays visit, not sure I'll be visiting again. Not sure what happened, but the quality of the food has dropped in my opinion. We got there right after 12pm. You would think the food would be fresh and hot. Nope! If you are worried about covid, this is not the place for you! The cashier, the cook, the waitress.. no one wears a mask. Now the food; I had the two meat platter with ribs and chicken. I loved the ribs, chicken was okay, I did not get them sauced but would've probably been better with. My sides were Mac and cheese and okra, the Mac and cheese was good and the okra was great. My companion had the chopped brisket and that was delicious. I would definitely go again and probably only get the ribs as a meat and would definitely get the Mac and cheese and okra. I am downright glowing over my BBQ experience. Faced with choosing any restaurant between Greensboro and Raleigh, I went with the one with the funny name for lack of any other info. What came from that? Fall off the bone ribs, perfectly seasoned pork, smokey chicken, fantastic Brunswick stew, tantalizingly rich and luscious baked beans, mac n cheese like mom used to make, generous portions, reasonable prices, nice atmosphere, homemade sweet tea, pecan pie... Yet another new barbecue restaurant in the Burlington that serves a variety of smoked meats which includes BBQ Pork - Stokley's down the road just recently opened as well. It is located in a fairly new shopping center, with modern, functional seating, and no frills eating utensils. You order at the front, pay, fill your drink, and wait for your number to be called. The BBQ Pork is not strictly traditional - it has some smoke (not sure how accomplished, doubt an open pit), is more a grind than a chop, and unless requested otherwise, is served with the house sauce, which has a tomato/vinegar base with a little sweetness, and no heat. This is not a bad pork product, especially if the house sauce is excluded, or added to - like with their version of an Eastern NC sauce (still mild), or some commercial hot sauce. The texture is not my all time favorite because of the grind, but properly sauced, it ain't half bad. You can get your pork sliced for a $1 more on the plate, 50 cents more on the sandwich - I'll go that way next time. The pork sandwich comes on a steamed bun, and between the sauce (whatever kind) and the slaw, it comes apart pretty quickly, so it can be messy. They offer 4 sauces -house, Eastern NC, Lexington, and a SC mustard based sauce - none really get the job done by itself. I've never thought offering multiiple sauces at a barbecue restaurant was a good idea - pick one and go with it. BBQ Chicken (1/4 dark was $7.29 with FF, Slaw, & HPs) was also somewhat smoky, and came with a tomato based sauce - a little sweet, with density a little less than ketchup. All in all, not bad, though the chicken was not falling off the bone tender. The slaw is mayo based with some carrot in it, a little sweet and a little wet, but has a decent taste, adds to the taste of the BBQ Pork. The FF are very nice - nice flavor, well seasoned. They offer a hot dog, but no chili - not sure I get that. This place is worth a try, at least for the pork - properly sauced it works. Not a destination BBQ joint, but a reasonable port in a storm. read more
